Jenks' Labour of Love - A component-only picture of each of the top 500 games. [IMAGE HEAVY]

Welcome! - Header updated for 2016!!!
Thanks for stopping by. Since early 2011 I have been on a crusade, and would love for you to join me.
When I want to check out a game, I go to its BGG page. I'll read a review or two, and then take a look at the components in the image gallery. The problem is that the galleries are swamped with pictures that, in a lot of cases, are more decorative than useful. The ability to view just 'game' related pictures is all well and good, but it is a real pain in the arse to find a picture showing all the components of a game in an unmodified way. This is especially true with games that have expansions - the Dominion gallery, for example is full of pictures of clever ways of storing cards from the umpteen expansions.
This geeklist. I have trawled through every picture in the top 500ish game galleries (about 13 billion pictures) and picked out the one that I feel best represents the game's components in their pure, unaltered, unexpanded form. For a lot of the games, someone has helpfully added a picture of the game 'unboxed' with the components laid out for the sole purpose of showing off the components; I have used these where suitable. In the case where these are not available (surprisingly often given people's propensity to upload repeated images to galleries for a quick buck) I have picked a shot of the game set up to play or in play, but which seems to capture the components as well as possible.
As I have gone through, I have been torn with some of the pictures I have chosen. The intent was to have shots of the components, and I have kept faithful to that. There were times, however, that I used shots of the game in its initial setup (where appropriate) as that gave a good feeling for the game. During the time it has taken me to compile this list, the BGG admins have announced the introduction of a Picture Tzar to select the best images for individual games. The pictures here could all be picked, along with the pictures best depicting actual gameplay. To that end, I am maintaining my efforts to depict only the components as best I can.
I have not played anywhere near all the games in the top 500. If I have played 10% I would be surprised. This means that I don't know what should be in the box of most of the games, and I have had to use a bit of deduction (and rely on well subtitled pictures) to come up with what I believe to be the best picture.
Please tell me if I have got something wrong! I will not be offended. If I have a picture which includes components from an expansion, or a picture that has missed off any components, then please let me know. Ideally, point me in the direction of a better picture to use.
If there is a picture that you don't think is very good, or doesn't do a game justice, then please let me know of a better one. For games without decent shots of all the components, consider taking one and uploading it. Bearing in mind the amount of crap that does get past the geekmodders, a caption along the lines of "Shows all the components - no other picture in the gallery does" should get through with no problems.
We all have to have hopes and dreams. Mine is that this will firstly become a resource that people will find useful and use, and secondly that there might be a change in the layout of the image gallery on each game's page to lead with a picture like this showing all the components; apart possibly from the box cover this is the most important image in a gallery. If you like where I am going with this, consider throwing a thumb my way. Thanks for reading and thank you to all those whose pictures appear here - I think I remembered to thumb most of the pictures I used...
Observations and rants
As you might be able to imagine, there were certain aspects of this little quest that irked me so. I shall list a few here, if only to get them off my chest.
1. There are far too many 'unboxing' photos. Oooh, look at me, I have a shiny new game. Here's a photo that shows you 1/4 of a board, some playing pieces indistinguishable from each other due to the glare of the baggie they are in, and one sheet of cardboard that I haven't punched and you won't be able to differentiate where the cut lines are anyway.
2. There are surprisingly few games with a really good shot of the components, out of the box, out of shrink and punched. And laid out nicely. Please, BGGers, rectify this. but when you do, have the photo with the bord unfolded!
3. Irrespective of the rules for uploading pictures of every mini and every card in a CCG, people still do. Seriously. 700+ pictures for Magic: The Gathering?
4. Moves are afoot to have 'featured' photos on ech game's page. There should also be a separate area for 'crap' photos, where the majority of photos that inexplicably got past geekmod can go to to die.
5. Last, and by no means least are those people who are determined to take pictures of every single game component from a dozen differnt angles and submit them all. And the geekmodder that lets them through. One game had two pictures submitted by the same person, two years apart - they were absoultely identical.
If you can't empathize with these points, spend the next few weeks of your life looking through the galleries trying to find something specific, and you too can feel my pain.
Helper Hall of Fame:
There are a few users without whose contributions this list would be in a far poorer state than it is now. They have either provided me with numerous photos, some taken specifically for this list, or otherwise they have done some of the hard work and trawled through the galleries themselves looking for pictures. Small print and Edits
I submitted this list with 250 entries on. I intend to continue adding to the list until I get to at least 500, and then add games as they break into the top 500. I also intend to add pictures of random games outside the top 500 that interest me, as this originally started out as a resource for me. I will add any major edits here.
EDIT 1 - Half of me desperately doesn't want this to degenerate into pictures of all the different versions for the games, but the other half would like to do as good a job as I can. As a compromise, I think I will try to stick with my original pictures, unless someone comes up with a better one, and people can put pictures of the versions in as comments if they want to.
EDIT 2 - I really should have made this clearer from the start. I am going to add to this in dribs and drabs. It is far easier for me to add a whole bunch of games with the generic text "[imageid=large]" and then go through later and update the pictures - for this reason you will see plenty of seemingly unfinished items - it is not because I am stuck, but that I have not gotten round to it
April 2014 - I have just added some 70+ games to the list. I would like to try to stay a little more on top of this list rather than lose a whole afternoon to it every once in a while. To that end, if you happen to have a picture of a game that isn't here, please just send it straight through to me, and I will try to add it there and then. Thanks for the continued support.
