Wargaming Cover Art of Rodger B. MacGowan
THE MAVERICK
Afghanistan (Currently far from) Herald California
-
Recently (actually, circa January 2005) a list was started up to acknowledge game illustrators. When I went to add Rodger B. MacGowan to that list, it was pretty hard to choose just one picture to represent his work.
Hence this list - a gallery of MacGowan's non-GMT wargame cover art from the past 30+ years. If you see your favorite MacGowan cover here, let us know why you think it is his best!
Please help improve this list -- if I left out one of your favorite covers or if you submit an improved image, let me know and I will add it to the list.
For a summary listing MacGowan's entire body of wargaming artwork, see my List Comment below or his BGG database entry.
UPDATED FEB 2010: Added many improved images and missing games!

If we are talking "boxcover art " as in "art" tracing photos and pics isnt a great claim to fame.....theres some absolute classics out there and one that springs to mind is the cover of 3Ws Rorkes drift..now that painting is art....I have looked at that..and it is a massive painting one of the biggest Ive ever seen ..for many many hours thats wargame cover art at its best....
BUT Hey great list !!!!
It is defintely the box cover that always attracts me to look in the 1st place...wether I buy was up to the contents but Id always look at the catch the eye covered games before a plain envelope for example...
But in todays world we have the geek website to give us all the info and comments so art isnt a drawcard anywhere near as much as say the 80ts when I bought a heap of games from stores ....
