Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Dear Santa,

Apologies for the late reporting. I confirm that I have received a box containing 3 (+1) games inside !!

Although on the last couple of years I've been able to wait for Christmas night to open the presents, this year, not sure why, it didn't work exactly that way.

On the other hand, I can tell you now how happy we are with the new games !!

Hive and the Mosquito expansion. Already played this many times with my sons, they love it, great fun !! Thank you !

Dragon Parade (will keep this away until xmas for now )

Hera and Zeus (this too, will keep for xmas night)

Again, many thanks !!!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays

Bruno

Hohoho everybody!
And a special hohoho to my Secret Santa!

After lots of mails from my Secret Santa and the promise that his elves will send me a big piece of coal, he finally seemed to be convinced that I had not been that naughty... So he sent me 3 postcard wargames and a nice letter, telling me to put something to eat outside for his reindeers.
A few days later I received a package from "Secret Santa". As my parents were constantly asking for a wishlist (to send to the non-secret Santa, I guess) I had to open it (my parents asking totally beeing the only factor in this decision ... no really!).

Aaaaand it was candy... aaaand a letter... oh and Arkham Horror which I wanted to play for such a long time (in fact, since I played the Cthulhu RPG and HATED it, as the theme is very cool but the mechanics... *NARF* but this is a totally different story! now I lost track of my punctuation marks... well... how about that: ,!).

Secret Santa, thank you, Mrs. Clause, the elves and your reindeers! And have a merry, merry Christmas!

Yesterday a package showed up from Shire Games. Two carefully wrapped packages were inside, one saying that I COULD save them until Christmas if I could manage to hold out that long! Like Oscar Wilde, I can resist anything but temptation... My cat noticed the reflection off the wrapping paper and started chasing it around the room, so that was entertaining for a few minutes, but I just couldn't wait any longer than that!

I opened the smaller package first... and it was Jambo! I've never played it, but I'd heard good things about it so I added it to my wishlist a while ago. I'm really glad to have it because it's something I might get my wife to play, and I also have this irrational thing for non-Mediterranean trading games, y'know, just for the novelty... so I can't wait to play it.

The bigger package was 1960. This REALLY got my blood pumping.

This is my first year doing BGGSS, and like a total idiot I just left all the stuff that was on my wishlist more or less as is, including a lot of bigger box games that I could never hope to afford. So after I went back over it a few weeks ago I was really beating myself up for not explaining to Santa that no, I didn't really expect a copy of any of the Love to Have stuff I had listed...

But anyway, Santa got me one of the games I'd really wanted. My wife and I get pretty crazy about electoral politics every four years, and I really liked Twilight Struggle, so this is going to be played again and again. I've already extorted a promise from her to play it on Christmas Day.

Thanks so much, Santa, you're my hero, and if you ever make it back to London, come to London On Board! I'm there more or less every week, and I'll bet it'd be fun for you to join in a game, knowing that 1960 and Jambo enjoy pride of place in the collection of that funny American guy you're beating.

I'm definitely going to take part in BGGSS again next year. Thanks to Tom Vasel for putting this together.

My Secret Santa came through for me big-time!

It's been a cold cold week featuring such exotic activities as shoveling snow, scraping windshields, getting a whiny two-year old into his snowpants, and yes, more shoveling snow.

It was wonderful to arrive home from work last night to see that my Secret Santa gift arrived.

I admirably held off opening the box until I had divested myself of my coat and boots, and greedily tore into the package.

Oh my! It's Yspahan. Most excellent!

Everytime I go to my local FLGS I pick it up and examine. Now I don't need to. I'm really looking forward to trying it out this weekend if possible.

Thanks Secret Santa! Merry Christmas to you and yours.

So, after a nice taunt that included a Google Map image of my home's location, which one family member called "creepy," I received a box with big Sharpie-written letters that read:

BGG SECRET SANTA

Not being the "waiting" type, I opened it immediately. The first thing I saw was not one, but TWO GMT-style counter trays.

My mind went, "uh oh," and I feared what I would see next. TWO counter trays? It could only mean one thing . . .

Yep. My Secret Santa did it. I have now been indoctrinated. My body has been snatched and replaced by a being that speaks (or will be soon to speak) ASL-ese. I have been sucked into the vortex of ASL. All it took was one look at the box, and it's colors started making me drool. I opened the box, and I believe I lost consciousness at that point.

When I regained my senses, I had a bloody nose as if I'd been in a fight, and somehow I felt so much better.

Thank you, Secret Santa, for making this man a real (or soon to be) grognard.

It has been a wonderful experience participating this year and I'm truly grateful I was in a position to join in the spirit of the event.

I have also truly enjoyed reading over this list and seeing the great gifts, the happy commentary, and just joy and excitement this event has engendered. I didn't think however that I would one of the, "Wow my gifts came at the perfect time! This was my day..." stories...but here I am!

Santa's secret package arrived on the last day of my classes for my degree that I've worked toward for...let us just say ever...topping that off my wife and I were headed to the doctor's to find out when our little girl will be arriving [between today and Wednesday!!] and I was thrilled when there was a package waiting when I swung by the house to pick the wife up. We brought it with us and I opted to wait until between the two appointments to open it up and enjoy the season.

Opening the package in the car next to my wife I saw San Juan! Having long been a fan of Race for the Galaxy and Puerto Rico I was thrilled - my wife, also a fan of the two, happily took the game and saying how thoughtful Santa was to send a game for the two of us.

The box was deeper than that though and I thought it odd that there would be THAT much packing - so I picked up what amounted to a secret 'floor' in the box and saw...and I can NOT express how jaw dropping excited I was...but there before me lay:

I was literally struck speechless as with all the running around for the baby prep and wife, in addition to the final weeks of my school - I had lost track of this expansion becoming available!

Santa - you rock - you took a great day and managed to make it spectacular. Thank you for your generosity, thoughtfulness, and just all around awesomeness! wow

It came! *dance*

At first I thought it was a (non-geek related) purchases made on Ebay. Then I noticed a boards and bits sticker in the corner! Wait a minute...I didn't....oh, BGG Santa, sweet!

Opening activities commenced immediately (because I'm really just a large child, and am terrible at the whole waiting thing) and what do I see? Cutthroat Caverns Expansion Two:Relics and Ruin. Cool!

Problem is I don't own Cutthroat Caverns. Hrm! Ahhh, Santa thought of that, I see. Not like the jolly old elf to forget something like that, splendid! Item two, Cutthroat Caverns 2nd edition. Double score!

Wait a minute...is that more cellophane in the packing peanuts there...holy sneaky daggers, Bat-santa, the first expansion for Cutthroat Caverns, Deeper and Darker! Wicked awesome.

Wherever you are Santa, thank you! This game is great and I can't wait to try out the expansions

*lightbulb*

Oh yeah...there was something in Santa's note: "There is a second part to your Christmas gift that Santa couldn't drop-ship to you, so I'm having it shipped to the North Pole so I can wrap it up for your Christmas tree."

Holy cow...Secret Santa, you rock. It's like being a kid all over again

I received a box with little fanfare, other than a couple of mysterious and brief messages from Santa letting me know that my gift was being shipped. It arrived in a Boards & Bits box, which is sitting, still sealed, in my living room. I am going to try to wait until Christmas, It is a decent size box (not to be confused with a Descent sized box) which, looking at my wishlist, could contain almost anything except perhaps Crikinole or Fireball Island. Time will tell...

But whatever it is, thank you Santa. I'm sure I will love whatever it is!

Opend them! I got Tanz der Hornochsen as well as Hive with the Mosquito expansion!

Thank you Santa!

I think that I must have the bestest secret santa ever. They were every patient with we. I went off to BGG.Con and said hey Santa, please wait. I have some shopping to do. And they did. All the while sending me interesting communications from Santa. And from Santa's cat Northanger to my cat Darcy. Lots and lots of letters were exchanged. Between the humans, and between the felines. I laughed. A lot.

And they the package arrived. And Northanger said that I could open the package, even though Santa said I could wait.

So I opened. And the expansion to my most favoritest game EVAR was here. Farmers of the Moor. WOOT! I was sad when they sold out at BGG.Con.

And, to make it even better there was a bonus game.

Given that I love to write, and love Nano, this is an awesome game to have!

I have been told via communications, that darcy's package from Northanger will arrive soon as well. With pink packing peanuts to play in. So I will update again after that!

UPDATE: More secret Santa Updates. I even took pictures, though my poor flashless camera is not the best right now. soblue

So I got a nice package from Northanger Tabby to Tiffany n Darcy Jones. I was amused. Highly amused. I mean, anyone who sends anything to my cat has to be a cool person, right?

I should have known something was up when Darcy started rubbing up all over the presents. Hmm -- something from SantaKat to my cat that has him all sorts of happy. Catnip laced goodies? Could it be?"

Darcy was QUITE happy. Let me tell you.

Then we had a box. A cheeseburger box. Darcy does love himself some cheeseburgers.

Better with BACON! baconbacon

And a note inside! GASP!

Suspicious cat!

Kitteh in action!

I also got some stuff too! I got a CD of Tetris songs, for when I play FITS, some place woozles

AND

PLAYTEST 2

Thanks SS! Whomever you are. You are fantastic! I have been blessed all three years with fantastic Santa's!

Wednesday, I received this Elf Report:

Quote:
Naughtiness Review Panel has determined subject is: Nice (Provisionally)

Toy Fabrication Team has been notified.

Then yesterday, I received an update:

Quote:
Santa's Sleigh is locked and loaded.

Drop zone will be in range in 24 hours.

Then today, a mysterious package arrived, return address Fantasy Flight, just as I was reading the following Elf Report in my Geek Mail:

Quote:
Target in sight, dropping in 3... 2... 1...

Of course I had to open it immediately. Inside, was Doom: The Boardgame. There was no note or anything. But it can't be a coincidence, it arriving just as the elves notified me. This must be from my Silent Santa. How did he time it so perfectly? The ways of Santa are mysterious.

Thank you, Santa.

Not using an online store and having to use a return address is what sunk him. I used the Geekfinder to isolate users from that Zip code, then eliminated anyone who didn't have the Secret Santa 2009 participation badge. Then I looked up every user who had a real name over their username on zabasearch and cross referenced with the return address on my package. BINGO! Hey, what can I say, stalking's a hobby...

I haven't actually opened my present, but based on my wishlist, the clues santa sent me, and the size fo the presents, I'm guessing it's Zooloretto and one or two expansions. We'll see on Dec 25.

which I'd never heard of before but looks interesting.

Thanks a lot, Secret Santa, and also Mateios!

The game itself isn't important. Spending time intellectually jousting with likeminded folks is the real reason to game.

Not only did my awesome Santa send me Formula D, but my box also contained Mystery of the Abbey and Blokus goodness!

Thank you, Santa! At least one of these games will probably already be on our game table by the time you read this!

I sent out my own Secret Santa gifts and the same evening I got word from my Santa that a package is on my way. It seems that good deeds are rewarded. Had I known this I would have sent my presents weeks ago (even if my target asked me to wait till December) laugh.

I got the package yesterday and could not wait to open it.

Inside I found a neat copy of San Juan and as bonus there was Lost Cities.

My Santa suggested to me, that I should spent more quality time with my gilrfriend after I explained him that she will not play a lot of the games I have.

So he picked some nice games which can be played with two players and when I showed them to my girlfriend she immediatly smiled and said she will play them this weekend.

So mission accomplished my Dear Santa.

Thank you so much and Merry Christmas to you, your familiy and all on BGG.

Well, it turns out I'm adding the actual game my Secret Santa got for me (actually, my geeklist if to help build up games for our daughter) earlier than Christmas morning. While giving the Christmas tree water this morning, I spilled a TON on the gift! I wanted to make sure it wouldn't get ruined, so I quickly tore off the paper- alas, it was covered in plastic and would have been fine.

THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!

I'll have to remember this for next year and "accidentally" drop some water so I have to open the package early!

Ran a couple miles in the drizzle this morning and was welcomed home by a large brown box on my front door. Without stopping to hydrate or shower, I frantically cut open the box to discover 3 wrapped games. Awesome! Thanks SS! Since I am waiting until Christmas to open them, here are my deductions as to what I think they are:

I can tell one of them is Fairy Tale judging by its small size.

The other is an Alea medium box...Witch's Brew, perhaps?

The third, I have no idea because it is in a square box.

But regardless of what they are, I can't wait to open them up on Christmas. I know I'll be pleasantly surprised!

Thanks for your generosity SS!! Merry Christmas!

Edit:
Christmas break is over for us UC kids but we had a really fun break playing lots of Fairy Tale and Witch's Brew (and Dominion).
I was correct my first two guesses. The Third was Arena Roma II which I have yet to try out. After reading the rules it seems that it is a solid recommendation from my SS given my taste for card games.

Once again, thank you SS and BGG!

After my walk back from work, I find a parcel slip from DHL on the mat, could it be from Santa? I started to look for the opening times for the DHL office when I saw they had actually left it round the back of the house. A few seconds later I had a package from Board Game Guru in my hands and a big smile on my face.

Pausing only to take off my coat, I soon had the package in the middle of the floor and my knife in hand. What could it be? Cutting through the tape I found this lovely wrapped gift

It is quite heavy (nearly 2kg, Yes I weighed it) and Kosmos sized which leaves a good few games from my wishlist.

Boardgameguru had also put in a free copy of counter magazine. I am a subscriber so some of our friends will get this at our games day tomorrow.

Thanks Santa. I hope you have a great Christmas

Edit 26/12/2009

With much anticipation I opened this yesterday. I had looked through my wishlist and had a mental list of 4 or 5 games that fitted the size and weight of the present. It turned out to be Small World. This was only recently added to the wishlist due to some of the great reviews I had seen and heard.

I punched it yesterday and will read the rules today. I hope to get it to the table over the New Year holiday.

Thanks Santa. Hope you have a great set of holidays and got a really cool game as well.

Edit 27/12/2009

Played twice today and enjoying it lots thanks again Santa!
