Since I sometimes like to plagiarize information to create annoying geeklists, I always thought the book Human Accomplishments: The Pursuit of Excellence in the Arts and Scienes, 800 B.C to 1950 would be a good one.

I guess it doesn't really have anything to do with gaming, although I've noticed that there are some really smart people on this website.

The list was modified from one in the book that ended after the first 20 ranked by importance in physics, math, astronomy, biology, chemistry, technology, medicine, and earth science.

I thought the list came out pretty good, although the top people in each field perhaps should have been been given special consideration which would have made the list begin as Newton, Einstein, Euler, Galileo, Darwin, Lavoisier, Watt, Edison, and Pasteur.

(I meant to end the list to the first 100, but unlike the smart people on this list I don't seem to be smart enough to count.)
