This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squadâ„¢ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.

Games to thrift just for the components Speaking of parts, here are a list where the games may not be great, but the bits sure are. There are many great ideas for repurposing thrifted bits here. Thrift store games you buy just for the components

I took my 1st networking exam, and figured I owe'd myself for staying in and studying hard all week. Big expensive fancy dinner??? Nah, I'll buy a few tacos and hit the Thrift store instead.
Not a game I want for my collection, but what the heck, it's only 80 cents. complete and in decent condition. Goodwill.
I maintain this is a fine, and underrated game deserving of a Rating of 6.00 or better, but I'll be the first to admit it's not for everyone. Too bad about the missing red die...
Edit: Someone a few pages back looted one of these at their local thrift shops and it was missing one of the movement cards, as I recall. You may be able to work a deal out with them.
Totally agree about it being underrated, I thrifted its reimplemented version Mission Command - Air last week and it's a bloody fun game. With quite a bit of tactical thought and some double guessing when you try to figure out an opponent's moves.
Because of your post Ethan, I tried a game and you're right. I've always assumed that this game was just like Mission Command Air. I was pleasantly suprised that the weaponry system was expanded, the inclusion of flares, and the board was a bit different (along with advanced rules). Definitely a nice game worthy of a 6.5 at least.
Ok, so this one intrigued me. Couldn't pass it by and it might go into the collection, as it's complete and everything is in excellent condition (one small dish on a box-top corner). Anxious to try a game of it.
Thanks for the offer Dave, but when we get together I'm sure we have better games to play than this one. I'll be sticking this game in the family stack. Played it once last night, I love how they use the marbles in the Race Spinner to resolve races!!
Someone needs to rerelease this for those who watch the Amazing Race TV show.
I saw 2 games in these little lunchpails, both by Fundex. Popped open the first one and it was torn apart inside (although it did have a little plastic ant in it) so I put it back. Opened the lunch pail on this game, and the insert was still included and everything looked really nice. Got it home to inventory, and one recipe card is torn up and one of the wands is broken, however everything else is in great condition.
80 cents (which is remarkable, since the torn apart game was 2x that much).
Yeah, you're right Dave, those are spoons. Never even noticed the concave surface on top.
I'm missing the "Oatmeal Raisin Cookie" recipe, but I'm not sure if I care to complete this one or not. Part of me wants to give this to a youth organization, problem is for the age range that would be interested in playing, I can see why the spoons break so easily. hmmmm......
several $5 new @ local discount store... I paid $20 +S&H for my first set. Our niece picked us up 3 more @ this discount store. Great game with a great theme (perfect for pirate's game night)

8th Edition, I think this is the last edition of the original game as it has a 1985 copyright, end of the line year for the original Dawson run. As a bonus, I can take a picture or two for as there are none of this edition. Edit: $2.99 Savers
Here's a 1985 era question that wouldn't work today: Name the food that you most wish could be sugar free. Top answer: Ice cream.
Then I saw a question name a specific meat you buy smoked, which brings to mind this hilarious clip from the British version. Check out the reaction of the family in the middle of the clip.
Rumors I've heard are that the guy's headphones weren't working quite right and he heard the first contestant's answer of 'chicken' to one of the questions get a huge response.
Only problem...he didn't know which question it was for, so he decided to just answer 'turkey' for everything until he figured out which one it was.
Edition kind of like this one, but blue, from 1978, that also doesn't seem to have a picture. Complete and looks to be barely played. 10 cents garage sale. Still has $2.27 price tag from Wal-Mart.
$3.99 missing one ship and the flag. Might try to replace the ships with some of the smaller ships from the game pirates at oceans edge packs since they're only $2 at target.
Nothing exciting to be found today, but I'll take this as a consolation prize, since I didn't already have a copy. Still taped shut, haven't inventoried it yet. $2.92 at Ohio Thrift.
Spotted a Hide & Seek Safari wand lying loose, but didn't see any of the other bits.
I was mildly tempted by a copy of Golf, the Game for the sweet painted minis, but I already have like 3 other golf games that never get played.
Is there a geek list for games people have thrifted multiple times? I was looking over some of my games, and I have 3 or more copies of Battleball and 1313 Dead End Drive, but looking through the lists there are some people who seem to pick up a copy of Survive: Escape from Atlantis! every week. Might make for an interesting list.
Been out of town for the past week and come back to 24 pages of finds for this week's list. Never realized how long it takes to go thru so many pages since I usually see it daily.
Impressive week - might be more war games listed this week than any other week that I can recall in recent times.
So my wife and I were at the local Antique Market today jst checking it out since we haven't been there in a while. While walking around I saw a copy of Star Wars: Epic Duels in shrink (though the shrink was torn in a couple of areas).
I thought "maybe I'll get it for a deal" knowing it can be sold for around 80 to 100 on EBay. Hoping that the price was going to be 20 or 30 dollars.
When I checked the price and saw 199 dollars I just laughed and shook my head (as I always do when I am at antique stores).
I often wonder where these dealers come up with prices. S/he likely picked up this game for a couple bucks at a garage sale and is trying to offload it for an insane amount of money. I would give them a break if they were going to sell it for 100 but 2x what it is actually worth.
Oh and I'll give you a hint that is unrelated to board games. You know those old box cameras that look really cool and likely pretty old - don't pay more than 5 dollars for one of those - there are only a handful worth more than that. They definitely are not worth the 20 to 50 dollars that dealers try to sell them for. Just wanted to get that off my chest
