This is a GeekList for cool Android games that aren't necessarily actual boardgames.
Official versions of boardgames or games that are extremely similar to actual boardgames should be added here: Android versions of actual boardgames instead.
Updated to include RPGGeek and VideoGameGeek as well so it is now possible to add RPG and VGG items.
=================================
To find the apps listed below a smart place to start is Google Play: https://play.google.com/
You'll sometimes see QR codes likes this one:
You can use a barcode scanner to read this image and it will translate into a link and take you directly to the app in question. Try it out on the QR code listed here, should take you to the BGG main page.
Most handsets include a barcode reader from start, otherwise get one here.
RULES FOR THIS LIST
1) No duplicate entries. Make a comment in the existing item instead that there's another game available that plays similar to the listed item. 2) Official versions of boardgames or games that are extremely similar to actual boardgames should be added here: Android versions of actual boardgames

Civilization Tech Helper
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.civtechtracker
From the market description: Tired of doing pesky "math" to determine tech costs? This is a tech cost calculator for the old Avalon Hill board game Advanced Civilization, http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgameexpansion/177/advanced-civ.... It's really simple to use. After buying tech, check the boxes next to the techs you bought. Credits are then applied towards remaining techs, and the costs updated. Designed to speed up the tech purchasing stage of the game by performing the tedious math of credit computation for you. Use that extra time to scope out the game state, pretend you're doing math out loud while your opponents' are trying to add up their credits in their head, or to get some potato chips and ding dongs from the communal food area.

Rommel in Africa - new hex wargame with 3 scenarios. Free in marketplace uploaded by me yesterday.
You can play the Italian invasion of 1940, which went horribly wrong; the arrival of Rommel in 1941 and his subsequent conquest of cyrenacia (sans Tobruk); operation Crusader where Auchinlek beat Rommel.
Playtest as of now, but works and you can either play 2 player or either side against AI.

One of my favorite video board games. Not the exact version, but a hex version with different boards, which I've seen done before, and which is arguably better than the original square boards. This is a good version. I have trouble beating the medium intelligence depending on the board layout. It can even play more than 2 player, which I haven't seen before.

There are probably multiple versions of backgammon. The one that I have, from AI factory, is adequate, if not exactly stellar. The AI has 3 levels - the lowest level is about as good as a three year old. Cat. The highest level is OK, if not brilliant (too conservative, I would suggest).
Graphics are not too bad. The UI regularly irritates me especially with continued repeating of the obvious, especially with things like an opponent on the bar not being able to enter popping up a box to say so. Even when you have a full table, so it is bound to be the case whatever is thrown.
And they put the doubling cube in the wrong place.

Found under the name "BagChal" by TechnoGuff, this is a great implementation of this traditional game

The Battle for Wesnoth was finally ported to Android. There is a free version with a couple of levels and a $3.99 version with many campaigns and a couple hundred levels.
Battle for Wesnoth is a hex grid turn based strategy game in a fantasy setting. Akin to Advance Wars or Final Fantasy tactics, new units can be purchased during a battle but experience units can also be recalled from prior battles so there is incentive to carefully manage attrition.
Game play is fundamentally the same as the PC/Mac/Linux version, which is open source and free. It also has the same polished graphics of the original, although some of the detail is lost given the size of the screen. Some of the text is also super tiny.
The biggest drawback is probably the fact that the install is fairly large 11MB or 28MB and an additional 200MB of content has to be downloaded in order to play.

Discovered a free version of Button Soccor called "Pocket Soccer" (by rastergrid) by way of this review:
http://meandmydroid.blogspot.com/2011/03/pocket-soccer.html
You can get it here:
I haven't been able to play around with it much, but seems pretty fun so far. The learning curve is steeper than I thought it would be and I got trounced by the AI my first game.
Can be played against an AI, or two-player face-to-face.
Seems very polished.
EDIT: Just noticed that the review linked to above is by a fellow BGGer (added the "Can't Stop" entry on this list):

Not a whole lot I can ay about this, as I only recently got the ability to play this and Shadow Era on my phone. But it looks a little like the old Gamecube game C.A.R.D Revolution. I liked that one. I think I'll like this one to.
Incidently I only found it on amazon so far. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Kyy-Games-Oy-Cabals-Card/dp/B006H7WKHQ...

Well, actually it's Roll Or Don't... a Can't Stop clone, but it's done VERY well with solid AI.
Oh, and to plug my site, I do a website (currently blog format) with Android game reviews (Roll or Don't is reviewed there) at http://www.MeAndMyDroid.com/. Check it out and if you've got a new Android board game please let me know as I'd be happy to review it.
