3rd. Price: Bonus winner

Well, this one was the hardest one for me. I had 13 entries chosen and I had this secret thing in my mind I used to search for the third winner.
I looked for three things:
1) Congrats to me and Agnes
2) Correct entry
3) Great reasoning or story

I had some trouble of deciding here, because there were so many good ones, so I was able to choose 3 best ones and from them I randomly draw the winner. I'm sorry, I'm weak, I wish I could give you all something great.

So, the winner:

As for the price, I thought here many things, but this one is like the third price, so I will make it 15$ game winner choosing, so choose well.

I hope there is no hard feelings from all the rest participants.
I can tell you that this is not my last give away, so be on the alert.

I hope all the winner now can help me to get their games as cheap as possible, somewhere near them would be best.

THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING PART IN THIS!

Hello, hello to all.

I wasn't planning to give away any games again any time soon, because I just had one give away after I got the Love Spreader award, but now I got another award - Geek Of The Week.
And to celebrate this I decided to give away 3 games to random user here on BGG.

Las time I had 5 items I chose random, but this I thought we could do something little more different. These games I offered last time might not be what you want, so this time we do the following:

First you could thumb this list to keep this on the first page as long as possible.
Then you add here geek list item with the name of the game you wish to have. Only rule is that the game should cost less than 60$ (because I will pay the shipping too). Then write short about why you want this game. This might be just few words, but I would love to read them all. And to the end add a second game you would like, if for some reason your first choice wasn't picked as winner. I will make the first item as example for you all anyways.
The second game you add should be valued less than 30$ (again, I will pay for shipping)

Drawing: I will draw this item on the 5th of September, because this is Agnes's birthday (user LilyGirl). Drawing will be easy - use random number generator to pick two users.
1st. winner will get the game he/she listed as item.
2nd. winner will get the game he/she wrote as second choice.

Bonuses: This wouldn't be as fun without bonuses. Same bonus as last time - for every 0.5 tip to this geek list you will be added to the draw one additional time.

Bonus 2:
Who will write me best reason/story/words why he/she wants the main listed game and for some reason don't win, will get something special from me. Maybe something off her/his wish list as third winner.

Things to remember:

1. Recommend this list.
2. Add item with game in 60$ dollars, write short reason and then add second game under 30$
3. You can get additional bonus for 0.5 for tipping the list.
4. Check back with the list around 5th of September, Agnes's birthday.

Good luck.

PS! Edit: Everyone check your entries. Check that games are cheaper than the numbers I wrote before. If it is more expensive, I hope you have solution written there (like you are willing to pay for shipping), because I will not accept the offer to pay the difference to me, because the shipping is more expensive for larger and more expensive games. You can offer to pay for shipping.
Also check that you have selected only one game for 60 and 30 dollars, so total of 2 games. I will not accept a list of games to choose from. Choose now or later I will draw your name and you have there a large number of games, I will draw another winner.
Also everyone who has entered their wishes as comments, make them as geeklist items as well.
Drawing will be later today, Sunday the 5th...

Why? - As winner of the Spiel des Jahres clearly this game is the finest one on the market right now. And the fact that it is missing from my collection just makes me question my own geek cred. Besides I'm a true lover of party games, and when a party game finally wins the biggest award in gaming...I need to own it! Perhaps it seems shallow, perhaps the real reason should be "It would be fun to play with my family!" or something like that. And, to tell the truth, it will be something fun to play with my family, but I'd be lying to you if I didn't admit that the SdJ and all the positive reviews I've read have influenced my desire to own it a lot more.

The second game - BasketBoss

My first choice would be, Confucius. I really want to try the gift giving mechanism, but I know it'll never make it to the top of my purchase list.

2nd choice: Pandemic: On the Brink. I think this expansion would add a lot of mileage to this game and get it back to the table more.

First off, thanks for your generosity and consideration.

1st choice
Dominion Intrigue - My family has caught the Dominion bug and is already getting tired of the base set. This expansion will definitely spice things up. Plus, we often have more than 4 players, and the base set plus Intrigue will allow everyone to play Dominion together.

2nd choice
Memoir '44: Terrain Pack - I'm a fan of WWII stuff (both of my grandfathers fought, and I was a tour guide on a battleship), and I love the simplicity of this game. Plus, I've finally convinced my wife to play. With the terrain pack, we could really expand the amount of scenarios available to play.

Once upon a time, in a small country in a tiny corner of the world, there was a talented young man who loved having fun. As a teenager he amassed a large collection of video games and life was good. However as he grew into adulthood, he longed for a more fullfulling social life. He discovered boardgames.

As his interest grew in boardgames, he searched for more info on the internet and found BGG! This would have been the most significant event in his young life but as fate would have it, another chance occurence would change his life on an even deeper level.

One day, while driving home from work on a long and isolated road, he saw a girl walking in the direction he was driving. Seeing as night was approaching, he stopped and offered the girl a ride. They kept in touch after that day and slowly realized they both shared a love of boardgames. This happy coincidence resulted in the happiest period for this young man as his collection of boardgames and their relationship blossomed together.

This is not a story about me (darn!) and it's not set in Singapore. This is a story set in Estonia about Raiko and Agnes.

I love historical fiction and I am currently enjoying Jeff Shaara's "Gods and Generals".

One of my favorite authors, Bernard Cornwall, also has a series of books "The Starbuck Chronicles" that take place during the American Civil War that I have read and enjoyed.

This pending game is based on the system developed in Napoleans Triumph (another game that I am keen on as the Napoleanic wars are also really fascinating), something that Bernard Cornwall also has written much about (his Sharpe Series).

Second game that I would be interested in is Ra as I have been looking for something different and light weight and this seems to fit the bill.

Why this one?
Because I wanted to make a difference and add something no one thought of!

Seriously, though, this game is the best 2-player game around.
And since 75% of my gaming sessions is me vs that-wife-guy I want this game so there can be some serious competition between us, in the hope of beating her and get on her nerves!

My second choice would be Vasco da Gama, I think it's under $30 as far as I looked.

Once again thanks!

Wow! Very cool thing to do as a Geek of the Week! Thanks for this list, I've had fun reading through it.

Main Game: Restaurant Row
Why? First off it just looks cool. It has a really cool and unique theme, I mean who doesn't love food? The game play seems to be a bigger version a card game I really like (Scream Machine) so this seems like something I'd really love to have.

Plus, it is a small publisher and I like to support indi designers.

Second choice: Camelot Legends

This line in the review made this a game that I'd love to try out:

"Within a few minutes I am immersed into the world of Merlin, Morgan and Arthur and half a minute later I realized what a monumental mistake I had made by ignoring this one. The game play is clean, engaging, strategic and down right fun." -

Thanks for the generosity.

My reason for both games are the same.

We've recently ended a long period where we had the family separated while we hoped to make a better life for ourselves in France. First I worked away from the family for 2 years and then my wife did the same.

We've now decided to cut our losses and have moved back to the UK so we're all together again. Along with seeing my old game groups again, our old regular family game nights are back in full swing. A new family game would be great for us all. With this thinking I have chosen:

1. Samarkland: Routes to Riches

&

2. Piece o' Cake

Good luck to everyone!!!

I will give three reasons for my desire for this game:
- First, because I am an engineer (see my microbadge ).
- Second, because I need an excuse to buy a bigger table.
- Third, because I think this game looks awesome (I know, lame).

As for the consoloation prize if chosen, assuming you get the games from an online retailer, My under $30 game that I would like to get is Last Night on Earth: Growing Hunger. Once again, for 3 reasons:
- First, I just read World War Z, and I can't quick thinking about Zack.
- Second, To help me better prepare for TIZA (The Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse).
- Third, because this expansion looks awesome (lame again).

Why?: My wife and I played it at Gen Con and passed up buying it then, but she has told me multiple times that she regrets doing that. My wife really wants this game and her birthday is coming up (September 26th). However, she has this weird rule that no matter how much she wants it I can not give her a game for her birthday. So, if it comes from you I can give her what she really wants AND honor her wishes.

Second Choice: Zulu on the Ramparts
The movie Zulu is one that I am quite fond of, and to play the battle that movie is based on would be fun. The fact that this is solo game is a plus, because my wife would have no interest in playing it.

Agricola is my first pick. I've slacked on buying this game for so long. I think my wife would love it, if she can get past the long playing time. Currently I am in a game purchasing dry spell, but as the main "gamer" in my circle I like to provide a wide variety of games for all my friends, and I think this would get alot of play. My wife and I host a monthly game day, that usually gets 30+ people showing up, so I am always looking to increase my library. And if you need additional reasons to put me in the bonus drawing realm, then if I get picked for any of the prizes, I will in turn pick someone off the list here and attempt to fulfill one of their requests, since you are a fan of sharing the love!

My second pick is Power Grid. For all the same reasons. I think I would love this game, and my wife would dig it too!

Wow - you are one generous person!

My first choice - El Grande. Why? I simply love Kraemer games. I have the mask trilogy as well as Maharaja. El Grande is a game that has stood the test of time and is simply brilliant. While I have played this classic before, I do not yet own a copy. A great game by a great designer.

My second choice - Dixit. Why? The Spiel des Jahres winner - what more can I say? I don't have a lot of party games - and this one looks like a real gem.

Thanks again!

This is exciting! Thanks!

1st choice:
Tobago - Looks great, plays great, and I direly wish one of my own so that I can play it when the opportunity arises for me (not just when others who own it are around - and happen to remember to bring it). Did I mention that I loved the theme/look? I like it more than Tikal. I may be forced to buy one soon if not for some wild star-crossed chance ...

2nd choice:
Secrets of Arkham (Call of Cthulhu LCG expansion): Why? Because once you pop, you can't stop! I need it, like crack, but only because I don't have it yet. But I can stop at any time! It's not a collectible game, oh no, it's a living card game. So it's different; much safer, less addicting, less nicotine, all natural, no preservatives, low tar, less cocaine than in the original formula, only mild side-effects, any addictive properties are highly exaggerated and legally unproven, women shouldn't handle it while pregnant ('Ia! Shub-Niggurath!), sexual side-effects may vary, it wasn't tested on animals, excessive use may promote anal leakage, in rare cases death may occur, if you experience effects lasting more than four hours: please consult your doctor immediately - not a problem! So much safer than ... heroin. Must have ...

I have to say that you are a generous person who is Geek of the Week for a very good reason! Thanks for running this game giveaway, and here's some GG.

Why. This game is by one of my favorite designers, Chad Jensen. He designed Combat Commander: Europe, one of my favorite games. The largest criticism of Combat Commander was the lack of any tanks or armor being used (an intentional design element, Chad would tell you). Well, Fighting Formations is going to be his tactical series WITH tanks! I can't wait!

Second Game. If I come in second, I'd like Forbidden Island so that I can have a game that my younger nephews and nieces might like to play when they come over. It would be great to foster a cooperative spirit where everyone's playing to win together - a great moral to teach at such a young age.

Cheers!

And thanks again!

My first game is At the Gates of Loyang, because I love Agricola, and I usually play two player games with my wife and this is supposed to be good for two players, and the fact it plays more than that as well is a huge incentive. Plus Indigo Potter has been talking it up a lot, so I want to give it a try!

My second game is Dixit. My wife is excited for this game, and should play well with inlaws.

Thanks, and I miss the pictures of Agnes, no matter what the grumpy fun killers say!

First, thank you so much for doing this. The completely uninhibited generosity of Geeks never ceases to amaze me.

For my first choice, I humbly ask for Defenders of the Realm. In pretty much any game group where I become established, I quickly become known as "the co-op guy," due to my deep and abiding love for this format of game. I constantly bring games like Ghost Stories or Pandemic, and partially cooperative games like Battlestar Galactica, as well. This obsession means I sometimes buy coops that end up being flops (*cough Red November cough*) simply because 1) I am curious enough to try them and 2) I know I'm the only one in my group likely to buy them, and so I'm the only way that I and others will try them.

I recently had a game night at my place, and

, who I met at a convention when I popped in to help him decipher the rules to Ghost Stories, brought Defenders of the Realm. I'd had my eye on this game already, since it was getting a lot of word-of-mouth hype on the Geek, and it had a weird "Talisman meets Pandemic" thing going. I was worried it'd end up being derivative or cheesy, but... it was a co-op! So Nathan happily got this to the table (he'd just gotten it the day before the game party), and we played a three-player game where we got slaughtered. Then we immediately started a four-player game... where we killed one general and then died ignominiously. Halfway through the first game, as things got really tense and interesting, I groaned and cursed to myself. When Nathan asked what was wrong, I shook my head and said, "Now I have another game I need to buy!" After that night, DotR has skyrocketed to the top of my wishlist, and I have daily arguments with myself about whether we can spare the $60 on yet another co-op. Plus Nathan lives over an hour away, and I'll only get to see him like once a month, but I need to get this game to the table again (and again and again) until I can finally figure out how to survive more than 25% of the game! Help me out by getting me a copy?

My second choice has no exciting story behind it. My partner has played Finca several times and enjoys it, and I've yet to play it. I always keep my ears open to listen to her when she has a game she likes, because not only do I want to make sure we have plenty of games that she wants, but it also gets me to buy games outside of my usual zone that I often end up appreciating (like Acquire). So a copy of Finca would make us both very happy.

Thank you so much!

Why? - It looks amazing. Amazing components, and art. I love auctions in games and auctioning to further advance my army sounds like a blast. Definitely my number one want at the moment.

The second game - Dixit Quest. Wife loves this game, and would love to have more of it : )
