3rd. Price: Bonus winner

Well, this one was the hardest one for me. I had 13 entries chosen and I had this secret thing in my mind I used to search for the third winner.
I looked for three things:
1) Congrats to me and Agnes
2) Correct entry
3) Great reasoning or story

I had some trouble of deciding here, because there were so many good ones, so I was able to choose 3 best ones and from them I randomly draw the winner. I'm sorry, I'm weak, I wish I could give you all something great.

So, the winner:

As for the price, I thought here many things, but this one is like the third price, so I will make it 15$ game winner choosing, so choose well.

I hope there is no hard feelings from all the rest participants.
I can tell you that this is not my last give away, so be on the alert.

I hope all the winner now can help me to get their games as cheap as possible, somewhere near them would be best.

THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING PART IN THIS!

Hello, hello to all.

I wasn't planning to give away any games again any time soon, because I just had one give away after I got the Love Spreader award, but now I got another award - Geek Of The Week.
And to celebrate this I decided to give away 3 games to random user here on BGG.

Las time I had 5 items I chose random, but this I thought we could do something little more different. These games I offered last time might not be what you want, so this time we do the following:

First you could thumb this list to keep this on the first page as long as possible.
Then you add here geek list item with the name of the game you wish to have. Only rule is that the game should cost less than 60$ (because I will pay the shipping too). Then write short about why you want this game. This might be just few words, but I would love to read them all. And to the end add a second game you would like, if for some reason your first choice wasn't picked as winner. I will make the first item as example for you all anyways.
The second game you add should be valued less than 30$ (again, I will pay for shipping)

Drawing: I will draw this item on the 5th of September, because this is Agnes's birthday (user LilyGirl). Drawing will be easy - use random number generator to pick two users.
1st. winner will get the game he/she listed as item.
2nd. winner will get the game he/she wrote as second choice.

Bonuses: This wouldn't be as fun without bonuses. Same bonus as last time - for every 0.5 tip to this geek list you will be added to the draw one additional time.

Bonus 2:
Who will write me best reason/story/words why he/she wants the main listed game and for some reason don't win, will get something special from me. Maybe something off her/his wish list as third winner.

Things to remember:

1. Recommend this list.
2. Add item with game in 60$ dollars, write short reason and then add second game under 30$
3. You can get additional bonus for 0.5 for tipping the list.
4. Check back with the list around 5th of September, Agnes's birthday.

Good luck.

PS! Edit: Everyone check your entries. Check that games are cheaper than the numbers I wrote before. If it is more expensive, I hope you have solution written there (like you are willing to pay for shipping), because I will not accept the offer to pay the difference to me, because the shipping is more expensive for larger and more expensive games. You can offer to pay for shipping.
Also check that you have selected only one game for 60 and 30 dollars, so total of 2 games. I will not accept a list of games to choose from. Choose now or later I will draw your name and you have there a large number of games, I will draw another winner.
Also everyone who has entered their wishes as comments, make them as geeklist items as well.
Drawing will be later today, Sunday the 5th...

First of all, thanks for the generosity. You're going to make all the other Geeks of the Week look bad.

My first choice would be Silverton.
The reasons are:
1. I finally got to try it out at GenCon 2010 and loved it. It may be fiddly and have some crazy randomness, but wow was it fun.
2. It supposedly plays well solo which is always attractive to me since my wife is not much of a gamer and I don't get the chance to game regularly.
3. I want to keep following this thread and try and make my own 3D version of the game. It looks amazing!
4. If I won it I wouldn't be tempted to spend my credit card points on it instead of continuing to save up for airline tickets to go visit my wife's family.

For my second choice I'm going to say Dominion. I have friends with the game, but I really enjoy it and would love to have my own copy to teach it to my family.

#1 Defenders of the Realm
WHY Because I'm slowly turning my friends into gamers. Currently, they think RISK is the pinnacle of gaming although I have gotten them to occasionally play Pandemic for the novelty of co-op and BattleBall for the beautiful bits. DotR has elements of all of these games and should be another step in converting them to the geek side.

#2 Castle Panic
WHY Because Tom Vassal did a great video review of it and I think my kids and I would have a blast playing it together. Nothing like defending the castle to bond a family together!

Congratulations on being Geek of the Week!. This is a very cool thing you are doing.

1st choice - Catacombs. Because my 8-year-old thinks it looks like the most fun ever, and I kind of think so too. Besides, it's getting great reviews and Tom Vasel even liked it. Crokinole meets Hero Quest... what's not to like?

2nd choice - Star Munchkin. Because the kid is a big Munchkin fan, and since not playing isn't an option I need new cards to keep my brain from melting.

Choice 1: The Alhambra: Bix Box edition.

Reason #1: Once upon a time I tried to get my family (my usual gaming group) to play Axis & Allies with me. I figured it was a nice team based game with some good historical overtones that should go over reasonably well with them.

Sample Comment 1: "Wait, you mean we haven't even started the game yet? We're still setting up?"
Sample Comment 2: "Yes, I rolled a 6! You're dead!.... Huh? Sixes are bad? In what kind of game are sixes bad?"
Sample Comment 3: "This is too violent; I don't like it. Yes, I know what 'World War II' was, thankyouverymuch."
Sample Comment 4: (said with no sarcasm) "You are a Nazi."

Lesson learned?
My family doesn't like overly aggressive games, wargames, or games with inordinately long setup times.

Reason #2: Once upon a later time I brought Arkham Horror out, thinking that a fully cooperative game would be a huge hit with my conflict-shy family members.

Sample Comment 1: "You are bringing about 8000 cards too many out of that box there."
Sample Comment 2: "The bad guy's name is Cooloo? That's dumb."
Sample Comment 3: "So the flying monster ate me because I was just standing in the street?"
Sample Comment 4: "Yes, I rolled a 5! The monster is.... wait, I'm what? Cursed? You mean I have to roll sixes now?"

Lesson learned? My family doesn't like heavily themed fantasy games, dicefests, or any game that has the word 'Cthulu' in it.

So the Alhambra: Big Box would be great for me because 1) it isn't a wargame, 2) there are no dice to roll, and 3) nothing named 'Cthulu' or 'Yigg' or anything else is attempting to devour my mother. We play Puerto Rico, Agricola, etc. all the time, and I think this game would fit right in. And given that it comes with all of the expansions, it would be sure to hit the table plenty.

Choice 2: Race for the Galaxy Because, can you believe it, I've never even played this game? Mayhaps I should give it a whirl.

P.S. You are awesome. That is all.

I would love to get Le Havre because it's been on my wishlist for ages and we visited two harbor towns this week (Hamburg and Esbjerg) and I just noticed that my collection is lacking any "harbor" game.

My second choice would be Draco, a game you made me aware off with your last give away and which I'm eager to try.

If the gods of randomness should pick me as a winner, I'll upload a picture of my girlfriend Sarah where she's holding the game box as a homage to your lovely girlfriend Agnes.

You are definitely worthy of being the Spreader of Love and the Geek of the Week! I have entered a few of your contests, and though have never won, I am amazed at your continued generosity! So here I am, to try again!

My first pick would be Caylus, and more specifically the 2nd Edition version since it includes the expansion with it. I went to my first gaming convention a couple of weeks ago, and got to play Pillars of the Earth against 5 other players. This was my first time playing a worker placement game like this, and I ended up winning by 1 point at the end! I thought the game was great. But from what the other players have said, and especially players here on BGG, is that Caylus blows PotE away. So that is why I chose this as my number one pick.

My second pick would be Castle Panic. I am a big fan of co-op games, and also fantasy games. As you can see from my recent plays and game purchases, I enjoy Arkham Horror, Defenders of the Realm, Dwarven Dig, and have already pre-ordered Castle Ravenloft, DungeonQuest, Wrath of Ashardalon, and the updated Betrayal at House on the Hill. Castle Panic seems like a different take on the more adventure-like co-ops I am used to and can see it getting quite tense. I think it would be a great addition to my collection.

Why this game? Well, my wife and I have some great games that allow us to game it up just the two of us--Agricola, Dominion, San Juan, and Loyang are some of our favorites, but I'm looking for something to draw in some family members who aren't into gaming. I think my Mom will like to play this, and maybe we'll even get my sister into it too, and in a few years, my daughter will be able to join the fun as well.

Second choice: Go. Why this game? Well, for very different reasons from the first. This is a kind of game that I really like, but my wife can't stand. (She says she doesn't like the non-stop attention a two-player abstract like this requires.) For that reason, I can't possibly justify buying a Go set, but if I got one some other way, well then she'd have to play it with me! laugh

Thanks for this fun and generous giveaway!

Why did I choose Thebes? Typically when choosing games that I want to add to my personal collection, I weigh how much I think the game will get played outside of my weekly game group. If the only chance I'd ever have to play a particular game is with the hardcore gamers in my group, then I pass on owning it, even if it is a game I really love since someone in the group probably already owns it. (See: Age of Steam or Roads and Boats).

However for a game like Thebes, which isn't too complicated, has an interesting theme and is well produced, it wouldn't be too hard to get my wife, my brother, my 7 yr old daughter etc to try it out. I've had my eyes and this one for a while now and will eventually breakdown and buy it. Unless of course I somehow get lucky on Sept 5th that is! cool

My second choice: Lost Cities. Perfect game my wife and me to play. Bonus is that I've already had a chance to play this with her and she really likes it!

Thanks so much for the opportunity and congrats on your GoTW award!

My first choice would be Royal Palace. My wife loves to play games but she tends to want to play games that have a theme that she is really interested in. Royal Palace is that kind of game. With the French King, the Cardinal, Madame de Pompadour and French Court life as a backdrop to the game, I am sure that she will be more than willing to try it out. Add to this the positive comments I have heard (some saying that it is similar to Fresco, but has more interesting choices) and it is one that I am intrigued by.

Second choice is Glory to Rome. Now that it is back in print, I might finally be able to find a copy and see what all the positive talk is all about. The French Court is more interesting to my wife, but she doesn't mind a bit of the rough and tumble of Ancient Rome.

Thanks for this list and for your generosity.

Am I a man or am I a muppet? If I'm a muppet then I'm a very manly muppet!
mbmbmbmbmb
Why? There are two reasons:

1) I love dungeon crawl games & this one is creative, quick-moving & fun to play.

2) This is the perfect game to play with my 9 year old son who loves Heroscape, Tannhauser & Battlelore.

The second game: BattleLore: Horrific Horde... because my son would really like more goblins for his goblin horde.

Thanks for running this giveaway!

First choice: How can you be a geek without owning Arkham Horror? Seriously, I'm the only one on this site that doesn't have a copy. To make matters worse, I have few friends that can get together for a solid game (schedules, schedules, schedules) and AH has the option of solitaire play. If I win, I plan on getting the wife involved in this one. The horror theme is perfect, and by all counts, this seems to be the board game of choice for many.

Second Pick: Humans!!!

I'm a zombie fiend, and this looks like Twilight Creations redemption of the Zombies!!! series. I'd love if nothing else to have the new zed sculpts.

What an awesome way to celebrate GotW and Agnes's birthday Raiko!

I am really excited about this game. I haven't played D&D since the old red box edition back in the 80's as a kid. As my game group is not really into RPG's and I don't have the time to DM anyway, this looks like it would be perfect for scratching the RPG itch that I get when I look at some of the cool RPG products coming out nowadays.

My second choice is Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game

I played this at GenCon but it was already sold out when I went to buy it. I was not really fired up for this one but a table came open as I wandered by so I gave it a shot. I was totally blown away and was shocked at how well it captures the feel of Space Hulk.

You're the best, Raiko!

First game: Claustrophobia - Why? I'm trying to add more 2P games to my collection, and this looks awesome.

Second game: It's Alive! - Looks like a great family game.

My choice would be this one for a couple of reasons. First it is a game not in the top 250 here on the geek that I have played once and liked a lot more than where it is ranked and my son Phil also liked the game a whole lot so it would either provide me with a great birthday (October 17) or Christmas gift for him. And I would still get to play it!

My second choice would be TAKTICA just because it is on my want list and it looks entertaining
