For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

I got my Secret Santa package today, after a bit of friendly correspondence with Santa's chief helper, Mr. Harry Telf.

In the package were 3 boxes, all very nicely wrapped and each bearing a note and a candy cane (for which my fiance is grateful). The smallest of the boxes said "Open me first!" Inside was a small note, admonishing me to stay strong and wait until Christmas to open the other packages, along with a little bundle of "coal" for being naughty and impatient. Of course, I immediately opened the other packages, partly because I'm naughty by nature, and partly because I'll be out of town over the holiday.

Lo and behold, a copy of Martinique! Always one for 2 player only games, this one was on my wishlist from last year's Essen, and then I forgot about it. Many thanks, it will hit the table tonight, I'm sure!

Also included was a copy of:

Mr. Jack Pocket! This was quite a coincidence, because we just got and played regular ol' Mr. Jack over the weekend, and liked it very much. This seems like a similar game in some ways, much different in others, and I love the size! Very neat - I can't wait to start tossing those action chips!

Thanks for some great surprises Santa and Harry!

THANK YOU SANTA

This was my first BGG Secret Santa experience. I'm so glad I participated. Not only did I receive an awesome present, but my target lives in Sweden and I learned alot about his town. Not to mention the fun of translating Swedish by ordering through an online Swedish game store. Very cool!

Thanks BGG and all you geeky Santas out there!!!

Yes Santa! Thank you! I played this twice last summer and loved it. This will get much love. Plus it came with the "Leap of Death" expansion tile.

Then there was this:

This was a Must Have game as well despite never having played it. This will be a hit at home and at the game club.

Now santa there is one more thing I want. A few hints of who you are. I have come to geekbuddy all my former Santas. I hope I can do this with you as well.

Although I couldn't resist opening the package when it came -- in spite of the awful risk of revealing everything before The Big Day -- I don't think anybody could blame me: up until this point I'd been woefully untaunted, and that return address was something out of legend:

Bruce Wayne lives in Los Angeles.

(I always thought Gotham was a stand-in for New York, but maybe he was slumming it in Silverlake with a couple of screenwriters in preparation for one of his many, many film gigs. Who can know with the Dark Knight.)

But more surprises awaited me upon opening -- namely, that Mr. Wayne was only a courier for one D. Prince (showing me the full splendor of her recent manicure), and the second surprise was that I was addressed as "Citizen", which is something I never thought I'd be addressed as, barring jail time or some 1984-ish dystopia.

Anyway, I worry about Wonder Woman's full crime-fighting capabilities if her invisible jet's keys "are always disappearing".

That heavy box calls, but I haven't opened it yet -- that golden lasso, y'know.

Inside was a copy of the superb TtA! Soooooo excited. I've been playing this game a lot lately and am discovering its layers and strategies. I'm so glad to have my own copy now!

So, my dad told me I had two packages at his office yesterday. (thanks for bringing them home . . . ) He said I had a big one, and a small, heavy one. I had known that a box of gifts for people I had ordered from amazon arrived that day, and it didn't actually occur to me until this morning that the other one was probably secret santa related!

So, I went in before work to get them.

Let me just say, Wow! My Santa was a very generous Santa this year, including not only this large, amazing game but also 7 Ate 9, which looks like a fun little filler! Thank you so much for your efforts this year, whoever my Secret Santa is! I can only hope my targets will be just as pleased as I am.

This next bit is a little awkward:

Um, I've owned Battles of Napoleon since it came out, so I'm fairly sure it wasn't on my wishlist, this year. There was no invoice from Miniatures Market (who included a nice card, thank you!) so any theory I come up with about my receiving this (awesome) game doesn't quite make sense yet.

Santa, if you read this, I'd love a little further explanation!

Thank you so much!

Merry Christmas to all of you!

I was thrilled to find a package notification slip in the mail a few days ago and went to the post office to pick up the package a couple of days later. It was a box sent all the way from Florida (postage was a pretty penny), and inside was a nicely wrapped gift. I was so incredibly patient that I waited an entire day before ripping the wrapping open to find a copy of Columbia's Richard the Third!!!

Wow - thank-you so much Santa! I can hardly wait to play this!! Being a big fan of Hammer of the Scots, I was very interested to play Jerry Taylor's latest, and now I have my own copy!!! My boys will really enjoy playing this with me, and I bet I can even convince my wife.

Then to top it all off, I got a bubble envelope in the mail today all the way from France! My Secret Santa had told me that one of my packages had a long ways to travel, so when I saw this envelope, I immediately though of Ystari Games. When I looked inside, there was a copy of the Mykerinos Nile expansion that I have wanted from the moment it came out. I had despaired of ever getting it since they`ve never published it this side of the Atlantic, so this is a real treat!

Thank-you for your generosity and for going the extra mile Santa. You`ve made this fellow a very happy guy.

My Not So Secret Santa gift arrived today!

It's a game that I added to my wishlist without having played it at the time, but by coincidence I've played it twice in the past two weeks and I love it.

Now I have my own copy of Homesteaders!

I'm an Alex Rockwell fan in general, and I really like this game.

The icing on the cake was that the game was actually shipped to my house and I didn't have to pay import taxes on it! (I like to provide an alternate Canadian address just in case). This meant that my Hidden Hannukah Harry had to have the game shipped to himself first and then reship it to me, so I know who to thank now.

So thanks

The note (with a Wallace and Gromit dressed as Santa) said that he had heard of it while listening to The Spiel and couldn't help but add it in.

I had the best Secret Santa ever this year (sorry previous Santa's). This past Friday (and this Monday) the wife and I opened up two packages. We were very pleased with games our Secret Santa chose for us.

On Friday we got Chicago Express.

The Wife and I have both played Chicago Express a few times (I have also played Wabash Cannonball on the IPhone a bunch). So we were very pleased to get a copy of our own.

Chicago Express would have been enough, but our Santa decided to be a little more generous in these hard times.

So on Monday we also got...

...Forbidden Island. A game we were planning on getting, as we both liked it a lot the few times we have played it. Now we have it and we also gave it a quick play on Monday night.

Thank you Santa (aka Tony), very much. A Merry Christmas to Tony and all BGGers.

Ah yes. I got home yesterday to find a wonderful little package on my door step. Santa evidently has been working on his tan as he sent me my present from sunny AZ. Considering how cold it has been her in Illinois, I was hoping he'd send me a little bit of warmth with the game that was contained within. No luck.

My Santa really made this a great first experience for me. A few weeks ago, I received the following missive:

Dear Duane -

Have you been a good boy this year? If so, you'll exclaim "Whoopi!" once you see what I've put under your holiday tree.

Your Pal,

Santa

Hmmmm. Very intersting. I was immediately intrigued with his use of the word "Whoopi" which is spelled like the name of a certain comedic actress. That got me thinking: "Could it be a clue to my gift? Was Santa sending me Ghost Stories which was on my list?? Or after looking at my collection and profile, possibly sending me something not on my list, like Nuns On The Run?"

I had to see if I could get more info so I sent Santa a reply:

Santa,

I have been a good boy but I'm a bit concerned about you wrapping up Whoopi Goldberg for me.

Don't get me wrong, I really love Sister Act but I'm not getting the cops called on me for kidnapping...

Jessica Alba would be fine, though...

Now I really was not sure if I'd receive a reply. After all, many people had been getting notes from thier Santas for weeks and I was really not expecting to get "taunted" because the records have shown that most Santa's don't taunt so maybe this was just a note from my Santa to let me know the game was on the way (wow, that's a long sentence). But a few days later, I got a responce:

Dear Duane -

You haven't been THAT good!

blush

But you are thinking along the right lines regarding my clue.

I think you'll find the gift heading your way will fit you like a mitten, er Glove.

Happy Holidays,

Santa

Hmmm, that's not much help... Or is it?! The odd use of the cross out to accentuate "er Glove"... Perhaps a reference to Danny Glover.

So off to imdb I went. It did not take me too long to figure out that both actors were in The Color Purple (I have to confess, I've never seen the movie so I would have never made the connection on my own...).

Now this might not mean much to most people, but I had placed a note on my wish list that I really wanted TTR: Nordic Countries because my wife and I mainly play two player games together and love TTR but most maps do not accomidate two players very well. Plus, it has purple trains!! Purple is my favorite color but I very seldom get to play as purple because most games do not have pieces of that color.

One PM later and Santa confirmed that I was correct! I was so excited when I opened the box and inside was my very own copy of TTR:NC. The funny thing is that the game had actually been in my cart when I was ordering for my own recipient (hey, I was getting free shipping to my house since I was going to be mailing my recipient's package myself as I added in goodies that were not available online), but I just could not go thru with the purchase because things have been tight this year budget wise. I also had a shrinkwrapped copy in my house for a few weeks as I had used some store credit at my FLGS to secure a copy to mail to relatives who live in Sweden and it had been taunting me all along.

But now I have a copy all to myself!! Thanks Santa!! I don't care what people say, you are real to me this year!!

Hoody Hoo!

Thank you, Santa, thank you. A very funny taunt and a pair of games from high atop my Wishlist - what more could a Geek want?

"A pair of games?", you say.

Why, yes - apparently, due to the high population of planet Earth, Santa can no longer tell if I've been "naughty" or "nice", but now only relies on a list telling him who has been "not naughty". And since I appear not to have been caught (or at least not convicted) my name is on that list this year, so Santa sent two games on the off chance that I might actually have been "nice" . . .

Snow Tails was a game I watched in play at ConnCon this past March and added to my Wishlist once I got home. Very excited to try it out with my wife very soon.

I played Cities a year or more back and knew I had to own it. And now I do! Brilliant tile laying, brain burny, multiplayer solitaire goodness . . .

But what's this? In the bottom of the box, hidden amoungst all of the CSI peanuts? A promo tile for Snow Tails - Snow Tails: The Leap of Death. My cup runneth over . . .

Thanks again, Santa. Happy Holidays to you and yours, and raise a glass with me "To a Good Game"!

I came home from work monday to find a package from Cool Stuff Inc sitting in the foyer. I knew it was my Secret Santa gift. I pick it up and then the question came... "Did you order that?"

Remembering last year, I quickly answered "Yes!" which was met with a disbelieving look. She then repeated the question... "Did you really order that?" I relented. But then quickly tried to turn it around to no avail. She quickly absconded with the box and ran upstairs into the bedroom. She locked the door and when she reappeared there were two nicely wrapped gifts and a card.

Now they sit under the Christmas tree waiting... taunting... calling me...

But I must not give in to my precious... my lovely precious...

[edit] Whew! I made it and what a generous Santa I had. I got 7 Wonders w/ the 7 Wonders: Manneken Pis and Saboteur. Thank you Santa!

Excited to try this one out as I've been eyeing to get one of Alhambra's expansion over a year now... (only started with bg a year or so ago... )

Oh and by the way, I'm a first-time Secret Santa and I'm loving every minute of it!

This is the first year I registered for the Secret Santa and boy, did I luck out! Since November 14th I’ve gotten great messages from Santa and his Head Elf, Irma. And guess what? I got a message that said SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN!!!

Then from Irma,
Quote:
I hear Santa has informed you that one us elves will be in the Columbus area next week. Usually we don't tell your kind what we look like because we don't like to draw attention to ourselves. Once people realize we're in the room they start asking all types of questions. Worst was this one time at band camp, no .. no I, I shouldn’t tell you that one. Anyhow, the elf who will be in town next week will be wearing a green hat (what other color would he wear?) with a Jets logo on it. He said to call him Chris while at Fado's. He's afraid if you call him by his elvin name things could get U-G-L-Y.
Santa wanted me to pass along a message: He said he's sorry that he couldn't make the trip but with only two week left until the big ride he can't leave town.

As a person late to everything I was 45 minutes EARLY and even made the bartender keep an eye out for an elf masquerading as a Jets fan. Sure enough at 9 sharp Elf Chris appeared! Fun stuff! Apparently Elf Chris has a second job (C’mon Santa, give him a raise!) so was in town on business!

After a couple beers and hours of game discussion Elf Chris rolled out a bevy of packages! 4 in all!!

Each one had a "Do not open until *this date*" label, and I got to open the one marked 12-14-2010!

It was about 12:15 AM by the time we called it night - an Elf’s work is never done and Chris had an early meeting . I wished him a safe trip back to the North Pole and told him if he’s ever back in town to give me a shout and games will be played. Whoever I get next year has some pretty big elf shoes to fill!!

Below are the great gifts I got and when I opened them. It was great to open something up every few days!

UPDATE: 12-17-2010 12-20-2010 12-22-2010

Gift #1: 12-14-2010:
Felix: The Cat in the Sack -a fun little filler/game night starter I know will hit the table this holiday.

Gift #2: 12-17-2010:
Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries -Santa knew I really really really wanted this version set in his neck of the woods. A HUGE THANKS for this! This is going to be the placeholder photo!

Gift #3: 12-20-2010:
Archaeology: The Card Game - The little one I couldn't figure out. I guess I needed to DIG deeper into my wishlist to find this little gem of a filler! I played it at CABS and wanted it! Another one to bring to the table at Christmas! Thanks SS!!

Gift #4: 12-22-2010:
Pandemic: On the Brink - My final day of gifts brings the Pandemic expansion! I've heard good things about this so off I go to try to save the world again!

I just can't believe how generous and thoughtful my Secret Santa was - 4 great gifts!. And above all that, I got an extra gift -a new gamer friend from New York!

Awesome (not-so-)Secret Santa Chris is on the left. CHEERS!!

How my predictions played out:
12/17: Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries - CORRECT!
12/20: The smallest gift: I have no clue! This one is the most intriguing of all. All I can guess is maybe Tichu, a different card game, or promo cards for Power Grid or maybe Power Grid: The New Power Plant Cards? I can't wait to find out! - INCORRECT!
12/22: Pandemic: On the Brink. At the bar I guessed a Kosmos 2-player game based on the box size, but I think it's too thick for that. -CORRECT!

My Secret Santa Rocks! THANK YOU FOR A GREAT SECRET SANTA EXPERIENCE!
Merry Christmas Chris! All the best to you and your family in 2011!

I hadn't heard a peep from my Secret Santa and I must admit I was getting a bit concerned. However, I just got a package today from Fun Again and in it was 7 Wonders! Wooo Hooo! I must admit, I wasn't expecting that at all and I love it. Thanks a lot Secret Santa! I'll never doubt you again!

Thank you BGG Secret Santa!
Three games! Hansa Teutonica from my wishlist, one I really have been looking forward to trying! From the reviews I know I'll love it.

Lübeck also with a Hansa theme. I've heard good things about it and love the setting.
Das Labyrinth des Minotaurus, a dungeon crawler until now unknown to me but also with a great historic/mythological theme.
It will be fun trying something from two small publishers.
What a generous Santa!

Who is my Secret Santa? Lilygirl or Binraix? Maybe that would be too great a coincidence as we are in the same exchange on the FTL thread but possibly they know her/him.
Hey! Spill the beans!
