I got this one last year too unfortunately. A fairly complex game about a fairly uninteresting fight. Both sides start with badly depleted units. The germans have practically nothing to work with. It just seems like a small map with a few units and a very complicated rules set. The battle itself was just not doing it for me. I love wargames, but not this one.
We're charging our battery. And now we're full of energy. We are the robots. We're functioning automatik. And we are dancing mechanik. We are the robots
This is a good solid solitaire game, though as stated above, there is a lot of rules. I would lamimate the mapsheet; I have always hated unmounted maps.
A very engaging game. Take it along on your next business trip and read the rules in the plane. You won't be able to resist setting it up and playing in your hotel room, and you won't be dissappointed that you did.

Skip, do yourself a BIG favour and play this, almost forgotten gem. A good simulation but foremost; a great game. Lots of decisions, lots of action, a big map, smooth rules and extremely playable.
Outstanding game. It takes a long time to play to completion but is well worth it. Don't bother with the Western Expansion because it doesn't add much to the game other than a bunch of chrome rules that has practically no effect on who wins the game.
I have this game also. I sold my first copy that I bought in 1985 or '86..sold it after looking at the rules. I had never wargamed before and thought"Good Golly!" Now that I have been wargaming for a few years, I bought another copy and it seems very interesting and now, doable! Anyone have any idea how it plays solitaire?
This is a great game, very playable. Never had any problem with the river rules they are pretty clear you just have to count hexsides.I agree with Pete skip the FarWest option.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
I shudder to think of how many games I have bought and never played. Tragically, most of the wargames I own probably fall into this category. I backed off buying games in the 90's (Magic will do that to you...) but have recently started buying again. Sigh... it's so sad, really.
I've played all the wargames I have except "Prelude to Disaster", which is one of the most complex wargames I've ever seen, anywhere. Its about the failed Soviet offensive towards Kiev in Spring '42. The others are both April's Harvest (like the author of this list) and Matanikau. Both of these games use the same system. I dont know why I havent mastered it yet.
