A gaming tour is a roster of gaming experiences led by a veteran gamer. Some tours follow a loose story line, others have a unifying theme, and yet others were all donated by a single publisher. Your friendly tour guide will explain and play the games with you and other tourists. We hope this will provide a casual gaming outlet for those who would prefer something a little more organized than the open gaming format, who would like to meet some new people, or who want to be introduced to some new game titles.

Embark on as many tours as you like, but once you join a tour, it would be ideal to stick with it until the end or help locate a replacement. Playing games on the tours will earn you entries into prize drawings during the weekend.

We welcome signing up ahead of time to ensure space in our gaming tours. If demand is high, we'll know to schedule multiple guides for a tour or to be prepared for a shotgun start (where different groups start with different games in the tour). Feel free to comment if you plan on participating in a tour, or (if you don't have a Geek account) e-mailing us to reserve your spot.

See you Friday, April 30th!!

Deciphering the Jargon
Friday, 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Reunification wasn't the only thing happening in 1990s Germany, the modern resurgence of board games also took off. With it, a new jargon for board game players was created. Area control? Tile placement? What exactly is a Knizia? Did I eat a Uwe Rosenberg at the beer hall last night? Embark with us on this tour as we explore some of the different major types of 1990s German games and their designers. Great for someone new to the hobby to explore some older titles or for that grizzled vet looking to get back to his or her roots.

Very Best of Strategy Games
Friday, 3 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Each game on this tour has been around for at least 5 years, is currently in Boardgamegeek's top 10 list and has a particularly strategic focus. Caylus is a classic worker placement game. Power Grid has a unique economic element. And Puerto Rico is a role selection game that has dominated the number 1 position on the geek for most of its lifetime. Spend your afternoon discovering or reliving some of the best strategy games available in the genre.

Each is easy to learn and fun to play - plus, they're still engaging while letting you rest some gray matter for the all night Die Macher game that you're planning. Saturday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

The Tour of the History of the Universe Tour (faux grandiosity / redundancy included at no charge!) marches through key points of human history. Experience some of mankind's greatest triumphs and tragedies, but beware: all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again. This tour will be guided by Russ Rupe, co-designer of Warlords of Europe (which you'll play on the tour!).

Me too.

Just wanted to say that BSG will be without Pegasus. We may be needing to teach (which would be great...no BSG TV show experience necessary to enjoy this great game), and we want to keep it as short as possible.

To that end, if we end up with tourists numbering in a multiple of 3, we'll probably break Warlords into 3-player games to help keep it short. If we do have a multiple of 4 players, we'll do the shorter Central focus game.

Tour designed by Reiner Knizia
Saturday, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

All aboard for some exciting and exotic travels with the good doctor Knizia. After acquiring some foreign currency, you set foot on board the ship that's taking you to your destination - let's hope there aren't too many icebergs about at this time of year. Then you have a choice of expeditions as you quest to explore lost civilizations - and finally arrive in Middle Earth for the most difficult adventure of them all.
