All Available Pandemic Roles
- Matt Posey(mst3k4L)United States
Pandemic came out, people were thinking of new Roles for the game. The number of ideas for Roles only increased when Pandemic: On the Brink came out due to the two blank Role cards. Although I always enjoy seeing the creative Roles we geeks come up with, it was hard to find all the ideas. Some people posted their ideas as pictures, others posted them in forums, and some even posted their ideas in files. There was no one location to find all these ideas. This geeklist was meant to change all that.
Each item is a Role that is either commercially available or was thought of by a user and put on the Geek. Some of the Roles are used in certain variants, so their abilities might not be initially clear. I have also posted a few polls after for each item to see what this community thinks of the roles. The first poll is fairly straight forward, but let me clear up some of the inevitable confusion over the second poll.
Even though all of the Roles can be powerful, their usefulness can greatly depend on how many people are playing. For example: The Scientist is not as helpful in a two player game because each player draws more cards, making it is easier to get 5 cards of one color. Is the Scientist still powerful and helpful? Yes, but it is just not as useful. Likewise, it can be said that the Troubleshooter is not as useful in a five player game because that player can only look at 20% of the Infection Deck, as opposed to a two player game when the player looks at 50% of the Infection Deck. Again, it is still a good role, but it is just not as useful. So do you think that any of the roles have varying degrees of usefulness depending on the number of players?
Feel free to add any other Roles to this geeklist that I might have missed or that you have created after the initial posting. There are a few rules for posting Roles though:
1) You can only post a role if you created it, it is already available somewhere on the geek, or you have the creator's permission
2) Do not post a role if it is a retheme of a role or requires a completely different rule set to play. Minor changes to gameplay are acceptable (such as the Psychologist and Terrorist).
3) If the role is posted somewhere else on the geek, please post a link to the forum/file where you found it, or have the picture for the item be the link. Give credit where credit is due.
