Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Got a box from Funagain Games delivered prior to Christmas. It took a lot of patience but I waited to open it. When I did I found Stone Age awaiting me. I'm looking forward to playing this at our next game day.

Thank you Secret Santa!!!

Got a message (another message...Santa's been rather talkative this year ) this morning telling me to watch for reindeer on my roof today...

Well a little before noon the reindeer arrived, bringing not only Twilight Stuggle but also:

Small World: Grand Dames of Small World

and

Small World: Cursed!

All of this is on top of what he previously sent me as well:

Pillars of the Earth + Expansion

Santa, you've been awesome this year and I really haven't been good enough to deserve all of this. blush

Good luck to you, and if I'm ever in Oriental, NC, I will definitely look you up! (I will definitely have to give Factory Fun a try now...)

So awesome. Thank you Secret Santa!

I thought that if I received just one item on my wishlist it would totally be worth participating. Dominion is certainly one of our household faves, so the Seaside expansion is sure to see a lot of turns at our table.

Pandemic

Pandemic, also awesome. I've played other people's copies so many times that I am extatic to have my own.

Race for the Galaxy: Rebel vs Imperium

And now my Race for the Galaxy collection is complete. Couldn't be happier.

Three gifts! Way beyond my expectations. Thank you so much for making my first BGG Secret Santa experience a great one.

Got my present on my birthday and knowing I wasn't going to be getting anything else that day I was naughty and opened it up straight away. But this did mean it got played really quickly and meant it didn't get clogged up in everyone else wanting to play there Christmas presents. Really enjoyed it on our first play and looking forward to playing it again hopefully before the holidays are over

My SS made an hour journey each way to hand-deliver wrapped gifts! Unfortunately, I assumed that his 'elf' references regarded the FedEx/UPS guy rather than his traveling companion, so once the appointed time came and went, we assumed the package was delayed. We went out for Thai (it was my 17 year old's birthday in my defense), leaving him and his best elf out in the rain to get soggy.

The first, smallest package was Jambo Expansion 2, the latest expansion for one of my all time favorites. This will justify my pimping out Jambo, right? Finally I can use all the cards! (Which in card sleeves is a pretty mighty stack.)

Next up was Traders of Osaka, a nifty little game (though it definitely needs card sleeves, luckily I had them on hand).

And finally the piece de resistance: Caylus! And not merely Caylus, but the limited edition, metal bob and all! It's simply gorgeous. What's more, my gf is already requesting we play it again! I started out trying to ease her into this gaming thing, worried I'd put her off, to find she prefers longer, heavier games.

Down side is that mine didn't include the plastic king figure. Did all of the limited editions come with this?

Thanks SS! Your generosity knows no bounds! Hope your solstice season was a joyous one, however you celebrate it!

Alright, so my Santa had informed me that a package chock full of Hannah Montana goodness would arrive just for me on December 30th!

He... is... a... LIAR!

Not a single Hannah Montana game in sight. Instead, all I got was Tales of the Arabian Nights, Small World, and Small World: Grand Dames of Small World. 14lbs of Not-Hannah

Ok ok ok... seriously, my Santa is freakin' awesome!

So, a couple pics for his and your viewing pleasure. First, our hell hound, Sadie, standing guard over the horde:

Then, my lovely "grand dame" getting into the spirit of a game she's really excited to play (due to its theme, and her love of Middle Eastern Dance!) I'm in the picture somewhere:

Obscure trivia: 5gg to whomever can name the costume designer

(Yes, I'm aware many will call these gratuitous "dog" and "girl" photographs. I was just so excited when I opened the package that my partner thought it would be kind of adorably funny to take the shots. So we did.)

There were two words I shouted when my brain registered the blinding awesomeness I was holding in my trembling hands, and I'm pretty sure the first one was "holy".

It's been two hours, and I still can't find the proper words to thank you, Secret-Santa-who-does-not-live-in-Issaquah-WA-and-probably-not-in-Shoreline-WA-either-but-I-haven't-quite-ruled-that-out-yet. Your handwritten note in the card you enclosed said you wished you could do more. Frankly, I don't see how that would have been possible unless it was something ridiculous like you having some hitherto unknown Sid Sackson prototype biding its time in your closet but needing a new home. Until today, I would have classified receiving Wallenstein as "something ridiculous", but here it is, proving me wrong. I am awestruck and humbled by your generosity.

I need to stop writing before I start tearing up again, but from the bottom of my very grateful heart: THANK YOU!

Okay, a conundrum wrapped in an enigma. I thought my Secret Santa could not have been more generous (both Chaos in the Old World AND Tigris and Euphrates!) when another interesting parcel arrived in the mail.

So basically, my SS has made it a game to attempt to divine his identity. This has proven difficult, despite the fact that he claims he has left a number of clues to his identity, or at least location. I am fairly certain that he's from England.

The return address on the new package is St. Paul, MN, which can mean anything. But let's look at the contents of the package. It is a very personal set of items and I was very touched to open it on Christmas Eve. The first is a book, The Player of Games by Iain Banks. I had not heard of the book, though I am now very excited to read it. I am very keen on new book recommendations. Also included was a package of loose leaf Earl Grey tea. Interestingly enough, this is my favorite kind of tea! I disdain tea bags with a passion, and so this is a very nice gift.

Also included was a card shaped like the Mad Hatter with a lot of references to said Hatter and Lewis Carroll. A few years ago, I visited Oxford, England and spent a few weeks there and saw the place that the Mad Hatter scene was imagined to have occurred (Christ Church College, I believe, though my memory is shabby).

The question, is my Secret Santa from Oxford? Or is he just a Lewis Carroll fan from England? Or is he, as the return address suggests, from St. Paul?

The last I find unlikely, especially since in one of his taunts, he said that he enlisted the help of a proxy. I did some searches on BGG but turned up nothing conclusive.

Is this just another unsolved mystery?

Also in the box was the Catan Dice Game. Perfect timing, too - I think I'll break this out for New Year's!

Most important in the box was a nice card and individually-wrapped games. The extra effort really made me smile Thanks, Secret Santa!

I received my packages a while back, but waited to open them. I’m going to add posts rather than just comment on my original entry though, because I think it’ll just get lost and I want people to know how thoughtful my Santa has been!

I’ve always liked gaming, but am fairly new at eurogaming and ‘game shop only’ games, so my wishlist wasn’t huge. My Santa gave me a game from the top of my list for my big present, but then looked at the type of games I enjoyed and picked out some ones I had never played (or in some cases heard of) to introduce me too. And while I haven’t played them all, from the rules I can tell that they’ll be just my type of thing. Thanks so much, Santa!

For my first gift I got a game I played at Essen and loved (plus my friends will like the theme!): Revolution!

_________Holiday Season Emotional Rollercoaster

___This was my first Secret Santa year, and the thing that I would like to say to all the people that are on the fence about joining Secret Santa - just do it, you won't regret it!
___But let's start from the beginning. I found BGG in a moment of personal hardship, and ever since its great community helped me in keeping sane. Not to mention introducing me to a great hobby. So I always wanted to participate in the gift exchange. But as I don't have a source of income and the shipping costs from Croatia are prohibitive, I didn't have a chance. Last year I discovered the BGG Christmas Card Exchange, and joined with a large number of Christmas cards. But the large costs (who would think that shipping Christmas cards was so expensive) and the crappy post service (some of my cards were swallowed by the Croatian post system and never arrived) led me to think that with the same cost I could make a geek happy with a new game. Especially when I realized that I could order online and ship directly. So the seed was planted.
___This year I bought a large order of games (and got burned on the import costs of it). So the situation didn't look too rosy and I wasn't expecting to join when I saw Tom's announcement. But as I felt quite low, I knew that a new game (especially one I want a lot) will cheer me up. And I need some cheering up during the Christmas holidays, as I'm spending them alone. So I entered because of a selfish wish, without any real thought about the giving aspect (but with a strong sense of duty to make my best to make someone happy). I joined and restricted my choice of target countries to ones with a large selection of affordable online shops. I debated this point quite a lot with myself - is it fair that I, from an extremely expensive country to ship to, am restricting who I'm willing to ship to? But with my limited funds I decided they were better used for giving another game, than to pay for shipping. And it also helped that I had this option because if I hadn't I wouldn't join. I just hope that in the future I'll be able not to discriminate on the shipping basis.
___As I knew that the month leading to Christmas will be extremely busy and hectic, I had to complete my Santa duties as soon as possible. I read about taunting on a thread, and I was clueless what it was. But then I had a moment of inspiration. So I fired up my stalking engines to find everything and then some about my victim, I mean target. And I sent my first taunt. And then something strange happened. I realized that I was more excited about writing the taunt, incorporating the red herrings, making my target wonder, and receiving the replies than I was at getting the gift. I would jump up and down my room with happiness when I would conceive some new taunts or receive a reply from my target. This amazed me quite a bit - the joy of giving, and to a complete stranger. The only important thing is to know that your effort is appreciated. The couple of weeks spent in taunting and waiting for the order to arrive to my target were a beautiful time. And I was happy with the online store I used because they were very helpful and added some personal touches (and complete anonymity) to the presents.
___By that time my busy period started. And still no sound from my Secret Santa. That was quite a hard period - seeing people getting their presents and exchanging taunts, while there is just silence for me. I knew that there is no need to panic, some people just don't taunt, but that didn't make it easier one little bit. Then finally a day arrived at the end of the first third of December when I returned home and found a Christmas card waiting for me.
I assumed it was from the BGG Christmas Card Exchange, so I was shocked when I read "Greetings from your Secret Santa!" on the back of it. My Santa was real! And he was taunting me in the real world. Of course, as much as I want to be anonymous as Santa, I feel an obligation to find the identity of my Secret Santa. So I started looking who it was. The Christmas card arrived from Sweden. Upon checking their post's website I found out that it's possible to send that type of card from the website - so my Santa doesn't necessarily have to be in Sweden. The sneaky fellow! But that can't stop me. I tried to track the card from its tracking number, but navigating a site in a foreign language isn't so easy when you come to error notices (and I needed a lens to read the number). So I sent an e-mail to the Swedish post customer service (yes, the lengths I'll go to). The next day a polite lady answered me that they didn't have that tracking number. Strange, but there goes that line of enquiry. You're safe for now Santa!
___One day after getting the card from Sweden some virus (medical, not computer) got me and I had extremely high fever for 18 hours. And that happened on the eve of an important business trip, so it was questionable if I'll be able to go on it. I still wonder if that was also a part of the present. But luckily I got well and was able to make the trip. And so a hectic 10 days started. I was so busy that I forgot worrying when is my present going to arrive. But then, in the middle of the week, after lunch, I received a large cardboard package. The package looked like someone played football on a very dirty and rough floor with it - that's Croatian customs inspection for you. And the package arrived from Spain, Valencia more precisely. This confused me and I didn't want to get all excited for nothing so I kept my cool while I was climbing the three flights of stairs to my room. While climbing I carried the package with both hands, so it felt light. But I had to get the keys from my pocket so I held the package with one hand. And it was heavy. Now just a few steps separated me from the opening of the package. I put it on the bed, washed my hands, unzipped my pants, got out my Swiss army knife (what did you think, you perverts) and proceeded to find a way to cut through the yards of packaging tape (courtesy of the customs office) without damaging the content and any clues about the identity of my Secret Santa. When I finally managed to get the box open (it felt like eternity, but it probably was just a minute) I saw a square box back - full of text and not familiar. I took hold of the box, lifted it out of the package and turned it to face me. And in that moment of seeing the fronts of the game in my hands and in the package I got a shock so large that my heart almost stopped. There in front of me were Maria and Napoleon's Triumph.

I had to sit down. Never did I expect a bounty like this. My Santa went above and beyond the call of duty. And then I started jumping up and down the room from happiness. When I calmed down a little bit (some 5 minutes later) I lifted the Napoleon's Triumph box and was surprised with its weight. Tucked beside it was a white envelope. I just checked the packing paper if there was anything else in the box, and I was surprised to find a small white box. Remember the white envelope - well they go together. And they are an "up yours" to the Great White - they are the Blood Bowl: The Card Game. Beautifully hand crafted, 94 magic cards full color printed and glued on the front and back and sleeved, 12 score markers printed and laminated, a laminated cardboard pitch. And the envelope also had some great Christmas wishes from my Santa. This was like receiving a Secret Santa, a Wargame Secret Santa and a PnP Secret Santa all rolled into one. And with this haul the (extremely solid) foundations of my wargames collection are made.
___The games teased me through the rest of the busy week, standing there on the bed all seductive and shrinkwrapped. I planned on opening them on Christmas day, but I was so tired from all the work that I decided opening them on the Sunday before Christmas. And they provided me with a relaxing day. I was enjoying in the sun while sorting the components, bagging them, applying labels, sleeving cards, reading the rules. The effort of putting the tiny stickers and flags on Napoleon's Triumph's commander pieces brings to a meditating state. You clean your mind of everything, and there are only you and the metal pieces in your hands. Then I saw what the miniatures gamers see in miniatures. So thank you Santa for this restoring medicine.
___But my silent Santa wasn't done confusing me. On Monday I got another Christmas card from my Santa. This time from Canada. He really wanted to put me off his track. But I had the scent. After reading the rulebook of Blood Bowl: The Card Game I knew I had my man and descended upon him like a fury from Hell. Sadly, I wasn't right. But my furious attack broke his vow of silence and he spilled the beans about the identity of my Secret Santa. So it gives me great pleasure to present you the man who brought joy to my Christmas, the man responsible for my participation in all editions and flavors of future Secret Santa gift exchanges, a fellow who will always have a clean bed, warm food and a friendly game at my place, my 2009 Secret Santa

My Secret Santa gift arrived! I was giving up all hope that Saint Nick.

An unmarked box from coolstuffinc. arrived on my porch yesterday.

I immediately broke open the box, like a kid on Christmas morning.
Under all the peanuts I found my #1 game on my wishlist Dominion!

Digging deeper I also found:

Mamma Mia!

Another game on my wishlist. Thanks Santa!
