Spring is here and sailboats will be launching off the docks to set sail. Memorial Weekend is when a lot of sailboats will set sail. Here is a list of the best sailing games in history for you to enjoy the summer at the beach house with. I grew up sailing on Lake Huron in Northern Michigan and I am far from being an expert, but enjoy feeling the wind in my face with a cold beer in hand. A little bit of knowledge will help you enjoy some of these games, but anybody can learn and enjoy them. I would love to try most of these games and I would love to here your comments if you have played any of them. I only own Race The Wind and previously owned Regatta for the true sailing games. Please add any that I may have missed.

It's really, really good, but it's got some fiddly elements to it.

I had to include this as I live right where the wheel is nowadays.

This is a pickup & deliver game on the Great Lakes. This was an interesting find when I was researching the games.

This game was published in issue 85 of Strategy & Tactics Magazine.

For a wargame, it has fairly simple rules, and a lot of historical flavor without bogging down in too much detail.

I include this because, although I have not played it myself, I understand that involves sailing and manouevering, which to my mind fits this list. It is not yachting, but it is sail.

This is not an invitation to add any game with a boat or pirates.

Miniatures rules for the Age of Sail with detailed sailing rules. So much sailing, in fact, that the gunnery seems an afterthought.

Where's the Photo? Why do people post games without photos. How do we know this game even exists without the photos.

Attributed to Rollo Gebhard, a German one-hand round-the-world sailor. Family game that fits the theme well.

I love theme lists like this. They throw up so many curious games you've never heard of.
