Today marks my 38th birthday, so here is a list of 38 games that are on my mind, dear to my heart, need to get played - whatever I feel like (hey, its my birthday).

Speaking of overproduced games to try...

I know only a little of what I've read in the previews, but this is another that I feel like I have to try. From what I've seen so far, it should be in the play-to-win table and the trade table at the 2009 Geekway. Knowing my luck, I'll get a copy and hate it.

Speaking of hating and getting - this is exactly what I mean. Last year I tried this game and hated it. Guess what game I won? I gifted it to Karen for taking me to the airport Sunday morning, so it didn't go to waste. I shouldn't complain about winning a free game, but man! Did it have to be this one?

This was last year's surprise game. I never would have thought I'd like this game and I'm really glad Jay Little introduced me to it at the 2008 Geekway. The fact that my son gets a kick out of it too is a huge plus.

Doesn't anyone pay attention to my game comments! Of course, this is an awesome game! I've spent more time playing this one with my son than any other game....probably combined.

Even if loads of people wrote that tiddly winks was fun with their kids, I would not have tried it. It took an actual playing before I smacked myself.

With all the gamers here in the Valley of the Sun, why isn't there a decent local convention? And no, I don't want to put one on - I want to play games all day in one.

And an RPG or comic convention with table space doesn't count. I want a real boardgamers convention that I don't have to travel to.

RinCon went pretty well on the boardgaming end last year, for a first-year convention. I have high hopes for this year. I ran the Eurogames division, planning events. The final event was an "unveiling" of Le Havre, direct from Essen. My g/f and I are willing to host a gamer or two this year, if sleeping accommodations are a concern (they have historically been so for me).

There's also Randomcon I've heard tell of in the Phoenix area, although it seems primarily RPG-focused. I've been contemplating trying to make it to that one nonetheless.

Yeah, I saw the information for Randomcon and they are looking for boardgamers, but that's not their primary focus.

To keep it or not? I have the base and the elemental and giant promo figures and can't decide if I should let this go or hold onto it. I like all the games in the C&C series, but finally ditched Memoir last year. I traded the expansion I had for BL, but still have the base game and other parts. I do like this version, but am on the fence about holding it to play with my son or just give it up.

Yes, I'd put this right up there with Antiquity at the top of the list. Although Java, El Grande, and Planet Steam should keep those two company at the top of the list too, rounding out the "Top 5 Games To Play As Soon As Possible."

I finally got the guys to play this a few months back. We stopped after four rounds only because we wanted to play something else in the waning hours of the evening, but we all agreed that it was a good game. It's just too bad my group isn't one for an all-day single-game session.

You might consider playing the 5-election game for your first outing, just to keep it from lasting too long. It's a game with a lot of moving parts to wrap your head around, so it can take a while at first. But yes, get this to the table soon.

I've only played this one once with 5-players, 7-rounds. It didn't grab me, there are a few elements (primarily random ones) I found annoying. I have it on my "For Trade" list, but it's not one I'll easily let go. I would love to try this one again sometime.

I wonder if there should be an attempt at an all-day-game-players-of-Arizona? The numbers in Tucson are also quite lacking, unless the games in question are war-like games or Arkham Horror.

I'm currently on a quest to get more people interested in 18XX and Splotter releases. Winsome has thus far gone over pretty well with many folk.

You know, if I won the lotto I think I'd sit around and code up web version of games for PBEM. I really like the PBEM format for games as it lets me play some games I enjoy. It also lets me play against folks I'd hardly ever get to play against.

How many games is too many? With expansions, I'm closing in on 300 games. I know that it isn't that many compared to many of the collections on this site, but according to my wife, it is starting to become a little much. I really like 90% of my collection (that I've played). I have a few games I've kept that are for display purposes that I don't see playing, but I have gotten to the point where I don't generally keep games just to keep them. And "holes" are only there if I think there is (ie I don't really have to have co-op game that plays more than 4 players since I don't care that much about playing co-op games).

I think this game sounds pretty fun and the minis look cool as hell. I have avoided this like the plague, because I just don't want to sink the money into the planes (and yes, I know you don't need the minis to play or enjoy the game, but I probably do )

The minis make this game. I spent a ton of money to buy a bunch of planes, but it was worth it. I'd still like to get more, but truth be told it hasn't seen the table in a while.

I ought to take it to work tomorrow.

I really need more time (doesn't everyone?). More time to play games and sit at a table enjoying my friends and family while I beat the pants off them at another game. Actually, I wish I had more time, so I could do all the things I love not just play more boardgames (but you better believe if I had more time, I'd play more).
