Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Dear Santa,

I have to admit it - YOU ROKC!!!!!11!

I got not only the game that was the top of my wishlist (1960: tMoP), but also another one, that I was planning to get for sooo long (I think it was one of the first games I had added to my wishlist). Ladies and Gentlemen, my Secret Santa also got me this:

Citadels

(the Polish edition comes with Dark City expansion).

The games were nicely wrapped in a Christmas-themed paper, then in a few layers of plastic wrap, and finally - big cardboard box. I thought of waiting until the 24th, but then I thought - hey, it's the 6th, time for some gifts from Santa. I ripped it open this morning, and now I can't wait to play these games!!!

Santa, thank you so much! You're simply the best!

A mysterious parcel arrived for me on Friday containing a nicely wrapped game and some clues as to where it had come from. It took me a while to decipher these cryptic hints, but I think the Edinburgh Castle Rock and Scottish Tablet may point to a Secret Santa living somewhere in the north.

I haven't unwrapped the game yet (I'm only assuming there's a game inside!) - that will have to wait until Christmas Day - but I couldn't resist trying the delicious Scottish Tablet. I'll update this post when I found out more...

Thanks Santa, much appreciated!

Christmas Update:

The great thing about BGG Secret Santa is you know you're going to get a game to open on Christmas Day, even if nobody else has got you one! laugh This year, I was very pleased to open Vasco de Gama. Thanks very much, Santa. You were right: it's a game I regret not picking up at Essen this year. I'm looking forward to giving it a go when my game group returns after Christmas. Hope you had a great Christmas too. Happy New Year!

The haul:

1) Ticket to Ride: Switzerland This looks like a fun
one!

2) Mr. Jack extension I heard these extra characters add a lot to the game

3) Revolution! Can't wait to try this one

My Secret Santa was amazingly generous! In late November a 16-pound perfectly cubic box showed up at my house. I decided I just couldn't wait until Christmas, so on my birthday I opened it and found the aforementioned BattleLore, plus the following incredible haul:

Thank you so much, Santa! I'm going to have so much fun with these! I guess I really was a good boy this year.

The only one who is sad about this is my wife, who will be playing BattleLore with me for a while... perhaps I can smooth things over with occasional plays of Dominion.

I arrived home from the University of Hawaii football game late last night pretty down about the 51-10 beating Wisconsin laid on us to end our bowl hopes (not that we should have expected to win that game more than one time in fifty... but you have to believe, right?). For some reason, my wife decided to check the mail in the lobby at that late hour and returned with an extremely heavy box. Both she and I knew immediately that it was my Secret Santa gift so we made a deal: if the games were wrapped I would wait till Christmas; otherwise, I could have them now. Fortunately for me, they were supplied unwrapped.

In the box, I found a new copy of Tales of the Arabian Nights, which I had wanted to buy since it was released. I hope to get this to the table very soon, as it certainly is a unique game. In addition, I found tucked away in the corner of the box a copy of Cold War: CIA vs KGB. This little card game was not even on my wishlist, but I have been tempted to buy it from my FLGS on many occassions. As a long time card gamer, this is a perfect complement to Tales.

I want to thank my Secret Santa for his or her extreme generosity. Despite being a part of the US, the price of shipping to Hawaii is quite high; the shipping cost for this box was at least $25. Once again, thank you for getting me a couple of great games and brightening up a dismal night for UH football.

I got home on Friday to find a package waiting for me, with Dungeon Lords, some candy, and nice letter inside.

Having previously read through the rules online, I was able to play it through solo yesterday without too much fuss. I'm bringing it to game night tonight--the other members are all looking forward to it. Should be a really fun time.

Thanks Secret Santa!

Thanks, Santa! This is a game that I've agonized over just about every time I've bought a new game. For some reason or another, I've always passed on this one. How did you know? Creepy. How did you know that I've been playing a crapload of Space Empires V and Sword of the Stars on my PC? Again, creepy. Anyway, thanks for making this a great experience for a first time participant. Merry Christmas!!!

Secret Santa's elves, in the guise of something called "Thoughthammer", with a little extra special surprise. In addition to Ghost Stories: White Moon (which makes a good co-op even better, with minimal added complexity), there were the Essen specials Ghost Stories: The Village People Expansion and Ghost Stories: B-Rice Lee - sweet!

Plus (as if Santa hadn't already gone above and beyond), there was also copy of Red November, an excellent light quick co-op of drunken gnomes on a submarine.

Thank you very much, Santa.

Since Secret Santa was such a success this year (my target posted above and seemed to enjoy what they received), I hope very much to participate again next year.

No I didn't receive this game, however I have received my gift from Santa. I was worried that I had been forgotten and thrown away like a piece of rubbish, like a cartoon hero Superted, because I had heard a peep, not a squeek not even a little gaseous eek from Santa. Fortunately I was not forgotten.

The game has arrived wrapped in chrimbo paper and the brave and staunch battle to resist opening the wrapping has begun. It has been 15 minutes and so far I am holding up well, only mildly perspiring and shaking intermittently, I think I can hold out for one night hour. I will see how I go. I have cradled it assessed the size had a tentative smell, which has led me to narrow down to a couple of games. Stay tuned to see how long I last!

Edit I survived the journey I made it to Christmas day, I received Chaos in the Old World! Thanks Santa!

I got my game!

After some really cool taunting and sad facts about reindeer, the game was delivered by an elf in person! I was just setting up a Werewolf game at a gaming weekend, when he arrived. It must have been some senior elf, as he had a long white beard and cool red outfit, just as Santa himself.

Now i can't wait until i can play the game!

Thank you, Secret Santa!

Justice for the 96!
mbmbmbmbmb
What a great weekend! First we succeeded to bring in about 4000 euros in a charity concert for my christmas project. Then I have ordered about 250-300 presents for the children and about two tons of food

Then I returned home and behold: a message that my present has arrived...to the custom's office

I will conclude to story at the end. But here's some background about my conversation with Santa.

It all began with a message like this
Quote:
Well, it seems that you are already doing my work for me! Thank you so much for bringing joy (and boardgames) to so many people already. It must be a good substitute for the joy you must be lacking as a Liverpool fan at the moment! Although, I like their colour choice and that Torres kid. Also, Steven Gerrard managed to help Santa get to first place in his fantasy Premiership league.

I'm relieved that I won't have to travel too far to bring you your gifts (those silly Canadians, Swedes and Norwegians think I'm one of them! - the nerve!).

I will say that whatever I manage to bring you will only be a fraction of the thanks you deserve for making the world (and bgg) a better place.

Thank you.

Which I replied with:
Quote:

To my torturer Santa. Like Christmas, Liverpool will come and rise again ;-)

Thank you for your message, it really touched my heart !

He then said:
Quote:

Subject: Ho ho oh no
Actually, Santa is a Newcastle United fan but has always held Liverpool in high regard. Santa even owns a jersey because he appreciates their color choice.

It's kind of funny how Santa's teams go through these downward spirals - one gets relegated so he can only watch the other and THEY start not playing well. I'll need to deliver more heart this year, or possibly another creative midfielder.

Now, hmmm, what to get my Finnish friend, here? I hope English language games are acceptable? Perhaps I can deliver something enticing enough to convince Teemu Selane to play for my favorite hockey team... but I've said too much already!

And once again I answerd him. With:
Quote:

Me fail enlish? Umpossible!

Then some days of silence just to hear from him again, telling me that my game for nearing Finnish border!
*************
Well, today it arrived and I admittingly I was a little disturbed about the customs but thought it doesn't matter and went there (including my amulets of +2 Charisma and +2 appearence powered up with That look (+5 against convincing woman that I am a nice guy)).
I entered the office and she got me the present and then asked about the reciep. I said I didn't have any and explained about this Secret Santa. Then she was mesmerized by my look (also did throw in a hypnosis spell there) and gave me the gift for free!

And what a game. It was actually the game I wanted most...AND I did put it on my wishlist just hours before "closing time".

Thanks a lot my "canadian" friend, whom I will try to stalk down

Well I nearly caved into temptation to open my secret santa present I really did. I even tried:

Nick (not St Nick but close) from Shire Games presented me with a large nicely wrapped box in the pub. Too big to work out what was inside. I managed to resist opening it for about 30 seconds and after ripping through the packaging and opening it I found 3 gifts - all also wrapped up.

It was at this point that I managed to gain some self control - they are still wrapped. I hope I know what's in them - if so my Secret Santa's been really generous.

Thank you whoever you are and thanks to Nick again for putting the effort into wrapping them and helping me exert some self control

Thanks Secret Santa your Awesome the other 2 games you got me are sitting under the tree waiting to be opened. Merry Xmas.

- A little more info, My Secret Santa is just plain Awesome, He had ordered Dungeon Twister 2 but I got the original DT, a game I love, but i already own. I sent Santa an email just to let him know since the price difference is quite a bit difference between the two games, and didnt want him to get messed over. I was more then happy to have another copy of one of my favorite games and besides there were 2 more wrapped gifts under the tree, But this wasnt good enough for my santa...No I got an email saying that not only was he sending DT2 but to keep the original as trade or a gift for someone else. So once again.

UPDATE: Recieved copy of Dungeon Twister: Prison it is as awesome as I could of possibly hoped. Thank you Secret Santa, Thank you.
BEST SECRET SANTA EVER!
Note to all my previous SS you were awesome 2,

Mine has arrived, beautifully wrapped and has been handed over to my wofe for safe keeping until we put the tree up.

And my Santa was VERY clever in getting me a game that comes in the same shaped box as about half a dozen of the ones on my wishlist, so I still have no idea what I'm getting until I open it on Christmas Day!

(Although I'd be grateful if Aldie or Derk could add an extra couple of fields for each game entry: Physical Weight and What it sounds like when lightly shaken)

After a long day at work, there's nothing better than a nice long shower and several pints - but a close second is receiving a Secret Santa gift!

My Secret Santa has been the strong silent type, and I was a bit worried when I didn't hear anything from him. But underneath that silent exterior, lies a generous spirit - he was willing to pay close to $50 to ship Die Macher to Singapore!

Many thanks again Secret Santa!

Dear Santa:

Wow. Just...wow.

A few days ago, Santa geek-mailed me this image:

So I suspected it might be a wargame, but I never even hoped for a minute it would be the top item on my list, which I figured I"d end up picking up myself! Santa, thank you for your generosity. You've made this casual wargamer very, very happy! I hope that some of the elves chipped in and got you something awesome, also.

My gift from my Secret Santa arrived sometime last week, I say sometime since I had no idea it was waiting for me. I usually use my parent's address for delivery so I can pick up items after work. They had not informed me anything had arrived; I guessed they figured I'd swing by sooner or later, since I usually track packages I have delivered. But being from my Secret Santa I was not aware of anything coming. So I decide to pay my parents a visit on Sunday, and after spending a few hours hanging out, they casually mention I had a package in the porch. Confused I go out to check, and sure enough a box from Boards & Bits, knowing immediately what it could be I ripped into it (sorry SS), and to confirm my suspicions I see a note on top saying: From Your BGG Secret Santa.

Much to my pleasure my Secret Santa sent me a copy of Alhambra, probably the most wanted game on my Wishlist (one I had been tempted so many times to order, but luckily held off on), and a game my friends will actually play. I’ve read the rule book several times already over the weekend, and am pretty sure I have grasped all the rules without having played yet (we’ll see). I carefully punched out all the tiles, and arranged all pieces in the nice storage box; the plastic insert is nicely molded to hold everything, very nice. I can’t wait until my weekly game night to introduce the game and get several plays under my belt.

Thank you very much Santa, awesome selection!

Thank you so much for the games Santa!

Qwirkle will be fantastic to try with the lunchtime crown here in the office. I need to expand my abstract collection and this is the best of the best!

I also received this:

Another great game that I previously owned and gave away. For its size, it really packs a punch.

Anyway, thanks for the generosity and have a great Christmas!

My Secret Santa, the sly devil, sent me Galaxy trucker, a game i've been ogling for months but i've always pushed down the list for "fiancee pleasers" and other excuses not to buy a specific game. After punching out all the awesome bits and looking over the rules, I can't be more excited to play this excellently themed and overall awesome looking game.

Thanks Santa!

Additionally, he saw fit to hook me up with a copy of Battle Line, a 2-player card game that looked deceptively simple. My fiancee and I played one game and we both saw almost immediately the insane strategic depth of it. We can't wait to play many, many more times. You rock, Santa. You rock.
