Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Almost gave up hope, since my Secret Santa didn't taunt me in any way. Even more agonizing cool

But last week a big package arrived from the UK. Had to wait until the Dutch Sinterklaas (evening 5 december) before I opened it. And to my great surprise it contained two of my most wanted games. Excellent work Santa.

Besides Surf's Up, Dude, it also contained Red November

I couldn't be more happier and can only hope my Santa got as much in return.

Dear Secret Santa,

Thanks for the wonderful gift. It will be played repeatedly, and will occupy a favored spot on the shelf.

I hope your Santa sends you something just as nice, if not more so.

Secret Santa,

THANK YOU! I have been wanting this for a while and for some reason it always gets put on hold. I am very pleased to get this game. I think my daughters will love it.

But wait, there's more...

Thank you also for Saboteur. I think it will be a great filler during the Kanata Boardgame night.

Merry Chrismas!!!

Words can not convey my gratitude to my Santa. Let me begin by saying this is my first time participating in the SS, and I guess I don't know what I was expecting, but it really wasn't all that much.

This year has been hard, for me and for many people, and I honestly am not expecting Christmas to be full of presents. I am doing my best, as is everyone I know, but I had more or less resigned myself to it being a recession Christmas. My wishlist was not very long, and included both some cheap board games and some big ones, but honestly I would have been happy with any small gift.

When I first opened the box I was met with:

Pandemic: On the Brink

Believe me, had this been the only present, I would have been thankful enough. Pandemic is the game the most regularly sees play time among myself, my friends, and my family. It is the perfect game, and I was very happy to get it.

However... something was amiss. When I opened the box, pandemic was sitting there, but underneath it was a lot of newspaper. The postal box itself was also much too big for just pandemic alone, but I could not tell what was under it.

Under all that paper, I found Twilight Imperium (Third Edition), my jaw dropped, and I am happy to admit I teared up.

In no way at all was I expecting anything this generous

This may very well be the best present I will get this year, in no uncertain terms, from a total stranger. The generosity of this community is beyond words, as am I.

Thank you Santa. Whoever you are, if you make yourself known, I have a generous allotment of geek gold from my immediate donation to this site, and I would be happy to share it with you.

Happy Holidays to all

About a week and a half ago, I got this message from Santa:

Santa wrote:
My elves have just confirmed that the package is on the way, so it won´t be long till it arrived BUT it´s a long way till christmas.
I hope you can resist the urge and will wait till christmas eve.

A few days later, I received a package from Amazon. Yey, my present from Santa. Thanks Santa!!!

I respect Santa's wishes, so my present is lying under the Xmas tree (still lonely at the moment):

Update:

I received my most wanted game: Kingsburg

Thanks again Santa!

I had already cleaned up my wishlist before heading to bgg.con 2009. It was there that I first played Jamaica. After two games, I was sold. It was one of the hits of the con for me, and once I was home I quickly added it to my wishlist, with little hope.

Well, I was totally surprised when it arrived last week. Thanks so much santa! I can't wait to teach my daughters how to play!

My poor Santa. I asked for the package to be shipped to my office, since no one is usually home during the day. This he did -- but somehow the company name got left off. So he FedEx guys kept showing up at a Manhattan office building, and shaking their heads. "I don't think anybody lives here ..."

He finally had to geek mail, email, AND phone me (from his mobile in the UK, which must have cost a mint) so I could straighten it out on my end.

Well, Santa -- it's here! And after everything you went through, I HAVE to follow the instructions on the package: "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL CHRISTMAS."

Update:

I waited until Christmas -- 12:05 a.m. And then, instead of ripping into the box, I opened it slowly and carefully, one flap at a time. Nothing visible but peanuts. Reached in and pulled out ... Medici!

This was a big surprise -- something I'd read about it must have intrigued me enough to give it a "love to have" rating, but I don't remember what. Reminds me a lot of Ra, though, from what I'm reading, so I'm very much looking forward to it. Thanks, Santa Sean, errrr, Claus!

But wait! There's something else in there! What could it be? I reach in and fish out -- Caylus Magna Carta!

I love Caylus (although I'm awful at it), but I can't get it to the table as often as I'd like due to the length. I've been wanting CMC for a long time now.

Thanks again, Sean Claus, especially for the heroic effort it took to get the package from the UKNorth Pole. You rock!

Time to plan some Christmas gaming! Happy Holiday of Your Choice to one and all!

After getting a tip from CLS Games (who is an expert Santa helper!) I was to be getting a package from my Secret Santa today.

FedEx shows up at work, and it didn't take long!

Opening the box, beneath the packing peanuts, I see:

As a Power Grid fan, I'm quite excited.

But... that shipping box was heavy, and a bit big... I just had to check, maybe there's a sweetener.

What is this in the bottom?!

THANKS!!! To my wonderfully generous Secret Santa! You went above and beyond my expectations!

I'm assuming my Secret Santa visited me today. Went to check the mail, and saw that a UPS package had arrived for me. I thought perhaps it was a gift I'd ordered for my Mom, but on seeing the return address, got suspicious it might be from Santa. Opened it and found a copy of Endeavor! I definitely didn't order a copy, and since it is fairly high on my wishlist, it must be from him... but no taunts, no note, no gift wrap, no nothing. I'm certainly not complaining - after all, without any gift wrap, I don't have to rationalize opening it now rather than waiting for Christmas. It just adds a bit of perplexity - it MUST be from Santa, but I guess there's no way for me to be sure.

Anyway - thanks Santa! Can't wait to get this to the table (tonight)!

The elves have delivered a package all the way to this remote home of mine in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. I'm excited, and very curious. The box is not so big, and I'm having a hard time figuring what might actually hide beneath the cardboard.

Though the taunts from SS didn't specify, I'm putting it under the tree and opening it on Christmas. (Let's see how long that plan lasts ) I'm also told to expect another package. Very nice.

My SS doesn't seem to be tight about that first 'S', as I think I can figure it out from the return label. Unless, it is some sort of head-fake.

Thanks, Perhaps-Not-So-Secret-Santa!

Update after opening package:
2009/12/25

Made it all the way to Christmas, and opened the package to find Citadels. Very cool. I'm such a silly goose at times, I even forgot I had put it on my wish list. Not one of the games which appears at our remote game shops, so wasn't on my radar screen. Got a chance to play some over the holidays a few times, and really enjoyed it. I guess Santa really knows what I like.

Santa also included some Rose Rocks from Oklahoma. Nice touch. I put these 250 million year old rocks next to some 10 year old lava, to give the lava some ideas on what it might be like when it grows up.

Santa has also said another package is still navigating through customs. Oh boy.

Thanks Santa!

==

Further update after the 2nd package came to Iceland
2010/01/18

I've been informed by the local customs office that a package came for me. That's the good news. The bad news is that they are currently insisting upon an invoice so that customs can be charged. Being Secret Santa and all, there is no invoice. Don't know yet how to fix this one. The score at the moment, for those keeping track at home:

Bureaucrats 1
Albert 0

Yet another update after getting the package into my sweaty little hands
2010/01/21

After greasing the palms of the local customs officer with a few fish, I extracted the package from the post office. After opening, I was very pleased to discover Twilight Struggle.
This has long been a game I've wanted to try, given the high praise on BGG, as well as the fact as this has a very different mechanic than that found in my collection. Looking forward to trying it soon.

Thanks for the great generosity Santa, and looking forward to Secret Santa 2010 (even though SS 2009 made it to 2010 in these parts).

I came home at lunch time to find a big box from Bouldergames on the doorstep. Inside there were not one, not two but three lovely wrapped gifts. A $5 gift certificate and some candy. Awesome!

I put them under the tree and went back to work, I'll have games to open on Christmas day, it will be great.

A gift certificate plus I'd been given money to buy a game from my father-in-law. But how can I buy myself something if I don't know what I've been given, oh the dilemma. Forgive me Santa but I was naughty and unwrapped the gifts when I got home. Hey I resisted for 5 hours which is a new record for me.

Along Primordial Soup I also received

When I pulled up at home after work tonight, I saw a big package from Cool Stuff Inc. Since I've stopped getting anything since targets were assigned, I knew it had to be from Santa. I brought it inside, but my cat was nowhere to be found. I searched the whole house and went around outside. still no cat. search the house again. Nothing ... grab the treats and shake them go around the house, still nothing go back outside shake the treats to around and there he is. He gave me a big scare. I don't know if he sneaked out in the morning or just when I got home. Never the less he is back in and safe.

Most important thing out of the way, I still waited until my wife got home before I opened the box. Inside was Imperial 2030. I've played Imperial a couple of times and my wife really likes Hamburgum, so I think she may like this one as well. When I saw the new version, I had updated my wishlist with it. I'm looking forward to finding out what is different and teaching the game to her and the rest of the gaming group.

I think it was a mistake since it isn't mentioned on the invoice, but also inside the box was a single card for the Epic Trading Card Game, so I have a single Echoing Mage Rare card.

Thank you Santa. This is one of the games I wanted as soon as I heard about it, but still hadn't seen it yet.

Woohoo! Santa went straight to the top of my wishlist and sent me a copy of 1960: The Making of the President. As a big fan of Twilight Struggle, I've been meaning to get this for a while now. And the Man in Red just saved me the trouble!

Furthermore, I got a brand spankin' new copy of Dominion: Intrigue! Maybe Santa was checking out my recorded plays, because Dominion and Twilight Struggle are two of my wife's favorite games to play with me. There's nothing like a pair of gifts that I know will hit the table a great deal! Thanks a million, Santa!

+ a pair of silver plated dice

A HUGE thanks to my very generous Australian Secret Santa! Endeavor was a big surprise hit for me at the recent RinCon convention here in Tucson, and I've been eying Filipino Fruit Market with some curiosity since I saw it on the list of Essen releases.

THANKS SO MUCH SANTA!

Oh Santa......you are so...so fraking awesome.

Just after I successfully pass an actsci accreditation exam and visit my significant other for the weekend I get a nice big package from Fun Games Cafe (my local...and I mean pretty damn local....online game store)

this box was to say the least....HUGE!!!

So I decide to open it up....and I must say the presents were well hidden as you could see

but I fished them all out...and there were MANY MANY MANY of them. 6 in all. 4 large boxes and 2 small ones.

Now being a good boy I would keep them wrapped and wait till Christmas Hannukah to open them...But I never expected this from my Santa so I decided to just go ahead and OPEN THEM ALL!!!!

And here is what I got!

First the above mentioned Chaos in the Old World

which made me squee as it is one of the big things on my list but as you will see Santa covered EVERY large item on my list

Next up another box unwrapped and its

Yes the great Conflict of Heroes: Storms of Steel! – Kursk 1943 a game that I have been wanting for a while since wargames always interest me and this one seemed easy enough that I could convince others to play with me

At this point I am floored. These two alone would have made me VERY happy with my Secret Santa and this being my first SS I felt like a little kid opening my presents but no were not done here next up was another square box and out of it came:

Thats right Snow Tails along with Snow Tails: The Leap of Death a great game that I have been looking at for a while and wanted to pick up as a light fun game with friends. But all was not done there was still another large square box there and out of it came the game that is by far most beloved by me and my friends as a great evening. Its an expansion but one I Have been meaning to get for a while

YES ITS Last Night on Earth: Growing Hunger

Oh man I cannot even begin to imagine how much fun this will be when I bring it out at the next friendly gathering.

And just when I think its all done what? there are two smaller boxes in there as well? Well those two are

Coloretto and Tichu a well rounded addition of short fillers that are filled with AWESOME!!!! to my collection.

Now some of you may have noticed that the original wrapping had a note attached. I feel the need to show it off as it was kind of a threat but one that I plan to follow through with the little note said:

Hmmm reviews? I think I can do that

And with that I complete the journy of my first secret santa on BGG. What did I think...OH MY GOD YOU ARE ALL THE GREATEST PEOPLE EVER!!!!!

I had a ton of fun participating and tauning my target as well (by the way your package is almost at your house according to the great GPS tracking elves) and I hope he/she enjoys their presents as much as I do..

Rami

There's an unknown present waiting to go under our tree- thank you Secret Santa!

We can't wait to open the present on Christmas morning and play the boardgame as a family!

Oops! When I opened it, I accidentally added it as a new item. See item #629

My poor postman. Along with two packages as part of my own gift shopping, he had to bring this huge box full of games to my door.

Taunts from Santa had revealed two of the three times in the box, which even though they were wrapped, were identifiable by the size.

In addition to the much desired game of cylons,
Santa also gave me
This is perfect, as not only did my 2008 Santa give me the base game, I've been seriously wanting to bring in a fifth player recently. Hooray!

The third game remains wrapped, as the size of the package disproves two of my guesses. I think I've deduced what it is, but figure I'll wait a while before opening it (While I don't really celebrate Christmas, I enjoy giving gifts, and opening a few of my own when I don't know what they are is still one of those magical childhood things).

Edit: And the third game turns out to be:

My riddle solving skills turned out correct in the end.

So thanks very much to my Santa. Hopefully my target will enjoy the gifts I provided as much as I will the ones I have received.

Dear Santa,

What a nice surprise awaited me when I came home from work this evening! Your note directed me to "[p]lease enjoy both the games and the sweet treat." I took your words literally and assumed the present tense was intentional.

Thanks for two games that I've long looked forward to playing. I'm sure Um Reifenbreite will be a big hit over the holidays. Thanks also for the english rules translation. I'm all set.

A big thanks for also including

My son and I enjoy this sort of in-your-face card game. I predict this will take the place of last year's Condottiere as the game my son torments his aunts and uncles with over the holidays. Good times.

I'll long remember your generosity, and my children may never forget the little dance of joy they witnessed this evening. (By the way, they enjoyed their first taste of a Moon Pie. I'm saving the second one for me.)

Thanks again, and may your holiday be merry and bright!
