This geeklist is a spin-off series - like Torchwood - of the Australian Chain of Generosity - itself a spin-off!

I am starting this Geeklist to reduce confusion between lists! This geeklist is specifically for cheap, small or card games, whereas the other list is for anything! Except free love (you hear that Randy! )

EDIT: The card game chain seems to me to be a quick and easy style of thing. Quick silver in the hand. A dragons tail twitching out of sight behind a pile of inviting rubble. The flash of a reforged blade in the light of the dawn of a new era...

To this effect, I really think items added need to be smaller games - not just card games! And that the turn-around between adding an item and drawing the item should be swift and sure - like vengence. "Khello, my name is Inigo Montoya..."

So lets say, keep items up for no longer than 5 days if you possibly can!

If you have an issue with this let's have a discussion in the comments section - so please - if this should be revised post there... Till then, tis the law as I have spake it! Spake it good, oh yeah.

From the Chain of Generosity GL:

This list is inspired by:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/24780/

Here is how it works.
(lifted from the geeklist above, with some modification)

Boardgamegeek is a wonderful place. The friendly, helpful, generous users here make this one of the best online communities. I (also) would like to contribute to that spirit, so I have created the Australian BGG Chain of Generosity.

Here's how the Australian BGG Chain of Generosity (The Chain) works:

Step 1: The supplier (I will start) will seed the geeklist with a giveaway game. Anyone who wants that game can leave a comment to that effect. After 2-7 days (lister to determine) the original lister will randomly choose (using the random integer generator at random.org) a recipient for the game, post the result in the comment and geekmail them to set up shipping to their house.

Step 2: The recipient of the game will then choose a game from their collection (probably from their trade list) and post it as an item here for more people (or maybe the same people) to comment on and enter. After 2-7 days they will randomly select an entrant, and that person will win the game. Contact and setup shipping etc.

Step 3: The new recipient repeats step 2.

and so on, happily ever after...

The Fine Print. (RULES)
1. You must comment to the item in question indicating you wish to be in the drawing to recieve it in order to be eligible to win.

2. If you win one, you MUST post a game of your own to give away in this fashion. If you don't like that idea, don't play.

3. In the unlikely event that no offers are made on your game with in 2 days after posting, try a different game in its place and make a note of that in the comments.

4. Supplier pays shipping, unless they indicate within the entry that the recipient will and under what grounds. Anyone signing up to receive an item where recipient pays shipping agrees to do so.

5. This Chain is only elligible for BGG members who have a postage location within Australia.

6. Whenever you list a new item, please also post in the associated forum thread that a new item is on the list.

Other Considerations:

The game you post should be one that most of the Australian BGG community might want to have. Ideally, one on your trade list. The dual-purpose of this list is to spread goodwill and give unliked games a good home.

You can win multiple times. Just keep in mind each time you win a game you'll be giving another one away.

Keep the generosity flowing and post your next game giveaway as soon as you can. You do not need to wait until you recieve the game you won before you post your giveaway game.

Let the games begin.

EDIT: Insert of Away Rule.
7. If you are the winner you need to contact the lister within 7 days of the draw completion. If you have not contacted the lister within 7 days the lister may nominate a new winner at random.

There are a couple of options here:

Ruse and Bruise:

A neat little card game, reminds me of a Faidutti game for those who like that sort of thing. I think it's quite a good game!

Scarab Lords:

A neat little FFG game by Knizia - I quite like it, though my wife doesn't so much!

Edit: I'll draw this Sunday!

Ok next up is a never played (but out of shrink wrap) copy of

Covert Action

I got it to play as a Werewolf type game with my game group, but currently Times Up: Title Recall and Werewolf itself are just too popular, so it has never made it.

As an alternative, I can offer

Masters Gallery

only played a couple of times.
Just doesn't grab me I'm afraid (I'm a theme man).

Winner to be drawn this Sunday evening (25th Apr - Anzac Day) around 9pm.

My first love, also my first contribution to the chain! Below are the options that will be available to any takers between now and the 20th of May. If you're interested, post a comment and you're entered!

Option 1: 500 Legend of the Five Rings Cards, including everything needed to play. I've been playing for years and have many spare cards, sothere will be a number of rare/useful cards here, it isn't just a hundred copies of the same dumb common card.

Option 2: Mystery Grab Bag - I've been collecting CCGs as long as there have been CCGs. The Mystery Grab bag will give you (hopefully) playable samples of a selection of games from my CCG collection.

Option 3: 20 - just in case nothing else on the list appeals.

As I uncover more of my games (I'm renovating a little right now), I may add to these selections - keep your eyes peeled!

My general feeling is that the 'card' game chain should be something with a quick turnover (say at most a week) and with smaller games - not just card games per se. So with that in mind I humbly profer the following:

Waterloo 20

A neat little war game that plays quick and isn't overly complex. I like it, just won't play it regularly. Counters are punched, but no clipped (what's that about?), but the game is in very good condition - a Victory Point zip-lock bag game.

Scarab Lords

I like this, despite the average ratings. It is a neat little two-player game by Knizia.

2 de Mayo

This is a neat game, just not my style of game I think. I have used some printed off order sheets, and there are some extra printed sheets in the box - though they are easily available here on BGG.

Alibi

A Mayfair deduction style game. I have never played it - but a friend has and said it was quite good fun - for me the jury is out but I'm unlikely to play it soon so here it is here!

So these are the games on offer. Since I said I think the Card Game Chain should have a quick turn-around I will draw this Monday afternoon, if that's not quick enough for some, then I shall endeavor to do better next time - but I warn you - I will be moving so fast that time dilation will mean that even though I am moving so fast it will seem even longer to you! NARNIA!

Yours truly. Yours humbly.

Giles.

WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

I will be putting up some options within the next 6 hours.

Sorry for the slow update, I was caught in a webinar yesterday and couldn't get home at lunch to see what I had to offer. Here goes...

Choose one of...

OPTIONS

Warriors - By Alan Moon. Interesting game for 4 players (don't play with just 2)

Long Live the King - Party Game for 8+ players. Which almost exceeds the population of Ballarat...

Roma - Feld Design. Quite a good game, but the only guy I play with also owns it!

Red November - Co-op. Not quite a card game, but it comes in a jam-packed small box. I tried to fit it all back in the box, I wasn't very successful.

Naval War - Good old fashioned shoot 'em up which has seen lots of play and is quite dog-eared tired. Well worn. Well played. Well loved.

All options are used. But they should be complete and should be in decent condition. I don't recall anything wrong with any of them. EXCEPT NAVAL WAR (as mentioned above). But there could be minor blemishes.

Put your hand up quick, cause I'll likely end this in 48 hours (Friday afternoon) so a new offering can come up for the weekend.

I've avoided this chain as my card game collection is kind of small and whatever is there I want to keep. I've had to be somewhat ruthless and ask the hard question of a few favourites. So I hope there is some love amongst you for this lot. Pick one of the following options.

Option 1: Wings of War: The Dawn of World War II. I have several of the WWI minis so am more likely to play that than this WWII version. It is in very good condition.

Option 2: Cutthroat Caverns. The box is slightly damaged but the contents are in very good condition.

Option 3: Saboteur. In very good condition.

Option 4: MilSims Voucher for $25. In a very 'at-MilSims' condition.

I'll draw it on Friday 16th, 12 noon.

Okey Dokey...let's see what we have here....

I'm offering up one of the following games:

1. BANG! (Mayfair Version)

2. Balloon Cup (Version as Pictured)

3. Caesar & Cleopatra (Rio Grande Version)

4. Canal Grande (Version as Pictured)

5. Titan: The Arena (Original Avalon Hill version as pictured)

6. Lifeboat (Version as Pictured)

I would describe all of these as good - reasonable condition. They've all been played, but mostly only two or three times (Except Titan which I received in a trade)

Note: I'm planning a mass-liquidation of my collection via an auction later this week (Plug!). Consequently, I'd like this to move quite quickly so I know what I do and don't have for that.

So, assuming there are takers, I'll wrap this up at 5pm sand-groper time on Tuesday...

Behold ye gentlemen, and yea, evan shall ye behold also gentlewomen, and yea also, behold those with both the bits of the gentlemen and gentlewomen, though ye may be small in number statistically speaking.

Verily ye who enter this here competition may herein and aftertime it being drawn select a twain of games that catcheth-ethcatch the eye and fire thy loins to an inferno of furious desire. And having thus selected the pair, ye shall, upon crying: 'yea', in a geekmail, be then sent these games by the fastest carriage that a silver gizzard will afford.

And lo, shall there be much caterwauling at the post offices of the nation, as the mighty one bears his package and says: "See this staff!" and holding it in one hand, then cries "This shall keep ME busy for a good few nights yet!" Though if she in fact be a woman who wins: boasting shall she have also, though I'd better not write that bit.

Two games shall ye pick from this list and two only. That is twice as many as if thou were picking 1 game, and 7 fewer games than if thou hadst been ask'd to pick but 9 games. No fraction of a game may thou pickest, nor decimal or percentage either, even if all the fractions add to 2 whole games, unless they verily be the halves of same game, or four halves of two games only - in which case thou art a fool and I should cut the cards and bits in twain afore they be sent in mockery of thou misshapen frontal lobe that couldst contemplate such a thing:

_____________

Arena Maximus:

A fun little beer and snacks style chariot race.

Scarab Lords

A fun little card game for two by Knizia.

Ponte del Diavolo

Another two-player game. Very nice to look at - abstracts aren't really my thing.

Albion 20

A simple little hex and counter wargame.

Samurai: The Card Game

Not a bad little card game - probably most interesting with 3 or 4 players.

______________________________________
These then are the choices, choose well ye all!

I shall draw this by the crowing of the bat this Thursday eve!

Cheers,

Giles.

All reality is a game. Physics at its most fundamental, the very fabric of our universe, results directly from the interaction of certain fairly simple rules, and chance... (Iain Banks)

Righto. The winner will receive a copy of Architekton. Due to my incompetence during the second-most-recent maths trade, I ended up with two copies. This is one copy too many (Since I now have Fjords, it's two copies too many, but I digress... ).

An important note (possibly): Architekton comes with a print-out of the rules, not the original (again, this is how it came). Sorry, forgot this earlier. If anyone wants to back out, no worries.

Here's a picture of the bits and the back of the box:

Note that this copy does not have a box insert. That's how it came. I can state with good authority that you won't miss it. Anyone with a camera and need of geekgold should consider getting Architekton; there are only 16 pictures in the gallery and three of those are of a home-made copy.

In addition, our lucky winner may choose one of the following:

1 Stack Market, a strategy/dexterity game that involves retrieving wooden cubes from under distant pieces of furniture:

Box Contents:

See! Played by famous-in-this-tiny-niche video reviewers!

This photo should also give a hint as to why this game is actually about retrieving cubes from under distant pieces of furniture...

Or

2 Odin's Ravens. It's a race game for two players; you play cards to pass over matching terrain. There are some special cards with which you can harass your opponent or gain advantage. I think most people have heard of it, but here's a piccy anyway:

and finally, choose one of these two as well:

1 Mü & More - RGG Ed in the little box, which nonetheless is twice as big as it needs to be. Has been used twice, I think, made redundant by the impending reprint of Bargain Hunter.

or

2 Tichu - Abacusspiele Ed, unplayed copy with shrink removed.

Winner will be determined by rolling Erin's new giant inflatable d20 (which could be the only practical use it ever sees).
EDIT: That's not Erin in the picture...

Ok. Here's the story. I picked up this game in a previous trade and I still haven't gotten around to playing it.

So I'm keeping it.

But I didn't realise I owned it, so I ordered a second copy from Games Paradise by accident as they had(have) it on sale.

Games Paradise shipped out half my order and I then said "Doh!" I guess I've got a copy to trade. But they missed half my order so I told them "you missed half my order." (I'm quite to-the-point sometimes).

Anywho, GP then sent out the second half of my order, but instead of shipping Aton, they sent me a second copy of Mesopotamia!

So I told them and they apologised, told me to keep the extra copy, and sent out Aton.

So, I've now got 3 copies (in shrink) of Mesopotamia!

It's a "big box" game, but since I got a 2:1 offer and on sale, I don't mind passing on a copy here.

As well as Mesopotamia, I'll add/substitute any/all of the following that you are interested in:

Cleopatra's Gambit
Some Magic Cards
Some Heroclix
Some Dreamblade Miniatures
Wasabi! (box is not in perfect condition, one corner a bit squished and another a bit torn - Contents in pristine condition and bagged. Insert Discarded cause it didn't fit!)

So, the winner can just tell me what (s)he wants, and I'll post the lot off.

OK. Since I've been the lucky recipient of such a generous group, here is my offering in return.

Arkham Horror.

I actually picked-up this game from Jamie Hindley's big garage sale, and I can attest that Jamie always kept his games in excellent condition.

Played it twice and whilst I enjoyed it, it was just too long and laborious for my friends and family (damn people with short attention spans). So I doubt it will ever see the light of day again in my house.

Therefore, it needs to go to a good home, where it will be well cared for and played often.

The game is fully intact and in excellent condition.

Let's set a date of Wednesday night 8 September 6:00pm for the random draw.

Whack your name below and good luck!

Let's keep the chain chugging along quickly. Here goes...

Choose TWO of the following:

Cold War: CIA vs KGB

Keltis: Das Kartenspiel

Keltis: Neue Wege, Neue Ziele

Note that this is an EXPANSION for Keltis, not a full game.

Keltis: Der Weg der Steine Mitbringspiel

This is a Keltis mini game.

I'll draw a lucky winner using random.org on Sunday evening sometime.

Shazamm!

**EDIT**

The winner has been announced below in the comments section.
