I suppose the phrase "pimped out" should be made clear, at least as I understand it, here on BGG. It does not mean that you are putting your game out on the street to turn tricks for sleazy gamers who can't get games on their own.

It means you have altered your game in some fashion to enhance it to your personal taste, using any method you choose, from adding new playing pieces, painting items, or attaching terrain. Anything that changes it from the way it came out of the box from the manufacturer.

Everyone sees Last Night On Earth "pimped out", as well as such games as Battlelore, Memoir 44, and Space Hulk.

I am wanting to draw attention to lesser known games that you have personally "pimped out", or have seen here on BGG altered in some ways to make unique.

Please add your game or a game you know of to the list.

Just to clarify- you do not have to be the person who did the pimping- feel free to submit an example you have seen here on BGG.

Das motorposrtspiel have been pimped with MicroMachgine cars instead of the included Herpa cars (which can't take the handling you use in the game). I have everything from oldsmobiles to Formula One cars, including my personal favourite a porsche.

In addition we have made 7 new tracks (A1-Ring, Adelaide, Anderstorp, Catalunya, Eastern Creek, Indianapolis and Sepang), and have three works in progress (Bahrein, Hungary and Kyalami). All the tracks can be found in the Yahoo group http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Motorsportspiel/files/Tr...

There is a lot of game text here that *should* be on the cards. Using the typical Tarot deck leads to a lot of rulebook consultation, which is a real drag.

So I made my own custom Zarcana deck. (EDIT: fixed)

I need to upload a better picture of these cards in use. This one's kinda murky.

Believe it or not, APBA Pro Football's been a part of my life for, well, exactly 30 years, as today is my 30th birthday. My dad joined a league before I was born, and that league, I'm happy to say, is still going strong. That's right - 30 continuous years of APBA Pro Football, featuring usually around 10 teams a season, with an annual draft, playoffs and championship game.

But that aside, the game is really just dicing. Each NFL player is represented by a card with numbers corresponding to two D6 possibilities - 11 through 66. Play is simple. The offense and defense call plays, the offensive play and involved players revealed, dice rolled, and a result found on corresponding charts. The actual play result is the combination of several factors:

1) Relative offensive strength compared to defense
2) Part of the field on which the play occurs
3) Defensive alignment
4) Quarter in which the play occurs
5) Distinct play type
6) Player-card used to look up play results

In any given situation, there will be one, and exactly one, best-chance, highest-probability play to select. This can be mitigated by a defensive call, but in the end, there is usually one best play that can be called in any situation. As a way to give me a good idea of what that play might be - across all variables - for each of my players, I recently pimped my copy by providing a complete statistical report of each of those possibilities. This was accomplished through a combination of SQL Server and Reporting Services, backing all possible play combinations with a full data model, and providing useful lookups via published reports. The reports were designed so that every year, I need only add the relevant card results 11-36 and run the reports.

In the end, each report looks similar to this:

For the guys on my team this year that can run or pass, and for every other variable, the complete report suite ended up at around 150 pages.

Is this really as boring as it sounds? Yes indeed. snore

But when I know I've got an extra 2.8% chance of getting that 3 yards running Chris Johnson inside in the 3rd quarter on the B chart in the middle part of the field rather than going for the short pass, it makes the hours of database entry, query design and reporting allllll worth it. laugh

El Grande, the Eighth Wonder of the World!
Gotta admit that is pretty cool. Nysalor knows how to pimp!

I think the original El Grande piece looks a bit too much like a device to block rear entry, if you know what I mean. Embarrasses me to handle it in the wrong crowd.

But THIS El Grande is sweeeeeet!

Lots of guys got their game (pimp) on and let it fly!

Check out this paint work on this lost gem of a game!

This game really faded fast after it hit the market. I bought mine on clearance at TRU for about 9 bucks years ago.

I really think if this came out today it would do SO MUCH better.

Oh well, good game, bad timing.

Good pimping, Bruce!

Lots of pimping possibilities here!

I own this game- I bought it out of a store window in Daytona Beach, FL in 1986, after first driving home, then turning around and driving 20 miles back to buy it.

Love the game! Sure, it is simple and child-like (much like myself), but, as is said so often here on BGG, it is dripping with theme.

As cool as the factory 3D board is, Rodney here has gone super-pimping. Check out his ultra- fantastic homemade 3D board:

Now is that too much, or what?

My purple hat with a feather is off to you, my pimping friend.

The original pawns looked like little cowboys.shake

So, I got some little people pawns, glued wood discs to them for shields, glued sharpened wood dowls to them for spears, and painted them. Now they look like proper knights of the Enchanted Forest.meeple

We like to play a variant I brought to the game called A Dragon is in the Forest. To play it, we needed a little dragon, a magic token to control the dragon, and we added a magic blue dragon fly to transport you to the castle key.

The dragon can be moved and if it lands on someone, they are sent back to the village. Even more useful is the fact that the dragon can block the path of anyone without the magic token.

The dragon token was made from a bracelet charm. I puchased it with this game in mind. I removed the little attachment ring and superglued the dragon charm to a blue glass bead. I then purchased the blue moon and blue dragon fly to complete the variant mod.
