For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

The new Looney Labs Back to the Future Card Game!

I love Chrononauts, the card game whose mechanics make up the bulk of the newly themed one, and I can only imagine the movie Tie-in makes it better, and easier to get more players to join in.

THANK YOU, SECRET SANTA!

After some delays, the postman rings the doorbell and hands me a large, but light box. Inside the box is lots of pink packaging nuts and a copy of Poseidon.

My Secret Santa originally tried to order the game from Germany, but the store failed to deliver. After a long wait, my Santa canceled the order and got the game from CoolStuff, which delivered it quickly.

It was my #1 wish, so while I'm not particularly surprised, I'm happy!

Hurray!

After my Secret Santa had some trouble with the first seller (the game was never sent or it got lost) a parcel from Magierspiele.de arrived today. "Die Tore der Welt" (World without End) was on my wish list for a long time but somehow I never bought it myself. Thanks Santa for your excellent choice. It was a nice surprise and will hit the table regularly. meeple

RWC2015: Can't wait for it to start.
mbmbmbmbmb
Waiting can be hard, especially when Santa does not tell you that although nothing arrived yet all is well and that I should learn to be more patient.

I know about myself that I'm not a patient guy, so I guessed maybe Santa was just learning me a lesson about patience.
But I lost faith, I still loved BGG, but I started to doubt if Santa actually existed or not.

But then, today when I got home I found a big box waiting for me on the table:

OMG!!!!
Santa does exist!!!

Opening the box I found:

But I could not open the presents (it said 6 presents inside on the largest present) yet, I had to wait for my kids to come home, they also have been looking forward to the Secret Santa Present.
When they got home they went straight to work:

What we found were many many presents, but most of them were empty. What? Well, the box was like a Dutch Sinterklaas Surprise (is my Santa Dutch? The box was posted in the Netherlands and the presents were wrapped in Sinterklaas-wrapping-paper). In some of them we (my kids) found zip-lock-bags and in the biggest present we found:

The Dutch version of Space Alert, a game I was curious about, had it on my wishlist for ages but was never sure I should get it (changed from a must-have to a maybe and back to must-have several times). Thank you Santa for telling me I should try this game!

But wait, I think I counted 5 presents.... Ha, the box has a false bottom, underneath an extra piece of cardboard I also found Small World: Grand Dames of Small World!!!

Hope to play Space Alert soon! My almost 4yo could not wait, he opened the game for me already:

In reflection: Why did you learn me to be patient when in Space Alert you should not be patient but fix everything within 10 minutes?

Thank you Santa!!!

Wow! I can't believe that after all this time, I'm not the only person posting today to this list! :-)

Santa did let me know before Christmas that there would be a delay because of some personal issues, and I hope that the arrival of my gifts mean that these are properly behind him now.

Because today at work my package arrived. I'd been having a rubbish day and this made me all happy again, so my work colleagues thank Santa also for stopping me being so grumpy!

Inside the box was this game, which has been on my wish list for a long time, but which I'd never actually bought, for some strange reason. I was very happy to receive this game.

But! It was hiding behind some other things!

Such as:

Amazing! Another game that I'd never got quite around to, and yet will be great for those times when we've 6 at the table and no time for a long and drawn out game. Thank you Santa!

And then this:

Splendid stuff. We play Settlers regularly still, and this made the gift very special indeed. Thank you Santa!

And so that I wouldn't get too jealous of the nice chocolate that they have in Germany (where Santa is apparently from... ), these were tucked in as well...

So, if you haven't got it already - thank you Santa! So worth the wait and made an otherwise non-descript February day into Christmas Day!

My Santa told me that he had underestimated the generosity of the BGG folks so there where much more and havier presents then expected and that a few were delayed, including mine.
So my shipment was a bit later. I almost got it first early in January but could not pick it up because the mail service messed around and it was not at the pickup point. In fact, nobody knew where it was. It was only 2 weeks later that it got returned because I did not pick it up shake (well, I tried like 4 times or so).
A second shipment attempt went through and I discovered a game that was pretty much Number 1 in my whishlist: Fresko (the edition including already 3 expansion modules).

But did Santa stop here?

No: I also got:

Kamisado

Thank you so much, Santa. This was more than expected and definitively worth the wait

Actually, I received my gift in January, 4th, but only now have the opportunity to share with you what awesome gift Secret Santa sent me.

First, I receive some strange little package. In this package I found beautiful handmade Christmas card and a small box.

Santa wishes me many new games in a New Year and warns me not to eat soap. What soap? Oh, lets look in the box:

Oh my... handmade soap with a Zombie Santa (or DEAD Moroz, I don't know) printing! It had so yummy orange aroma, and I really wanted to eat it. Thanks for warning, Zombie Santa!

And then, in a week or two the real gift box arrives:

Yes, it's a Starcraft. I am Blizzard games fan and this is a great game. And yes, minis, minis, minis...

My secret Santa sent me not just Tide of Iron: Days of the Fox expansion, but also Ra and Agricola: Gamers' Deck. I've just finished the scenarios from the Tide of Iron base game so Days of the Fox arrived just in time to keep the campaign going. Ra is a game that I've had on my radar for some time as its considered a classic and I'm trying to play every game in the top 100 at least once. And the Agricola gamer's deck should placate the complainers in my group who say that whoever gets the best cards wins automatically. I've read that this deck was well tested and created by hardcore Agricola fans so hopefully this will shut them up when I win next time.

Thanks secret Santa!

It took almost 2 months and a half, fighting through blizzards, traveling by ship (even reindeers need a ride sometimes), but today, after spending 6 to 7 hours traveling back home by car, I arrive and find a HUGE package waiting for me

I could now just say thanks, comment on what I got and finish my post but that would be not enough...

This is going to be a bit longer, but I really had to write it.

Before I only used the site to check on reviews and didn't think that there were more to it than a lot of foruns.

At the end of the year I was busy with a lot of stuff and didn't had the time to log in, that ended up giving more trouble to my Secret Santa than I wished to. SS had to come after me through his book and ask for help from a cousin to contact me.

That really impressed me, and that was when I started looking at BGG as more than "just another website".

I was just "A fresh Geek, with a profile white as the North Pole.", but after seeing all the trouble my SS had for me, I started looking better and seeing what a great community we have here, I know I still haven't made any significative contribution yet, but I hope to chance that

Secret Santa, thanks from making me stop being just another user and turning me into a real BGG member

Well, and now for the presents!!

I opened the box to find a lovely christmas card from Santa with penguins on it and wrote in brazilian portuguese and english!

Next to it a copy of Elves & Shelves, I never heard of this one before, but I'm starting to turn my attention to PnP games and it will be a great start

Elves & Shelves

After that I found a distant relative who was taking care of my gifts for me (one of my surnames is Coelho, which means rabbit).

Chaos Marauders!! I read some nice reviews about this one and it was going to my wishlist, but Santa was faster

Chaos Marauders (second edition)

Arcana !! It was one of the first boardgames that caught me attention when I saw it on a catalog, many months ago, I ended of forgetting about it until I unwrapped it today

Arcana

And the for the last, Chaos in the Old World, man, this one has also caught my attention from a long time, I can't wait to play it!!!

Chaos in the Old World

Well, I couldn't also say all that without giving the credit to the person responsible for all this, who is:

Just before Christmas I received a geekmail from my SS. She let me know that there were some production issues at the North Pole so my package may not make it on time. A few days after Christmas my family and I took off for a short vacation in Vermont. It just so happened that the day we would return would be my Birthday and wouldn't you know it when I got home there was a package waiting for me. Seeing as we just got home from vacation I needed to unpack the car and get things settled down at home before I could open the box.

When I finally got a chance to sit down and open the box I was surprised by the weight. The box was about 6 inches tall, 15 inches wide and 22 inches long. Upon opening the box I found out why it felt so heavy. There was a layer of packing peanuts along the top that was exactly 1 peanut deep. I would later find out there was exactly 1 peanut on the bottom too. That means 5.5 inches of gaming goodness in between!

My wife was on the sofa next to me watching as I pulled out the games. The first I pulled out was Category 5! I've been looking for a copy of this for some time now. The guys I play games with like quick little filler games and I thought this would fit in nicely. As it turns out I was right. Since bringing this game to lunch a few weeks ago it has been played no less than 3 days a week. This was an awsome selection by my SS!

After pulling out Cat 5 and explaining how the game plays to my wife I pulled out 2 more games. The first was Farfalia and the second was Abracadabra. Neither of these was on my wishlist and that's what I think makes SS all that much more exciting. I haven't heard of either of these games so it was awsome to see something my SS went out of her way to find.

After taking a few minutes to read up on these two games I dove back into the box and pulled out En Garde!. This was another game I had never heard of and thus an addition by my SS because she thought it would fit nicely into my collection. I have to agree this one will be a nice filler game for my group. They love to play BANG! The Bullet!.

I then went back into the box and pulled out Small World: Tales and Legends and Jericho. Small world is a game that I enjoy playing and Tales and Legends has been on my wishlist for some time. This was another excellent selection by my SS. Jericho however was not on my wishlist so I needed to read up on it a bit. I think this one will be a fun little filler for my game group or a game that my non gaming wife and young kids can play.

At this point I had pulled out 6 games from the box. As I went back into the package to pull out yet another game my wife asked me how in the world my SS fit all of this into one box and she couldn't believe I was going in for more. I again pulled out 2 games from the box Bohnanza and Mimic. Bohnanza was on my wishlist and was once again a great selection by my SS. I had played this for the first time a few months back and when the game was over I thought this would be a nice game to bring to family gatherings. It's a light game that anyone can learn in just a few minutes. Mimic on the other hand was not on my wishlist so once again my SS had gone out of her way to find a game that would fit well with my family and friends.

I then started reaching for the package again and as I started pulling out yet another game my wife asked me if I knew this person or if I was just one lucky dog. Seeing as this is SS and I have no idea who sent the package I had to go with being a lucky dog. I then pulled out Mona Lisa Mysteries which was another game not on my wishlist. That made 6 games from my SS that were not on my wishlist!

As I reached for the package yet one more time my wife said "Please tell me that's all. You have enough games already!" Being the lucky dog I am that was not the last game in the package. I then pulled out California which was a game on my wishlist. At this point I had pulled 10 games out of the package! I can't believe my SS sent along sooooo many games!

My wife would like to thank my SS for putting the new shelf space I created over the holiday break to some use. I think she was hoping that space would take longer to fill

I don't know what I did to deserve such an AWSOME SS this year. Thank you sooo much for the wonderful games Santa!

Here is a picture of all the games my Secret Santa sent.

You absolutely won't believe how generous my new Secret Santa was!

Picture this: I come home after a long meeting with some local small businesses where I've been trying to build partnerships downtown. I'm tired and overwhelmed with things to do, but I see a package (bigger than I expected!) waiting on our doorstep.

I get it inside and cut the tape, noting that it's from Boards and Bits. At the top layer is a note saying "From your NEW 2010 Secret Santa. I guess you have been nice." Under a layer of packing peanuts (our cat, Pangur Ban, has already claimed all of those as his prize) I find Ra. I already know a group of locals who will love it and I imagine it will get much play at a local coffeehouse. Under that I find The Republic of Rome. I've been looking forward to playing this one for quite some time because of my love for Roman history and for the specific mechanics utilized in this one. At this point, I'm already amazed at how generous my SS was. But there's more! I read down further into the box because I thought I felt something down there and pull out Merchants and Marauders! By this point, Pangur Ban is getting impatient and wants to play in the packing peanuts. Since I've been the recipient of so much generosity (3 games!), I pour out the packing peanuts for Pangur Ban to romp through. But to my surprise another game (!) comes out among the peanuts that Pangur Ban is happily attacking. Hidden in the side was For Sale!

Can you believe it? What an amazing Santa! Such magnificent generosity won't go unforgotten and I'm already planning to try to outdo this Santa next year...

THANK YOU.

My late, but very much appreciated, gift arrived from my Secret Santa - a fresh copy of Battlestar Galactica!

Thanks to some first class teasing back at the end of November I had some idea of what might be heading my way:

"Elves they where created by Santa
they rebelled
they evolved
they look and seem human
there are many copies
they have sent a present from Iguk.co.uk which may arrive soon
they have plan .. on what you might be doing on Christmas day"

It was thus with some disappointment that the goodies failed to turn up before Christmas and then with the approach of January I had written it off to 'lost in the snow'.

In mid-January I contacted IGUK, who promptly ignored my email (tut, tut). So when the gift arrived a few days before my birthday (early Feb) I was over the moon!

Thank you very much Santa! I'm not sure what happened, but I am delighted with the end result!

Updated April 30, 2011

So something happened to things at the North Pole but eventually a Santa came on strong and really stepped-up. The results were amazing!

The boys and I opened up our 8 pound box and inside were the following: Cash 'n Guns, Betrayal at the House on the Hill, and a game for the boys called Go Away Monster!

Here we see Bruce utilizing games for their intended purpose... as a stool.

Yesterday my friends came in from Ohio and we played a five player game of Cash 'n Guns. Actually, we played three games and loved every minute of it! People were laughing and role playing, it was a blast! We started with the basic game, moved on to the special powers rules, and finished with the full rules including the undercover cop.
Game #1

Steven is not to be trifled with.

Then, we played Betrayal. My least-gamer friend, justin, was the betrayer and he managed to kill all but of us with Zombies before my other friend, Greg, managed to lure the last zombie into a room and trapped it there. Again, a fun time was had by all.
Game #2

The other game, Go Away Monster!, is a game designed for kids 3+. I have played it with my son, Steve, four six times, and he has played it four times by himself as well. it's really great!

Go Away Monster!

So, in all, this is the lowdown. I understand Santa has a little something more in store for us as well. This was an awesome experience and I'll update you all when the SECOND(!!!) package arrives this Friday.

WOW!!!!!

So, our very generous Secret Santa really hit this one of of the park! We got another BIG box last week in the mail. Here is the UPDATE!

First, we can see the giant box of holiday goodness just after it has been opened and the festive contents arrayed about.

Next, we have Faith opening a lovely gift from Crabtree and Evelyn. Faith was very surprised and quite pleased.

When we had finished opening them as a family we had arrayed the following contents:

baconA copy of No Thanks! (A game from my wish list)

baconA bedtime storybook of Pacific Northwest animals for the boys.
baconAn assortment of delicious chocolates from Seattle. (Faith and I have already consumed these... the toffee and sea salt was our favorite.)
baconThe Crabtree and Evelyn gift bag for Faith
baconAn ILLINI Keychain.
baconA Buzz Lightyear for Steven (Buzz is off on a mission and not pictured)
baconBuzz's buddy, that roars and serves as a flashlight. (Let me tell you, that first night I heard "Roooooaaaarrr! We're you scared?" about 1000 times.)
baconAnd finally, the coup de grass, an amazing little mug with a piece of paper inside of it reading...

Can you believe it?!?!? A pre-order for Alien Frontiers! Ever since I heard Tom review it on the Dice Tower I have been obsessed with playing it.

So, all in all, that is a total of 5 games, 2 toys, and an assortment of generous giving to round things out. Future Santas would do well to observe the time, consideration, and generosity displayed by my Santa.

Thanks all, one more time, for a great experience. Merry Christmas! We look forward to participating next year!

Merry Christmas!

Steve

UPDATE! My game of Alien Frontiers arrived a couple of weeks ago. While I have not played it yet, I am going to try to convince my wife to give it a whirl tonight. Cross your fingers for me!

I am new to board gaming. So I have wanted to pick up some of the popular games that I have played and enjoyed. I hate going to game night and not having any games to offer.

I had a long wait for Santa in my first participation in the BGG-SS, but it was worth it.

My ESSS (Extra Special Secret Santa) made this the best Christmas in February ever.

Not only did he get my 2nd favorite board game of all, Puerto Rico. He also sent a copy of

Small World

A game I have only played once but really enjoyed and put near the very top of my wish list.

Thanks Santa. I never gave up hope and you proved, not only, that you are real but that you are real awesome.

Merry Christmas and Happy St. Patricks Day!!!!!!

Edit: Woo Hoo! I discovered how to imbed images as well. yea!

OMG!!!

My original Secret Santa was apparently genetically defective, so I was assigned a new one and wow, what a great Santa he (or she) is.

I received a pm stating:

"You shall be visited by 3 ghosts of Christmas shipments.

The First shall be of Games from the past.

The Second shall be of Games of the present.

And the Final shall be of games from the future."

The first game arrived today. Santa put a sticky note on the inner wrapping paper saying "Caution! Contents contain 'Space Potatoes' " Trying to guess what game might contain space potatoes, the only thing I could think of was MoV, but it couldn't be, right? So I searched BGG and this geeklist came up:

http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/22557/space-potatoes-the-l...

and the first entry was MoV and space potatoes. Well, with my curiosity totally piqued, I unwrapped the package and sure enough, Merchants of Venus! Incredible! I can't wait to play it

Next week the Games of the Present shipment will arrive. Even if it contains a lump of coal, I will consider myself a very happy geek!

Received a wonderful surprise for Christmas. Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game All gift wrapped and everything. But, that wasn't all; there was also another, smaller box. Within it was a small bag and out climbed: Hive: The Ladybug. Then still another small box containing: Space Alert: The New Frontier.

Thanks secret Santa 2.

This week, I'd just returned from a games convention in Denver. After a long week at work that extended itself into Friday evening, I finally got the time to meet the fellow who'd been watching my house during my trip. A package from Séamus, my Latent Leprechaun, was finally in my grasp!

Séamus, you've done well indeed. I had no idea which game would be 'whispering' to me. I hoped it wouldn't turn out to be White Moon, which I'd finally seen (and snagged) during my trip. It wasn't!

Enter Palace Whisperings. I hadn't heard of this one and I'm looking forward to trying it out. I think it will fit in well with my group, because we already play a few other palace themed games.

Next, Alvin and Dexter. This is another great choice, as I'd just given a copy of this to my brother's family but hadn't had the chance to play it with them. I'm a TtR fan, so this will fit right in.

Finally, 20th Century, a title which was about to become very high on my wishlist. I'd been on the lookout for this one at Genghis Con but none of the dealers had it. I had also missed out on its demo event. This is the game with which I am most pleased!

Thank you Séamus! You're the best!

-Chris

to ship my gift after the new year, and after a long, restless wait, it finally got here! Thank you for the gifts, though I'm in no position to apologize for the awfully slow pace of continental shipping.

My current inclination is to refashion the Splice Pirateology Card Game cards into Scallywags cards, but I'm open to other ideas!

I've never heard of Gypsy Witch cards, believe it or not. I didn't think there was a cartomancy tradition in America beyond Tarot and the other eclectic "oracle" or "spirit" deck sorts of cards. It's a nice addition to my cartomancy collection which already includes four different Tarot decks and a Hungarian gypsy deck (and a few copies of the Decktet, if you wish to include that).

The "Cribcard"s are really neat. They're scoring references for Cribbage. Cribbage was a big thing back when I was in high school, and even though I could figure out the game flow from watching my friends, I couldn't figure out the scoring (since they didn't play with a board and pegs).

And here I am, a couple of months late to the party.

My super nice Secret Santa ordered my present in the beginning of December, but it seems the online store (philibert) lost or sent to wrong adresses several packages, so I only got mine last friday. My SS and Octavian worked on making sure I'ld get my presents and they were great in doing it. Thank you both.

Anyway here's I got from

Awesome, Annick. I love Hive and First Train is one great game, I'll try to play both tonight.

Santa was late this year, but he/she still was awesome!

Update!
And I got another game Annick sent me for keeping me busy while the package (that ended up showing up first) didn't arrive.

Thank you! A dutch game (and themed) from a dutch Santa is a great present.
