As many of you know, I like to game with my mother. She shies away from games that have a "strange theme." Unfortunately, her definition of a strange theme includes anything with magic or fantasy or even science fiction.

So I was wondering, what do BGGers consider strange-themed games?

Please add a game you think has a strange theme!

"Players play either as a novice, or as the Abbess or Prioress. The Novices move in secret and avoid being seen or heard by the Abbess or Prioress. The goal is to make it to the location on the board where the novice can get her "secret wish" and return to their room without being detected. All of the novices move in secret by marking their movement and locations on hidden sheets. The Abbess and Prioress move on regulated paths around the board, but can diverge and chase down novices that they see or hear. The player or players who complete their secret wishes and return to their rooms win, or the Abbess and Prioress win if they catch a certain number of novices."

A space war inside the body of a god.(?!)

Quote:
Amtik the god had a problem. The universe was internal to his 400,000km long self. He was "god" to the universes' inhabitants. Unfortunately, only the Holy Band truly believed in and worshipped Amtik. The unruly Sunthrowers believed in Amtik's existence, however, they also believed that "life was not an end, but a by-product of systems design". Amtik was in danger! The Sunthrowers were hurling stars at his universe sensor ducts. The Holy Band wanted his divine intervention. A sun in the ducts would dissipate poor Amtik and free his creations. While the Holy Band mightily struggled to believe and triumph, Amtik might even get bored and "turn-off" his universe - is a puzzlement.

Another 1:1 scale miniatures game, this one about one-inch tall invaders from space. Seems their original scouting mission landed on a 40K table, and the rigid postures of the planets "inhabitants" convinced them the planet would be easily conquered. Now they've divided into factions: one wants to return with better weapons, the other wants nothing to do with war against a whole planet of giants.

I'm not sure that this game can properly be said to have a "theme"... but essentially, it is a game whose rules consist entirely of rules about how to make more rules, and the 'game' is to use the rule-making rules so as to make rules to build a game. Or... something other than a game. Whatever you want, really.

If that sounds like fun to you (and it does to me), then you may have a promising career in law ahead of you.
