Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Santa's elves used FedEx to get my package here before the sleigh was even dusted off and brought out of the shed for its annual tune-up...

I was able to watch its progress and knew where it was every moment after Santa sent a special tracking message. I was able to, even ever-so-briefly, hold it in my hands. And then my wife decided that if it was indeed an unknown quantity and not something I bought for myself, it must be set aside and opened on the appropriate day. While I thought today was quite appropriate as far as days go, she disagreed.

So now, after tracking its progress from Ohio to my door step, I don't know where it is, and I must wait impatiently until she allows me to open it! cry

Thank you Santa! I'm looking forward to opening it!

Edit:[b] ...and I suppose my wife was feeling somewhat sorry for keeping the secret from me for so very, very long (okay, probably not...)

We open gifts from the immediate family on Christmas Eve, and when the Secret Santa package was distributed to me in turn, she didn't make the kids put it back under the tree along with stuff from our extended family, to be opened tomorrow morning after we go through the loot left by the ever-elusive but not quite so secret Santa on his regular rounds.

I quickly unwrapped the Boards & Bits box that I had held so briefly before, and found Small World, as I had hoped for (despite not providing any extra indication... that Secret Santa can be tricky!)

Also in the box were the expansions Grand Dames of Small World and Cursed!:

Everything is punched, and I'm looking forward to playing the game as soon as I can!

Thanks again Secret Santa!

I was shocked and amazed to tear open the wrapping on this game, delivered today from my Secret Santa! I was really excited for this game and a bit sad that it would be some time before I would own it. One of those games you try to put out of your mind since you know you won't be buying it any time soon. I had downloaded the rules, but avoided reading them because I knew it would make me want to play.

But now I have it! Courtesy of my Secret Santa! You're the best! Thanks!!

Oh yeah, this game was in there too!

I like this game. I playtested this game. I look forward to teaching my son this game. It's a good game and now I own it. Thanks again to my Secret Santa!

Wow! It was a nice box to come home to today!

EDIT: Wait a minute! More of my Secret Santa gift arrived today (a week and a half later)! I was very confused as I opened the various parts and didn't really know what I was looking at until I looked it up here on BGG. It is a fantastically professional looking copy of...

I can't wait for my buddy Chris to come for a game day so we can try this one out.

Thanks again, Secret Santa!

Thanks much!!

I will be waiting until Christmas Eve or day to tear 'em open!

Until then, they'll cozy up me pub. I thought the puzzle bit was great... I was making me kind of chuckle to myself in front of my friend Jessie.

As I was solving the puzzle I was saying:

"Be sure....

to drink....

your Ovaltine... "I had a vivid image of this scene in the Christmas movie A Christmas Story.

Happy Holidays Folks!!

Christmas has come and we have........... GAMES!!!

Santa was so very kind and gave me 3 wonderful packages which contained 3 different games.

First, Jet Set.

Perfect choice as I have a large amount of wanderlust and have always loved airports and the smell of jet fuel.

Second, Amun Re

A gaming essential that I just never came across. It is awesome to finally have it take its place by other classic Euros

Third, Perfect Pyramid

This game I was unfamiliar with and it is by a smaller publisher Bucephalus Games. I relish the chance to play something I wasn't aware of, that someone else thought maybe I would like.

Goalie, You chose perfectly!!

I had a great morning punching them and fidddling around with them.

Merry Christmas!!!

Thanks much GOALIE!

Best wishes to you and your family!!

The games fit just fine by my little Tree o London Cheer!

Thank you Secret Santa!! Last year I was thrilled to receive Expansion #3, but couldn't use it without this set. Now the barbarian hordes will run roughshod over the Romans!

No clue what's in it but will post the good news on Xmas when I open it.

What a surprise to receive my Secret Santa gift today. I hadn't even heard anything from my Secret Santa.

When the mailman came knocking on the door today both Mark and me both thought that it would be his Secret Santa gift. His Secret Santa messaged him the other day to let him know his gift is on it's way, so what else could it be.

Now, our mailman's used to bringing lots of boxes of games our way. We are both avid Math Traders and order a lot online. So I'm sure he didn't think anything of it. We open the door and he just says that it's for Daisy and that he doesn't need a signature. For me?! I immediately knew it had to be from Secret Santa as I'm not expecting anything in the mail right now.

Mark hands me the box and tells me that Secret Santa shops at the German Boardgame Company. The only thing I've ever ordered from them was a Gift Certificate for a guy in a math trade. So, again, just more confirmation it was in fact from my Secret Santa.

I'm not a patient person so immediately I run to grab the scissors and start opening up the box. The first thing I see is an envelope staring up at me with my name on it. It must be a Christmas card. I take it out and see some pretty wrapped gifts. That's right there was not one but two games in the package that my Secret Santa sent me. Out of the box they come and I lay them on the table.

One is about the size of the game that I've been telling Mark I expect to get from Secret Santa. What is that game? Snow Tails. Why? Well it was definitely my biggest and most readily available want. And what could be more perfect from Christmas but a game with snow?!

Now, the question on whether to open them or wait? I hadn't heard anything from my Secret Santa so I don't know his opinion. I ask Mark, he tells me to open the card and maybe there's a note stating if I should open or wait. I take his advice. It is just a Christmas card and I can display it proudly in the apartment. Inside the card just states the gift is from my Secret Santa. I lay the card back on the gifts. No, I shouldn't open them until Christmas. So I grab my cell phone to take a picture of the gifts. If I'm not opening them I'll need a picture for the BGG Secret Santa gift thread, right?

After taking my gift and getting ready to write it all up here, Mark keeps telling me I should just open them. That everyone opens their Secret Santa gifts early. But I tell him it's not Christmas yet. What would my Secret Santa think if I opened it?

Well it can't hurt to let him peek right?! I tell him it's okay if he opens it and peeks at it as long as he doesn't tell me what it is. Maybe that will quench his thirst.

He looks at them and then seals the packages back up. I ask him if I'll like it. Now he's really good at keeping a straight face and so maybe I shouldn't have even bothered to ask. But he says very calmly he doesn't know. What? Could my Secret Santa have been horrible? Might he have mixed me up with someone else? Well at least neither of the boxes are the size of Anima: Shadow of Omega.

But now he's got my curiosity stirred. What could they be? It doesn't help that he hasn't stopped telling me to just open them.

Alright, after poking and prodding at them I decide to open them. Sorry Secret Santa. As Mark has taught me... Patience is a virtue, but one that I do not posses.

Well since I have a feeling I might know what is in the big one I decide I'll open that first. I rip the wrapping like a kid at Christmas time. Well it is Christmas, and Mark does say I act like a kid most of he time. It can't be that far off. So I rip, and I rip, and I rip some more. Until what do I see? SNOW TAILS! Secret Santa did get me something I wanted! I rip the rest of the wrapping off the game. I start dancing around the room hugging my new game. Mark probably thought I was a little crazy at this point.

After I stopped dancing around with my newly acquired game, Mark reminds me I still have another game to open. I lay down my well hugged copy of Snow Tails to open my smaller game. The size suggests a card game. I can't remember any specific card games on my want list. So I open it to find 6 Nimmt!. Mark seems super excited with my new card game. He tells me to open it immediately. This was not a game on my want list, and I can't even say it's a game I was well aware of. But, Mark tells me it's something he had a high interest in. So my Secret Santa not only got me a game I was super excited to receive, but also gave me a game I'm sure Mark will love to play with me.

Again, I'm sorry for opening my gifts early Secret Santa, but I just couldn't wait.

The good news is, opening it today allowed me the chance to try it out today. There's a group who get together at the local university on Wednesday's to play board games. So when I got off work I read the rules, and made my way over there to try out a 5 player game. Even though I came in last, it was a blast.

Thanks so much Secret Santa! Your gifts are certainly appreciated.

Now... If anyone has a Snow Tails: The Leap of Death they aren't needing, I'll gladly take it off your hands!

Edit Jan 21, 2010:

German Games are sending a copy of the expansion (Snow Tails: The Leap of Death) with my recent order. They had run out of the expansion tiles just before Christmas, but recently got some extra!

Wow! Thanks Secret Santa from ordering from such a great site! German Games are great! You definitely know where to shop!

Thanks again Secret Santa! I'm looking forward to playing this with the extra tile!

I received a package on Saturday 11/28. I'd have ripped it open already but Santa's expressed wish on the front of the box is for it to remain unopened until Christmas. So unopened it will stay for now.

It is rather heavy for a single game, but fairly compact for two games. It sounds like at least one item in the package has wooden bits. That is actually useful information as I have a fair amount of games on my wishlist that don't have wooden components.

Santa didn't take any pains to conceal his identity, and has therefore been geekbuddied.

Edit: Now opened. It's Commands & Colors: Ancients! Thanks, Santa. I'm looking forward to playing this with my son when he's old enough.

So, I come home tonight, and there's package waiting for me in my place at the table. I look at it, and it's from a game store I don't shop at. My wife asks me if that's my Secret Santa gift, and I say I think it must be. She tells me she has to confiscate it.

I say "but, I have to look, so I can tell my brother, so he doesn't get it for me!"

She says "It's OK, I can look, and I can tell him, and anyway, it might be wrapped"

I grumbled.

A little later, she says "They weren't wrapped, so I'll tell your brother, and I'll wrap them for Christmas on behalf of your Secret Santa."

"They?!" I say!

"Ooops, I guess I gave that away. Oh well."

So, thank you Santa, wherever you are, I know you're an expat (like me) but I'm not sure an expat of where, nor where you live now. I look forward to opening these games later this month!

EDIT (Dec 25)

So, my wife had wrapped the contents of the package from the game store. I opened one, and inside was R-Eco. Woo-hoo. The other was a big box that I already knew wasn't the actual container because my wife had deliberately chosen one to help conceal the contents. I opened it up and found a shoe box. I opened that up and found a wrapped up lump of lumpy bits! How odd, what could it be? Wow! It's Bausack
a game I've had on my wishlist for aaaaages! Thank you Santa! I'm so excited! Wow!

Silent War was Secret Santa Gift #1 and was transported across some or many borders by Geek Elf Reprint. Now it was my utmost intent to wait, wait, wait for this gift and Christmas to come together. Of course I suck at waiting and so does my little girl. So together we pressured me into opening it. I was very excited by this... it's one of the gifts I was both looking at picking up for myself and for my own target.

Now Secret Santa Gift #2 just came in today and again my little girl wanted to see what was inside but to add to the trauma of trying to resist was the postman who is used to us getting lots of parcels for my wife's business. So he's egging me on... out come the scissors and open comes the box and what you have is...
USX Modern Day Heroes which is one I've been very curious about since I added to the database a while back. What makes this gift even better was they added x2 minis to the mix. One is a SWAT grunt I believe... I'll admit I'm still in gaga over my Pretender (Elvis wannabe). I've been building an Elvis Zombie Hunter squad for a bit and this is one I've been missing... so needless to say both the Deep Ones and the local undead population are in for a hard ride... there is a new King in town.

So thank you Secret Santa... two gifts I'll enjoy even if I opened them early due to extreme familial/postal duress.

A package arrived today, from Thoughthammer. I'm expecting one to ship out tomorrow, so this confused me somewhat.

Upon closer inspection, I see that it's from my secret Santa! Yay!

Now, the holidays are a time when I have days off to get together with friends to do a bit of gaming. Also, my wife had been bugging me for a game wanted list, yet I was worried about collisions with what my Secret Santa had purchased. So, flying in the face of expected tradition (but perfectly in line with my own), I opened the box up right away.

In the Shadow of the Emperor was contained therein! Thanks, Santa - I've been meaning to pick that one up for a while!

But that wasn't all - my secret Santa didn't neglect the wargaming side of me, either. Also inside was Rebel Seas, a scenario book for a wargame I own, Close Action. I actually played Close Action just a few weeks ago, so don't think it won't see use!

Thanks x2, Santa! A great start to the holiday month. Your generosity puts me in the proper holiday spirit. Hope you have a great holiday! thumbsup

were waiting for me in a Thoughthammer box when I returned from a Thanksgiving trip. I've had (and enjoyed, though I'm terrible at it) Zertz for a couple of years, but haven't played any others in the Gipf series. Santa realized it was high time I got my abstract on. And what better pairing than the expansion to the beautifully themed Reef Encounter? Thanks Santa!

Hi Santa,

I was a very good boy this year and I resisted the voices in my head and in this site to open the present before ...the first of January. (Ok, Ok....I was help by not being able to take the game in my three weeks Christmas holidays).

So in my trip back I was looking forward to arrive home and open the present.
When we arrived my daughter (4 years old) was as excited as me and told me: Daddy, I think the best is for you to go to prepare dinner and I open the present for you. (What???....when they learn this things?...She is only 4 and completely used to give me orders like her...Genetics?..)

Well, we open the present and find a copy of Le Havre.
Thanks very much Santa. This is amazing!!!!!
I am a big fan of Agricola and a lot of people think that this is even better. Yes!!!!

I read the rules and played a solo game to get familiar with the mechanics. It was fantastic and I loved it.
Great deep game, full of choices.

Thanks very much again and I hope you have a fantastic new year!

Yesterday, I was as sick as a dog, home from work and feeling pretty sorry for myself.

The arrival of this package cheered me up immensely

Thank you Secret Santa.

Santa was thoughtful enough to include the expansion, and the game's designer wrote me a little christmas greeting.

Santa's elves had dropped by last week already but alas I was not at home. So today I was waiting eagerly for the doorbell to ring, and lo and behold, an old bearded elf delivered a big box to my doorstep.

To my relief, the box wasn't just filled with a big pile of poutine. Instead there were not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR shiny gifts! Thank you so much for your genorisity, Secret Santa! I think I have a prrretty good idea of what's inside them (let's just say I'm expecting to play with a lot of cards this month) but I'll hold off from opening them until St Nicholas day.

(also, big props to Shire Games for the excellent presentation)

UNWRAPPING UPDATE!

So of course, the first thing I did this morning was to savagely tear apart all the lovely gift paper in which the elves at Shire Games so carefully wrapped my presents. And my hunch was correct, what awaited me was lots of cardifulastic goodness! Not only did my awesome Secret Santa get me Race for the Galaxy but he (or she) also threw in both expansions! And if that wasn't enough, there's also a copy of Battle Line! Thank you very, very much, Secret Santa!

It's 9PM at the Perry household when the doorbell rings. It's FedEx delivering a package.

My wife answers the door and gets the package. After a short conversation with the delivery driver she turns and accusingly asks: "Did you order anything from Boards & Bits?"

Without thinking, I said: "No", we both then realizes its my Secret Santa gift. I quickly change my mind... "yes, yes I did".

"To late!" comes the reply.

Away to the gift closet goes the package...

Thank you, in advance, Santa for the gift. I'm sure I will enjoy it!

Oh, and I'm think that I should have some milk and cookies for those delievery drivers. The FedEx driver said he'll be out to 10PM, six days a week until Christmas, making deliveries. Santa you need to share with them how you deliver millions of toys in just one night (or does it really require the magical flying reindeer? I bet those can get expensive.)

[edit1]
Santa said he was sending goodies that had to pass customs, I'm guessing the customs imps absconded with them, oh well, it's the thought right?

Speaking of the thought...I openned the gift and it's Tales of the Arbian Nights. Cool! I've wanted this ever since I got a chance to play City of Chaos. Now I've got it. Yeah Santa!!

The only problem is my Santa is threatening me with another gift to be delivered in January.... Will the anticipation ever end!?!?

[/edit1]

[edit2]
The cookies showed up, as well as a nice card. They were yummy! Thanks Santa!
[/edit2]

[edit3]

And with the snow and ice in Memphis and nice shiny package arrived from Boards & Bits:

Dungeon Lords

I'm even more excited than the imp on the box!

Thank you not-so-secret Santa!

My Secret Santa sent me a game that I've been wanting ever since others in my game group introduced it into the mix. I think it's a wonderful game that I can't wait to play with my family.

I also received both expansions to another wonderful game: Small World

Small World: Cursed!

and

Small World: Grand Dames of Small World

Thank you Secret Santa!!

I received my package yesterday and it was so fun to see it was from the elves at CLS games like Santa had told me. I've got gifts for other family members coming in the mail daily, so I didn't think this one would be for me. I was happy to see it was! This year is tight for us and my husband and I are not exchanging gifts, so secret santa 09 is especially fun for me. I haven't seen my folks for over a year (they moved to Key West six years ago) and they are visiting us and arriving on Saturday. I'm going to try to wait until then to open the gift so we can play with my mom (the one who got me into gaming). I can hardly wait. Family, good food and board games. Does it get any better than that?

Thanks secret santa for taunting me (I loved that!) and being so kind. I have a little idea what the game might be from your clues, but I'll have to wait for Saturday to find out! (sure wish I knew who you were so I could send a thank you card!) You did a wonderful job spreading the Christmas cheer for me this year!
THANK YOU SANTAthumbsup

WOW, Mississippi Queen! For some reason I was expecting Snow Tails and when I ripped into the package of joy, I was totally surprised, in a good way! I would have loved any game, but I've wanted Mississippi Queen for a very long time. I can hardly wait to play it this week. Thanks again Santa for being so wonderful. I'll think of you every time I play it! laugh
