We all have game 'wishlists' which can often be VERY long (at least in my case)

Often the list will include vintage/rare/costly games, all of which can make acquiring a copy difficult.

So this list is for your most coveted game, and why you want is SOOOOO bad

One 'Grail' only though

I have been lucky enought to get most of my grail games.

This is my current grail game. I still have the copy I got when I was a kid but the box top is in bad shape and I am missing 3 of the doom buggies. I want a complete copy but don't want to pay $200.00 for what basically are just a few missing parts.

A lot of good memories with this game.

Probably Dragon Pass, but more just for the nostalgia, and to re-acquire it, rather than the game play. Although it's not a bad game. I just don't have an area to leave it set up, or the time to play it these days. It was one of my first serious board games. It's also quite beautiful, IMO. Kind of pricey now too. soblue

In honor of my Scottish ancestry I am attempting to collect every game I can find with a theme that is directly related to Scotland. I have found 46 that fit my criteria, and now own 10 of them. This one is a combination of one that I want badly, and is difficult to find. Only 4 geeks own it and the last time one came up on eBay (back in 2009) the seller was asking $265. A little rich for my blood.

My secondary grails, which are probably almost as hard to find, would be these two:

Touring Scotland
( No image available. GG for anyone who submits any pictures. )

which came out in 1930, and is unlikely to be available, and

Sweep!

a curling game from 1971.

I'm also wanting a copy of this:

The Scottish Malts

which is currently unpublished, but the designer will build you a copy, once you have acquired a cube tower from either Shogun or Wallenstein (first edition). Fat chance finding a parts copy of either one of those.

My grail game is not even n the database. There was a video game called Earthbound? I have never played it but suposedly there was some minor characters call the slot brothers. Someone produced a basic card/dice called Slot Borthers push your luck game similar to cosmic wimpout but better. I played about two years ago and have never seen it again. I was at small con and I don't know who was the owner. This one of the few refences of on the web.

Been waiting a long time for this one. I do hope its out in time for Christmas and I get an extremely benevolent Secret Santa!!!!

Other grail games include Robo-Rally and Robo-Rally Armed and Dangerous, managed to get original WOTC versions of these and the A&D was virtually unpunched!!

Drifting away slightly I used to collect Subbuteo (as well as playing it , which I still do) I wanted one particular set. The Munich Edition.
This was; and still is; the grail for Subuteo collectors and enthusiasts.

I blundered into one quite by accident. Subsequently sold it, and my entire collection some years ago.
Wouldn`t mind another one though!!!! just for the nostalgia kick of A the game and B the fun had whilst building the collection.

Two games I would really like to have are Magic Realm and Merchant of Venus, but for those it's more a matter of putting together the motivation to construct the redesigns.

I once owned Dark Tower and Dune, both were destroyed by water damage in my mother's basement. I can't say I miss them terribly though. If I had Dune I'd try to put together a group to play it, but it doesn't call to me from the grave or anything.

Probably my main grail game for the last year or two has been Ace of Aces: Balloon Buster. I had the other three games in the early '80s series and I wanted to have the complete collection. It often shows up on e-bay starting at $50 - $60 and gets bid up to around $100. Recently an auction started at a lower price so I put my bid in expecting to get outbid. I did get outbid but a couple days later I got an e-mail offering me a second chance at my bid and I took it.

So now I have the complete collection sitting on my shelf in their worn bookcase sleeves. Sometimes a grail game story has a happy ending.

C'mon. It's a DIPLOMACY variant. And Diplomacy is repeatedly vilified on here by the euro fanboys who can't emotionally handle a bit of honest backstabbery.

So how is it this one regularly runs over $80 or $90 in the BGG marketplace and eBay!?!?!?!?!? There are two ass-hats BGG users who have theirs priced at $115!

One of these days, I will get lucky.

Well, this certainly requires some explanation.

I got this in a Dragon Magazine when I was pretty young - judging from the publication date, I was probably seven. I thought it was great. I loved the theme and the whimsical art. But as a kid, I always had trouble finding people who wanted to play games as much as I did. Not too many years later (I couldn't have been older than 10 or 11) I threw out my copy in a fit of junk clearing. I figured I hadn't played it in years, so why hold on to it?

Well, I knew why, but I refused to listen to that voice. I almost immediately felt a pang of regret. It has stayed with me in some small way since that day!

Elefant Hunt: my Rosebud.

CARRIER was a grail game for a long time before I decided to just cough up the cash and snag it. I finally decided to tackle it in the last several months and it was a grail game for me for a good reason - it is truly a classic in solo game design. Now I want Carriers companion game Tokyo Express but I am in no position to cough up the cash at this point and it is a tough one to trade for.

UPDATE: Found and snagged an unpunched mint copy for 50 including shipping - a great deal.

Well since I haven't paid for this yet, it's still my grail game... I've always been very interested in games about feudal Japan, and this game has been sitting atop my list for some time.

After waiting for a copy to turn up that had the expansions included, I was overjoyed to find one eBay a couple days ago, and I knew it had to be mine. So I put in a big bid and won it earlier today. Thankfully my birthday is soon, so the wife was accommodating.

However, since I cannot read Japanese, playing it will be challenge. Lol

A lot of my grail objects are boards for various abstract games. I'd love to have a board for 10x10 othello sized to be used with discs from the Tsukuda tournament othello boards.

A nice wooden 12x12 board for Canadian / Malaysian checkers.

A wooden *Star board large enough to use go stones for pieces.

I'd also loce a wooden Game of Y board (in the Kadon style, with 5-connected internal points and curving lines), but with a bigger grid than the one they are selling.

Some of the luxury Nestor editions fit here as well - I would love to have them, but they're too expensive to justify the cost.

Looking at more traditional grail games, I guess it's currently Ogre Designer's edition - I did take part in the kickstarter, so it should come eventually to me.

A billion years ago when I was a little kid, my neighbor had a jerky older brother who threw metal lawn darts at us and subjected us to other torments. The worst thing he ever did was withhold this game from us. He claimed we were too little to play it. I always remembered the board and pieces so vividly but couldn't recall the name. Finally, I stumbled across it while looking through a BGG list of games from the 70s. My jaw dropped when I saw the board... wow

Ever closer to my holy grail...
