For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Many many thanks to my Secret Santa whoses gift arrived today. As Mrs. Grinch is not in the country at the moment I was able to open the box right away (unlike last year) . Not only was I sent Small World and the Grand Dames expansion

but also Carccassonne The Castle.

I am sure these games will get plenty of time on the table in the coming year.

Thank you very much.

My Secret Santa contacted me last week saying that good things come in threes and to look out for 3 items from around the globe.

Well today when I got home, one of those items was at my doorstep. After opening the box and discovering a very nice message left for me, I found Battle Line!

Battle Line is a great game that I've wanted in my collection for a while. Played it a few times with my gaming partner and came away wanting to play more.

Great start to the trio of gifts!

Updates to come as the other gifts arrive...

Update #1:
Last night I received a package all the way from Israel! Surprisingly it was in perfect condition.

Blue Moon City

Played multiple times and really enjoyed it. SS says 1 more gift still to come...

I arrived home from work to find a box from Boards & Bits that I hadn't been expecting... how exciting!

But little did my Secret Santa know that he or she was acting on the behest of Hannukah Hershel! So on this most appropriate of nights, the last night before the first night of Hannukah, I opened the box to find...

Perfect! Thank you so much! I have wanted Tahuantinsuyu since I first heard about it, and could hardly contain my excitement when I learned that it was being re-released as Inca Empire. So this game was at the very top of my Wishlist(1)! And the addition of Container: The Second Shipment—an expansion for (as my observant and considerate Secret Santa pointed out), my highest rated game—and something not even on my wishlist! I really appreciate the extra effort you went through to pick something out for me.

Again: thank you. You've really brightened up my day, and I can't wait to play my new game, and my new expansion!

Thanks Secret Santa!

It was a bit of a wait but only on my part. I got the Canada Post notice the day before I went on holidays for 8 days and missed the delivery. My flight left at 6am the next morning so I wasn't able to go pick up my SS present!

Today was the first chance I had to go pick up it and inside was not only Dungeon Twister but also,

(which wasn't even on my list!)

AND

Thanks Secret Santa for some awesome games! Can't wait to play them!

Woohoo!

My secret santa gift should be arriving at its destination soon, and happily mine has shown up already. I briefly considered waiting till Christmas to open it, and then convinced myself that if I open it now, I can easily teach guests how to play over the holidays

I received:

Power grid

and

Ghost stories

Have yet to play power grid, but have given ghost stories a couple 2 player tries and been soundly beaten.

Many thanks to my secret Santa, I hope the recipient of my gifts will enjoy theirs as much as I enjoy mine.

It's here! It's arrived! All the way to Indonesia!

Unluckily, I'm not here! crycrycry I just got back in country and my sweet wife told me the package has been there for a few days, but she hasn't opened it yet because she's not sure what to do. I've asked her to open it and see if anything is wrapped, but it hasn't happened. For some reason my wife isn't as excited as I am.

Not sure what it is, but my Santa was kind enough to tell me it was coming and to mark it as "family boardgames" instead of "wargames". So, thanks Santa! I'll wait for Christmas unless it's not wrapped. I'll update this soon!

Edit 1:

I got home today and opened up the box. On top was a beautifully wrapped present and I gleefully put it aside. Looking forward to opening it on Christmas day.

However, after I pulled out the game I decided to push around the peanuts a bit and there below was an unwrapped copy of Ingenious! I thought to myself...why isn't this one wrapped? Did Boards and Bits jack it up? But then I realized, that the Indonesian post office had "inspected" the box first, but when they realized that Ingenious couldn't be eaten, they passed it along. So, sorry Santa...no Christmas respect here. Still half is better than nothing.

Edit 2:

I got a two back-to-back games in last night with the wife. Lots of fun. Usually I don't like Dr. Knizia, but this time I had a great deal of fun. I won both games, which made me feel better, but makes it less likely I'll play as much in the future. However, lots of broad appeal. Looking forward to opening the second gift on Christmas day! Even here it's a national holiday.

Edit 3: Here

My Santa must have been doing some super stealth training.
Not a word from the white-bearded ninja, then today a parcel arrives at my door like a lightning fast shuriken.

As I have been so good this year I thought I should take a peek inside...there I found a copy of A Game of Thrones LCG.
Awesome Santa!

Thankyou so much for this perfect gift. I just started reading the books so was secretly hoping this was the game you would choose. Now I can glare at my friends over the Christmas games table and plot their sweetly drawn out demise (ahh, can you feel the spirit of the holidays).
As an 2010 Secret Santa initiate I just want to say that this has been a fantastic experience and I will definately be back next year.

Thank you again Ninja Santa for your generosity.

Our gift from Santa arrived yesterday. I opened it up and was surprised to discover a number of things!

First, I was surprised upon opening to see that Santa had sent me "Everyday B.S."

The next thing I noticed was a bunch of giant foam d6's. However, they weren't mine for long:

Below the dice, there were two wrapped packages. Santa (and my wife) have instructed me that I am not supposed to open them until Christmas.

One gift is clearly a game... though thorough shaking has not revealed which one:

I think the other one is food, as the dogs were VERY interested in it. My less than superior sense of smell, however, revealed nothing:

For a little bit, I thought about letting my son see them. He would insist on tearing them open immediately, but I don't think this would have been well received by the wife. They have been put away, to wait until Christmas morning.

Thank you Santa!

EDIT: December 25, 2010
Christmas morning has arrived! The tree was loaded with presents, and it was time to figure out what was in that secret Santa package!

The first one my son went for was the one that seemed like food:

It was still early enough in the process that he was enthusiastic. Low and behold, the dogs noses were accurate, as the package indeed contained food!

It was hot fudge topping for ice cream. I plan to make some ice cream to put it on... maybe even tonight!

The other package, I knew, must be a game... but what could it be? Toddler to the rescue!

AWESOME! Dominant Species!

I've really been wanting this. I had a suspicion that was the game in the wrapping, but I couldn't be sure. We'll be getting this sucker on to the table as soon as possible.

Fantastic gift, Santa! Thank you so much!

And to all the people reading this, Merry Christmas!

p.s. to my wife: Classy outfit, hon.

I received a voicemail this morning from UPS saying they'd be delivering a package to me today. I know I hadn't ordered anything (still procrastinating the Christmas shopping) and figured it must be a present from my BGG Secret Santa.

The UPS man always arrives later in my area. As expected, he knocked on my door at 6:30pm with a rectangular box to sign for. I ferociously rip it open (starting from the wrong end first, then pulling off BOTH tear tabs, then resorting to a box cutter) to see Battlestar Galactica inside!

I so wanted this game but wasn't going to buy it for myself. I had a feeling it might be the one my Secret Santa chose too!

You made my night, Secret Santa! My plan is to play it this weekend with some friends. Thanks and happy holidays!

It arrived on Friday after Thanksgiving. Friday after Thanksgiving is my traditional Black Friday Game day. I have a bunch of gaming friends over and we play games. All day. So this particular Friday the Fed Ex guy shows up and drops something off. My wife goes to the door and brings in a box from Amazon. Then she brings in a box from ThoughtHammer!

Myself and a couple of my game buddies just about jump out of our Dominion game in anticipation. We're all on BGG after all. She held her ground, looked in the box and asked a simple question. "Do you want a good X-mas or a bad one?"

She had a point.

I'm going to bet the majority of you are like me. You put games on your wishlist every year and send them out to family and friends. What do you get on X-mas day? No games. Because every gift giver somehow comes to the conclusion that you have plenty of games already - why do you need a new one? Socks on the other hand - you need socks. So you get socks; no games. Actually getting something from my wishlist is the reason I love BGG SS. I'm guaranteed to get a game - likely from someone who also begged his family to buy him one game, just one and instead got socks.

Then they complain when you run to the game store the day after X-mas and buy a game (and return the socks).

I opted for a good X-mas. They're under the tree. Yes I know there is more than one. My wife was kind enough to tell me that.

Thank you Santa!

Woohoo, my Secret Santa gift arrived yesterday evening. Very nicely wrapped and ready to go under the Christmas tree.

I hope Santa isn't too mad about the mix-up earlier and sent a game-box full of coal, that would be a shocker

When you read this Santa, I just wanted to let you know that it will stay wrapped until Christmas eve, and won't be opened on Saint Nicholas's birthday (which is 5th of Dec here) as we don't celebrate that (it's really more of a kid's thing).

My girlfriend was pretty annoyed at first when I told her it was a Christmas present. 'Couldn't you have put that away so I didn't see it', was the comment I got. Thankfully she was a lot more thoughtful when I explained that it came from my Secret Santa from BoardGameGeek. Now, all that's left is to put up the Christmas tree and wait for the magic day!

Thanks Secret Santa, No matter which game it will be from my wishlist I'm sure it will be played plenty!

Edit:
Suppose I better still update this
I received the awesome Memoir 44 from my Secret Santa. I have in the meantime managed to acquire a lot of the expansion and really like the game. Thanks very much santa! I think this will be one of the most played games for quite some time!

Thank you Secret Santa!

I got home from watching Tangle, which wasn't a bad movie by the way, and there was a box on my doorstep. I was thinking to myself I didn't order anything... than I remember my Secret Santa GeekMail me saying that my presents were on their way! YEAH! So I open the box to find not one, not two, but three games!

First up is Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer

My gaming group, as well as for myself, loves our deck building games. And this takes it to another level. Can't wait to get this sucker on the table.

Next up is another Knizia game Battle Line

Always been a Knizia fan so I really want to play this, Badly!

And there's The Bottle Imp

We love our trick taking games and this one seems to fit the bill nicely. I can see that I might have to sleeve these cards for sure,

All in all, an AWESOME Christmas! Again, thank you very much Secret Santa, I hope your Christmas is great as the one you gave me! And believe me, these games will get the love and play that they deserve. meeple

Edit: Got Ascension and Bottle Imp out to play today. Had fun with both! Ascension went over really well with the group, as well did Bottle Imp.

I'm all a-quiver with excitement -- the doorbell rang about an hour ago and I hurried to open up because I'm expecting some furniture to be delivered today. Instead I found a large neatly sealed padded bag (well done, Shire Games), carefully placed so that I couldn't see the address label (I share a common front door with another flat/apartment), and only when I picked it up and turned it over did I see that it is addressed to me and that it has a Secret Santa image.

I had resolved not to open anything until christmas (or nearly!) so I put it to one side and poured some tea. However, I could feel it looking at me, and I knew it wanted to be opened, at least a bit (I reckoned that it was probably wrapped inside as well -- that's my excuse, anyway!), and so I've started to put it out of its misery. Inside, there's a substantial tidily wrapped package (more will-power needed now!) and a special six-sided die for choosing the initial player in plenty of games, which is an excellent idea!

Thank you very much, Secret Santa -- I'll probably update this soon, because (as someone who has never kept new year's resolutions for very long) I'm too excited to wait, and I also want to be able to say "thank you" properly as soon as possible (is that another good excuse for premature opening?).

OK, so I caved in (it was still talking to me, and my Secret Santa gave me no instructions!). My Secret Santa has obviously been paying much closer attention to me than I realised and has noticed how much time I've spent this year playing with small wooden bits in lots of colours, because the package contained Hansa Teutonica

Thank you again, Secret Santa, I'm really looking forward to getting this on the table, and I hope your Secret Santa has been as kind as you have been.

You're feeling dizzy... Now all your boardgames belong to me!!!
mbmbmbmbmb

Just got a big parcel from Ludocortex this morning... As per Santa's request, I didn't dare open it, as he apparently can make everything disappear if I open before Christmas... It looks like there are at least two boxes in there...

Thanks a lot Santa!!!

MUST RESIST! MUST RESIST!

PS: and hopefully I'll have some time to do some music this week...

Edit: winter is here... Only 4 days left before opening the package!!! Will I be able to resist...???

EDIT: 25 December: BOX OPENED!!!

Woooooooooooooooooow

That is a Super Secret Santa!!! Opening the parcel I found:

Coloretto

Which was an instant hit for my wife and daughter and me!

Underneath was:

San Juan

We're eager to play it since we love RFTG!

And, last but certainly not least:

Inca Empire with Inca Empire: Bonus Sun Event Cards!!!

This one I was tempted many times to get at my FLGS but fortunately enough, when I was decided to, everything was sold. So...

Plus a personal note from a really super Secret Santa!

thumbsup

Many many thanks from France, great games I'll have some time to play today! (everything is frozen deep, so it's an excuse not to drive and go elsewhere )

A package has been delivered with Amazon plastered all over it, and I have not ordered anything from them recently. So I got a daughter to open it up and check, and she confirms that it is indeed from Secret Santa. So the box has now been put in the Christmas present pile, and I will report back in three-and-a-bit weeks, when I look to see what is in it.

Muchas gracias.

Edit: It turns out that the game was TTR Europe. Thanks, Santa, whoever you may be. This gives us an alternative map (and, frankly, a better game than the original TTR) to play. We managed a game on Christmas day, which I won, despite not picking up a single locomotive card until the turn before the end, when I picked up a face-up one so I could lay my final route.

Yesterday I recieved my gift and it's awesome! I've been waiting to play this for some time now and no one in my group owns it so I was pretty excited. I broke it out and started reading the rules, hopefully getting a play or two in this upcoming weekend.

Thanks Santa!

Update -27/12 Well the unwrapping has been completed and the playing has started

Sant very kindly brought me Smiley Face - Played with the family on Xmas day and a great hit many thanks.

I also got
Citadels

One of my favourite games for a large group and will be played lots

and

Chaos Marauders (second edition)

On my wish list for the nostalgia value - I remember playing the original GW version with my mates at school 25+ years ago and will play again next time I see some of them (if not sooner)

and finally
Modern Art

For a self confessed auction game fanatic this has been missing from the collection for way too long

Many thanks Santa - I hope your own secrets were as pleasing

My secret santa came through with help from the great elves at www.boardgameguru.co.uk - not one, not two nor even 3 but 4 wrapped presents and a hand written card.

Way to go Santa & Elves

31/2 weeks to opening though - she who must be obeyed has already removed the temptation to pre-open.

Many thanks Santa

I hadn't been that impatient to a package to arrive, but I was subjected to a little extra torture before it finally came. FedEx first tried to deliver on Saturday afternoon when I was still away visiting the folks for Thanksgiving. I got home that evening, and on the delivery attempt notice I saw that not only had I missed the package, but FedEx home delivery doesn't operate on Monday, so I was going to have to wait until Tuesday...three days of knowing that I could already have some games in hand

It did come on Tuesday though, and I was surprised and pleased with what I found inside. In addition to Bridgetown Races, which I couldn't resist as a game featuring my hometown, inside I also found

Campaign Manager 2008

and

Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game

I played Bridgetown Races last night and found it quote enjoyable...definitely something to share with the family over Christmas. Looking at the whole, I'm amused by the complete lack of theme to the package, which is great! Whether I feel like shooting up aliens, flexing some political muscle, or just racing around town...I'll always have something close at hand to play.

Thanks "Uncle" Nick!

Dear Secret Santa:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I have been eying this one for awhile and even talked to my wife about it and she said it sounded interesting. I was reluctant to buy it for myself because she usually says things like that and then never wants to play with me. Now I have no excuses and neither does she.

Oh but wait..thee was another game in the box...
Whats better than a game from one of my favorite designers? How bout a game from 2 of them!!!!

YEAH ME!!!!

My Santa was exceptionally well-prepared this year, as he did some serious research before sending out my gifts. Santa perused my wishlist but then also went through my blog with a fine tooth comb (I post recaps of what games I play).

Right before Thanksgiving the game Tsuro arrived which was perfect, and we did manage to get in a game of it with the family on turkey day. Then today I received another package with Ra in it, which was another top pick. Fantabulous!

Many thanks, Santa!!! We'll have lots of fun game days ahead.

EDIT: 12/3/10
Another box has arrived!! I recognized the handwriting on this one, so I did not open it, and will post whatever it is after Xmas. Unbelievable! My Santa rocks.

EDIT: 12/6/10
Box # FOUR has just shown up, and I keep getting messages from my Santa giving me hints as to what's inside the boxes. He mentioned box #3 has TWO gifts in it - geez, talk about a generous Santa! This latest one is heavy and I think it may be Power Grid: Factory Manager since the email mentioned something about being a manager and elves on the factory floor, but we won't know for sure until the 25th. This is crazy!

EDIT: 12/28/10
Getting snowed in over the holidays has some advantages; it gave us plenty of opportunity to play some of the games my Secret Santa sent! The other boxes mentioned above included:
Power Grid: Factory Manager,
Power Grid: Benelux/Central Europe,
For Sale,
and a two-player Othello/Chess strategy-type game we'd never heard of called YINSH - we cracked that open last night and had loads of fun with it!

Then today, I log on to BGG and find yet another message saying there's one more on the way! GEEZ! He mentioned "the orient" so I'm thinking it's the most recent PG board, Power Grid: Russia & Japan. If there's no new update within a week then that's what it is. What a generous Santa!! Many, many, many, MANY thanks again!!

FINAL (?) EDIT: 1-3-11
And a Happy New Year to all! Got the final box today and, as expected, found the new Power Grid: Russia & Japan board. Got ANOTHER gift, tho: Relationship Tightrope, bringing the grand total to EIGHT games! We had to go out and buy a new bin to put everything in! This new one is another Knizia game so it should be fun - and very appropriate for a newly-wedded couple, LOL! Thanks x10, Santa!!!
