For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Missed it by that much ...

It has finally started to feel like winter here in Vermont, and my evening walks home from work have been tinged with anticipation - will the Secret Santa box be there tonight? I was happy knowing that my Secret Santa recipient had received his gift in Estonia, and my Wargame Santa Grogs recipient had received his gift as well. And to top it all off, I mailed the last of my Christmas card exchange cards off today!

I have been hearing from my various Santas, and knew that a package should be arriving soon, so I wasn't terribly surprised to see a package on my stairs when I got home tonight. I brought it up, and waited all of about 2 minutes to crack it open to see who it was from.

The package was a bit worse for wear after its travels from the North Pole to Vermont (apparently via Kansas City ), and there were some pink puffs of packing material poking out here and there.

Upon opening the box, I saw a sea of pink, with a note from Santa floating on top. A "used" game . . . hmmmm, now I was confused - maybe this is my Wargame Santa Grogs, because a lot of my "grail" wargames would necessarily be used because they are OOP. Of course, I do have some older games on my wishlist that would most likely be used, so . . .
Now I have to know, so I dug into the pink foam, and found . . .

Samurai Swords! Awesome - I played this one a lot with my cousin in the late 80s, but that copy was lost along the years to the yard sale demons. I've been trying to talk another cousin out of a basement copy of the game for a couple of years now, but he has held pretty steady - and this copy is in much better shape! Good corners on the box, looks like a lot of pieces (I'll be busy this weekend inventorying . . .), and then I noticed - there was a surprise inside the box.

Another game - Summoner Wars: Guild Dwarves vs Cave Goblins . Nice! This is a game I've become interested in recently, and it will be a welcome addition to my collection. And my cat was interested, too . . .

So, thank you Secret Santa! I've been wanting to reacquire this game for a while, but just haven't been able to make it happen. Perfect choice!

My Secret Santa totally rocks!

Smallworld. But that's not all. He even included three expansions:

1. Be Not Afraid...

2. Grand Dames of Smallworld

3. Cursed!

Thank you, Secret Santa! Merry Christmas, all!

Kory...

(For the record, I did not cheat -- the store shipped the games unwrapped and just in the plain cardboard box along with styrofoam peanuts.)

I got home today and was surprised to see that fedex had left a box. I was doubley surprised considering I hadn't noticed until recently that when I signed up I used my forum name instead of my real name. So I figured for sure if anything had been shipped before I correceted it that it would be lost in shipping for a while considering my post office is run by untrained monkeys. I was very surprised to see that the package had my forum name yet still made it,

I hope my Secret Santa doesn't mind that I opened it. I had told myself when I signed up that if there weren't other instructions if it was wrapped I was going to unwrap it ONLY if my target had already unwrapped and posted confirmation. Luckily my target has already posted here and opened so I was free to open.

I can't wait till our next game night to introduce it to the guys. I forsee this hitting the table soon. Its so much cooler than it looks in pics to actually see the crazy amount of little wooden cubes and such, plus the tower mechanic is just neat, should be a lot of fun.

Thank you Secret Santa whoever you are!

Just went ot get my games!!!

Because I won't be in Paris but at La Réunion (next to Madagascar) for christmas I already opened them!!

First a little story.

Like a dumbass, I entered Choubi Gogs as my name on the geekexchange information. Fortunately, my great secret santa warned me he had sent the package with Choubi Gogs as name so I managed to write down the nickname on my post box. Unfortunately I wasn't home when the post guy came so I had to go to the post office... I went yesterday but because the package was for Choubi Gogs and not myself, the first guy flat out refused to check if the package was there or to give it to me... He told me only thing I could do was wait 2 weeks until the package was sent back because not having been claimed and then see with the sender that he sent it back with the correct name this time... Grrr... Fortunately, he geared me towards his manager who told me that he would agree to give me the package if I could provide something that showed I was indeed choubi gogs (a print screen on BGG with both my real name and Choubi gogs would suffice). Also, he told me that the package hadn't yet arrived because of the snow (10cm of snow, worst case of snow in the last 50 years!!).

So I went back this morning with my print screen and there was no problem at all (my guess is the ifrst guy I saw was a jerk).

Anyway, now that I have my packages here is what I got:

Luna

A game that really looks like it's up my alley, I was really following this closely since Essen. Now I don't have to follow it closely, I just have to play it! Thanks SANTA!!!

But that's not it!
I also got:

Onirim

A great little co-op game for 1-2 players. When I heard about the theme and most specifically the review titled "Inception...", I knew I just had to get this game. As a matter of fact, I was waiting to get the package to make an order myself (for twilight struggle, my gf REALLY wants to try it out since it is n°1 here...) and had included this to complete the order and get free shipping... I guess I'll have to find another filler like Im Auftrag des Königs... Oh wait, what's that at the bottom of the box??

Im Auftrag des Königs

YES, SANTA didn't just send me 2 games, he also sent me this third little filler that I was eyeing.

Thanks Santa!!! I hope your own Secret santa was as generous as you were!

You've just made christmas for me!!!

I arrived home from work last night to find a box at my door...Santa had come!

As I opened the box, I found two giftwrapped boxes nestled inside. I set them aside, deliberating as to whether I should open them or wait. To bide my time, I cleared out the box of the packing peanuts and found a piece of paper. Without thinking, I opened it...and it was the packing slip. SOOOO.....

I know what I got, but I'm waiting like a good boy. Santa also sweetened the deal with this:

Race for the Galaxy: The Brink of War

Thank you so much Santa!!!

Wow, my Secret Santa is the best.

My wife texted me at work and said that Santa dropped something off for me. Boy the rest of my work day was a bust, too distracted.

Anyway, when I got home, I opened the box and fortunately I didn't have the hard decision whether to unwrap or put under the tree. They came unwrapped.

My Secret Santa sent me Leaping Lemmings, AND

Wooly Bully AND

War & Sheep

EDIT: My Secret Santa told me to check the box one more time, and buried in the popcorn was Parade. This is really great because my wife loves everything Alice in Wonderland. (We live in the Wonderland Forest section of Suffolk, VA and our farm name is Cheshire Farm & Nursery.)

With grown children who visit now and then, a 2 player game that my wife might enjoy, and two more 2-4 player games that the whole family can enjoy = many hours and days of game playing pleasure.

a BIG THANK YOU, Secret Santa

Mike

Santa has sprung! I got a great combo with Frontline D-Day and The Palace expansion to Revolution.

I always thought Revolution would be a good non-gamer game as it is easy to play, requires interaction (so to speak), and the least experienced gamer has just about the same chance of winning as the most experienced gamer.

The problem is it only takes 4 people and we usually have 6 or so, so we never played it at any family gathering - until the holidays this year!

and the Frontline D-Day is the perfect thing to pair it with as once I annoy the hell out of everyone else with all my non-Monopoly game playing I can sit in the corner by myself and continue to do what I want while they do something much more intimate and loving but much less fun than killing Nazi's on the beaches.

Thank you Secret Santa for the awesome combo!!!!!

Wow! Words cannot do justice to how awesome my Secret Santa was this year. He/she really went above and beyond making this an extremely fun gift exchange.

First of all, there were several taunting emails, which is always fun. But then, once the package was in the mail, Santa sent me puzzle-like clues forcing me to guess what games were on the way! I got the first one, had some help on the second one, but the package arrived before I figured out any of the rest.

READ THIS FIRST!

My Secret Santa put in a lot of effort creating the puzzles for me, and I didn't give them the attention deserved. Before reading the answers below, please check out his list of all the clues. Thank you.

That notice is probably too late for most people reading this, but I wanted to give him credit where I could.

Now for some extra space...

And now... The Haul!

Titan - This one just blows me away. It wasn't on my wishlist, but I trust that Santa believes I will enjoy it. It is so heavy! This game alone seems too generous, but it gets better.

Cyclades - This *was* on my wishlist, and was the one I guessed from the clue. I'm excited about it and eager to get it to the table.

Bargain Hunter - This is the one my friend guessed from the clues. I had completely forgotten it was being reprinted, and I'm *very* happy to have it in my collection.

Power Grid: Russia & Japan - There's more!? I almost feel bad asking for more Power Grid maps, since I don't get to play it nearly as much as I'd like, but who cares? Hooray!

Mr. Jack Pocket - I was extremely satisfied already, but for some reason I felt the urge to shove my hands into the packing peanuts just for fun. I'm glad I did! I felt this tiny little jewel way down at the bottom! I can't wait to try it out with my wife.

- On top of all this gaming goodness, I also received a $5 gift certificate for CoolStuffInc.

I don't know what I've done to deserve this extreme generosity. I don't want to sound pathetic, but my wife refuses to buy me games for Christmas, so this exchange is the only way for me to get them as presents. This really made me giddy like a nine-year-old! Thank you sooo much Secret Santa!

Definitely my best Secret Santa ever!

My Secret Santa, who has been quite good fun and an exceptional sport left me with the instructions not to reveal what my present is until the 24th. So I haven't opened it and I've tried resisting giving it too hard a shake. (Though I am now tempted to run off and shake it again).

All I do know is it's not the same size as any of the games I own and it rattles a bit when shaken (but not too vigorously of course).

It's now sitting about the place taunting me with it's wrapped up goodness, it's like Schrodinger's board game...

My SS did say originally I was going to get a different game, but beinga shrewd stalker. Santa discovered that my housemate

Yesterday I received a notice from Canada Post that I had a package to pick up. Going there today I found a large and very heavy package waiting for me (from Meeplemart, a great store that my Toronto friends use all the time - and Santa was smart to use a Canadian store as he/she mentioned they live nearly 5000 miles away!).

I brought the package home and opened it up, planning to take some pictures of the wrapped present under the tree. But I shouldn't have assumed it was wrapped because it was not! And I promised my Secret Santa that I wouldn't open it until Christmas! I wasn't upset too long though as I beheld the huge game inside... Castle Ravenloft! Man this game is freaking huge!!!

Thank you so much Secret Santa, and hopefully you can forgive me for opening it early!

THANKS SANTA!

Got home from work today, a little tired and a little world-weary.

What to my wondering eyes should appear, but a package! FROM SANTA!

AND IT'S HEAVY!!! Can't wait to open it.

I especially want to thank him for the granola.

Great taunts, great delivery information given, great touches on the package, great gift touch with the granola. I haven't opened the gifts yet, but I am going to go ahead and say this is a GREAT SANTA!

Great Santa! Thanks I received:

Titan

and

2 de Mayo

and some DELICIOUS GRANOLA.

A little backstory, to set the stage.

In the past week, I've traveled on four different airlines, been caught in two different snowstorms (one driving, one flying), and have had three night of less than two hours sleep. After a four hour delay in Memphis, I finally made it to the airport taxi line- only to see the queue 100 people deep. Finally getting home well into the morning, I opened my front door to see that my roommate had left a large rectangular UPS package upon our table. From it seemed to emit a warm, friendly glow (granted, it was probably the glare from my dirty, smudged glasses, but bear with me) that just called to me.

What's in it? Could I wait? Of course not.
"I'll open it," I reasoned, "and if the games are wrapped, I'll wait." (I was lying to myself). They were not. (Thanks, SS!)

I ripped open the box, and what spilled out was a game I've been holding back from buying for months: San Juan!

A classic, and one that I've sadly never played.

But wait! This was a big box... San Juan is fairly small in size. Some scattered packing peanuts gave way to another, much bigger box: Last Night on Earth!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Secret Santa, for your spectacular generosity. Both of these games will see a ton of play with my friends. And what a wonderfully happy ending to a exhausting day.

(And for anyone that was curious, of course I opened the boxes and read the rules before falling asleep. )

thought for the day: beware of xenos bearing gifts.

#transmission begins#

Having arrived at barracks after instructional duties, i found a container placed inside the bulkhead. marked with imperial eagles, it appears to be a standard imperial shipping container with some significance since it is officially stamped "PRIORITY." i can only assume i am meant to open this immediately. however, i am taken aback by the name on the manifest. "Secret Santa: North Pole." this name was coined by a localized imperial cult in the Sol system, who worshiped the Emperor in crimson and white panoply and viewed him as a bringer of gifts and favor. have i been blessed by the presence of the Emperor Himself? this could constitute heresy. must submit for testing.

inside are three tidily wrapped packages, two of identical size and a third with what appears to be an object the size and shape of a crack grenade. proceeding with caution, i unwrap the packages to find a morally pure, inquisition approved training simulator:

these pasteboard drills will surely come in handy when i ship out with the Adeptus Astartes next month!

the second package contains another inquisition training simulator for infiltrating late iron-age tech planets:

i am thankful to the emperor for sending me this bounty. What could the last package be?

knowing that it could be a trap (since it appears to contain unexploded ordinance) i open it cautiously and find...no! it can't be! a morally dangerous item like this?! another simulator but wherein i am expected to take on the role of chaos-magic infected walking dead?! emperor help me! i am lost! AAAAARRRGGGHH!!

#transmission ends#

investigating inquisitors notes: former inquisitor byrnison was found in a rhapsodic condition repeating a chant closely identified with chaos cultists: "thanks secret santa! thanks secret santa!" he has been terminated and the simulations have been confiscated for further study by the inquisition.

purge the unclean.

Well well, although I was a total idiot and didn't put my NAME in the field NAME but my nickname, the elves of Santa brought me nice gifts today.

After my girl friend bludgeoned the elves of our lawn they left me:

Zombies!!!

but not alone, they brought friends:

Zombies!!! 5: School's Out Forever

Zombies!!! 6: Six Feet Under

Again, I am SO sorry Santa for my stupidity.

I learned, that the german postal service will not bring you anything if you only know the address. And my girl friend had a funny phone call of the game store my santa bought it from. They were like "Uhm I know that sounds stupid, but we have a package for someone called 'Whitewolf'?" ^_^

Sorry again, next year I will double check, so I will not be an idiot again

And thanks again Santa, I will try it out around christmas, when I get home to my gf

I waited to post this until I was able to play both of my Secret Santa gifts. The package arrived a few days ago, and I couldn't wait to open it and see was inside. My Secret Santa (who I figured out was kadus) had been taunting me with possibilities of what might be inside and said I could open it as soon as it arrived!

My Secret Santa kept great communication with me throughout this whole process, with lots of taunts and lots of fun. She gave hints throughout that helped me figure out who she was. It made the whole process and my first BGG Secret Santa much more fun! I had the best Secret Santa ever!

I got from work a few days ago and it was here. It was finally time to find out what my Santa had gotten me! I opened the box and a wisp of Christmas magic came out.

What to my wandering eyes should appear, but 2 games! 1 was from my wishlist, PUNCT:

And one was a game that my Santa really likes and thinks everyone should own, In the Year of the Dragon:

The first game of PUNCT was played with the initial rules and we ended in a tie thanks to the great strategists we are. Next time, a game with the full rules!

Next up, we played "In the Year of the Dragon". But first, I had to punch out all the components:

Then it took a few days before we were able to play it due to work schedules (I work in retail). Then it was finally time to play.

(these are from my husband's point of view)

I ended up winning 124-95. I really really liked this game!

The funny thing is that even though PUNCT was from my wishlist and In the Year of the Dragon wasn't, I enjoyed "In the Year of the Dragon" the most! I always love having a lot of different choices when its my turn, and it's going to be different every time with the events and actions. I beat my husband (I wiped the floor with him) cool

Thank you Santa!!!

I came home from work today and went straight to my apartment complex's office to pick up a package of Christmas presents for my parents. When two boxes were slid across the counter, I was surprised, and then elated. My strong and very silent secret santa had struck! Look, look!

See? See? Ooooh, I can't wait to open it! I wonder what it could be! It's about the right size for several things on my list. Where's that pull tab... Wait... What's this?

Santa, noooo! Does your cruelty know no bounds? That's fifteen whole days! Fifteen! Two whole work weeks, even! How ever will I survive?

I'll edit this post when this black ink no longer holds its power over me. In the mean time, I shall place this box on my kitchen counter, where it will torment me for the next 341 hours and counting!. zombie

This has been my first BGG Secret Santa experience, and I can already tell that I'm going to make it a yearly tradition. This has been great fun, and I want to take a moment to thank my strong, silent secret santa in advance for this present. It's a wonderful feeling!

Edit

The time has finally come! I opened the package to discover:

Neuroshima Nex! Also included was a $5 gift certificate to CSI, which I've already used to pay for part of an order of Snow Tails!

Thank you, Santa! My friends and I have already played your present several times, and everybody likes it. I really enjoy the tactical, almost puzzle-like experience, and I bet this will make an excellent lunch game at work.

Merry Christmas, everyone. I'll be looking forward to participating next year!

Santa, thank you for not one but two special presents! Today I came home to find Dominion: Prosperity in a nice box, with Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game hiding underneath. As soon as I get some new sleeves I'll be getting the first one out on the table, and I know my friends will like the second. (And if they don't, I'll play it solo!)

Well a package arrived that I had heard might be here I haden't been on to check any news from my secret santa in awhile. My husband and I have agreed that neither of us will open our gifts until Christmas although he did open it to inspect what was inside and told me that there are three wrapped packages inside.

I've been sick lately and after a visit the night before to the Urgent Care the doctor said she thinks I might have the beginings of phnemonia. So having a package arrive to me really did cheer up my day. My daughter asked when do I get a package with my name on it? I told her maybe for your birthday. I'm sure once she's old enough we will let her get involved in the secret santa exchange.

Thank you SANTA even thought I don't know yet what you got me I am super greatful.
