For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

My santa was pretty early this year and gave me permission to open my presents already. It contained two games. Sobek, a great small cardgame and Witch's Brew.

Two great games that were high on my wishlist.

Thanks a lot, secret santa and a merry x-mas to all!

Excellent job Santa.

After a slight hiccup involving present mix-ups (my fault, nobody else's), those hard working elves over at Shire Games gave me my present indirectly last Monday.

Many Thanks Santa. Happy Christmas

Secret Santa's gift arrived today I allowed my girlfriend to look at the gift to avoid double purchases. I hope I resist the temptation of opening the gift. Question@Secret Santa: Can I open it for St. Nicholas? ^^

EDIT: On Christmas Eve I could finally open my gift: Thunderstone! Being a vivid LCG/CCG player this was a very good choice Additionally I got some souvenirs from New Zealand. A country I eagerly want to visit! The gift inspired me to do a similar thing for the next Secret Santa

Friendship is Love without his wings!
mbmbmbmbmb
After some quality taunting, Santa and his most reliable elf, Icepick Ron, managed to get the sleigh up and running to deliver my presents. Unfortunately, I was out at work when the package arrive, but my fiancé was in to collect it. And so ensued a barrage of questions:

Me: "It's arrived!! YAY!! (happy dance and exclamations of joy). What size is it?"

Fiancé: "Well, it's kind of big."

Me: "What shape?"

Fiancé: "Well, kind of square..."

Me: "Ooo! I can't wait to open it!:

Fiancé: "Erm...who says you're allowed to open it?"

Hmph! Well, now I'd hit a stumbling block. But, after some (rather pathetic) whimpering, she agreed to let the box be opened. However, only by her, and only to see if the contents were wrapped. So I quietly stood just our of view while the contents were gazed upon by eyes other than mine.

Fiancé: "They're wrapped!"

Nuts! But at least I could get the parcel out and have a closer look. But what's this? Not one, not two, but three presents lay within the box, along with a note to confirm this was Santa's present from Paul at BoardGameGuru!!! Cue more noises of excitement. Now the presents sit under our tiny Christmas tree in the front room, continuing to taunt me until I am finally able to open them on the 25th.

Only one final thing is left to say - THANK YOU SANTA and those are some pretty big tiddly winks

*UPDATE*

So after thanking Santa for his gifts, I receive a geekmail from the snowy overlord himself saying that he wouldn't be too disappointed if I took a peek inside all that shiny wrapping paper. After telling my fiancé (and showing her said geekmail to prove I wasn't just making it up), I was allowed to open them at breakfast. Inside was Medici, Strozzi and Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game – Secrets of Arkham! Medici is a game I have wanted in my collection ever since I downloaded it for my iPhone - its great on this portable platform, but nothing beats sitting down with a bunch of friends and a real board. Strozzi was a good choice by Santa to complement Medici, and will no doubt bring a ton of fun to our gaming table. Finally Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game – Secrets of Arkham was something a bit random - it seems Santa took note of my love for all things Lovecraftian, and decided to tempt me into playing the Call of Cthulhu card game - which I shall no doubt follow up on.

Once again, a big, BIG thanks to you Santa!! Now, if only I was able to work out who you are....

*EDIT*

After a brief exchange with my Secret Santa, it was revealed that my third present was supposed to be Medici vs Strozzi and not Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game – Secrets of Arkham. Unfortunately, it appears that the latter was mistakenly added to my shipment, instead of the correct game. A few emails from Santa and all was rectified, and I received Medici vs Strozzi earlier this week. On the plus side, the people they ordered from said I could keep the Cthulhu expansion. Nice

I received this gift from my Secret Santa on Thursday, but I had to wait until today to open it:
Santa wrote:
At the very least, I hope you you get a lot of use out of the 1st gift! Santa is celebrating Chanukah this year, so feel free to open up the gift when I open mine in the 1st week of December! Ho Ho Ho Ho

(Yay, it's the first week of December!)

Now, as everyone likes to do their cat pictures, I couldn't resist doing the same:

They kept a constant guard until I opened it.

Then they got the first peek inside, and decided they liked the box.

And look what I got! Age of Steam!! I've wanted that game for a long long time! Thanks Santa!!!

I can't wait to play this. The first game will probably be a 2p with my wife to get used to the game

Well, just got a box at work from Cool Stuff Inc. Since I hadn't ordered anything from them recently (other than for my own Secret Santa shipment) I figured it had to be from my own Secret Santa.

In the box was Kingsburg! I've actually had this game at the top of my wishlist for a little while. I've got a game night with friends this weekend, so this is probably hitting the table then, possibly sooner.

Also in the box was Race for the Galaxy!:

My girlfriend and I really enjoy San Juan, so this seems like a natural progression. It's been on my radar pretty much since I really started devoting myself to this hobby this year, but I could never quite pull the trigger on getting it. Glad to see this has been taken care of for me!

But wait, that's not all! I also got Small World: Cursed!!:

I really love Small World, but don't have any of the expansions, so this will definitely get some plays.

I'm pretty floored by the generosity of my Santa. All of these games will definitely see a lot of play.

Thanks Secret Santa! You're the best!

OOPS!!! I received a package yesterday and immediately opened it without even thinking! Suddenly, I saw the game, and got confused about who it could be from. Then I saw the words, "Secret Santa," on the packing slip! With Geekling #1 on the way, this gift is even MORE treasured! Who knows...it might get played while we're in the hospital! (You can never start introducing boardgames too soon!)

THANK YOU, SECRET SANTA!!!!!

UPDATE: Cartagena

So, I received a note from Santa telling me I might be visited multiple times...and sure enough, later that week, I received another package, this time, with Cartagena inside!! This is another awesome fun game I've had on my wishlist awhile!

Thank you so much for your generosity, Secret Santa!!!

Dear Secret Santa,

You rock! I've been wanting this game for nigh-on a decade. I'm sorry if you've been on tenterhooks waiting for my post to this list, but I was out of town for nearly a week for Thanksgiving. The package was waiting on my porch when I got home, but I don't know how long it was sitting there (hopefully not long, as it had been snowing). Anyway, I opened the package and this awesome game was waiting inside! Squeee!

Also included was a lovingly used copy of Yetisburg: Titanic Battles in History, Vol. 1, something I honestly wasn't expecting to ever land a copy of. (Now for the hard part: Convincing the Missus that she wants to play a Civil War Simulation Card Game Involving Big Hairy Critters. )

I'm ever thankful that our community is such that this kind of global gift exchange is not only possible but comes off so spectacularly year after year. That's the real Christmas Miracle.

At any rate, I'm totally stoked. Secret Santa, you done good.

Yesterday evening, I received a phone call from Dave at Time Well Spent, to inform me that he had a BGG Secret Santa gift ready for me to pick up. I wasted little time; I drove there this afternoon.

The box was sealed, but in the absence of instructions to the contrary, I opened it. Great choices, Secret Santa. Two games from my wish list, both in the "love to have" category!

I have wanted Strada Romana since it was published. It sounds like the type of game our family will really enjoy. I have been eager to try this one for the past year.

The other game was:

I heard about Infinite City earlier this year. Since our family game group of six really enjoys games such as Carcassonne, Citadels, and Alhambra, this one sounds like a good fit for us. Not only did I receive the basic game, but also the expansion - Guild Hall and Salvage Yard. Excellent!

Can’t wait to try them out.

Thank you so much, Secret Santa. You couldn’t have pleased me more! You were very generous, and I sincerely appreciate it.

Hope you have a great holiday season. You have certainly added to ours.

thumbsupthumbsupthumbsupthumbsupthumbsup

Update 12-21-2010: Played both games today with my son-in-law and my grandson. We enjoyed them very much. I think our whole family group will like Strada Romana, and perhaps Infinite City. I know the three of us who played today will also play Infinite City again. It is more conflict-oriented than I thought, and two members of our full group may not care for that type of action. Anyway, I'm very happy with these choices, Secret Santa, and I thank you again!

Santa (a.k.a. Father Christmas) had told me his elves were planing to stop by today, and it was just wonderful to wake up to find that a package had been delivered.

We (my husband and I) opened the box and found inside a very nicely wrapped package and a hand written note!

I thought about waiting for Christmas day... After all, Santa had gone to all that trouble to wrap the present so nicely (and such nice paper too!). But, being on the more impulsive side, and with a gaming night planned in the near future, my husband convinced me that it was a good idea to open it ("twisted my rubber arm" as they say).

Inside we found Invasion from Outer Space!! So exciting!

it was right off the top of my list!!!! However, there are so many items that were at the top of my list that I don't know that I would have ever gotten around to getting it for myself. We haven't played it, but looking at all the components, and reading through the rules makes me think that Santa made the perfect choice - it even comes with a CD of cheesy B-movie music to set the mood (of course, Santa already knew that this was the perfect choice for me - I just didn't know it myself).

Thankyou so much, Santa. Happy Holidays to everyone, and all the best in the new year!

A small package arrived today! The note said that it contained some of Santa's favorites, so I figured I better get it open immediately to see what the fuss was about.

Here are the little boxes in front of the display for our Playmobil advent calendar.

Verräter and Die Fugger!! Ok Santa, I've never heard of these and am so excited to play them. We are reading the rules now and will play Die Fugger tonight. Thank you so much! I love a good surprise!

UPDATE! I'm late posting the update, but my amazing secret santa wasn't done with Verrater and Die Fugger...

Another box arrived, and this one included not only two gaily wrapped gifts but also a Terrible Towel! Apparently Mrs. Claus is from the Pittsburgh area.

Inside the boxes were Formula D and Pecking Order! What an excellent surprise!

This is my first year participating in Secret Santa, and I want my Santa to know how much I appreciate the thought and effort that went into my gifts. Happy Happy Holidays to you Santa!

Went out to check the mail and found this box on our porch and I KNEW it was from Santa!

What could be inside? There could be ANYTHING in there!

Oooo! These are heavy!

Hooray!

Formula D's been on my radar for a long while now and it came at the perfect time as my brother in law had surgery on his back today and when I get home he and I can play this, being as he's a big gear head and all! Plus the Promo Car to boot! Woot!

PLUS On the Brink?! How awesome is that?! (pretty awesome, I'd say!) An expansion I've wanted since it came out but just couldn't justify its purchase. Now it's mine.

Thank you soooooo much Santa!! May all your merry wishes come true this Christmas and YOUR Secret Santa be as generous! God bless!!

Sincerely,

Bret

I got a special delivery tonight from Santa.
He was wearing a FedEx outfit but I could tell it was him.

My fiancee snatched it away before I could open the box so I won't be opening it until Christmas morning but that just makes it all the sweeter.

*UPDATE* I was thrilled to find Space Alert and the St. Petersburg expansion under the tree this year.
Thank you, Secret Santa!

I came home from work today to see a package from Amazon on the counter. Upon opening it I found a brand new copy of Le Havre. This completes my Uwe Harvest Trilogy. Thanks, Santa!

I have been very lucky and every year I have participated have had wonderful Santas. This year I had a particularly amazing Santa! We shared a lovely back and forth conversation!

I must relate some of the highlights as they are too delightful to keep totally to ourselves (well and anybody who particularly wants to look up the emails in the Santa account). We discussed my fine island city of Plainwell, Michigan and the many similarities it shares with other notable island cities and I learned that the capitol city of Sweden, Stockholm is actually an island city! This came up due to my surname - to which of course Santa was privy. I mentioned that the local police had recently informed my wife of a coyote on the prowl of or little island and my fear that Acme boxes would be found in neighbors yards. Santa was a bit concerned about my dogs and if they might not scare off the reindeer, but I reassured him that my knuckle heads would at most give him a tour of my house for a simple pat on the head and how the younger dog, Reese, had told my older dog that a chupacabra had scared away the coyote and Reese had told the beasty that Alaskan Malamutes taste like butterscotch. Santa was of course not fooled by talk of chupacabra noting that it was Big Foot he or she (but I *think* he) was more concerned about.

Honestly, I would have been happy with our correspondence alone as a treasured holiday gift but Santa followed up his (or her - but I *think* his) - obvious wit with an amazingly generous selection of games!

I came home yesterday to find a box from Boards and Bits - Santa had explained that they helped out his elves particularly since all the ash from various volcanic eruptions (which I now see was foreshadowing - Santa you are a sly one!) were causing the reindeer fits!

I realized that I had not asked Santa about his or her (but I *think* his) preference for when to open the package! I clarified with Santa and was assured it was fine to open the box so I could get some gaming in over the holidays!

Imagine my surprise when I found the following!

WOW!

just got a chance to play it for the first time so we had just recently been discussing it! Absolutely tippy top Santa!

But Santa didn't stop there, he or she (but I *think* he) also included Railways of the World: The Card Game
which I am most eager to try out for the first time! Santa must have noted my penchant for train games and I am most appreciative. Now had things stopped there I would have been gobsmacked, but Santa went for über-gobsmacked and also included Guillotine! Wow surprise

In the note (you can see the top half in the picture) Santa left me a clue as to his or her (but I *think* his) - identity ninja Santa, I will assuredly be tracking down this clue, as I can't imagine not finding and adding a new geek buddy

To my Santa, I am sincerely humbled by your generosity, especially in these difficult times we all find ourselves in. I wish you and your family the very best for the holiday season, and I hope that I am able to follow the breadcrumbs to you at some point

Warm regards and fond holiday wishes,
Van

It isn't actually Betrayal at House on the Hill....at least, I don't think so...

UPS delivered a package today. I'd been warned by Santa that something was coming so I rushed to the door to retrieve it. When I brought it in my heart sunk - the outside of the box said "Betrayal at House on the Hill - Wizards of the Coast". Don't get me wrong - Betrayal is a great game! In fact, I just got the reprint. I panicked a little upon reading those words, though - had I forgotten to take Betrayal off my Wishlist when I bought it over a month ago?

I tore into the packaging and instead of a shrink-wrapped betrayal I found a very nicely wrapped present and a sbort-and-sweet note. Phew!

Unfortunately, now I have to wait. My wife's rule is if it comes wrapped it waits until Christmas. Did you know that, Santa? How can I take the extra waiting!?! I might just have to let our one year old accidentally tear some of the wrapping off before I catch him....

Looking forward to finding out what's in there. Thanks, Santa!

Update

Got permission to open it early so I can potentially break the gift out at this weekend's game night. SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP! Santa is teh awesome!!! I've been devouring info on this game as it's been available. I'd hoped to get a play in at BGG.Con but it never materialized. I was resigned to waiting for the reprint rumored for March - no longer!

Thanks, Santa!!!!

Got home a few days ago to find my Secret Santa package on the porch. I opened and found: a gift wrapped game! I've promised myself that I won't open it until Christmas (but oh the temptation...). When i open it, I'll post the game in this slot.

Thank you Secret Santa, and

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Edit: Oops! blush Completely spaced on this! This came out, and then inexplicably vanished before I could grab a copy. On my wishlist it went. And on Christmas day, I opened it! (I mention this because this is the first SS gift that I ever waited until Christmas to open!) Except for my niece, we're all Office fans in my family, so this is perfect for family night. Thank you again, Secret Santa!
