For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Oh saaaawwwweeeet !!!

Thank you so much Santa for Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game!
I started to read the rules, and already salivating at the prospect of punching out all those markers

I hope I'll feel some of that BGG.con spirit when playing it. I'll be thinking of you that's for sure.

You've been a great Secret Santa

Argh!! Business trip took me away just when the package from Secret Santa arrived at the door! Checked with the fiancee and all I know is that it's a package, it's on my desk, and I'll have to wait until I get home!

So, update in the future is on tap - meanwhile - THANKS SECRET SANTA!! I know *something* is there!

-- Dec11 Edit --
So I'm now home from the trip and can look at the box... but, the fiancee has already opened up the package!! AND, She's hiding the packing slip - argh, again!! But...
I do see the following teasers:
Wooden Farm Animal Set from Mayday games - for Agricola!!! Yeah- cows, boars, sheep!
And, very handy!, a 100 pack 2x3 2mil ziploc minibags to store all of my games' tiny pieces! Perfect!!
The "package" is securely wrapped and already under the tree - and, cry, offlimits to me! She KNOWS, but won't give any hints, clues, things to ponder.
Big thanks for the teasers, Santa - I'll have to update you on Christmas Day as to the mysterious package!! (It's heavy, it's slightly rectangular, it's on my wishlist - and, , the package IS from Mayday Games - but, that's all I know! Now to narrow it down devil)

-- Dec15 Edit --
Okay, I've guessed several times and, well, the conversation is like this:
"Dominant Species.", I declare confidently - "no."
"A House Divided?", I wistfully ask - "No."
"The Republic of Rome?", I'm now running out of options - "NO!"
"20th Century?", I plead! - "No, nooooooo and no.... and, tee-hee - Nope."
ARGH!!!!

Ya see where this is going? She says that she'll tell me if I get it right. Really, I think she's enjoying my tortured state. I'm looking at the box, all shiny in it's gold-wrapped paper. I feel the quality of the box lid edge through that shiny paper. I'm thinking a GMT style game-box. But from Mayfair. My confusion abounds! I'm not sure about the box sizes of my guesses - that could be throwing me way off.
Geez!! Can I even last until Christmas?!

-- Dec23 Edit --
Argh!! the SO was DASTARDLY!! I had guessed right, but didn't find out until last night (family celebrated an early Christmas). Okay, well, I didn't guess right the FIRST time. But, geesh, I did get it . . .
The Republic of Rome!!

Secret Santa - that is so ON POINT!!
Huge Thanks and Merry Christmas!!

ROR was my favorite game at BGG.con - what a blast!

My Secret Santa was awesome, and despite his disapproval of my choice of games, he got me a game I've been trying to get, through, trading, my explanation must have convinced him, I also believe he must've been keeping all the traders away from me, with promises of coal for next year, because all I got was declines or just outright being ignored, if I only knew the plans that dastardly fat man in the red suit was up to, I wouldn't have tried so hard, but he also surprised me by adding a copy of Small World's newest expansion Small World: Be Not Afraid...

WOW!Santa does truly know everything, how did he know I would be interested in this, now my little nieces and godchild can become Pixies, Barbarians, Homonculi, etc. I can't wait to get together with them and enjoy some fun in our Small World...

MERRY CHRISTMAS! SANTA, WHOEVER YOU ARE, AND THANK YOU FROM ME AND MY FAMILY

Update: December 29th
I am sorry it has taken me so long to update this. I have had my sister here with her two sets of twins - ages 4 and 16 months. It has been really crazy here and this is the first chance I've gotten. My secret santa sent me the following games:

Thanks for your kindness and generosity. These games will be played and appreciated. I am really looking forward to getting to play these with my family over the holidays. You picked some excellent choices from my wishlist and threw in a surprise, also (I have heard a lot about werewolves and think my family will enjoy it a lot). I hope you and your family had a great Christmas!

I am so excited! I got my gift from Santa today! Thanks santa for sending my gift from the north pole (via Canada). Your elves have really been busy this year. I promise not to open your gift until Christmas Day! Thank you very much super silent secret Santa!

Last year Santa lived in Calgary, but this year it looks like Santa may have moved to Vancouver. I was actually in Vancouver this past summer (for a few hours anyway) and it was a beautiful city. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas this year. THANK YOU!!!

Merry Christmas!

Happy New Year!

P.S. To all you that haven't heard a word from Santa - I didn't hear anything either.
KEEP BELIEVING IN SANTA! SANTA IS REAL!

UPDATE: December 10, 2010

I just received another package from Santa. I am very surprised and grateful to my super secret silent santa. Thank you very much. This gift came from Troll & Toad. I was happy with the first package and I can't believe how blessed I am to receive another gift. Now I have 2 packages waiting for Christmas morning. I will update this after I open them.
THANK YOU SANTA!

I received a package from an unknown sender earlier this week. Uncertain of its origin, I opened the box. Oops. I figured out quickly this was my Secret Santa package, and the man (or woman) in red had not given me permission to open it. All was well, though, because I hadn't actually seen what was in the box, only a letter that identified this box as my bonus gift(s). Wait...what? This was a pretty big box, whatever it contained had to be more than simply a "bonus". I mean, this had to be the full course, right?!?

I set the box aside for all of two hours, until my cat saved me from my curiosity. Brave cat... doesn't he know what curiosity is capable of doing to his kind?? Still, the allure of the packing peanuts proved too much for my feline friend, and he had soon transported most of them from inside the box to outside the box. AHA! A perfect excuse to sneak a peak at the wonderful joys Santa had visited upon me. However, the box contents were still securely hidden under a small layer of peanuts. I couldn't look. I walked away, leaving my cat there to decide whether or not I should see my gifts that day. He promptly decided he didn't care, and walked away leaving the box still half full of those cursed styrofoam balls of PAIN!

I cracked a half-hour later. I just wanted one teensy little peek!. What I saw confused me: An expansion pack for Arcane Legions?? But I don't own Arca-- Oh! I tore into the box to find not only the Arcane Legion starter, but also two large army expansions and a set of 8 booster boxes!

I'm not certain what research Santa does before coming across these perfect gifts for good girls and boys, but its definitely effective. Arcane Legions was not on my wish-list. Also, I hadn't mentioned it anywhere on the geek, but I was currently looking for a war-game that I could start from the beginning with tons of minis. See, Santa knew I had been itching to try my hand at painting *AND* had been wanting to try a boardless war-game! I don't know how he knew, but he did. Arcane Legion will become a labor of love. I vow to custom paint at least one army in that game! At least one!

Santa, I'm sorry I peaked... but with your creepy and highly effective ESP, I'm sure you knew I would!

That is not the end of the story, by the way: I have a troop who has been in the desert for the past 6 months and he just returned to the states. I offered him a place to stay until he gets his housing set up and he took me up on the offer. He came in while I was stuck at work and by the time I got home he was there, with luggage and boxes and the like. I paid little attention to what was there until that night he moved everything but 1 box into the guest room. "You forgot a box", says I. "Not mine, was at the door when I got here", responds he. So I investigate. Oh Lord! Its another package from Santa. Santa: whatever I've done this year to deserve such generosity, I promise to do again next year for FREE!!

My restraint this time around is much more admirable, I think. I've set the packages aside and will wait patiently until Santa says GO! Then I'll open those packages so quick it'll make my head spin.

Thank You Santa! You've made my week, my month, and my whole holiday season!

-v

Post Christmas Update

As any good boy would, I saved my Christmas gifts until Christmas Day (a daunting task, but Santa's pre-xmas gift of Arcane Legions was enough to keep me temporarily occupied). Once the time came, though, I tore into those packages like a cat on crack. That is to say like what I think a cat on crack would be like if allowed to open presents. I started with the smaller packages first, and graduated up from there.

Santa showered me with gifts from both on and off my wishlist, and there wasn't a dud in the bunch, naturally. You've got to give it to him, the man (or she-santa, as the case may be) is good!

The first packages I opened contained a game that has lingered on my wishlist for a few years now. It's one of those games that I kept planning to buy, but always got distracted by something younger and newer. Shame on me. Santa graciously ended my torment by sending me Hive, accompanied by Hive: The Mosquito for good measure!

The second package I opened contained a game that was not on my wishlist. In fact, the first time I heard about this game was from this very geeklist. Santa knew I liked coop games and presented we with Forbidden Island. Thanks Santa, really looking forward to trying this one out!

Finally, the largest of the packages Santa sent to me contained a game I've been SUPER EXCITED about since first reading about it. Santa, you have made my Christmas amazing! I wish all of us could have a Santa as generous as you. Santa: THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU for Dungeon Lords!

Despite living in the hazardous and upside down country of Australia, my packages made it safe and sound. Santa had to enlist help from a Kangaroo sleigh team after some crocodiles made short work of Rudolf and Co.

I was expecting a package from my Secret Santa but was thrown off by the Amazon.com box it came in. Every time I've tried to order from them, they've refused to ship games to Australia due to distribution licence constraints or some such nonsense cry

So I opened this mystery package and was amazed to find both Imperial and Endeavor.

I was absolutely floored by the generosity of my Secret Santa. Even though they had to pay super expensive shipping to Australia they still sent me two full games!!!

I've been unemployed lately as I've been undergoing an epic struggle to try and get my depression under control. I entered this years Secret Santa as a way to help me save some money by stopping me from buying games in case I accidentally doubled up with my Secret Santa and so that I could engage in a random act of kindness to a stranger. Despite finances that are looking grimmer by the day, I still spent extra on my target to get them some games I like and I felt very enriched by the experience before I even received anything in return. To then be on the other end of such a massive act of kindness and generosity has really touched me and made a difference in my life.

Secret Santa, please accept my deep and sincere thanks for your gifts. They will greatly appreciated and enjoyed.

I already cracked Imperial open for a game last night and it was everything I was hoping for and much more. I had some minor trepidation about this game based on poor experiences with Antike but it still rose to the top of my wishlist due to it's economic nature (my favourite type of game). This trepidation was however proven to be entirely unfounded as the gameplay was beyond excellent. I'm very excited about playing this a lot more in the future.

I played one game of Endeavor on someone else's copy about 3 months ago and really enjoyed it. Despite having only 1 play under my belt I still occasionally think of this game months after the fact (hence its inclusion on my wishlist). This is another game that looks like it will reward further exploration, which I am keen to start with great haste.

Thanks again Secret Santa!!!!!

Santa was extra generous this year. Rather than get one game off my wish list he picked 2 AND added another 2.

Hornet
The Bottle Imp
Steam
Power Grid: Russia & Japan

I was going to attempt to hold off on opening up the box but...well, you know what happened. I managed to wait until after dinner. My oldest son and I got in a game of Hornet before bed time.

Santa you are terrific (). The Power Grid Japan/Russia expansion was at the top of my wish list. Steam wasn't far behind but I was holding off. Hornets I hadn't even read about with it being an Essen 2010 release but its a nice and quick area control game. I'm sure Bottle Imp will be well loved as well.

I even had a Santa that sent some messages this year to let me know he was out there and then that my package was on its way.

I always enjoy playing my Secret Santa games and marvel at the time and effort some SS's put into the whole gift giving event.

THANKS

I just received my gift from my Secret Santa. It's a huge box from Shire Games. This is my 1st SS and I'm so happy

My targets have both received their presents (I'm also in the Dice Tower SS) but I'm in Turkey and shipping usually takes a while so I wasn't expecting my present this early but here it is! Also the timing couldn't be better; I woke up feeling awful and had to take a day off. I was in bed resting when this arrived and it just brightened up my day!!

Out of the box came three items; Forbidden Island and two gift wrapped packages with a note saying that I shouldn't open them or I won't get a gift next year surprise I guess they forgot to gift wrap Forbidden Island

Anyways, I know shipping to Turkey has been costly but thank you so much Santa!! I hope you have a nice Christmas with lots of presents as well!!

Now I have to go do my happy dance..

Update:
The gift wrapped games were Ice Flow and Red November. Thanks dear Santa!

The Guardhouse Expansion! This will be neat to try out once I get a few games of Ghost Stories in. I also received...

Jaipur! This game is nice and small so I can easily bring it with me when I spend christmas with my girlfriend's family this year, and it is probably the game I most wanted to play with my girlfriend as it looks like a quick fun two player game which she would enjoy.

Thanks so much Santa, this is turning out to be a great Christmas for me. I hope you have a great Christmas too!

Santa gave me this, and: Dominion: Prosperity

And then followed up by revealing her identity! I have now successfully identified all of my Secret Santas! Though I wouldn't have this year if she hadn't revealed herself.,

Santa gave me the postal tracking code for my package and I noticed during the workday that it had arrived at local post office. Picked it up after work and there it is, tempting me.

By it's shape it's not big enough for a few items on my list, but then again it has enough volume for 2 stacked games/expansions. Turning the package produces dice rolls. So I don't really have much of a clue what's in there.

I'll try to keep it out of my mind for now, but our BG group has a Christmas party coming up a week before Christmas so I'll hold out until then, at least.

The taunting was/is fun, waiting for the package to arrive was bad but having it within your reach is worse.

edit: Second package surprised me by arriving directly as it was a medium-sized padded envelope that fits in the mailbox. This was nice as the weather currently is -18C and half a meter of snow. By default, packages aren't delivered unless small. You just get a note informing you that it's at the post office.

December 26th
Christmas finally arrived and it was time to open the packages.

Out came Race for the Galaxy!

and it's expansion!

I also found Fairy Tale

This wasn't even on my list but it looks fun and the base mechanics look very 7 Wonders. The rules were awfully translated, so I checked out the English ones.

And then there was a second package from Sinterklaas which contained some Christmas treats from his homeland.

Thank you so much Santa and Sinterklaas!

Merry Christmas to all, and a happy New Year.

I know my Santa said that I could not open it until Christmas. To my defense: I did not open it; the bottom fell off from the box, so it kind of opened itself. Yes, it is true!

So ... When I stood in my entrance hall with a bag of groceries in each hand and a box under one arm while trying to stop the games from hitting the floor (I think I tried to use at least one knee as well) with at least two of my cats watching me with that silent haughty disdain only cats can muster, I realised that I could as well give up and get my surprise early.

Thank you Santa! These are great gifts!

Not only did I get Bausack; I also got Energy City. The games is not yet in the database, and I am not really sure this game was ordered by my Santa. I think it is a promotional item. Not that I really care! Can someone translate the rules to English, please?

And, lastly I got:
Hive: The Ladybug

Thank you again Santa!

So, this is my first Secret Santa ever. I was very curious to see how it looks from inside.

I haven't heard from my Santa until a few days ago when he apologized for delay in contacting me (his Elves were overwhelmed by the letters) and said that I should be expecting the present this week.

Indeed, the package was waiting for me when I got back home yesterday. At first I decided that I won't open it before Christmas, but I was curious to know what's inside. I was shaking and turning the box, listing to the sound of falling pieces but I had no clue what could it be. I left it unopened for the night.
Today I was so excited that I couldn't resist opening my present any more, so I opened it and..

I found a new (moon)shining copy of Luna inside!

This is the game I really wanted to get, because I'm so captivated by its mysterious theme!

THANK YOU SO MUCH, DEAR SANTA, FOR THIS GREAT GAME!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!

Power Grid Russia/Japan has been on the top of my list since it was announced and my Secret Santa came through surprising me with it!! I can't wait to get this out on the table. I've got great expectations for it--hmm, that sounds like a good name for a book...

Oh and Santa also sent me Formula D: Circuits 2 – Hockenheim and Valencia which is a necessity for our up and coming Formula D league in our group!!

Thanks Secret Santa!!

I received 2 packages from Santa: a small one and a bigger one.

We opened the small one with our Sinterklaas Celebration (December 5), and it contained Antigua

and
Adlungland

The bigger box is still wrapped in X-mas paper ..... but for how long?

Update: On december 12 I could no longer resist and inside was Conquest of the Fallen Lands,
which is SUPER as I actually requested a game that I had never played and preferably even never heard of.

Know what?
Santa succeeded. I had never heard about it. We immediately set it up, and played a game and liked it a lot. This game, from a small publisher, will surely see more plays!

Thanks Santa! What a super idea! You couldn't have done better!

Thank you Secret Santa!!

Now that the egg has been nogged and the gifts have been opened, it's time for a recap.

First of all, my secret santa did an excellent job of selecting games. Everything from my wishlist was highly wanted. Since I have the upcoming week off from work, I know what I'll be playing.

In addition to the Lord of the Rings game, I received the following...

Scary Tales: Snow White vs. The Giant

This looks like a great lunch time game for me and my wife to play.

Tichu

Tichu is currently all the rage with my boardgame group, so I can finally join in on the fun!

Tien Zi Que

My wife and I are big fans of MahJong, but it's difficult to find other like-minded people. This will be a big hit.

Fairy Tale

And last, but not least, something that wasn't on my wishlist. I've already read the instructions and am ready to start playing...

Once again, thank you Secret Santa!
