A collection of images that have been approved by Geekmod even though they shouldn't have.

Warning, this geeklist contains a lot of criticism.

Normally i would decline pictures like that right away.
- Colour cast
The image has a strong colour cast. Everyone who is not blind, will see it.
But with some easy colour correction it should look better.

- Image size
It's also an 8MP picture, presumably right out of the camera. It weighs 2.2MB. This is a minor issue and i wouldn't decline images because of size. But i wish, people would learn that the original JPGs from cameras can be compressed a lot more without visible artefacts.

So with some colour correction and size adjustment, the picture would look like this:

...errr.... wait. This picture is from the gallery!
- Similar
The same submitter uploaded this picture on the same day before he uploaded the original picture. Even worse, at the time the bad picture was approved, there were only two pictures in the gallery, including the better one.

Geekmod failed.

- Badly rotated
There is a reason why this option to decline exists.
Certainly not everyone is the same, but looking at these pictures makes me dizzy. gulp Unless you want to be especially artsy or you want to make the images look like they were taken on the Titanic, there is no reason not to hold the camera level or 90° when shooting pictures.

- No post processing
Apart from rotating the pictures they could have been resized. Camera sensor noise isn't important for gamers.

There are a lot more pictures from this convention, taken by the same guy.

Because there are so many of them, the badly rotated images are not very important and could easily be declined.

- Wrong category
This picture is filed under "Game" but should go into the "Creative" category.
A common error. I don't think many Geekmodders look at the category.

- Blurry
Maybe the geekmodders where blinded by the special effects but the whole picture is quite blurry.

(Minor) Geekmod fail.

- Colour cast
Another example of a really strong colour cast. I fail to understand why this is approved. It is a box shot, the box won't run away for a better shot. And it is a recent game, not a game that has been excavated in Egypt. The best option is to decline the image. I normally tag the "underexposed/overexposed" option because colour cast are wrong exposures of specific colours. Then the submitter has the opportunity to read the manual of his camera he bought one hour ago and actually look at the picture before he submits it.

This is his box front:

And this is how the colours should look like:

Sometimes it hard to see through dozens of pages of images just to find a similar one. This game had 2 pages of images.
It is not hard to recognize that the manual is already shown in this picture:

The old picture is not perfect but has a much higher resolution than the new one. You can easily read the text on the Standard Game Book.
And the uploader of the newer image has covered this book also and this was also approved:

I see no reason to approve separate low-res pictures of book covers if there is already one high-res version of the combined covers.
This issue is similar to submitting single cards. Discussion here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/404103

BTW, the uploader of these pictures is one of my "favourite". He uploads loads of pictures which in most cases have a very low resolution (->fast uploads, no details), are badly made with bad exposure, a lot of distortion, bad camera or bad downscaling and they show similar objects in most cases. Still many of the images make it through Geekmod. And if they don't he resubmits. Geekmod is not very image spam resistant.

Geekmod double failed.

Sooo... what's wrong with this?
Well, it is a small child. Nothing wrong with that alone. The point is that the gallery belongs to a game designer. OK, it is his child so the genes should be loosely related to the game designer. But i don't think the gallery for a game designer shouldn't be used instead of his personal user gallery.
Even more interesting is the rest of the images:

So, instead of uploading images of his games in development and a Carcassonne variant to his user gallery, he uploads the pictures to his entry as a game designer.
IMO this is very wrong, because the gallery should show images of the person and not his creations. The later are linked on the page.
I was flagging the images as "Wrong item", yet the Geekmod crowd decided to accept most or all of the images.

Geekmod failed.

This actually had me laughing when i saw this on Geekmod. It is a basic component of the game in English ... not altered, which is rare for Agricola. And i thought "No way, this is not already in the gallery". So i searched through all 1000 images of Agricola looking for a similar image. But there was none. So, i approved it. And what my fellow geekmodders do? They declined it. It's a pity that you can't see why it was declined, but there is already a suggestion that this would be nice to have. I think it was declined as "similar" which is simply not correct.

Geekmod failed.

The submitter uploaded it again, this time with the caption "English Board Family Side - on request - not in database". It's sad that these kind of comments have to be made to get a completely valid image approved.

- Badly Rotated
Yes the pictures on the cards are now corrected, but the whole perspective is just too wrong. Too achieve this with you head, you have to look straight down then tilt you head sideways. Or just try to reach you armpit with one ear.
I simply hate when people submit these kind of images. They put absolutely no thought into the final picture before pressing the button. Because of the perspective they "think" it is a good idea to rotate the camera to take the picture. And in the final process they rotate it so that up and down is left to right. Sorry, this is not the way perspective works.

And of course, Geekmod failed
