Welcome everyone to the March 2010 Edition of the Geekgold for Game Lottery. Thanks Blott for the amazing Idea and thanks everyone who took part all these times.

These are the Rules

How to bid for an item?
If you see an item on this geeklist that you're interested in owning:
1. It couldn't be more simple. Just tip that entry 1 and you are entered to win that game.
2. Check the description to see if you are allowed more than one entry on the item.

How to put an item on the lottery?
If you have a game that you're willing to part with for a little geekgold:
1. Post it as an item on the list.
2. Include a full description of the edition that you have and its condition. Be very clear on conditions, marks and box
3. Specify if you will be limited in shipping options. If you ship internationally, if the shipping is on you, and if so how much.
4. Specify when your item will close for entries.
5. You can post both RPG Items and Boardgames.
6. The item must be draw before 31st of March 2010

What to do when the lottery ends?
1. When closed, draw a random name from those that have tipped your entry. If you allowed multiple entries remember to take it in consideration.
2. Contact that person and arrange shipment of the game.
3. Send them the game.
4. Edit your geeklist item on this list with a note saying that "THIS ITEM IS CLOSED!" and to put the avatar of the winner, use the code [ username=name_of_winner] (without the space) for that.
5. When an item is closed I will move it to the bottom of the list. Please don't delete them

How to find the winner?
You can use any fair method you like, like putting the names on a hat and drawing it. But there are two favored methods.

1. First we have the Original Awesome Tool. Created by jeromier. It is very simple to use, but can only deal with one type of bonus (X bonus GG for each Y GG tipped) and limit the amount of tip.

2. Second we have the Copycat Awesome Tool created by yours truly. It can deal with any amount of items drawn on your listing, and any kind of bonus calculation that deals with the tip values only (and a few others). The rolls are trackable for anyone to see, and you can use it anytime to check how many tips and the winning percentage of everyone. It has a few statistics which I'm improving on. The only thing is that for an item to use it, it must be inserted by me, and that takes about 1 or 2 days, usually.

Special notes
Special Note #1: If you are giving an item, there is no guarantee for number of entrants. You must be prepared to give away your game even if you only receive a single geekgold entry. Do not enter a game unless you are prepared for that outcome!!

Special Note #2: If for any reason you are forced to withdraw a game you offered, you must refund all geekgold tipped to your entry.

Winners and Drawn Items
Subscribe to the Subscription thread. I update it (usually) daily, and there you can find a list of new items, and the winners list of all the lists we run so far.

Item is Brand New in Shrink.

1 = 1 entry
5 = 6 entries
10 = 14 entries

Free shipping to Continental US.

If GG exceeds 250 GG. Another drawing will be performed and the winner will get 10% of the total GG of the auction.

Auction will end MARCH 29th.

And the Winner with his 1 entry!!!

(percentile dice used and would consider any number over the 69 entered to be a null value and rerolled)
I made a list based on the amount of tips...

1 GG tippers were on the top of the list
followed by 5 GG tippers
etc... so the biggest tippers had the final "slots" on my scale.

Pictured version.

Brand New in Shrink.

Free shipping to Continental US.

1 = 1 entry
5 = 6 entries
10 = 14 entries

As my other auction, if the bag exceeds 250 then another drawing will be done for 10% of the total submitted. Winner is eligible.

Auction will end March 29th.

Thanks for your entries!

I used Random.org True Random Generator based on "space noise"?...

Anyhow, the random generator on the front page I set for 1 to 210 (total # of entries). The number picked was then counted from the top of the Tips list TTB LtR. So the first entry starts with 1 and includes #'s based on tips and continues with the next entry.

Ex: Baub64 has the first slot "1", Bill_Ander has the value of "2", blackstratguy (donation of 30 GG for a value of 42), has the values of 3-44, etc.

AND THE WINNER IS...134...

Up for GG auction is ONE sealed booster pack (11 Cards) of Lord of the Rings Trading Card game-Return of the King edition. Contains 1 Rare and 1 in 6 chance of a Foil Rare. Hey, that's gotta be worth a GG, right? wait, there's more. The game gallery didn't have a copy of the cover wrapper of the Return of the King edition. So I had to put one in the database. Yes, the pack up for auction is THE pack that is represented in the Image photo shown. Your chance to own a (very, very) small part of BGG History! THAT's gotta be worth a GG, right?

You want backstory, I give you backstory: My daughter was at a party and won a contest and got to choose a prize. She knows I like 'card games' (read, seen me rip open boosters galore), so snagged this. Imagine-my cardboard crack habit enabled by my 7 year old daughter. except, i play Netrunner, Doomtown, Firestorm, Jyhad/VTES, NOT LotR. So while daughter has good intentions, this lone booster is about as useful as boobs on a bull. Seriously. So I can't sell it, might as well get some GG for it. Hey, my chutzpah alone oughta be worth a GG!!

Da Detailz:

1 GG = 1 Bid
5gg = 1 extra bid
No limit to bids or bonuses

Auction Ends: 3/10 p.m. sometime

Winner: Selected by Jeromier's Tool.

Shipping: FOR FREE. Worldwide. via USPS 1rst class padded envelope.

I wanted to use the Copycat Awesome Tool, but couldn't figure out how. I tried to use the Original Awesome Tool, but couldn't find the Geeklist Item ID# to enter (and I somehow found it two days ago. . .) so I made my own list. There were 12 tippers for a total of 126 geekgold, and with one bonus entry for each 5 geekgold tipped, there were 24 bonus entries for a total of 150 entries. Here's how the numbers were assigned:

Tippers
3ripmav 5.00 | 1-6
bane221 1.00 | 7
baub64 15.00 | 8-25
Black Canyon 1.00 | 26
celiborn 1.00 | 27
deitied 1.00 | 28
Howitzer_120mm 40.00 | 29-76
jaysachs 1.00 | 77
mightygodking 50.00 | 78-137
mrqwerty 5.00 | 138-143
SiddGames 1.00 | 144

Congrats to the winner. A geekmail is being sent. Thanks to all who entered.

Hey everybody, I have a bunch of Magic the Gathering cards that I somehow acquired (probably at at thrift store). I never played the game and I don't want them, so I thought I'd throw them in here and see if anyone else wants them. I don't think there's anything much good, but since there probably won't be many tips for this item, you'll probably have a REALLY good chance to win. I'm not going to type up a list of everything I've got, but here are the general outlines:

Total of 673 cards (give or take a couple, I may have miscounted)

Mostly commons. There are slightly more than 100 uncommons and only 2 rares (2 copies of "Upheaval"). Most of the commons and many of the uncommons have duplicates (2-5 of each card)

More than half the cards are from the Onslaught set, next most from Legions, a handful from Odyssey, Mirrodin, Darksteel and maybe one or two each from a couple other sets.

Quite a few cards (maybe 20%) have writing on the backs in Sharpie or silver marker, so if you wanted to use those ones, you'd probably have to put them in those sleeves with the opaque backs. This problem afflicts the uncommons much more than the commmons, probably at least half the uncommons have writing on the back.

Please feel free to ask any questions. I'll try to answer as best I can considering I've never played the game.

Shipping--I'll cover shipping in the U.S., but not international. I don't expect this to net me much geekgold, so I don't really want to invest a lot in shipping--sorry.

I don't expect a lot of big tips for this one, but if you want to tip 5 I'll be glad to give you 6 entries instead of 5.

I'll end this at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on March 15th, choose a winner within a couple of days and then contact them via geekmail. Although I'm thinking I may not have to choose a winner. I'm kind of expecting no entries on this one, since I've gleaned enough about Magic over the years to know this is not exactly a choice selection of cards.

So, you think your Puerto Rico games are getting stale? Everything feels just too scripted and the novelty has worn out?

THE SOLUTION IS HERE!!!

The Nobles expansion adds a new kind of worker to the game (the nobles, of course), along with 8 new buildings (7 small and 1 big). As another plus, with this expansion the number of colonists does not trigger the end of the game (so, no counting colonists anymore!). Level up your game with a whole new layer of decision-making: most of the new buildings have different effects depending on which worker (noble or colonist) is employed in it.

Don't be a peasant! Add the nobles to your PR game right now!!!

Only to clarify, this is an auction for the NOBLES EXPANSION (it DOES NOT include the original Puerto Rico game)
. But it includes:
7 different small buildings (two copies of each) and 1 big building PLUS 20 small red discs to represent the nobles.

Now for the rules:

Free shipping inside Brazil
I'll cover first 10$ shipping anywhere else
At 150 geekgold I will ship free worldwide. - AMOUNT REACHED!

1 = 1 entry
5 = 6 entries

Auction ends March 31st. I'll use Sol's tool to draw the winner.

edit: changed bag for 5 ; clearer this way.

WHAT IS IT?
Fortress Europa by Avalon Hill

CONDITION
Unplayed. Most counters unpunched, a few have fallen out and are in a small ziplock with the die. Play aid cards still adhesived together at the top. Comes with a PBM Kit, and Second edition rules with a printout of errata from the Grognard.com web site. Box a bit battered with shelf wear. I bought this second hand from an eBay seller many years ago because I wanted to get back into the hobby after a hiatus, but then Memoir 44 came along and I never got this one to the table. Now I'm mainlining Combat Commander.

BIDS*
x 1 = 1 entry.
x 5 = 6 entries.

SHIPPING
I will pay shipping in the U.S. or will contribute $10 toward foreign shipping. If GG bids go over 500, I will contribute an additional $10 to shipping, and another $10 for each 100 over that.

surprise BONUS
If the bidding goes over 250, I will choose at random one of my Science Fiction novels and include it in the box, no extra charge (did I mention that by "my Science Fiction novels", I mean ones that I wrote and were published by real publishers in the 80's and 90's?). I will even autograph it for you, to you, your Aunt Gertrude, your dog, whomever you choose. Neat! They make great gifts or shims for washing machines if you have uneven floors in your house (and I am speaking from experience here).

(For information on my books, go here.)

THE WINNER
Bidding closes at 5pm ET on March 31, 2010. I will use one of the random choosy gizmos available to pick the winner sometime that evening. Shipping shortly thereafter.

Congrats to IrishFire.

I will be creating the special purchase link for entrants to this lottery and will geekmail them to you later today.

Thanks to everyone who entered!

I'm putting up a new and unplayed copy of my Ogre Castle game. It's a self-published little game that's great for the entire family and it has been getting good reviews here on BGG. The Dice Tower's family-game reviewer Mark Zielinsky gave it a glowing review in episode #156 and, in episode #164 part 1, Mark named it as his "Best Surprise Game" of 2009. If you're looking for an enjoyable way to spend the evening with your family, this it the perfect solution.

I'll run this lottery until 8:00am Pacific Time on March 14th and then draw the winner ASAP.

1GG = 1 Entry and you may enter as often as you like.

I will pay for shipping to anywhere in the world.

I will use the random generators at Random.org to select the winner.

LOTTERY BONUS #1: If the GeekGold tips get to 200 I will choose a BONUS winner right away and that person will win an official Ogre Castle Mug. This winner will still be eligible to win the game when the lottery ends on March 14th.

The mug features a full wrap-around design with the Ogre and his gems on the left, the Knights ready to storm the castle on the right, and a close-up of the Red Knight's gate room in the center. With this mug holding your morning brew you'll be the envy of every Ogre on the block.

mbuckingham won the Ogre Castle Mug...BUT REMEMBER...That's just the Mug.
The game winner will be drawn on March 14th so keep on tipping.

LOTTERY BONUS #2: Every person who enters the lottery will receive a URL where they can purchase a copy of Ogre Castle and receive a FREE Ogre Castle Booster Deck with new spells to torment the Ogre, annoy your fellow Knights, and assist your gem thieving efforts. The URL will be geekmailed to the entrants at the close of the Lottery.

Trust me. You know it makes sense
mbmbmbmbmb
CLOSED
Lost Cities is a card game from the Kosmos two-player series. The object is to mount profitable expeditions to one or more of the five different lost cities. Card play is quite straightforward, with a few agonizing moments sprinkled through what is mostly a fast-moving game. If you start a given expedition, you'd better make some progress in it, or it'll score you negative points. If you can make a lot of progress, you'll score quite well. After three rounds, the highest total score takes the day.

CONDITION Played 20 times or so but treated well. Cards and board are not scuffed marked or warped. I describe the condition as very good. Game is complete with original rules and box - both unmarked

I am selling this as this is one game game my wife keeps beating me at. I am not a sore loser. Not yet anyway. Once this game has gone I will never lose at it again devil Problem solved whistle

SHIPPING Free Worldwide.

END DATE 31st March seems good to me. I'll draw the winner some time on the 1st April.

Let's dig into my collection of dice again...

This lottery is for one set of transparent blue Elven Dice from Q-workshop, in perfect condition (still in an unopened blister pack.)

Shipping worldwide is free, but don't expect them to be delivered overnight!

One GG gets you one entry. Every 5 GG tipped gives you a bonus entry.

This item will close on midnight March 21st, and then the winner will be chosen by rolling d100 (or a more appropriate d) against a table with the nicknames of all the entrants - who am I kidding... I will just use The Copycat Awesome Tool (it has proven its worth in the past!)
