As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you, now remain in my love. You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. -- Jesus Christ
This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Weekly Thrift List Wayback Machine The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly thrift lists through time, and will be adding stats and interesting tidbits for each week. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/48522

German edition as pictured. Still in shrink. Quite good, as this wooden edition is oop in Germany. So this makes good trade fodder. Especially if I got not 1 but three of these for just 2 Euro each (realistic market value around 15-20 Euro). Cane together with...
On our rainy, indoor July 4th with extended family we played Outburst, and it was the first time my kids (ages 9 and 11) played that. They liked it, except they were frustrated that they couldn't help with so many categories (such as "John Travolta Co-Stars"). So I told them I would watch for an Outburst Jr. in my thrifting rounds.
Sure enough today I find one, $2.99 at Kirkland VV.*
* More to the story. In the morning when dropping my daughter off at her camp, I stopped by this VV and found 3M's Foil. I looked it over and wasn't sure I wanted it, plus a couple of the cards had water or coffee stains, so I left it. I read the full review of it here on BGG during the day and decided it was worth the $2.99 after all, but when I went back on the way to pick her up, it was gone! (But now Outburst Jr was there, when it hadn't been there in the morning.) The moral of this story to me is.... when in doubt, don't leave it behind!
My third entry this week, quite a lucky haul for me but I'm gonna need another game shelf soon!
I've been wanting to find one of the "10 Days" series, and today this one was at Half-Price Books, still in shrink for $4.98. I was pleasantly surprised by the price, as they have been pricing their games pretty high-- for example, they also have a used copy of Executive Decision there for $15 right now.
