Christmas Season 2011 Edit:
It has been quite a while since I created this Geeklist. Many of the people who signed up may have become less frequent users or forgotten about it.
So...if you visit the geeklist and feel like sharing some cheer, please find your state and visit some (or all if you're really feeling generous) of the people who commented in or thumbed your state. Especially if you're in one of the coveted rare states (*cough* South Dakota * cough*).
Cheers and happy flag collecting.
Many users here on BGG have a flag counter. Others may not know what they are.
This geeklist is for people requesting flags from a specific state. We need 51 volunteers (DC included) willing to share their state to those looking for those elusive states (hello North and South Dakota?). All you need to do is add an item representing your state, and then visit the profiles of those that comment on your state. If you see a flag you need, comment on that entry and they should visit your profile. This is the one opportunity when flagging a poster is a good thing.
Go to the flag counting thread for more info. Flag Counter Users Unite. Come share your flag with everyone. And thanks to Bill for letting me borrow the below definitions.
WHAT IS A FLAG COUNTER?
A flag counter is a free script that you can add into your profile, so that when someone visits your profile. Their country's flag will be added to your flag counter to show that your profile had been visited from someone from that country.
It's fun and interesting to see how many people from different countries have visited your profile.
WHERE CAN I GET A FLAG COUNTER FOR MY PROFILE?
Just click on the flag counter below to be redirected to the flag counter site. Once there, click the button that says "get your own FREE flag counter!" to start setting up your own.
It should look like this:
[ url=htt p:// s07.flagcounter.com/more/x99 ][ IMG ]htt p:// s07.flagcounter.com/count/x99/bg=FFFFFF/txt=000000/border=CCCCCC/columns=6/maxflags=248/viewers=0/labels=1/pageviews=1/[ /IMG ][ /URL ]
You can add a state counter by changing your generated counter like this:
[ url=htt p:// states.flagcounter.com/more/x99 ][IMG]htt p:// states.flagcounter.com/count/x99/bg=FFFFFF/txt=000000/border=CCCCCC/columns=6/maxflags=248/viewers=0/labels=1/pageviews=1/[ /IMG ][ /URL ]
You can add Canadian provinces by changing it like this:
[ url=htt p:// canada.flagcounter.com/more/x99 ][IMG]htt p:// canada.flagcounter.com/count/x99/bg=FFFFFF/txt=000000/border=CCCCCC/columns=6/maxflags=248/viewers=0/labels=1/pageviews=1/[ /IMG ][ /URL ]
Tip. Note the differences here. One shows state flags and the other national ones--all from the same single configuration (x99 in this case).
Obviously, the url can't be broken up with spaces.
The state/province counters don't start calculating until you include the link, so if you want it, start with what you want at the beginnning. It's not retroactive.
