For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Soooo, I TRIED to wait until Christmas to open my package, but I just COULDN'T!!!

Opened it and found this Gem!

This is one of those games that "just got away" at my FLGS. I would always pick it up, look at it, and not buy it. It wasn't until it was sold out that I heard how fun it was.

I tried to always tell myself that it probably wasn't as good as everyone said...just to make myself feel better about not getting it. shake

Woah. I was wrong. What a fun little game! Easy to pick up, lots of choices. Can't wait to play it with my friends.

THANK YOU SANTA!!!!!

I had my family christmas today and decided that it was an appropriate time to open BGG secret santa as part of the day... I got a huge surprise. I couldn't believe my secret santa had been able to track this game down. I've been looking for it ever since I heard about it months ago.

Came home to be greeted by a really big box!

Inside was a paper from Boards & Bits, peanuts, 7 Wonders and Dixit!

Thanks for being so generous, BGG SS! Have a great Christmas! I can't wait to play both games over winter break!

Woot!

Dropped by my FLGS/OLGS (boardgamewarriors.com) last night to pick up some goodies and a nicely wrapped package was waiting for me. I'd advised my SS that my local games store was only a few blocks from my house and he/she could save on shipping and support a quality local merchant. I was unable to resist the temptation and opened it when I got home.

Inca Empire was one of the top items on my list. Thanks Secret Santa, I'm really excited to play this one!

Oh my! The FedEx delivery elves delivered Santa's package today just like he said they would. I opened the package immediately to make sure everything made it okay. I admit, I thought the gift might be wrapped, shucks I was wrong whistle. Well, there went my noble intentions. Anyway, I was blown away to see the newest and biggest hotness out there. 7 Wonders I didn't even think you could buy this yet. Wow! I am psyched to play this and hope to get the rules read and maybe even get a game in this very weekend!

Not only that my Santa went above and beyond and sent me:

Warhammer: Invasion – The Silent Forge

Really cool! I am really liking this game (though so far my wife has beat me every time surprise )

Thanks again Santa! You are so very generous!

Your biggest fan, David

I returned home from a business trip to find not one, but two boxes waiting for me. One game in gold gift wrap from Amazon, and a pair of games from CoolStuff (unwrapped, but I asked a friend to wrap them for me so as not to spoil the surprise).

I'm part of the BGG Secret Santa and the Dice Tower Secret Santa this year, and I'm not sure which gift is from which Santa. But they've both arrived and they're waiting under the tree for eight more days.

I'll change my entry once I open them up on Christmas.

Thanks Secret Santas!

Update: Looks like both my Secret Santas think alike. I opened my presents this morning to find two copies of Thunderstone, two copies of the For the Dwarf Promo one copy of the expansion Wrath of the Elements. Looks like it's going to be a very Thurderstoneful holiday for me.

Thanks Santas. I'm excited to try this game out.

Hey! This year Santa was very quick and fast! :-)

A couple of days ago I got this box landing right in front of my door (well... it was a postman who rang at the door, but you get the idea...).
I had some hopes to leave the box unopened till christhmas eve, but I did not consider how can two little kids be so insisting (does this word really exist in english? whistle). So yesterday evening, while outside was heavy snowing, I said "yes, you can open it!" and there they go: I had just the time to grab the camera and shot some pictures of the unboxing...

Just a couple of second to study the enemy...

...the time to find the spot...

..and we're ready to go!

Sigh... no survivors!

What's under that?

Let's have a look!

Found!

The first one! Pegasus Expansion! WOW!

And the second one! Charly, for the kids!

Thanks Santa!!!! :-)

Meery Christmas to you all!!!! :-D

Woooho!

I just received my gifts from my Secret Santa. They arrived yesterday, but as I was working, they went back to the post office and so I was like the first customer of the post office today to pick up the package.

The package came from the german online store www.spiele-offensive.de. My Secret Santa told me about the arrival of the package beforehand and also told me that I can open the package because he ordered gift wraps for the presents as well. But I didn't dare to open the package, because this year I really want to save the surprise for christmas eve and I was afraid that they might have forgotten the gift wraps or that the package included anything that would give away the surprise. So I asked my girlfriend Sarah to open the package and check it beforehand, and how right I was. They gift wrapped the items, but also included the invoice. So Sarah now knows what I'll get, and the invoice also revealed the true identity of my Secret Santa.

So I hereby give a million hugs and big fat thank you kiss to my not so Secret Santa:

Well, I had a clue that my Secret Santa was from Finland, because I watched my Flag counter on my profile when they sent out the targets.

Here's a picture of the gifts I got (and I will not open them until christmas eve and Sarah won't tell me what's inside).

I just want to thank Miika, you have been a really good Secret Santa with all your taunting, it really was a nice experience for me. I also want to thank the whole BGG-community, I've been here for a bit more than a year now and I before, I never would have believed that such great communities could exist on the internet!

Have a merry christmas!

EDIT:

Awesome, thank you so much Miika for 7 Wonders AND:

Already played a game of 7 Wonders with Sarah, and though we had to learn the expert 2 player rules for our first game, we both really liked it and Sarah won, which is a good thing ^^. I'll hopefully get a chance to play glen more tommorow. Thanks a lot again!

Santa was a man of few words this season--completely understandable given how busy he has been delivering games to geeks around the world. But his laconic nature made each message that I received even more exciting. I was particularly happy when he told me that he and Mrs. Claus enjoy playing this game together.

Although I wasn't at home to greet his sleigh (or his white truck) on Thursday, I was able to pick up a massive package at FedEx on Friday. When I got home, my wife and I hurriedly ripped open the box to find Tales of the Arabian Nights, a game that has been on my wish list for a very long time.

Although the seven-pound box won't be flying with us to my parents' house for Christmas, we very much look forward to hours of storytelling to begin the new year.

Thank you so much for your generosity, Santa! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

My Santa teased me a little bit, so I thought I'd give it back to him. Threatening to send me a copy of one of the worst "games" ever created (see my 1 ranked games for an explanation) is almost criminal.

My gift box arrived a few weeks ago, and I opened it immediately. It contained three fantastic games. I have wanted Peloponnes for a while now, so seeing this in the box was very exciting. However, there was more.

Santa also sent me a copy of Power Grid: France/Italy

And, a copy of Parade

I don't bother tracking games played on the Geek, and state this on my profile. But Santa apparently didn't bother reading that, because the note included with the games told me I had been naughty because I hadn't played any games lately. That trash talk along with Santa bugging me a couple of times ("Is it there yet?" and "Fed Ex tracking number says it arrived, did you get it?") led me to decide to make Santa pay a little. So I decided to wait just to make Santa squirm a little more.

I know this teasing paid off because I got a note from one of my local friends this week saying that my Santa had contacted him and wondered if I had received the games or not. Ha! I now know I have successfully taunted Santa by making him or her wait to know I got my presents.

But I really can't be mean to Santa any longer. I am thrilled with my gifts, and wish to say thanks. No more mind games, now it's time to play Parade. Or Power Grid. Or Peloponnes.

THANKS!!!

It has arrived! Thanks Santa, for getting me a game that really will get played. It should work really well as a two-player game with my wife, and my 10 year old daughter and 7 year old son will probably enjoy the game too. Why I didn't get this earlier I really can't understand, but I am very happy to own it now!

I also got Lost Cities. Now, this is a game I like quite a lot, but my wife despises. So, we'll see how much it will get played, but if I am lucky I can perhaps get my daughter into it. In any case, it was a nice added bonus.

And many thanks for the letter included, the personal touch really means a lot!

Edit: We tried Alhambra yesterday in the family and it was a huge hit! My oldest kids (7 and 10) loved it, and so did I and my wife. Now I need to get some expansions.

This week I got a beautiful Christmas Box delivered. I knew right away that it would be from my Secret Santa. I hadn't ordered anything, so I was happy right away. As we don't put any presents under our tree (we have Sinterklaas in the Netherlands who puts any presents in our shoes) I said to my wife "Great I don't have to wait till Christmas: I can unpack it right away!" Her reply was "No, you can't. I think you should wait at least to the start of the holidays" As anyone married will say if your wife says "I think that you should..." It means "You should do what I say or else..." Of course I'm bigger than that but decided to wait for the holidays... blush
But when I finally could unwrap it I found Power Struggle: a game I have wanted for a long time and now finally have in my collection. I'm reading the rules right now but wanted to take a break to thank my Secret Santa.

Thank you Secret Santa! I hope that you and all readers have a Merry Christmas!

2010 is ending on an epic note. I had pruned my wishlist (no really, I had!), including notes and suggestions on several games. However, one game was so overwhelming in size that I wanted to keep it in scope for the BGG Trade Manager, with absolutely no expectation of receiving it as a gift. I even wrote that in my wishlist comments for Twilight Imperium: "Secret Santa: This one is over the top. I have it up here for trade notification purposes, but there is NO expectation for this game!"

Late Tuesday night, there was a rustle at the door. My dog went ballistic, and when I peeked out through the sidelight I saw a HUGE shipping box. I casually tried to bring it in the house, but my wife's curiosity was already piqued. "What's in there?" she asked with a slight hint of exasperation in her voice.

"I don't know," I answered truthfully. "I'm involved in a couple of 'Secret Santa' game exchanges. I don't know what's in here." I suspected what might be inside, because it was a HUGE box after all. But that's not the same thing as knowing, right?

All week long, that box has towered over every other present under our Christmas tree. Could it be? Could it really be Twilight Imperium? I felt guilty for even considering the possibility, but the potential for it to be was thrilling. Almost to the point of not wanting to open the box, for fear that my rising hopes would be dashed.

Yeah, right. Like that was going to last.

Do you remember that TV commercial for Tootsie Roll Pops, where the boy takes a lollipop to a wise old owl and asks, "Mr. Owl, how many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?" The Owl begins to lick the lollipop, counting each lapping: "A-one, a-two, a-three..." It is at this point that the Owl loses all self control, and bites through the remaining hard candy to get at the chewy chocolate center. "Three," answers the Owl authoritatively.

Well, apparently "three" is also the number of days that I am capable of waiting before curiosity wins over anxiety. Last night I finally tore into that box. I excavated a metric ton of pink packing peanuts. And there, nestled in all of that persimmon polystyrene, was Twilight Imperium!

Thank you, Secret Santa! It looks like 2010 will end with epic battles for galactic domination, and backstabbing interstellar diplomacy. I can't wait to bring this game to the table -- and to see if it will fit! My next request for a present may be for a bigger table.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

My Secret Santa came through earlier this week when a package from Funagain showed up. Inside it was a wrapped game plus a $5 coupon plus the receipt indicating what game was nicely wrapped inside. Uhhhh. So much for the suspense, Funagain!

Anyway, thank you very much for the game, Santa! I have had an eye on this game for quite awhile and almost pulled the trigger on a German copy a while back, but decided to wait for the English version. Can't wait to unwrap the gift on Christmas!

LIFEBOATS!!! I traded this away years ago, as one of the main players in my gaming group absolutely Hated to play any negotiation games.

And not just that. .

Also enclosed were:

Small World: Cursed! and also Small World: Be Not Afraid...

And a total giveaway to his identity (beyond the return address and the fact that he'd emailed me shipping notification directly) was a copy of his book: The Dark Wing by Walter Hunt

Santa was obviously paying attention to my trades this year.

Last week I returned to work after a few days off to find a box from CoolStuffInc waiting for me.

Eagerly I ripped it open. I know I should have waited Santa, but being a frequent trader (as you know) and not wanting to miss out on any more great sales, I couldn't help myself.

The first thing I found in the box was a lovely new copy of Hansa Teutonica. Santa was obviously paying close attention. I used to own the original edition but traded it away just a month or so earlier as a part of a package to get a nice set of golf clubs, as I was thinking about taking it up again next year. I hadn't really wanted to include it in the trade, but it was the #1 want of my trading partner and so I decided to include it rather than risk not making the deal, with a mind to picking it up again later. Santa, being Santa, noticed this and took pity on me.

That alone made me a happy boy but there, buried in the packing peanuts (which were the starch kind, BTW - kudos to CSI for using biodegradable packing material), was another packet. I pulled it out to also find Revolution! The Palace, which I had been interested in trying since I first heard about it a year ago.

Not only that, but CSI had included a $5 GC too!

Thanks Santa! You did a great job!

I haven't actually seen the gift; the item was sent to a house in Boston, where my wife is staying for a few days. She opened the box and will be bringing it back to Israel.

So I know that I received Canal Mania. Thank you! I hope I can get my group to play it.

Yehuda

Edit: Got the game. Looks great. Thanks again.

I got these in the mail several agonizing weeks ago, but finally got to open Rory's Story Cubes as well as Key Largo.

Thanks Santa! These will go over very well with the youngster in the household!

I opened my gifts early this year. I know, I know.... Normally I wouldn't do that. But I wanted to play my game on Christmas Eve when all the family was there!

This was my first time participating in Secret Santa and I will do it again. I had a great time learning about a total stranger's gaming habits and finding the perfect gift for them. I also loved the generosity of my Secret Santa. Santa went all out! I got:

Summoner Wars: Phoenix Elves vs Tundra Orcs
Summoner Wars: Guild Dwarves vs Cave Goblins
Summoner Wars: Vanguards Faction Deck
Summoner Wars: Fallen Kingdom Faction Deck
And a very nice Summoner Wars board set so I don't have to use the paper one.

Very nice suprise because I didn't even know about this game. Played it once already and my wife and I love it! Thank you, thank you.

Then, two weeks later a nice suprise. Another package!

Forbidden Island
Small World: Be Not Afraid...
Small World: Tales and Legends

I wanted Forbidden Island so bad. It looked like a game I could play with my kids. And I was so excited for the Small World expansions that I completely outgeeked myself. I got a label maker and organized my copy of small world with all the expansions and then just sat and admired it.

Very generous santa! Thank you so much and Merry Christmas!
