3rd. Price: Bonus winner

Well, this one was the hardest one for me. I had 13 entries chosen and I had this secret thing in my mind I used to search for the third winner.
I looked for three things:
1) Congrats to me and Agnes
2) Correct entry
3) Great reasoning or story

I had some trouble of deciding here, because there were so many good ones, so I was able to choose 3 best ones and from them I randomly draw the winner. I'm sorry, I'm weak, I wish I could give you all something great.

So, the winner:

As for the price, I thought here many things, but this one is like the third price, so I will make it 15$ game winner choosing, so choose well.

I hope there is no hard feelings from all the rest participants.
I can tell you that this is not my last give away, so be on the alert.

I hope all the winner now can help me to get their games as cheap as possible, somewhere near them would be best.

THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING PART IN THIS!

Hello, hello to all.

I wasn't planning to give away any games again any time soon, because I just had one give away after I got the Love Spreader award, but now I got another award - Geek Of The Week.
And to celebrate this I decided to give away 3 games to random user here on BGG.

Las time I had 5 items I chose random, but this I thought we could do something little more different. These games I offered last time might not be what you want, so this time we do the following:

First you could thumb this list to keep this on the first page as long as possible.
Then you add here geek list item with the name of the game you wish to have. Only rule is that the game should cost less than 60$ (because I will pay the shipping too). Then write short about why you want this game. This might be just few words, but I would love to read them all. And to the end add a second game you would like, if for some reason your first choice wasn't picked as winner. I will make the first item as example for you all anyways.
The second game you add should be valued less than 30$ (again, I will pay for shipping)

Drawing: I will draw this item on the 5th of September, because this is Agnes's birthday (user LilyGirl). Drawing will be easy - use random number generator to pick two users.
1st. winner will get the game he/she listed as item.
2nd. winner will get the game he/she wrote as second choice.

Bonuses: This wouldn't be as fun without bonuses. Same bonus as last time - for every 0.5 tip to this geek list you will be added to the draw one additional time.

Bonus 2:
Who will write me best reason/story/words why he/she wants the main listed game and for some reason don't win, will get something special from me. Maybe something off her/his wish list as third winner.

Things to remember:

1. Recommend this list.
2. Add item with game in 60$ dollars, write short reason and then add second game under 30$
3. You can get additional bonus for 0.5 for tipping the list.
4. Check back with the list around 5th of September, Agnes's birthday.

Good luck.

PS! Edit: Everyone check your entries. Check that games are cheaper than the numbers I wrote before. If it is more expensive, I hope you have solution written there (like you are willing to pay for shipping), because I will not accept the offer to pay the difference to me, because the shipping is more expensive for larger and more expensive games. You can offer to pay for shipping.
Also check that you have selected only one game for 60 and 30 dollars, so total of 2 games. I will not accept a list of games to choose from. Choose now or later I will draw your name and you have there a large number of games, I will draw another winner.
Also everyone who has entered their wishes as comments, make them as geeklist items as well.
Drawing will be later today, Sunday the 5th...

Why?Because I am a huge TtR fan, and it's one of the few games in my collection that goes over well with my wife, 10 year old and parents as well! I've played the Marklin Edition once and found it possibly better than TtR, I'll have to play again to be sure...

Second Choice:Egizia. I don't know much about it other than worker placement, and it looks cool. Love the Egyptian theme.

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

Why? Honestly, because my wife would love this game. We've been playing a lot of Agricola lately, and I think we should get a change of pace. The game is a bit out of our normal price range, so we it's not really a "smart buy" for us now (not that we have very much game money anyway).

I leave you with a summary (/terrible) haiku.

love Agricola
so At the Gates of Loyang
is next on our list

Second Choice? Santiago. None of us have ever played this, but I have a sneaky feeling that my game group would absolutely love this one.

Very, very generous of you Raiko, way to go!

Why? - Like you Raiko, this game has been on my radar for some time. It attracted my attention when I read the reports from Kulkmann's Gamebox when he first played this at Spiel 2009 in Essen. I was sold when I watched the video review by Tom Vasel. This is a game I must have in my (still small) collection. None of the people in my gaming group owns it so I haven't been able to give this game a try but I know it's for me. I was about to order it for my birthday, but it turned out it was out of stock. Instead I bought Last Night on Earth. Another awesome game, but it still itches... Cyclades come to me!

The second game - Would've been Hive, but since there's a new edition bound to be released I'll wait for that one. Lost Cities seems like a nice, short, 2 player game that's fairly easy so non-gamers could play it also.

Well, the game I would like for my first choice would have to be Cyclades (it seems like a lot of people are gunning for this one). Why? I want to say "Release the Kraken!" at least once during every gaming day for the next year. Help make this dream come true!

For my second choice, I choose Finca, because I'm addicting to catching fruit on a spinning windmill. It's hard to explain.

Why? The dynamic duo of Christian Leonhard & Jason Matthews spawned some of the finest political games of the past decade with 1960: The Making of the President and Campaign Manager 2008 not to mention the now-classic Matthews/Ananda Gupta collaboration Twilight Struggle. Using similar game dynamics, Founding Fathers seems destined to join the ranks of their previous accomplishments. I played once this past weekend and now I am hooked.

(I am willing to pay for the shipping of FF since it's a little more than $60)

Second choice: 2 de Mayo

Why? A well reviewed, Napoleonic wargame for two players that only takes 20 minutes. Need I say more?

Raiko,

Congrats on winning the Geek of the Week and thank you for celebrating with us.

Unfortunately, nobody else I know is really into gaming. For this reason, I don't get to try any new games unless I buy them. This game currently intrigues me more than any other because I want to try it out, see if it really is heavy as people say. I'm into heavy, thinky games with simple, elegant mechanisms that still manage to have SOME theme.

Second choice: Glory to Rome. The reprint is hitting retailers now and the buzz around here has been deafening. I rather like Race for the Galaxy so I would be delighted to try this heavy card game.

Hello Raiko,

Congratulations with being Geek of the Week. It's very kind of you to share your happiness in such a way.

My first choice would be: Shipyard and my second would be: Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age.

Both mentioned games are games that my boyfriend owns and that I totally love to play. We both were into games before we met, but his collection is much bigger than mine. During our relationship my own knowledge and love for the gaming hobby increased, as does his enthusiasm because it is only encouraged by my own. laugh
As we’d both exchange our games, you might wonder why I would want these games for myself.

Well, he broke up with me last month (after 25 months).cry Now, not only do I miss him al lot, I also miss the times we played and talked about games, his gaming group in which I integrated, and all the wonderful games I got introduced to. soblue

I don’t want to lose my hobby as well, so I deiced to want to expand my own collection. And this geeklist made for a wonderful and inspiring opportunity to do so. modest

Shipyard stood out for me, because I love the ‘rondel’ mechanism and the theme is nicely incorporated into the game as well. I was already familiar with the rondel in Hamburgum, and this game has LOTS of rondels. Also, I actually won the first time I played this, that almost never happens, my boyfriend ex usually wins.

Roll through the ages is just fun with any number of players. So, I could actually play this on my own. Also, when I ended up being hospitalized earlier this year, this was the first game my boyfriend ex brought along to play, which was a great distraction for which I’ll always be grateful.

Thank you

Actually I am proud to live in a country that borders with your homeland.

At first I wanted to add Dust(I even had a story written, but then somehow came to my senses, that its not that good of a game - and i really dont need it so much).
I choose Cyclades, because it is a game you have chosen, by dooing so - you turned my attention to this for the first time - and it really seems great.

For my second game I choose Glory to Rome. There has been a lot of buzz about this game I hope it plays as good as it looks.

Why: I'm convinced my gaming group is going to love this. And it's likely to be an easy-ish game to start new people off with. Because of the nature of the group, I seem to attract a fair few 'new to gaming' people, so I need a decent selection of games that I can teach to people. This seems to fit the bill perfectly.

Second choice: Dixit
It's pretty, it's fun, it'll go down well with the group, and possibly with family and friends.

Hey Binraix,

You're pretty awesome, you know that? Anyways, my reasoning for wanting this game:

Once upon a time I lived in the middle of Canada. That big, fleshy part of Canada where the water is approximately a million miles away. It was very dry, and that made me sad. Now I live in a city on a major river, but it's still not very wet. I hope that I will one day live in a place on the ocean where I can hear the water from my house. This is unlikely, because waterfront property is EXPENSIVE. Dominion: Seaside is the next closest thing. With it in my possession, I will FEEL like I live near the water, because Seaside is right in the name. You see?

PS. My second choice is Race for the Galaxy: The Gathering Storm

What a cool idea for a giveaway... you get to learn more about bgg people this way than any other. I hope this thread grows huge.

Dixit is the one for my family. The bonus is that it will work with friends as well! That's a big win in my book.

My wife loves games where people interact more, so party-oriented games that draw people out are a huge hit with her. Apples to Apples, Moods, Spinergy, you name it. She's also an artist, and I know the artwork will appeal to her.

Although my older son prefers wargames (he's the thinker), anything that draws a crowd will pull him in. Of course, he's now beginning to date, and lighter games are always a better introduction than a 3-hour session of Tide of Iron!

My younger son prefers a mix of the two (he's the social one). He likes it when the battles involve faster resolution and quick movement, like Neuroshima Hex. However, he's also very funny, so if the competition involves less quiet thought and more raucous discussion, he's all in. I like it that he can really make me laugh.

I love to play everything, anywhere, anytime. My tastes run the gamut from abstract to heavy theme. I lean toward big-themed things like Tide of Iron and Space Hulk, and I admit I love great eye candy, but time constraints (and a small home) mean these games see less table time, and can't sit out for extended battles. I tend to "collect and pimp" those because I enjoy that as a hobby, and "play" the others because they're more friendly to my lifestyle.

And... for a second choice, I'm going to stay the course and nominate Dixit 2. I know, how dull! I really think Dixit sounds like fun, and rather than ask for something that's just "for me" I think it'd be more fun sharing a group game with people. Besides, it's a great story to tell, that someone gave us this as a gift. It's something we can pass on in the same spirit.

Thank you for the chance to share this.

Why? - Ever since I was a wee lad, I've been fascinated by aviation. In my pre-teen and teen years I devoured all the biographies and autobiographies of First and Second World War pilots I could find. When I got older, I had the privilege of experiencing flight in all sorts of different aircraft, including getting sick in a little 2-seater Cessna on a particularly bumpy day, and being at the controls of a glider. Heck, I've even jumped out of planes a couple of times! The only reason this game isn't in my collection right now is because my wife and I don't have the money for game purchases at the moment. And you don't have to worry about paying for shipping, because I can pick the game up locally.

The second game - Mr. Jack Pocket (when it is released!) - I am absolutely obsessed with all things Mr. Jack-related, and I have the tattoo to prove it!

If I win, I'll post a photo of my wife enjoying the game with me, just so I can see what it's like to have everyone complain about another "girl" picture! devil

Thanks so much for your generosity, Raiko! And happy birthday to Agnes!! kiss

I see that Cyclades isn't the most original choice, but I have always been a mythology buff. I took a mythology class as part of my university course as well as a class on ancient literature which included reading the works of Homer and Virgil. As an aspiring writer, a number of my stories and plays have been either named directly after, or inspired by greek and roman mythology.

Also, I got into this boardgaming hobbby because I recently had my first child. I remember being a kid and my parents had a stack of the "classic" board games which I spent a lot of time playing with them as well as my friends. I hope to one day play some more modern games with my own kids once they get old enough to understand them. And I'm sure he will share my interest in the creatures of myth. Until then, he can play around with the pieces like toys.

I guess my second pick would have to be The Stars are Right. It seems like a fun, puzzle type game that would be a good family game and easy for kids to learn and have fun with.

While I already have Formula Dé, there's a few nice changes between the old version and the new. Primarily the difference between pen and paper tracking and component tracking, meaning I don't have to worry about printing out more pages for tracking information during races.

My #2 game is Bisikle. Despite my love of manual dexterity games, I don't do well at them. Despite how poorly I do at them, I love playing them, so it all works out in the end.

I just want to join in with the cheers of how awesome this is! Thanks for being a love-spreading geek of the week!

First Choice: Robo Rally
Why: Because everyone around me, and me, loves this game. It's great fun, and it makes my wife giggle. Giggling wives are always a good thing. We have Great Space Race, but Robo Rally robots are way cooler than Space Race ships. So in short, winning this game will bring happiness to scores of people!

Second Choice: Thurn and Taxis: All Roads Lead to Rome
Why: Because I love Thurn and taxis but I don't get to play it enough. This means I can never bring myself to buy an expansion for it. A gifted expansion however avoids all that fussy guilt.

Thanks again, and best of luck to everyone! Keep the games flowing.

Wow, this is very generous. Thank you!

I picked Claustrophobia as I got a chance to play it at Gen Con and really enjoyed it, but couldn't find the money to purchase it there

The expansion for Pillars of the Earth would be my second choice as it is a game I really enjoy and just haven't picked up the expansion yet.

Thanks you again!
