So, now Dominion won the Spiel Des Jahres.
I guess it will generate a wave of games which will share the same "draft" and deck building mechanics - pair of games have already been released.
I'd like to list here the so-called "Sons of Dominion".
Or "Dominionish" games.
UPDATE: changed sort order to "alphabetical".

New expansion for Dominion (NOT a stand-alone game).
From the game page: "Times have been hard. To save on money, you've moved out of your old castle and into a luxurious ravine. You didn't like that castle anyway; it was always getting looted and never at a reasonable hour. And if it wasn't barbarians it was the plague, or sometimes both would come at once, and there wouldn't be enough chairs. The ravine is great; you get lots of sun, and you can just drop garbage wherever you want. In your free time you've taken up begging. Begging is brilliant conceptually, but tricky in practice since no one has any money. You beg twigs from the villagers, and they beg them back, but no one really seems to come out ahead. That's just how life is sometimes. You're quietly conquering people, minding your own business, when suddenly there's a plague, or barbarians, or everyone's illiterate, and it's all you can do to cling to some wreckage as the storm passes through. Still, you are sure that, as always, you will triumph over this adversity, or at least do slightly better than everyone else.
Dominion: Dark Ages is the seventh addition to the game of Dominion. It contains 500 cards but is not a standalone game. It adds 35 new Kingdom cards to Dominion, plus new bad cards you give to other players (Ruins), new cards to replace starting Estates (Shelters), and cards you can get only via specific other cards. The central themes are the trash and upgrading. There are cards that do something when trashed, cards that care about the trash, cards that upgrade themselves, and ways to upgrade other cards."

Sixth expansion to Dominion.
From the game page: "The world is big and your kingdom small. Small when compared to the world, that is; it's moderate-sized when compared to other kingdoms. But in a big world like this one - big when compared to smaller worlds anyway, if such things exist; it's moderate-sized when compared to worlds of roughly the same size, and a little small when compared to worlds just a little larger - well, to make a long story short - short when compared to longer stories anyway - it is time to stretch your borders. You've heard of far-off places - exotic countries, where they have pancakes but not waffles, where the people wear the wrong number of shirts, and don't even have a word for the look two people give each other when they each hope that the other will do something that they both want done but which neither of them wants to do. It is to these lands that you now turn your gaze.
Dominion: Hinterlands is the sixth addition to the game of Dominion. It adds 26 new Kingdom cards to Dominion, including 20 Actions, 3 Treasures, 3 Victory cards, and 3 Reactions. The central theme is cards that do something immediately when you buy them or gain them."

I Hope You Get Eaten By Zombies! is the first set in the exciting new card game Eaten by zombies! In I Hope You Get Eaten by Zombies! you strive to survive as the horde of the living dead make it their goal in Death to make you join the crowd. You must work with or against the other survivors to be the last man or woman standing or at least the only one left cowering in the corner crying for their mommy.
Every turn you must venture from the safety of your house and scavenge for Swag. But not so fast those pesky zombies have other plans for your brains, if they have a plan at all. Every day a Horde of fresh zombies will be waiting just outside for a not so quick bite to eat. Now it's time for those instincts to kick in... you know 'Fight or Flee!' or if the zombies have their way 'Die or Trip!' Using the swag you've got on you (ie cards in you hand) you must survive any way you can.
If you can get away or just kill the Horde, you may scavenge the remains of the desolate suburbs for any Swag the neighbors may have left behind. Hay, they're not going to need it and someday you might, so you might as well take it now. With the right stuff and a few good friends to out run, you may just make it throw this alive... well... probably not.

Stand alone 2 player sequel to Eaten By Zombie which also works as a 5/6 players expansion for the base game.
From the game page: "The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and the only sounds whispering through the streets were the gentle moans of the undead... Can you and a friend survive the Horde together, or will you use that beating heart across the table to save your own skin?
In Cahoots is the next installment in the smash hit deck building game of zombie survival. Eaten by Zombies! by Max Holliday. Featuring new Swag and new Zombies. In Cahoots can be played as a two-survivor standalone, or as a two-player expansion to Eaten by Zombies!
Contents 2 New Starting decks 55 New Swag cards 20 zombie cards"

"Sequel" to Barbarossa, also works as an expansion set.
From the game page "A sequel to Arclight's deckbuilding game Barba*Rossa (ばるば★ろっさ), it depicts the first battle of El Alamein during WWII, as the Axis powers thrust through Africa to conquer Alexandria. Like it's predecessor, the artwork in El*Alamein consists of scantily clad anime girls.
Although it's technically possible to use the cards in both sets together, El*Alamein is first and foremost a game on its own, and is better described as a "compatible sequel" than a standalone expansion."

My latest game project (coming soon from Tasty Minstrel Games) is called Eminent Domain. It is the next logical evolution in deck building games - using a deck building mechanism to drive a game that is NOT all about building your deck.
BGG entry wrote: Survey the galaxy to expand your civilization... Will you colonize nearby planets, or take them over by force? Harvest resources for trade, and do research to improve your technology. Build the best civilization and win the game!
Eminent Domain is a civilization building game in which your civilization's abilities are based on a deck of Role cards. At the beginning of the game each player has the same deck of cards, with just 2 cards for each Role in it. Every turn you must choose a Role to execute (and like Glory to Rome or Puerto Rico, your opponents will get a chance to follow suit), and in doing so you will add one of those Role cards to your deck. When executing a Role, you can boost it's effect by playing cards out of your hand matching the Role you have chosen. So for example, the more you Research, the better you get at Researching (because you'll have more Research cards in your deck).
The theme may remind players of Race for the Galaxy for obvious reasons, but the game play may remind players of Glory to Rome or San Juan as it's a role selection game. I hope to post some pictures of the prototype in action soon.

Another japanese deck-building game.
"BUILD and BREAK" is a deck-building card game with the fun of both TCG and RPG. During the game play, you obtain cards of your party members (job card) and their special moves (ability card) by buying them into your deck, use it to complete the scenario.
There will be three monster cards reveal during game play, one by one. Each player have to fight the revealed monster and earn VP according to the result. After beating the final monster, the player with the highest score wins."

"Build & Break"is the deck-building card game which collect clue of creature called "Masquerade" by complete some mission , and we have to defeat Masquerade and get many money to win the game.
the mission is decided by two cards. When you see the clue of one mission to complete now , you can also see half of the next one. So you can see which is easy to complete in our own deck.
To defeat the Masquerade, you have to use many cards from your deck used by "Double Trigger" which can get by collecting this Masquerade's clue. However, it also means reducing your life. If you don't have enough life after you defeat the Masquerade, you lose the battle. Generally, it is key point to win that how compress your deck. However, you can't win in "Build & Break" by this way. You have to build efficient compress and leave some cards even you don't need in general mission. This is a little hard to make balance to build, but so fun!

I guess that the reference to Harry Potter is just temporary.

From the game page: ""When two wizards test their strengths against eachother in a magic duel several factors decides the outcome; the ability to learn and adapt fast to changes, flexibility in strategy and tactics when necessary, master of both attack and defense, courage to try the unknown and wits to outsmart the other combatant." All these things matter when playing Expell.
Expell is a deck building game set in a magical environment. Two or more players compete for survival as wizards. Make the best use of the Grimoire to optimize your deck of spells to defeat your enemies. The objective of the game is to exhaust the opponent(s) willpower with a good combination of spells and magical items.
"No strategy is good but the strategy to observe, adapt and act faster than your enemy.""

From the game page:
"Welcome to the wild, weird world of FANTASTIQA!
Fantastiqa is a deck-building board game set in a fantastical landscape of dark forests, mist-shrouded highlands, and frozen wastes. As you and your foes journey around the board, you will subdue strange creatures and fulfill fabulous quests.
Each creature you encounter has both an ability and a vulnerability. By playing card symbols to which a creature is vulnerable, you can subdue it and recruit it as an ally. Each creature you defeat is added to your expanding deck of cards, making its special ability into an ability of your own! A defeated Enchantress will wield her beguiling charms to help you overcome wandering Knights. Knights in turn subdue Dragons, adding their fiery breath to your cause. By combining the powers of different creatures you can fulfill curious quests:
Send forth your Rabbits of Unusual Size to Nibble Through the Violin Strings of the Violent Vampire Volnar! Deploy a party of web-slinging Spiders to String a Bridge Across the Chasm of Chaos! Send your Dragons and Vampire Bats together on a mission to Ignite the Whisker-Wick'd Candle Guarded by the Ice Cats of Kituviel! Some of the creatures you encounter carry precious gems, which you can spend to purchase powerful artifacts or to summon mythical beasts to your aid. You begin with a handful of household items, but you will grow in power as you adventure and gather allies! By completing quests you score victory points and claim other special rewards. The board changes every time you play, so prepare for a new, exciting adventure each time you enter the world of Fantastiqa!
FANTASTIQA is easy to learn but challenging to master – a game for families and gamers alike. Additional simplified rules are included for beginners and children.
The components are lavishly illustrated with fine art by Caspar David Friedrich, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Arthur Rackham, John William Waterhouse, John Bauer, Edward Burne-Jones, Francisco Goya, and others."

Self-produced deck building game.
From the game page: "In Feudalia you control three feuds with one small village included in each feud. A small population of vassals work in those feuds and provide you with resources or make you earn money, considering both things necessary in order to make your small village grow, increasing your population, specializing your vassals and hiring the great masters.
Apart from trying to have the most prosperous feuds, you must help in the construction of the cathedral the king demands for his own sake and glory. Both these matters will face the tax collector putting pressure on you and the uncertainty of possible attacks from the neighbouring feudal lords, although negotiation is another way to achieve your objectives. Turns, phases and actions
Each turn you draw five cards from your vassals’ deck. If you get the tax collector you must play it first and pay half the resources in each of your feuds, or in the case you cannot pay anything, half your profits in your hand.
There are many actions you can do, as many times as you want and whatever order you want, with all the remaining cards in your hand and with the great masters in your feuds. Rules are very easy when paying attention to this aspect of the game. The complexity and gist of it are the different decisions we must make and which should be more strategic than tactical, so long term plans must be considered in order to win the game."
Cards and artwork seems very clear and simple.

An intriguing new game from Victory Point Games, combining deck-building and chess variations. Basically you're building chess pieces (familiar and new), recruiting, training, placing, and moving them. There are numerous different strategies to discover ("economic" in the decks and "military" on the chessboard).
More information, including rules and artwork, over at the VPG "For the Crown" page.
The game is published tomorrow (23 June).

For the Crown expansion.
From the game page: "The war for the crown has not yet ceased ... not even when the sun goes down. While the war rages on during the day, both princes and their armies hope to catch the other unawares under the blanket of darkness, when all is thought to be quiet on the field. However, both sides have come well prepared, going through lengths to recruit special units to surprise their enemy, including a Phantom to cloak itself in the darkness and capture the King and Heirs.
From our popular deck-building game, For the Crown, comes the first expansion, Cover of Night, introducing a new range of units, and an additional Sovereign, to pit against your opponent. Can you strategize your units wisely on the dark battlefield? Find out if you have what it takes to effectively conquer the kingdom under the Cover of Night!
Note, the For the Crown Expansion Kit 1: Cover of Night is not a ‘stand alone’ game. You must own a copy of For the Crown to use this expansion kit.

It is nice to see that this mechanic also works well with a relatively small deck of cards.

From the game page:
"The year is 2021.
Environmental upheavals, accelerated resource depletion, and escalating warfare have destabilized world politics past the point of no return. Political alliances have long since dissolved as each power block struggles for survival.
In this declining world, technological advancement has ground to a halt, while the world’s armed forces make do with the weapons available from bygone decades.
You enter this desperate struggle for survival as the leader of one of the six remaining factions.
Game Design
Global Domination uses the "deck Building" game mechanic used by some popular recent games like Dominion.
Deck building is very cool. It takes all the good and none of the bad from collectible card games. In a deck building game, you lay out the different types of cards on the table, and everyone starts with the same handful of cards. As the game plays, you get to select which cards on the table you wish to add to your individual deck, thus creating your own means of winning the game."

Dice-based rewriting of the deck/pool building mechanic.
From the game page: "Have you ever tried to manage a community of gnomes? This is quite a difficult task, as they are hard to control and they usually do whatever they want.
Gnominia puts the players in charge of managing a village inhabited by gnomes and have them competing with other villages. The first player who manages to gain 20 trophies is declared winner.
A game for 1-4 players with a dynamic setup which allows for ever-changing experiences, Gnominia is a dice interpretation of the deck/pool building concept made so popular by games such as Dominion or Ascension.
Every player starts with an identical setup for his village and can activate the various buildings using a set of three dice. During the game various cards may be purchased to modify the village, allowing for different dice results.
Players can also hire mercenaries, found guilds, upgrade their buildings, complete missions and cast spells in order to gain trophies and win the game. All of this in frantic 20-minutes games."
(yes, I've added my own game, now that I can reveal it is getting published... )

From the publisher:
Quote: Heroes of Graxia is played similar to other deck-building card games, though is NOT a collectible card game at this time. Starting with a basic deck of twelve cards, players build their empire by buying with in-game resources (mana) the best cards to prepare them to out-maneuver other players to obtain trophies and prestige.
Heroes of Graxia will contain more than 240 unique cards, as well as miniatures in a deck-building theme. Obtain for your deck the best Weapons, Armor, Spells, Armies, Henchmen, and Mercenary cards. From Boardgamenews.com:
Quote: The success of Donald X. Vaccarino’s Dominion was sure to inspire other designers to try their hand at creating a deck-building game – that is, a game in which players create their own deck of action and resource cards during the game itself. Mike Elliott’s Thunderstone is one such game, as he acknowledged in a designer diary on BGN in December 2009, and that game has also found enthusiastic fans.
Daniel Kroegel’s Heroes of Graxia (2-6 players, 10+, 45-60 minutes, $35, August 2010) will be another take on the new genre.
