Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Arrived home this morning from my final night shift to find a large parcel in the hallway. After debating with my conscience for a total of 10 seconds I ripped the box open to discover a shiny gift wrapped box. This added to my christmas conscience so now its sitting where my tree will stand waiting for christmas, for now...

Thanks Santa

0910 hours. The dog barks in the backyard.

This is often, but not always, a sign of someone coming to the door. This morning, it was the FedEx driver leaving a box which was quite heavy for its size. Ah, I thought, this must be... yes, it's from Thought Hammer!

My husband hadn't left for work yet and helped me lift this behemoth from the midst of the packing peanuts! What a wonderful surprise since it was a last minute addition to my WishList. I can hardly wait to give this a try.

Thank you, Secret Santa; I'm thrilled with the gift. My family and I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas.

MY SECRET SANTA ROCKS!!!!

I had Thanksgiving at my house for 25 people! (Wifes idea) I had to purchase a kerosene heater for the garage to keep everyone warm during the meal. It was very stressful day. I deep fried a Turkey without burning down the house or myself. It took a long time to clean up last night and we did not get to bed at a reasonable time. My kids then woke me up at 0800 today to tell me that a Fed Ex man showed up with a brown box. Inside was the game I have been drooling over for some time: STEAM!

My son also noted other game expansions were noted in the packing peanuts! I also recieved the following:

My Secret Santa is the best. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Today is a great day!laughlaughlaughlaughlaugh

Thank you Secret Santa! FITS was easily, far and away, the highest item on my Wishlist. I was thrilled to open my Secret Santa package and find both FITS and a copy of Middle Kingdom by Z-Man.

FITS is such a great fit (groan) for our family. As soon as I opened the package and saw the game, I tore off the wrapping and had Trish and Ben playing in under a minute. We've already gotten a lot of value out of the gift, and it's destined to see heavy rotation at our family game sessions.

Thanks again, Secret Santa, for sending along such a great game, and including Middle Kingdom as a very thoughtful addition.

Santa arrived today dressed up as the hot blonde postal worker who works my area. She had a box filled with packing peanuts, two beautifully wrapped presents, a candy cane and a card. Santa knows I am good but also knows I am bad enough that I couldn't wait to open everything! Packing peanuts went everywhere. It was a joyous massacre. When I unwrapped my packages I found I had Puerto Rico and Endeavor! I can't wait to start playing these. The candy cane..sadly didn't make it.

One side of what?
mbmbmbmbmb
This year I have an Amazing Secret Santa. First of all I got this delightful message the day that the targets were assigned:

Quote:
Have you been good this year? This page says no: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2349763/

Oh wait, that's the wrong Mulan... Santa blames Google...

Santa googled my name... that's a sentence you don't to say very often. Well, the result is a bit shocking to say the least but it really brought a smile to my face for the whole day. Next came this well written and well thought out taunt:

Quote:
My Elves have informed me that you have been confirmed as a last minute addition to the "nice" list. Congratulations.

As soon as your name was added to the list a package was scheduled to be shipped out as soon as possible. The Elvish union in the UK doesn't work on the weekends, so that will probably be some time tomorrow.

We at Santa Industries are always trying to improve ourselves, you can help by agreeing to be part of the Periodical Reviewing of Elvish Standards, Ensuring Nice and Timely Shipments (PRESENTS). Please let us know when the shipment arrives so that we can complete the review of the Elvish union in the UK.

Do try to stay on the Nice list, it's ever so hard to cancel these shipments. Then the union complains, grievances are filed, and really it's just a mess.

But Santa did not just send me a geekmail, he also sent me a link to a special video message for me. However, I was unable to play it back due to some internet issue, so my Santa, being the totally awesomely mysterious person s/he is told me this:

Quote:
I also wanted to tell you to expect a series of "interesting gifts" some edible, some functional, some comical. I'll let you decide which is which. Just in case some of the "interesting gifts" arrive before the larger gift which is in store for you, I didn't want you to get disappointed.

Happy holidays,
Secret Santa aka Hidden Hanukah Harry

A Series of "Interesting" Gifts? I was totally psyked. Yesterday a large parcel arrived and I found two nicely gift-wrapped games from my SS:

Now, I haven't actually opened my boardgame gifts yet, but from what I can gather from the size, and from the sound of the cardboard shuffling inside I am 99% sure they are games. Two games is more than what I had gotten in previous years. I am eager to find out what they are but resisted the urge to open them (oh, and the insane amount of work that day also helped me from lifting my eager fingers against the wrappings).

Today, I go two very strange items in the post. I was very puzzled by their appearance because I was not expecting them, but I soon realize they were from my Lovely Santa. First up something to keep me warm in this miserable British weather:

I am pretty sure this is not just a random advertisement item because it was addressed to Dr. M Wong. Although I am studying for a doctorate, I haven't got my degree yet (hopefully soon though) and I never referred to myself under that title. The teabags are nice (probably counts as something edible), but what really made my day are these:

I got my personalized business cards! I never had name-cards before and these are just... PERFECT! Not only, did my SS went through the trouble of ordering them for me (using the scant details I put up on the geek), but he also used an nice image from the animation which my avatar comes from for the card back! These made me chuckle all day when ever I thought about them. I am going to show these off to my group in the next game night--they will be insanely jealous. I am now a certified "Official Board Game Geek"! Woohoo! Now, I don't know how to categorize the cards as "functional" or "comical", but it seems that there are more presents to come. Can't wait to see what else is in store for me, but my Brilliant SS has already gone beyond my wildest expectations.

Thank You Ever So Much My Spectacular Secret Santa for Making This Christmas So Special! YOU ROCK!!

EDIT: Santa did not stop at the tea and name-cards. I also got in the post: a pack of "Taylors Lazy Sunday Ground Coffee" and a mini bottle of "Baileys". You are an incredible Santa who has made this holiday season especially special in so many ways!

The two games I received are: Power Grid: Factory Manager and Ghost Stories: White Moon, both of which are very high on my wishlist and I will definitely have them hit the table asap! THANKS AGAIN SANTA!

Wow! Santa was on fire this year, as his sleigh has already hit my house! Santa is a very smart, and determined that I might be tempted to peak. So Santa sent a multi-part gift down the chimney (or at my front door) Included was a copy of Ticket to Ride Europa 1912 expansion to give me that instant gratification, which has been opened, smelled, fiddled with, and is as we speak about to get played. All this distraction of a new game has kept Santa's wishes intact, and the second gift which is wrapped with a warning about peaking, is safely under the tree!

(Now Santa said not to peak at my present, but the envelope in the package that contains what I assume is a gift receipt has not been made off limits...Oh wait, it says "don't open this until after you open your present" printed right on it.... Tricksy elves, I thought I found a loophole!)

Update: Another box from Santa?? Wow! He must have been watching all those times I stopped to help people broken down on the side of the road this year, and put me on the extra nice list!

Update a week later than planned: Well I didn't get to open my other gifts until this weekend, since we were waiting to have our family Christmas until we were all at home together, and then I got called out of town for work before the eldest spawn got back from Grandmas house....

So, open up the first box... Looting London!! I didn't even remember putting this on my wishlist, since it was one of those "this looks cool, I'll wishlist it to remind me to check it later... What a fun little game! It has been received quite well by the girls and will be well used in the future it looks like.

Now what's this? a package all wrapped up in some beautiful purple paper, surrounded by purple tissue paper? A purple deck box? Sweet! I needed more purple card sleeves, what an awesome gift...wait a tick...these aren't sleeves...these are PURPLE ZOMBIES FOR LAST NIGHT ON EARTH!!!!!!!!HOW FREEKIN' SWEET IS THAT!!!! Now it looks silly since I will have to leave my painted zombies in the box, in order to play with the far superior purple guys.

I can't say thank you enough times to justify that gift!

Second best gift of the year! (Sorry, my three year old made me a tree out of pipe cleaners and pony beads that beat you out, but only by a little bit!)

A package was waiting for me when I came home from lunch. I debated waiting to open it, and told myself if it was gift wrapped I would try to, even if I knew that was probably unrealistic. Inside I found not only this but Chaos in the Old World and Set. I have already taught Set to my roommates, and tore into Seaside. Unfortunately, my girlfriend "borrowed" Dominion and Intrigue to take to her parents for the weekend, so I will have to patiently wait until Sunday night for a game. I am going to try to get Chaos in the Old World played over the weekend, but do not think that it is very likely. We have our weekly D&D game tomorrow night, then meeting with a friend from out of town on Sunday with a larger game group. Hmm, maybe if we have to split into three and three…

Thank you Santa, not only for the great gifts but also setting high expectations for future SS's I may participate in!

SO here I am, after a long day of shopping with my wife and her friends, needless to say not stopping anywhere that contains a store that might maintain my interest. I dropped my phone in the sink at a department store, and had to pay the "replacement fee," and I am starting to think this could be one of the worst Black Fridays ever... And THEN I get ready to go obtain some dinner, and "What is this??!!" A Beautiful package from Boards and Bits sits on my doorstep!!!

(Sorry Santa, I had to open it!!!! I hope you'll forgive me! I wait all the way till Christmas for the rest!)

I open the box and, while squealing with delight I find Roma!!!!! inside!! I am very excited for this one, as I have been looking forward to picking up some more card games! And then I start to move the box aside and I feel the weight shift a little.. so I investigate further and find a SECOND gift, Race for the Galaxy!!!

I am quite excited to bust these open once I finish my final paper for my Ancient Greek Civilization class and, (maybe) before I have to start studying for Finals!!!

Thanks so much Secret Santa!!!

Thank you Santa! You sent a note earlier this week and it got here on the day of the extended family Christmas party. I will admit that Dominion: Intrigue was #1 on my personal want list. I've played Dominion quite a few times face to face and I wanted to be able to play with 5 if that situation ever came up. I can't count the times that I started to play but gave my hand to a teen at church that came to the table just as the game was starting. I can now adjust the game so that I can also play.

But, it doesn't end there.

Santa graciously also included Dominion: Seaside.

Dominion: Seaside
I was just going to put that on my Christmas list to send to my family. Now, I can actually play Dominion with my family over break now and in December. Thanks once again Santa!

Woke up to one of Santa's minions today holding a ThoughtHammer box. Hmm wonder what that could be? I just couldn't resist the temptation to bust the box open and discovered that enclosed was a copy of Agricola and corresponding Animeeple set. WOW
THANKS SANTA

I can already say its going to be a great holiday season.

This was the comment I left for the game on my wishlist. "My girlfriend loves farming. This game would be another opportunity to get to the coffee table and get some gaming on."

Merry Christmas Santa, safe travels.

Thanks to the Thoughthammer elf (aka "Thought Marillo"), I've got a brand-spankin' new copy of the Haba classic, Chicken Squabble. (I like this game so much that I reviewed it on my blog! - http://akapastorguy.blogspot.com/2009/11/mia-2-chicken-squab...

Thank you, Secret Santa... I've already played the game with my boys - and my 4 year old won!

Thank you Secret Santa! Vinci had always been on my want to play list for ages but it never happened being out of print. Once Small World come out I knew I needed to try it out. One of my gaming groups definitely enjoys the empire building games but we don't get as much time to game as we'd like so I thought something like Small World would work for us. I played my first game today and it was a lot of fun and pretty quick!

It will definitely be getting a few more sessions during the Xmas holidays Thanks again, Secret Santa!!!
