For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

I got a copy of TtA in the mail yesterday from one "Secret Santa," whoever that is.

I was instructed by my Santa to open it upon arrival, so no chastising for me!

UPDATE: I received another package from my SS on 1/15. A copy of Forbidden Island. I also received a Christmas card while I was away for the holidays. Thanks for everything Santa!

Well, Canada Post has apparently decided to deliver on Sundays this holiday season. This afternoon they delivered a large package at the door! My Santa has been taunting me constantly, threatening coal, but I must admit, I much prefer what he actually sent me! A generous Secret Santa indeed! Thank you very much!

Dear Santa,

Your package arrived expertly delivered as your reputations is renown for.

I was patiently but anxiously counting down the days till Christmas Morning to open my presents. That is until I got your permission to open them early! That is just a present on top of a present

I'm completely ecstatic over my main gift (I just assume the big box is main gift), I hardly expected to find even more treasures in my box.

I really didn't expect to find

as well as

You have really completely gone well above my expectations and have made my first BGG Secret Santa an absolute joy.

Thank you for making my holiday celebration a happy one.

I got an exciting letter with a 'Luftpost' sticker on the front of it this morning, inside was a small note saying "From your Secret Santa to you". Santa told me he didn't stand on tradition so I promptly opened the slip of neatly taped paper and inside was this Power Grid extra I've been looking to get hold of for ages now!

Power Grid: Flux Generator

I've also had a message from one of Santa's delivery Elves who I'll be meeting at a secret location in London on Wednesday evening to hand me another present from Santa! Watch this space for more information...

Update:

And lo, 'Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game' was picked up from my local board game fixer last night. I briefly considered waiting until Christmas to open it but curiosity got the better of me. Thank you so much Santa!

Santa delivers, and this time it was total bacon! bacon bacon

I got Battles of Westeros, and it is very much appreciated! Great shipping from Santa's elves at Cool Stuff Inc, and the elves slipped in some bacon bacon too! I got a CSI gift certificate! Very classy, elves!

One of the coolest things about getting BoW is that it completes my Borg collection. I recently posted an article at my blog discussing the various dice mechanics from the Commands & Colors series, and had to guess about Westeros because I had not played it.

http://chuckgame.blogspot.com/2010/10/blocks-of-war-iii-c-pa...

I made myself a promise that I would not play this treasure until Christmas, but I can hardly wait!!

Also from Santa:

Back to the Future: The Card Game

BattleLore: For Troll and Country

We will get many years of play out of all these gifts.

Got a package from boardgameguru today, actually it arrived while my wife was at work, meaning that I was all by myself, so I figured, heck if the games are not wrapped on the inside, then I could just have a peak :-)

"unfortunatly" the games were wrapped.. all three of them, so at the moment I am wrestling myself not to open them, and instead I will here come with my best guess on the content.

1) very small present, about the size of a deck of cards, thinking that it is Small World: Tales and Legends, since I got the game, although it is not on my wishlist. This actually turned out to be The Battle for Hill 218

2) larger box, a little smaller than the normal DoW box rather tall, have no idea on what that could be to be honest :-) Showed out to be the 51st State

3) Large flat box, looks like a standard GMT size box (have compared it to Paths of Glory and it seems like the same size. It is also quite heavy, and since my wish list contains alot of GMT games I can not come up with a good guess on this one (if it is even a GMT game) This is Twilight Struggle

All three presents are way beyond expectations, so thank you very much for giving me a wonderfull cristmas and birthday (turned 30 on the 24th also) Together with the other 4 games I recieved we are officially out of space untill we buy a new house :-)

My Secret Santa gave me this game and also worked some REAL Santa Magic as well!

See, it was last Friday when I got a geekmail from my Santa saying he had a tracking number for Rudolph from Canada Post, and that my package might already have arrives. It was about 1 PM when I checked my geekmail, and soon became worried if it arrived that day.

See, I'm usually the last one to leave my household, after my parents and brother, and nobody was going to be home until the afternoon. Since it's Friday, I didn't want to have to wait till Monday to get it from the post office after they failed to deliver it.

However... I checked the tracking, and it said it was delivered successfully. Normally thats a good thing, but nobody was supposed to be home! So I called my family and none of them had been home. I was worried maybe it was left at the front door or something, so my dad said he'd check when he got home.

I got a call from my dad at 4. The package had arrived and was mysteriously sitting in my living room on the couch. Must have been some sort of Santa magic, because the doors were locked. I was relieved that the package made it safely, my dad was paranoid someone got into our house (but nothing was stolen, so no problem there!)

Anyways, Thank you Secret Santa! I've already played a game of Cadwallon so far and it's great!

My gift arrived this past weekend. I went down to my mailbox yesterday only to find that the post office attempted to deliver it on Friday. So I went to pick it up yesterday afternoon.

Lo and behold, my top-wanted game was in the box!

Not only that, there was another game in there as well:

Endeavor

Both were nicely wrapped up, so it felt like Xmas came early!

Yeahhh, my gift arrived today. Secret Santa already gave a warning that it's on its way last week. Basically, I was looking forward to receiving the box during the whole last week; that's why I couldn't resist today and opened it right away...

(Have to find some kind of excuse at least, lacking kids and pets to blame it to...)

cool

It's 7 Wonders, including the

7 Wonders: Manneken Pis

which is just great. I wanted to test the game during Spiel 2010 in Essen this year, but just couldn't get that done, as all tables seemed to be constantly (over-)crowded. Now I have plenty of time to test and even got the Promo, which I didn't expect to be available outside conventions...

Thanks a lot Secret Santa! Job well done!!

Oh Em Ge!surprise

My secret santa is awesome! cool

He sent out three presents! Santa I tried to be good, thank-you for seeing me try so hard, you are wonderful!

Santa also likes to play games so we tried some riddle games and that's a lot of fun, I hope Santa gets extra love from his favorite elf for all the joy he's spreading he deserves all he gets.

I wasn't going to open any until xmas, I tried (they';ve been here almost a week). whistle

However, a couple of my friends had bad breakups, and my relationship is complicated, anyway, Santa said open them suckers up and have fun, so we will, we will play these at least four times each before the new year.

You ROCK Santa! meeple

Genji which a great game from my friend Dylan -an awesome Canadian designer, you gotta play it. A big thank-you for Santa!

Ra, I can never get enough of this game either, but can never seem to buy it in 10 years, so many games to buy, thank-you for finally putting this in my collection!

Starcraft, A fun game by FFG (anything from FFG is super!) and based on an super computer game, this'll be played so many times, thank-you Santa for having taste and generiousity!!

Many happy returns, seasons greetings, merry Christmans, and a very good holiday season for all of you, most especially my Secret Santa. kiss

I have the most amazing Secret Santa ever.

I've received several friendly emails from Santa, and in one such missive, he let me know that he had gotten me something from my wish list and it was ready to go out by sleigh on the big night. In the message to Santa in my profile, I'd written that I would be happy with used games as I figure they'll get used by me anyway. Well, in one of Santa's letters, he mentioned that he'd read my note and that the fact I was happy with used games was good because Mrs. Claus was hounding him to get rid of some games. Perfect timing! I was giddy because I figured he might include a game or two of his own as extra stocking stuffers.

Today a package arrived for me with a return name of Secret Santa. I brought the package inside…ok, I YANKED the package inside…like a giggling little boy. When I got the box opened I saw a few wrapped packages. Wait a minute, there are more than a few, there are….holy cow! When I was done pulling out the gifts there were 12! in all.

There was also a card inside the package that reads:

Dear Phil and Family,

I have included enough gifts for the twelve days of Christmas. Day 1 is a bit of a stinker (Santa couldn't find the twelfth game to send), but I hope you find some good ones in the rest.

Hope you can wait and open only one a day from Dec. 14th on, but if not, that's OK too. Save the 25th's package for last -- you should like it.

Merry Christmas from Santa's family to yours!

-- Santa

Wow! Just…Wow. I'm curious about each package, of course…and that 12th game is likely to be the one directly from my wish list…but I think I'm most curious about the first package, since he described it as "a stinker". The note on the package says "it's all uphill from this one", which I love. The suspense is killing me…

BUT. I've decided to wait and do this the right way, given that Santa went to all this trouble. (When I mentioned how touched I was by all the trouble he'd gone to in wrapping 12 presents, my wife responded without a beat, "He got his wife to wrap them." ) And I can't wait to get our tree now because we've already got 12 presents to put underneath.

Santa, I simply cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Not just for the number of presents, which is a delightful surprise, but for the spirit of the holiday which you've passed on with such a gesture. Your efforts are GREATLY appreciated by this 52 year old child. I only hope your holiday is as wonderful as mine is already shaping up to be.

Feeling quite like a kid again,
Phil

And yes, I will try to update this entry each day as I (or, in all likelihood, my kids) open each gift, starting on December 14th.

UPDATE: Amazingly, Santa sent ANOTHER package; sweets for the family! He'd told me it was coming, and that it was a tandem gift with the first, as he didn't think I'd be thrilled with the first game. He also suggested that we do a "24 days of Christmas": a gift every 2 days, which meant opening the first gift tonight: 12.3.10. The newest package was opened...and quickly devoured...last evening (Santa said it was ok). A delicious assortment of chocolates. My whole family thanks you for that one, Santa. Then I opened the first present tonight and found Sher-co Baseball, a game I knew nothing of but which seems quite interesting, especially since baseball is a passion of mine. I'm already intrigued and very happy with this first selection. Thanks, Santa!

12.5.10: My son, Spencer, tore open the wrapping on the Day 2 gift from our amazing Secret Santa tonight. Inside was Zitternix, another game I had not heard of before, which is a gift in itself. This is a really fun dexterity game that we've already played and quite enjoyed. Thanks again, SS!

12.7.10: For Day 3, Santa left a card/deduction game that is also new to me: Code 777. Looking through the description and comments, this seems to be a group Mastermind/Logic puzzle game, which is great for me since I love those types of puzzles. This will likely see some play during the holidays since we're hosting and my family likes these types of games. Once again, Secret Santa comes through. Thanks, Santa!

12.9.10: My turn to open the present on Day 4 and I'm very excited. Word Blur has been on my wishlist for some time now and I'm so pleased to add this to the rotation. Looks like it could be terrific fun with the right group of people. It also doubles as a fun toy since there are 900 word tiles to putz around with. Excellent choice, Santa. Thank you!

12.11.10: It's day 5 this morning and the newest addition to our game collection is Jericho, a game by Tom Lehmann, designer of my very favorite game: Race for the Galaxy. I've been curious about this one for a while and what's particulalary great about it is it appears to offer quick play for our whole family; something I'm always searching for. I'm hoping to try this out this afternoon when we return from getting our Xmas tree today.

An interesting trend I've noticed is that these gifts have been getting opened earlier and earlier each day, until now I'm gathering the kids while they've barely finished brushing their teeth. Ok, not so much a trend as a confession.

Santa, this is just so much fun.

12.13.10: My daughter, Julie, tore into the package this morning before leaving for school (not that I encouraged this, mind you whistle). We were all VERY pleased to find Scotland Yard inside. I've never played this but as a fan of puzzle/deduction games, this has intrigued me for a while, particularly since it seems family friendly. Once again, Santa comes through with an excellent gift...

What's amazing is that I already feel like I've been blessed with abundance, and we're only halfway through the gifts at this point!

12.15.10: Today's present was opened by me...once again, very early in the morning; man I'm getting spoiled with this...and I'm very pleased to see Babel, one of the Kosmos 2-player games. The only other Kosmos 2 player we have is Lost Cities (which we enjoy a lot), so this helps fill another gap in the collection. I like the looks of this one and the comments seem to suggest that it's a good game that reveals subtle strategies the more you play. And that suits me just fine. Thanks...now for the seventh time!...Santa.

12.17.10: The gift of the day...how much fun is it to be able to say that?...is Attribute, a Spiel des Jahres-recommended game from 2002. This is a family party game that will almost certainly see some use in the coming week, in particular since we recently found out we are having some unexpected but quite welcome extra family members visiting on Christmas day. These folks are big party game players and this looks like it will be an excellent new game to introduce during the evening's festivities. Another score from Santa.

12.19.10: Early this morning, my daughter came down the stairs to see me and the first thing out of her mouth was, "Daddy, it's my turn to open the present this morning, right?" After reminding her that "Good morning" might be a better greeting (for the record, she's a great kid, and immediately laughed and delivered a big hug), I said to go for it. Inside the gift that said "Day 9" was Saga, from the venerable Wolfgang Kramer. A Kosmos card game for 2-4, I've heard about this game but haven't had the opportunity to try it. My daughter was immediately intrigued and asked if we could play today. Life is good. Thanks, Santa!

12.21.10: Coming straight from my wish list, Château Roquefort made many people happy when it was opened. This is a game I've been very interested in obtaining, but by the time I'd decided to order it, it had become a bit difficult to track down, which makes this all the more amazing to receive. My son started digging into the castle pieces immediately and we have a date to play tomorrow night when both my and my wife's workload finally loosen up. An absolutely excellent choice, Santa!

12.23.10: The second to last gift to be opened from Santa this year is Ticket to Ride: The Card Game, which is an excellent choice for our family since we still play the original TTR in our home quite often. In fact, since the card game version was released we've been talking about picking this one up so we can have a version of TTR with us on short trips when it's not convenient to take along the full monty. Yet another great gift, Santa!

12.24.10: Well, we hosted Christmas this year, and with many folks coming over and much preparation, Santa allowed me to open my final gift on the eve. And what a gift! Cosmic Encounter has been one of the few "must have" games on my wishlist. I am absolutely thrilled and cannot wait to get this to the table. I have some free time this week, in fact, and am anxious to sit down to some alien goodness. An absolutely superb choice for the finale, oh, Santa.

Here are a couple of shots of the incredible bounty I was fortunate enough to receive this year...

All in all, this has been more fun than I could have hoped for and my Santa deserves my thanks a hundred times over, as well as some recognition. He let me figure out who he is and I'm most grateful because I got a geekbuddy out of the deal as well.

Mike, you helped make this a very special Christmas...one that my family will talk about during future holidays. Thanks for everything; the games, yes...and you picked superbly, I might add...but for the generosity of spirit, the fun, and the gift of allowing me to feel the sense of wonder from Christmases past.

And merry Christmas to anyone reading this...it's this community that opened the door for this most enjoyable experience.

Happy New Year to all!

My Secret Santa rocks!

I got an email from my wife today telling me a package had arrived from Starlit Citadel. "Have you ordered more games?" she asked. "No, no, no!" I squealed, "My Secret Santa game has arrived!" I leave work early and rush home to find a surprisingly heavy package that reveals not one, but FOUR wrapped items and a note from Saint Nick himself!

His note promised one game not on my wishlist that he'd hope I'd like but he exceeded himself by sending two off my list and hitting the mark perfectly on both!

They lasted, wrapped, less than five minutes before I couldn't stand it and ripped into them (hey, I figure one of the cats would have anyway, uh, that's it!).

Thank you Santa!!! First ... he was generous enough to send me my top most wanted game, Endeavor! I was thrilled! I can not wait to play with my regular group. One of my co-workers simply raves about this game. So nice of you SS.

But he also sent the Three Extra Enclosure, Petting Zoo, Building Sites and the Three Additional Buildings expansions for one of our favourite family games, Zooloretto! My nine year old is over the moon, btw, with these.

There was even more! I delved into the smaller package and found a game I'd played at friends and really enjoyed that hadn't been on my list, Middle Kingdom. Wow, anything by Z-Man usually rocks my world so I have no clue how my SS picked that one but it's a game I really like so good job!

Finally, I opened the smallest package and found a true gem!!! My Secret Santa did his research and knows I love tactical, fun, fast-playing WW 2 games as he also had sent along The Battle for Hill 218. I'd always wanted to pick this up and love playing it!

I hope my Secret Santa gets as an amazing SS as I have! Your generosity and right-on guesses off my wanted list hit the spot and I am truly humbled. Thank you so much!

P.S. Again, this year, I have no clue who to thank. But wow, isn't this whole community an amazing bunch of people!

So excited as I was leaving work, as my my hubby called me and said "Whatever you ordered from Toad and Troll came today." Since I haven't ordered from them recently, I knew it had to be my Secret Santa gift.

I tortured him for my entire drive home, asking him what games we already had that would fit in the box. Based on his description of a "Ra sized" box, I suspected it might be Le Havre... and I was right.

Thanks so much Santa! Le Havre is a game I really enjoy and I am so excited to finally own it so I can play it a lot more often! Off to punching now....

So I just got home and opened the package from my Secret Santa. From all of the taunting and such, I "knew" 2 games and suspected a third. I was quite surprised and pleased to find all of these games in the package:

Kingsburg

Arkham Horror: The Lurker at the Threshold Expansion

UWO

My Secret Santa rocks! These games should get a lot of playing time! Thanks so much!
