Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Either way, Santa rocks! He/She selected a group of games and all are greatly appreciated!

The following games were also included:

I got home from my first snowy drive of the season to find a large Thought Hammer box awaiting me!

Huzzah!

It contained Ra the Dice game! I just recently got to play this game at Great Lakes Games with the one and only MisterCranky! Ra is one of my favorite games, so I was really excited to get my own copy

Also included was No Thanks!!

I love card games so I am really looking forward to being able to try this one out!

Many thanks to my Santa! Perfect choices!!

So, I had Santa send my package to my in-laws because i was afraid it would get to my house when I had already headed up there. She sent me a message today that said a package had arrived, but she said the package looked damaged. I asked her to open it and just let me know if it was ok and if there was more than one.

Her Answer - "stone age in a box that is sealed".

Well, that ruined any surprise. But I am still extremely grateful to my Secret Santa. Thanks!.

I got an email this morning from my Secret Santa letting me know he/she placed an order with my local Friendly Online Game Store. I'm going to stop by there on the way home from work so I'll soon know what new games I can try out this weekend. I'll update when I find out what they are.

thumbsupThanks Santathumbsup

EDIT: My Santa sent me this with a nice message to my cats encouraging them to chew the pieces. I'm sure they would love that if I ever played this game with them in the room. The pieces are so colourful, how could they resist?

Thank you so much Santa for the expansion to a game I really enjoy. I've yet to win this game but it's great fun to play.

Thank you and Merry Christmas.

EDIT: I just received a nice Christmas card in the mail today. It seems my SS intended to get me dungeon lords but couldn't find it available. He/she did send me some great stickers for the minions in the game though! Thanks! It's at the top of my to get list so I'll definitely make use of these soon.thumbsup

I arrived home today after a long day at school, and lo and behold, there was a package on the porch! I know it's my Secret Santa gift because the return address is from Get Your Fun On in Florida. It had to arrive today when my wife is out of town...I wasn't planning on opening it until Christmas anyway, but she's supposed to hide it. Now it's just sitting there, taunting me. I don't know if I can survive the next 24 hours until she gets home...

EDIT #1: Well, I made it a couple of days. My wife got home, looked in the package, and decreed that I could open one (but not the other). So, I opened up one of the nicely wrapped packages (with a special greeting from my Secret Santa) to find a brand spankin' new copy of Dice Town! Really looking forward to getting this one to the table soon. So, thanks Secret Santa (with more thanks to come)!

EDIT #2: And the second game is...

Thank you so much, Santa! Dice Town is a lot of fun, and I already love Shadow Hunters, so these were great choices! Merry Christmas to you, and Mrs. Claus too!

First it was a jolly old Secret Santa day with Silent War and then USX Modern Day Heroes. Now Santa Grog stepped up to bat and dropped off D-Day at Omaha Beach. I'm way living the good life here folks and I have to thank the hardworking elves and Santa stand=ins who made it all possible. I'm now officially done wanting after gifts... I'm doing my giving and then I'm teaching my little girl to work a CRT for Ogre. Sessions to follow.

What an amazing day!

We had the annual company holiday party today. And I was surprised (and delighted) to receive an award for [outstanding achievement in the field of] excellence.

So I was on a high as it was driving home. Then I got home and find a box wedged in between the storm door and main door, which contained not only Stone Age but also:

Tichu

Thank you so very, very much Santa! You have given me an amazing end to an already outstanding day.

Ok, I wasn't going to post in this thread, but Santa got me such a great gift I couldn't help but come here to brag about it. I have a bunch of games on my wishlist, and made a note to my SS that I would be perfectly happy with something small and easy to find. So what did Santa do?

Bought me my #1 wanted game, which happens to be OOP (AH), no reprint planned whatsoever, impossible to trade for, AND the most expensive item on my list. Oh and the copy he delivered was in like new, unpunched, and in pristine condition.

Santa, you rock, thank you so much, happy holidays wherever you may be!

Got a package from Boards and Bits today - I wasn't expecting anything, but since I had JUST placed MY orders for my targets with B&B, I was paranoid I'd typed in addresses incorrectly, so I opened it.

Inside, was a copy of this - definitely a big thank you is due to Santa, as this is virtually guaranteed to see a lot of play!

Thanks!

[updated to work with summary geeklist]

But wait, there's more - apparently, my Secret Santa ordered items from BOTH Boards & Bits warehouses, as there was another package waiting for me Monday!

Inside was a nicely wrapped box . . . which my willpower totally failed to resist, and I opened (sorry about that, Secret Santa)! The second batch included:

Tzaar

AND

On the brink

Thanks, Secret Santa!

My Secret Santa gift arrived a few days ago. While I decided beforehand I would not wait until Christmas (for trade purposes), I did promise my two sons they would be there when I opened the present. The problem was that my wife and children were out of town most of this week visiting family. And when FedEx delivered the package from Boards & Bits, I had to put its opening on hold until this evening.

My Secret Santa was very generous, and I was more than ecstatic with what I received. In addition to Dominion: Seaside, there was a copy of Chaos in the Old World nestled among the packing peanuts.

If I can get the rules for Chaos read soon, both of the new games will be played within the next week. I'm sure Dominion: Seaside will be broken in first, as early as tomorrow with my wife.

Thanks, Santa!!!!

Recieved a knock on the door on a Saturday of all things (Santa must be working his courier elves hard this time of year!)

It was a man holding a big cardboard box - looking like it has those oh so awesome dimensions that all my favourite games come in. Of course I ripped it open straight away and WHOOHOOO! Chaos in the Old World! My #1 pick!

Santa you're a saint! (Allthough I think you knew that already)

Unfortunately with all the evil I'm going to be committing on the poor Warhammer universe I suspect I'll be getting a lump of coal next year

This story starts during the building of my wishlist when I came across a review by Tom Vasel of this game. Right away it piqued my interest.

I've never liked Risk and I have friends who would play it all the time if I'd allow it. So I've always wanted a Risk non-Risk game.

Magnifico seemed to fit the bill but to my dissapointment, it was only available in the States and when I went to my FLGS I got a story only a gamestore owner could tell. Blah blah blah for ten minutes follwed by, not available in Canada.

For fun I added it to my wishlist as it was something I was determined to get my hands on one day. But no one would end up sending to Canada, that would just be insane... absolutely and totally insane.

Well, Secret Santa starts and I get this message:

Quote:
Excellent, you must know Santa appreciates promptness and attention to detail. Now to Have the elves make something for you, oh they do enjoy crafting with cardboard, so much less smelly than all the new plastic things

Merry Christmas David, I hope you have a wonderful time this year!

I like cardboard, the elves like cardboard! I like plastic, hrmmm, santa does not seem big on plastic and apparently Magnifico has lots of cool plastic soldiers, planes, tanks, castles and towers. Actually, it's almost all plastic. So no Magnifico. No worries...

Last weekend I receive an email to let me know my gift is on its way. I immediately start going through my list and checking off the ones full of cardboard. "I'm not worried about getting Magnifico, I'll take anything on my list!!!"

Today I get home and there is a delivery pick up notice from Canada Post. Dangnabbit! I missed them! Now I have to wait later to get it! I paced around the house till 5pm and then off I went to the depot and sure enough the driver had JUST dropped it off.

Begin sprint home!

I get home and I'm shaking the box, what is it? It doesn't feel super heavy, it doesn't rattle or make much noise at all. Must be... this is where I opened the box...

MAGNIFICO!

WOOP WOOP WOOP!!!!

Thank you so much Secret Santa!!!! I am blown away that you sent this to me! Amazing awesome can't wait to get it to the table! I thought for a second I figured out who you were as there was a name and address in the box but if you're on the site I can't find you!

My Secret Santa also advised of a small package on the way? Craziness! More? This is too much! Update to come

Magnifico Holiday Season to everyone!

Update: I got my second package today. A print and play game called Stocking Stuffers. Little Christmas themed game. Thanks for the extra thought, this is a truly unique gift that I never would have come across without your time and effort.

Totally awesome!

Santa! After midnight here and just walked in the door from being in Denver all week. On the way home, my wife told me that a couple packages had arrived and that she almost opened them thinking that they were something she ordered, but realized that they were from Santa and left them alone!

Everyone else has gone to bed, so I figure I'd stay up a few minutes and take a peek. I mean, the least I could do was to let Santa know the packages had arrived in piece. And he did mention that some obfuscation had taken place thanks to Santa's little helper, so there is probably some kind of wrapping.

[slice...slice... crinkle... slice...slice...crinkle...sniff...sniff]

Inside is not 1 nor 2 packages but 8, yep, 8 packages and some coffee! Mmmmm, coffee.

There are 7 wrapped packages all together, wrapped in AWESOME Chicago Express wrapping paper. Kudos to whomever came up with that - I want to wrap everything in paper like that. I took a picture, I'll have to post it when I am a little more coherent. And! Bonus! One really cool drawstring bag that smells of chocolate.

Man! They're wrapped, I probably should wait till Xmas to proceed... or at least till morning.

Either way, a tres cool way to end a very long week. Thanks Santa!

EDIT - Well, Santa seemed to indicate that I should get about opening these presents, so.... [drum roll please]....

In size order...

The smallest package. Light, deck sized... a little light for a deck of cards.

Cheese Chasers

A nicely put together Print-n-Play game with handmade 'deckbox' Cool! An excellent way to start off the evening. I love PnP games, I've done 30-40 of them myself, don't have this one yet!

Next, A little bigger package... a little more weighty. No sound when shaking...

Tichu

I've had this on my list for a very, very long time. So many people seem to love this game and I'm all for trick taking games. Cannot wait to play.

Next, a little bigger still, maybe twice as large as the last one. Almost same weight though.

Take Stock

Man, I hate that game! Just kidding! The Take Stock contest was the very first contest I entered here when I joined BGG, and of course I lost! Been on my list since. Finally get to play it

Man, this Secret Santa goes to 11! Next box... almost same size as Take Stock. Maybe someone felt bad about me losing that contest... Let us see here. A little lighter than last, but a touch larger.

Nottingham

Wow, BGG lists it as best up to 7 players? I don't think I know 7 people I could play with. Don't know anything about it, but the BGG recommendations list games that I like and have, so looks like it'll be a good fit.

Big jump in size now! I hear pieces moving around.

Elephant Ride

Uh oh, time out writing this - two year old wants to play. Ok, back - wife won once, two year old won once and 4 year old won once. I never got above two monkeys stacked. This game is rigged..

In the home stretch now, two more left. Big ol' boxes.

Gulo Gulo

Time out again. Ok, 4 year old got in trouble so he doesn't get to play. HA! Cheater! My two year old knocked down the alarm on her trying to get the purple egg and my wife declares her the winner! What!?? I was going to win on the _very next turn_!

Oh well, I've wanted this for awhile too - ended up buying it for a bunch of people a couple years ago for xmas presents.

Last box, the heaviest of the lot.

Steam

Ahh-ha! See if the two year old can beat me at this one! I love this game and all things train-ish.

I'll pour some Lagavulin as a toast to the bestest Secret Santa. The kids love your choices too.

I raced home today from the Martinez Parade of Lights, such as it is, with a personal plumbing emergency of epic proportions. When the crisis was addressed and I had enough wits about me to look around, I noticed a large box sitting next to the front door. Ah! From Funagain I see. It could only be from Santa. I wasn't sure if Funagain wrapped their games, but I opened the box anyway. Sitting inside was Chicago Express. I am a huge train game enthusiast and this has been a must get ever since it was published. But what's this, something else under the peanuts?

Rise of Empires!

I am also fascinated by Wallace's brilliant, but quirky designs. Again, an instant must have when I first heard of it.

I was fully expecting to get one of these games from Santa - both are freely available and top wants of mine - but NEVER did I think I would get both! Outstanding Santa! I wasn't taunted this year, but if every Santa is this generous I don't care if I ever get taunted again.

Thank you Santa, whoever you are. These will get played post haste!

The day really starts awesome...
First I kinda overslept and was woken by the doorbell around 10am.
Still half asleep, I wondered what it could be on this sunday.. erm saturday? yes that can happen when you are still sleepy

It was the mailman, who told me he had a small package.
Hmm since my package from my Secret Santa was underway since 23 November, and he told me, that it is a little heavy, I thought, that probably couldn´t be it. I also bought some small games through a local website.
Maybe these are already here?
Since I am living with 2 roommates, it also could be the case that whatever it is, could as well be not for me at all. Hopefully that is not the case.

When I went to the door, I saw a very strange shaped plastic bag/cover. It was my name written on it, and there was a sticker from "The Games Player" from England on it.

I never would order from them, because the shipping cost would be to high for me, when I have local dealers, which are cheaper.
So it has to be the long lost package from my Secret Santa

I went back to my room as fast as I could and was thinking if I should open it. Then I remembered, that I could look up, if the present is gift wrapped or not, and I found out that it is!

After I got the present out of the packaging materials, there was a Card, a Letter and a lovely present in there.

Hm lets see, what did Santa want to tell me. I opened the envelope and there was a card with this message written down:

"Sorry, I was unable to find the lump of coal you wanted for Christmas, so you got this game instead. I hope it is an acceptable substitute
Merry Christmas
Your Secret Santa."

Awww, no coal? How am I supposed to keep me warm during this cold season? Playing me warm? Well that could be an alternative, if I invite my friends over to play a lot

Also I think it is prohibited in this flat to have an open fire, since I don´t have a fire place in my room devil

A part of me wished, that I could advance time, to be able to open the present right now, but I´ll guess I try to wait, since thats Santa told me if I don´t want to really get coal next year

Okay, since I don´t have a tree to put the present under, I decided to put it away as far as possible, so I wouldn´t see it all the time, taunting me to open it.

I´ll update this with pictures, if I crumble earlier

Since this is my first SS event I took place in, it really was an experience I´ll never forget and try to tell my friends to also take part in one, for maybe the next year meeple

Thanks it advance Santa for all your GM´s and taunts
and I wish that you´ll also have a fantastic Santa as I have gotten
thumbsup

Update:
It seems that I crumbled earlier, ... although I may be looking for an excuse, I am currently taking part in a math trade, and I dont want to get a game, which I already got, but just dont know about.
So I rushed to the place where I put it, so I don´t have it in sight all the time and openend the present carefully.

And what did I see? Did Santa foresee, that I probably would try to open it early? There was this...

Another Layer of christmas wrapping under the first one...
I hesitated another moment, if I should go on, but since I already openend the first one, why torture myself even further...

Under the second wrapping, i took a glance at a revealed corner of the game... but i couldn´t make out what it might be, but when everything was removed, I thought I couldn´t see right...

He really got me INDONESIA!!

I was so happy that I rushed to my roommate and show it to him. He just said, oh that is the game you talked about before, which I did.. and also about many other games
Since he is not really a gamer (yet devil ), maybe I manage to get a play or two out of him

Sorry Santa, I couldn´t withstand the urge and pressure. Hopefully you´ll acknowladge, that I managed to not open it for 2 days?

Also lots of Thanks again Santa, I put this on my wishlist but didn´t think that I really would get this at all. You really are a generous one thumbsupthumbsupthumbsup

It came Friday!

Not wrapped, so I know what it is, but I am still appreciative!

My Dominion collection is now complete, for now at least.

There is only one reason to get up early (7.30h) on a saturday morning! This is when the postman rings twice!

Ok, ok, there is also another slightly important reason. A crying kid. That would make two good reasons.

...or when there is a light smell of smoke in the air, i would stand straight in my bed. The amount of good reasons is now three...

Anyway, i was in big eagerness for the SS gift as i was informed by my santa yesterday, that something is on it´s way.

Secret Understater Santa wrote:
...I guess that you have done well enough to get something from your list...maybe one of the ones at the end. I have sent the elves off to get the gift for you...so...eventually..your gift should arrive...order is in...hope it will arrive soon...

That is a perfect understatement. Blackbeard has been on my list for long and was steadily rising up the status.

So, i have been at the door in a second. I couldn´t even see right through my eyes, but i signed the package and immediately searched for some sharp things i can use as an openingtool. When the package was open, i finally had the condition to see what´s in there. Yippieh! Blackbeard!

Thank you very much, my unknown Santa (Mr. Understatement)!

My Secret Santa managed to fit 11 different items inside a small box and sent it halfway around the world for me. In this small box were:

- 5 Xeno Treehouse sets and a Pink Treehouse set to complete my collection of pyramids,
- World War 5,
- Cosmic Coasters,
- 2 cylindrical candy boxes,
- a BGG bag.

There was also a kind word on a beautiful letter paper, with plastic snowflakes inside an enveloppe. I'll never thank Santa enough!

Santa,

Of the 33 games on my wishlist, and of the 10 games ranked 1 or 2 on said wishlist, you chose Niagara. How did you know? I've been itching to try this title ever since I got into gaming nearly 4 years ago! Thank yo so much!

Kindest regards,
Matthew.
