Welcome everyone to the October Edition of the Geekgold for Game Lottery. Thanks Blott for the amazing Idea and thanks everyone who took part last time.

These are the Rules

How to bid for an item?
If you see an item on this geeklist that you're interested in owning:
1. It couldn't be more simple. Just tip that entry 1 and you are entered to win that game.
2. Check the description to see if you are allowed more than one entry on the item.

How to put an item on the lottery?
If you have a game that you're willing to part with for a little geekgold:
1. Post it as an item on the list.
2. Include a full description of the edition that you have and its condition. Be very clear on conditions, marks and box
3. Specify if you will be limited in shipping options. If you ship internationally, if the shipping is on you, and if so how much.
4. Specify when your item will close for entries.
5. You can post both RPG Items and Boardgames.
6. The item must be draw before 31st of October 2009

What to do when the lottery ends?
1. When closed, draw a random name from those that have tipped your entry. If you allowed multiple entries remember to take it in consideration.
2. Contact that person and arrange shipment of the game.
3. Send them the game.
4. Edit your geeklist item on this list with a note saying that "THIS ITEM IS CLOSED!" and to put the avatar of the winner, use the code [ username=name_of_winner] (without the space) for that.
5. When an item is closed I will move it to the bottom of the list. Please don't delete them

How to find the winner?
You can use any fair method you like, like putting the names on a hat and drawing it.

created an wonderful application that you can find here. It is very simple to use.
1. Got to the url by clicking here.
2. When you mouseover on the number of your item, you get a URL like this
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/46332/item/1043139#ite....
Your item id is the number after item, in this case it would be 1043139
3. As for bonus, for now the system can only work with given 1 for a given number of . For example, every 5 gets you 1 bonus.
4. You can limit too the amount of a user will be able to use to enter the contest

Special notes
Special Note #1: If you are giving an item, there is no guarantee for number of entrants. You must be prepared to give away your game even if you only receive a single geekgold entry. Do not enter a game unless you are prepared for that outcome!!

Special Note #2: If for any reason you are forced to withdraw a game you offered, you must refund all geekgold tipped to your entry.

Winners and Drawn Items
I will keep an item as the first item on this list keeping a link to all already drawn items and the winners so it is easier to check.

THIS EXHIBIT IS CLOSED!! I WILL DRAW THE WINNERS SHORTLY

I just realized I have two of these lying around. They are still in shrink and in perfect condition.

Enter as many times as you like. 1GG will equal an entry. People seem to like this whole "bonus entry" stuff, so every 5GG thrown in the pot will equal another entry.

I will draw TWO winners and then send these out. Since I can throw them into an envelope, I will cover all shipping costs, regardless of where they are going.

I will keep this going until 10/30, then draw the winners and send them out on Halloween.

Good luck to all of you.

*EDIT* I will be picking this at some point in the evening on the 30th.

Condition: Like New.
I opened the game, punched the chits and units out and bagged them, read the rules, then realized that even though I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan this isn't the war game I was looking for to replace Axis and Allies. I was going to list this on EBAY (my seller name there is the same as my screen name and I'm a Power Seller so please bid your GG with confidence!) but this seemed like a much cooler way to make room in my games closet for the half dozen new games on the way. Other than the missing shrink wrap and already punched and bagged pieces this game is new.

Shipping: On me.
I really hope I don't take a wash on this since the box is large and heavy, but what the heck. I'll ship USPS Parcel Post ANYWHERE FOR FREE.

The drawing will close at 11:59 A.M. October 31st. 1GG gets you 1 entry, 3 gets you 4 and 5 gets you 7. Anything beyond 5 gets you whatever it works out to. i.e. 8 gets you 11 entries, 10 gets you 14 etc. I'll put your entries on a spreadsheet, cut them out with the papercutter at the library where I work and have one of my fellow librarians pull a name out of my Red Sox hat. In the event there are too many to fit in said hat I'll use an appropriately sized container of my choice.

Please, help a new user get some literary badges and an avatar, and most of all, good luck.

edited because I typed 31 as 13 for the end date. whoops.
2nd edit to include free shipping anywhere as opposed to free for U.S bidders only.

Congratulations!

Drawing method: I used the lottery tool to create a randomized list of people and then used random.org to get a random number I looked up in the list. I won't post screenshots, cause they would not prove anything.

For all those who failed to get this in the september lottery, I have one surplus Ghost Stories: The Guardhouse Expansion.

Condition: Unplayed, still in wrap.

Shipping: Free worldwide shipping!

Bidding: 1 per entry, multiple entries allowed.

Closes: 31. October 2009, 12:00 MET, winner will be drawn via random.org on the same day.

Ah, and don't forget to thumb and print out the fantastic rule sheet provided by badgeguy!

It is the German Phalanx Edition.

I printed the rules in English, bagged the cubes and chits, played half a game and that's it. But when shipping it, a rubber band melted in the box and ripped a tiny corner of a canoe : (. Besides that it is in great condition.

I'll ship for free in the US and abroad for GG/Paypal.
(we'll figure that out if anyone abroad actually bids and whatever is more convenient to you).

1 = 1 Entry Multiple entries allowed.
I think I'll end this October 31st.

Please help me get a sweet welsh corgi microbadge!

I just remembered that I have an extra one of these because my friend Ryan got me one for my birthday this year without knowing that I'd already bought it. It is new with the deck still in its original factory shrink wrap.

It's certainly no War of the Ring but it's "essential" for fans of Power Grid. I won't play Grid anymore without using the expansion deck because it replaces a lot of the really awful plants that came with the base game. I'm talking to you plant number 6. I mean, 1 garbage for 1 city? Really? Who would ever use that plant?

I'll run this lottery with the same rules as the one I have running for War of the Ring. Shipping will be free to anyone anywhere. The auction will end at 11:59 A.M. October 31st. Each GG gets you 1 entry, 3 gets you 4 and 5 gets you 7. There are quite a few games listed in this lottery that I'm bidding on so anything I get from this lottery is going right back in. I'm even selling money on the Geek Bazaar right now to try and get more Gold. If anyone wants to sell some GG I'm offering $10 via paypal with a starting bid of 50GG. I'd like to thank everyone for making this lottery so much fun and offering the great games y'all have been putting up for grabs. I love this site!

Condition:
The game is in near perfect condition. I'm guessing it's been played a couple of times at most. The box shows almost no wear and all corners are intact.

OR... any one of the following:

Anima - Shadow of the Omega: Excellent condition.
Game of Thrones LCG - War of the Five Kings Chapter Pack: Excellent condition.
Battlelore - Earth Elemental: Like new. Comes in original blister packaging.
Confrontation - Age of Rag'Narok: New. Starter set as shown.
Golfmania: Thin box has wear, but components in very good condition.
GoLong Football Dice Game: Very good condition. Includes everything but original plastic shell. I don't think this shell was meant to be kept anyway.
When Darkness Comes: Very good condition. Everything bagged nice & neat.

EDIT: See above. Since this one seems to have died down a bit well before the closing date of 10/31/09, I've decided to spice things up a little by offering a few more choices to the winner of this auction. Shipping/Bidding options remain the same.

Bidding:
One Geekgold= One entry. Multiple entries are allowed. I will close bidding on October 31st.

Shipping:
I will cover shipping to anywhere to the tune of one $1 for evey ten raised. Winner pays any difference or can pay 10 for every $1 difference.

EDIT #2: Since this auction has come to a standstill, I'm ending this one early. With 146 participants,
THIS AUCTION IS CLOSED

OK, gonna try something a little strange here...

This GeekGold lottery is going to be for a Mystery Box from yours truly. While the contents of said box are going to be a "mystery", I guarantee that there WILL be games in the box, and game related material - along with some crazy stuff as well.

Here is the catch however:

The more GG I get, the better the contents of the box, in 50 GG increments. What I am saying is that if I get less than 50 geekgold for the mystery box, you will still get some games, but don't expect anything amazing. This lottery gets up to 100, well then you are talking about getting at least one decent game - something you would play and not be ashamed to have in your collection. As the total climbs, so will the reward - if this thing hits my Age of Conan level of interest, well my work will be cut out for me, won't it?

I am going to let this baby run the entire month of October - drawing will be held the day after Halloween. I will cover the shipping costs to the US - international people will get the first $10 on me.

Once I have a winner, I will try and look at their collection and interests and pick things they will enjoy, but I cannot guarantee anything.

After all, it is supposed to be a MYSTERY!!! (insert spooky music here)

Good luck to you all!

*oops* Sorry - enter as many times as you like, 1gg = one entry.

Wow. 100 gg already.

I reserve the right to give hints and incentives to see this sucker climb.

Such as...what if I were to say that if this hits 500 gg the prize will contain at least 1 game in the top 40 of the rankings here at the geek...would that be something you would be interested in?

Edit - well we have slowed down a little. I was a bit worried I was going to be getting 200 gg a day on this one and have to give away my entire collection.

Edit#2 - almost 400. I am as fascinated as any of you. Good thing I will be just dumping this stuff right back into the mix for other GG auctions.

Edit#3 - I have come to the conclusion that this is going to climb very high, and 500 gg will be met rather soon. I may have to cap the offer at some point. What do the rest of you think? Maybe if it hits 1000gg I can cap the offer at that point (insanity I know) and I could offer two mystery boxes?

Let me know what you think.

Edit#4 - ok I thought this over and this is what I have decided. Since we met 500gg, that means I will put together one mystery box that will contain one "highly rated" game and some other mystery stuff. At this point, anything above and beyone the first 500 means I will put together another mystery box with the same criteria as before - it gets progressively better in 50gg increments. So right now the box will still have a game in it, and while it won't completely suck, it really won't compare to the big box. If, somehow, this offer climbs to 1000gg, I will end the auction and draw right then and there - if it goes over 1000gg before I can close it, there will be no 3rd box, but those entries will still count towards a chance to win.

Now then - my final question is this - should one person be able to win both boxes? Or does winning the first one disqualify them for the second? This isn't a vote or a poll, I just want to hear your thoughts and then I will make up my mind.

Edit#5 OK - only one box to a person. Right now we have hit 50 for the second box. Looking forward so seeing how this one turns out.

Edit#6 198 more GG and we can shut this one down and pick our two winners. Can you feel the excitement?

Edit #7 Jeezum Crow! I go home from work and in the couple of hours I only need 48GG more. I have a feeling I will be drawing the winner this weekend.

Edit#8 OK we are over 1000 but I have a few things to take care of before I can do the draw. If anyone still wants to enter you have a few hours until I can take care of some family business. I am only doing this because some people have stated that they wanted to submit some things and then enter this weekend.

THIS EXHIBIT IS CLOSED!!

Gimme a bit to get the winners chosen...this may take awhile.

Thanks for waiting...click on the video to watch my daughter in action...I will post the winners shortly and GM them at the same time.

Protect your favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages from the Mythos...

Don't have any games but I can offer these...

You'll get four Elder Sign Pint Glasses etched/created by me. The pint glasses are of heat-treated glass so they're a bit tougher than regular glass (although I wouldn't recommend dropping them).

Offer closes sometime on Friday October 2, random entry picked, not guaranteed to actually protect you from the Mythos, don't place pint glasses on game board, game, Cthulhu statue, and room temperature coffee not included, etc.

Shipping is free in the lower 48 United States (sorry Alaska, Hawaii) and I'll replace any if broken during shipping. No limit on GG for entries.

Geek gold will be donated to my gf for an avatar/badges and generously tipped back into the community.

Okay, I'll give it a try as well. I'd like to get enough GG for an avatar (but I don't want to beg for it).

So, without further ado:

Up for your consideration is a
Wonderful Collection of Card Games

First up is Dungeoneer: Tomb of the Lich Lord. This is the first edition of the game. (The box looks like the picture.)
It's in good shape, but the box is mangled. The counters have been cut out and are in a little baggie.

Next we have Saga. This game is new, in shrink!

Last we have Jericho. This game is also new, in shrink!

1 = 1 entry. Enter as often as you'd like

The drawing will be in two weeks, on Oct 1, 2009 at around 8:00 PM PST.

S&H: I will pay for shipping to the USA. International shipping will cost 5 more GG (or a couple of dollars via PayPal).

Thanks and have fun!

---
Edit: I wanted to thank everyone that's entered! You guys are pretty awesome! I was only really hoping for enough for an avatar, but you've gone far and above that! Now I really have to put some thought into what avatar I want.
(I also fixed a spelling error (counter = counters))

A Cheapass Games trifecta: Lord of the Fries (older paper envelope edition), The Great Brain Robbery, and Unexploded Cow (both cardboard-boxed):

Plus Looney Labs bonus extras: Cosmic Coasters and Q-Turn

Condition: All components are present and in excellent condition, keeping in mind that cheapass stuff isn't the height of production quality to begin with. Lord of the Fries' cards are still in the original paper bindings. The Cosmic Coasters are unpackaged (loose), and have been occasionally used as coasters (and done a fine job of it). The front of the box for Unexploded Cow is a bit scuffed with something green (crayon?). The Lord of the Fries envelope has a blank sticker (overlaying a "from the game library of" address-label).

Shipping: Shipping will also be cheapass, with games put into a large envelope. (In the US, winner pays $2 / 20 towards shipping. International: winner pays full shipping.)

However: If the total lottery for this item hits 40 or more, I'll cover $2 of the shipping. (Such magnanimity, I know. I just want to be consistent with the other things I'm offering.)

Entries: 1 for 1 entry, no limit. For every 5, you get an additional free entry on this item and on any other October Lottery items of mine you're involved in.

Timing: The drawing for these games is CLOSED.

Winner: The random draw [random.org, range 1 to 96] is 38, which (assuming I can count) makes the winner:

A set of six contentious card games - well, five card games and a tile game, most of which are contentious. But who's counting?

You've probably already heard of Lunch Money.

Masquerade is a neat little proxy-fight between avatars, with spellcasting, violence, and role-choosing tactics.

Overthrone is a cross between a trick-taking game and a game of court intrigue. Nearly everyone who enjoys the game agrees that the rules are terribly written, but happily, BGG has a rules + FAQ PDF that someone has thoughtfully crafted.

Honor of the Samurai is a card game about honor-armies-war-politics in feudal japan. Yes, it also has ninja.

Klunker (aka Schaufenster) is a card game of offers and set-collection by Uwe Rosenberg.

Orcz is a non-card game about Orc tribes warring against the dwarves, humans, elves, and other do-gooders - and stabbing each other in the back during the fight in order to claim the greatest share of the spoils of war.

Condition: The Orcz components are fine (so far as I can tell by playing the game; there's not a full component list) but the box is creased on several sides. All other games are in excellent condition with all pieces.

Shipping: US: winner pays $8 / 80 towards shipping. International: winner pays full shipping.

However: If the total lottery for this item hits 150 or more, I'll be so overjoyed that I'll pay for free shipping in the US, or $8 towards international shipping.

Entries: 1 for 1 entry, no limit. For every 5, you get an additional free entry on this item and on any other October Lottery items of mine you're involved in.

Timing: The drawing for these games is CLOSED.

Winner: The random draw [random.org, range 1 to 249] is 72, which (assuming I can count) makes the winner:

Joint item: Hacker plus Hacker II: The Dark Side.

I love 'em for the nostalgia and the in-jokes, but never seem to play them anymore - so I figure I ought to find them a good home where they can be more appreciated.

Condition: All critical components (systems, special cards, computer boards, upgrades, rulebooks) plus black ICE counters and +security markers are counted and present. All tokens where exact count is not critical to play are inventoried, bagged, and present in approximately correct numbers, but I'll be honest: I didn't have the energy to count every single last one. A few counters have a bit of tearing, but other than that all components are in excellent condition. The boxes are a bit beat up.

Shipping: US: winner pays $5 / 50 towards shipping. International: winner pays full shipping.

However: If the total lottery for this item hits 100 or more, I'll be so overjoyed that I'll pay for free shipping in the US, or $5 towards international shipping. Likewise if you really don't care about the boxes and just want all the components packed into a large bubblewrap-lined envelope.

Entries: 1 for 1 entry, no limit. For every 5, you get an additional free entry on this item and on any other October Lottery items of mine you're involved in.

Timing: The drawing for these games is CLOSED.

Winner: The random draw [random.org, range 1 to 192] is 86, which (assuming I can count) makes the winner:

...and one final prize, not posted last night only due to the vagaries of BGG maintenance windows!

I'm guessing this is the first edition of Cranium, as I'm not seeing an edition number. The box is like the one pictured at left (minus the flag; it's the US edition), and the copyrights mention 1998 and 2001.

Condition: Overall in excellent condition; it's been played two or three times at the most. The bottom of the box is a bit scuffed. The clay (for sculpting) is still soft and pliable. It even still has the original pencils! A few of the sheets from the provided pad of paper have been used.

Shipping: US: winner pays $8 / 80 towards shipping. International: winner pays full shipping.

However: If the total lottery for this item hits 150 or more, I'll be so overjoyed that I'll pay for free shipping in the US, or $8 towards international shipping. I will also be so astonished that I will break into singing "Gamers Surprise You in All Sorts of Ways", a short song which I will make up on the spot.

Entries: 1 for 1 entry, no limit. For every 5, you get an additional free entry on this item and on any other October Lottery items of mine you're involved in.

Timing: The drawing for this game is CLOSED.

Winner: The random draw [random.org, range 1 to 4] is 3, which makes the winner:
