I just love the way this game describes what does having a bounty on your head mean:
Quote:

EFFECTS OF BOUNTIES

Wanted by the Authorities: Naval Ships will attack you.

Pirate Truce: NPC Pirates will no longer attack you.

Worth a lot of Gold: The amount of Bounties you have indicates how much Gold is paid for your head,

It is nice to know you are worth something.

Rather surprised no one mentioned Blood Bowl Team Manager's tiebreaker rules yet:

Quote:
[...]If there is still a tie, the Team Manager's Union suspects foul play and conducts an investigation. The TMU suspends each suspected (tied) manager indefinitely, and they lose all their fans. The TMU presents the "Manager of the Year" award to the remaining manager who gained the most fans and that manager wins the game instead!

If all managers are still tied (after checking for the most well-developed team), then the TMU loses all credibility, the fans revolt, and nobody wins the game!

After a mere decade of mostly lurkage, first time geeklister, so bear with me. I just had to add one of my all time favorites. (Maybe someday, I'll even get around to one of them avatar, thingies, nah.)

Quote:
Rule 1: Everything is Make-Believe
or What's This Roleplaying Stuff All About, Anyway?

Hello, gamers, Mr. Know-It-All here. When roleplayers play a game, they don't play the game themselves but pretend they are playing a game.Rocky: Huh? Well, Rock, everybody playing the game has a character. The character does all the stuff, while the player pretends what the character is doing.

When people get offended by my mentioning how much I love the bit about pretending to play a game, I tell them that it is a rule from a roleplaying (or I suppose storyteling) game, not from a boardgame, but that never seems to help.

Activate/Deactivate Equipment
When a player reveals this card, he may immediately
draw the top card from the equipment deck (if there is
an open cargo bay on his console) or discard an equipment card from a cargo bay on his console. Note that
smart players discard equipment cards into the
Equipment card discard pile while evolutionary stumps
place them in the Action card discard pile.

One that has been one of my favorites, and has been mentioned before in a similar list a few years back, is this gem from the end of the rulebook:

"One final note: players wishing to simulate the Odyssey, Homer's other great epic poem, may do so by, after they are finished playing Iliad, taking the Odysseus counter and tossing it in a random direction. Odysseus now has ten years to find his way back to the box."

Another little gem from the Battle of Beneventum Scenario:

Roman Flaming Pigs, or Bringin’ Home the Bacon
(Optional Rule)
Several sources—such as the usually unreliable Dionysius and the usually reliable H.H. Scullard—talk about the use of “flaming pigs” to distract and scare the elephants (war gamers already introduced to such items as Russian Tank Dogs and the Union Exploding Mules at Valverde will probably not bat an eye here). As everyone knows, elephants under strain have an unusual fear of small animals who make screeching noises. Someone appears to have experimented with the idea of letting a few porkers loose amongst the behemoths, as little else seemed to be working. When this had some effect, the military-industrial complex up-graded the system by tarring Old Porky with some pitch, setting him ablaze, letting him loose, and, then, abada, abada, abada, that’s all folks!! It seems the combination of burning ham hocks and squealing porkers was supposed to unnerve the elephants even more (perhaps this would have worked even better were the elephants kosher). Knowing that someone is sure to write in asking why we have not included this bit of arcana (which Scullard maintains is reasonably possible—even probable), we give you the opportunity to recreate this Great Moment in Military History.

At any two (2) times during the game the Roman Player, instead of issuing an Individual Order, may roll on the FLAMING PIG Table. This counts as an Individual Order . . . an Order of Pork Chops!!

The Flaming Pig Table
Die Roll - Pig from Hell
0 - {Game effect that causes the elephant to rampage randomly}
1–7 - No Effect, but breakfast is served
8 - {Game effect that irritates the elephant}
9 - {Game effect that really irritates the elephant}

Note: I paraphrased the Flaming Pig Table results as they really only have meaning if you've read the rules, except for the results of 1-7 which I left as written.

This was great!!! LOL

{Historical Note. Whenever the Rebel succeeds in eliminating an entire regular or crack legion , he has "captured the eagle." That means his victorious warriors have slaughtered the legionaries practically down to the last man and siezed the unit's identifying eagle standard. These were objects of great sacerdotal significance, and the Rebel should therefore observe each such seizure by looking his apponent squarely in the eyes and saying, in his deepest and manliest voice, something like: "Nyah, nyah,nyah,nyah,nyaaaah! I gotcher eagle!"}
