This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.

Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our King Belial I.

Weird coincidence that you asked this, because I'm currently making an oversized, quilted version to go with my other "oversized" games (backgammon, chess, checkers, etc). It is an awesome abstract game though.
Something along the lines of this one I found in the gallery.
In the meantime of the 3 above finds, a sour-looking lady was looking at the jigsaw puzzles and putting several in her cart. She was blocking the middle of the game/puzzle shelves but I worked around her, figuring she would move along the shelf at a normal pace.
But instead, her husband came over, and she proceeded to have some long jigsaw-related discussion with him, all the while she and her cart blocked the same section of the shelves. I exhausted looking everywhere else, then came around to where I could see past them onto the shelves I hadn't checked yet. She finally moved forward a bit, and I saw this title come into view and quickly grabbed it. She gave me a quick dirty look. No ma'am, I didn't take a jigsaw puzzle.
The box was in wonderful shape, raising my hopes, and I opened it up to see that the control marker counters were unpunched, as I had guessed. However, the fleets and armies were punched, and if my two quick counts were correct it is missing one fleet counter!!! After much debate I decided to take it anyway.
Some of you guys are way too nice. I have no patience with people blocking aisles and getting in my way. I would have been nice about it (with excuse me's and such - I am Canadian) but I would have got right in there.
1.99 at value village. I actually got two of these, but the one pictured was the most embarrassing to buy. Scored some yellow and blue dice. Probably re-purpose the boards and boxes as well.
3.99 at goodwill. I was pretty excited to find this. It's a game that I've wanted to find since I started thrifting but never came across. I've only been back into the hobby for a couple of weeks, and there is was.
I'm still hoping to come across a vintage Ravensburger copy someday (something about that little blue triangle in the corner just makes me so happy) but in the mean time, this Milton Bradley version will do famously.
I found this little nugget of joy at the Family Thrift store for .99!!! I will be giving it to some of my gamer friends...they have a three year old daughter. We are trying to introduce her to games and this may be a good starting point. Complete and minty!!!!
This was taped like crazy. Was hopeful it was complete. It wasn't, missing 1 green peg, 1 long green road, and 1 short green road. $1.99 at Thrift Store.
I've plenty of spare army bits too. Like basic Risk, the number isn't THAT important as there are more bits than you need for playing. The bigger pieces merely represent multiples of 5 or 10 armies.
This isn't the exact game I found. I found one called "Lego Create It". It looks alot like this box except it is yellow and the back of the box it says made in UK. Anyone know exactly what I have? Bought it at Family Thrift Center for 1.99. It came in a bag with a craft toy called "Draw Like a Pro", which was still sealed.
I bought this to resell. I don't have kids and this just isn't my type of game...imagine that!!!
I bought this at Goodwill for .99 I know it's monopoly...but this is a nice version of it with nice wooden hotels and houses. Very good condition and complete. A little kid wanted it and his father joked with me at the checkout about it.
I picked this up at the Goodwill as well. I have the 1976 Avalon Hill version. Looks like it was never played with. It has all the plastic markers still on their tree..they were never twisted off!!! Looks to be complete. I know this game is rated high here but it just doesn't look like my type of game. I may trade this one.
Found this at an impromptu rummage sale type thing that just seemed to pop up today at lunch time near the GW outlet. Was marked $5 offered $3 and she accepted. Open with lots of shelf wear, but cards are sealed.
$2, VV Found it in the toys section, seems to be fun, plus I'm a sucker for soccer games.
EDIT. Looked over it this morning, complete and in fine shape, everything works, I didn't realise that the field players are made of pewter, that is too cool, this is definately going to get a lot of play.
$2, VV Spotted this on the shelf as I turned the corner, made a quick snag remembering that this fetches a pretty penny, looks complete, box is a bit beat up
EDIT: Complete, expect for two red hotel entrance markers, the white special die and 2 player pawns
I never even heard of it until these lists. Seems to be like a crappy monopoly style game, with awesome goodies. It may get some play, but likely will go straight to ebait.

Yeah, I'm sure if I played it again today I would hate it. Still doesn't stop me from want a copy for nostalgia's sake.

Don't let it fool you. I passed a few of these in my early thifting career because of that same reason. They sell for $50.00+ in case you play it and find it is not for you.
The numbers 184, 216, 448 and 586 are the winning tickets in last week's Thrifty Lottery. Congratulations go to hezkezl, lesulm1, laiernie and braino. They are the winners of one shiny coin each. The winnings have been added as tips to the corresponding listed items on last week's list.
This week there's another Thrifty Lottery with 3 or 4 coins up for grabs. You can find the details and previous results here: The Thrifty Lottery - Outline & Results
This is an early notification for the Thrift State only... My understanding is that sometime this month, the new boardgame flat rate boxes will get posted to the USPS.com website.
Cool. looking forward to those. Do you know if they are flat rate boxes and if so were they medium flat rate or large flat rate? Or are they just regular priority (based on weight/distance)?
Large flat rate - it's all based on volume. The box will be approximately equal to the same volume (slightly more) than a standard large flat rate box.
Main thing to remember - if it fits it ships.
So if you can come up with a box that works and you are shipping close, then it may be cheaper to not use the flat rate, but if either you can't come up with a box or its heavy, or going far, then teh flat rate will be the better deal most likely.

Unfortunately, that is no longer true for their flat rate envelopes. Now it must be 3/4th of an inch or less to use them I really wish they would change that back..so many RPG books fit in them but a lot are more than 3/4ths of an inch in thickness

It appears the situation is under control. However, we must be ever vigilant.
Stewing kitties? I think not! Way to safely defuse (for us) the situation...
