This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™, the Tape Monkeys™, and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.

Went out to Jo Anns to get some glass bead to use as markers for PnP and picked this up new in shrink for just $5. Knizia.
Also, got 40% off a mini miter box at Jo Anns so I am going to try cutting up some dowel rods and square sticks for some wood bits. Any recommended dyes for DIY wooden cubes?

The people on the Do-It-Yourself forums recommended Caseys Wood Products, and I went through them. They have lots of sizes of discs, and cubes as small as 1/2". Small parts are $0.10 each, cheaper in bulk.
Don't use balsa - it's almost as bad as foam for lack of durability. Bass wood works great and is very durable. Regular old hardware store dowels are much harder, and harder to cut, but if you have a sharp saw and a mitre box it should work fine. I'd suggest you make some kind of jig or clamp setup so they don't move around while you're sawing.

Wow, I might forgo disc and cube making with the miter box.

For short cylindrical pieces I might need to do some work. Thanks for the tip.
I am looking at bought cubes, canisters (pawn/commodity/marker), thimbles (pawn/commodity/marker), discs and dowels (for cylinders).

Getting so dry around here I'm trolling eBay for deals. Somebody put up 200 euro games on three day auctions about 5 minutes apart, and I thought I might get some bargains. I ended up with 13 games for $213 + $40 shipping.

In shrink for $9.50. Had to buy it because of the name ...
Surprised to find this at GW the other day. I thought to myself, "Wow! Maybe somebody unloaded a Euro collection at GW!" I carefully searched the store to no avail. It was just a random Carcassonne, but I'll happily take that for $1. The box has a little shelfwear but is fine. Strangely, it had 4 extra green meeples and was missing one of the yellow meeples. I have since contacted the esteemed poster of this week's thrift find list for a replacement meeple and he is sending me one. The other strange thing is there were none of the larger sized meeples, only the regular sized ones. Is that normal for one of the editions?

Larger ones (called fatties in my group) are part of one of the more common expansions.
Don't quote me on this, but I think the Big Meeples come with the Inns & Cathedrals expansion. I bought my Carc with River I included, then added River II and I&C, and those are the only expansions I have (or plan to have) and my set has some of the big meeples.

Um Reifenbreite for $26. A little steep but given historical prices and it's position on my want list, I snapped it up.

I'm dutch, and this is in shrink, so a no-brainer for $10.50

Snagged this one for $26. Not as much of a bargain, but I wanted to give ekimmel his opportunity ...
Mirror shatters in formless reflections of matter. Glass hand dissolving in ice petal flowers revolving. Lady in velvet, recedes in the nights of good-bye. Shall we go , you and I while we can; through, the transitive nightfall of diamonds?
$1.00 at our local church's "Strawberry Festival". Looks like a fun way to pass a few minutes. My 10 year old played it about a dozen times after we got back. Now, if I could just fogure out how to get in back in the box...

My wife and I have been playing this a lot lately as a 2 player game. She finally beat me last night when she used the magic temple (which allows the person with a hunter meeple on it to be the only person to score a field) to steal a 24 point field from me. And yes she did it properly - it wasn't connected but only need one tile to connect them. It was a ruthless blow but I had been telling her she has to play more ruthless to win.

Thumb for a grail find and a tip for the sealed cards. Is it the Gamette (pictured)?
I don't know why I like this game so much, but I do. I need to get my PnP back out.
One of my grail finds too. In fact, I am hoping someone will send me this on the "Thrifting For You" geeklist. So if you decide you don't want it, KIT,

I thrifted the Avalon Hill edition some years back, which has the fugliest cover ever...

Thank you so much for all the information and help, everyone! I'll try to use these skills to check earlier and more often. I went to my GW again today, but nothing new except a far from complete Nightmare board game. But I'll keep the search up! I love the hunt.

Does anyone know if Costco still sells Bicycle Playing Cards anymore? I am looking to buy a couple twelve packs and heard they no longer carry them at about $14 a dozen...
Within the past few weeks I've seen them mixed in with books at Costco. I don't see them at all online, though.
I guess the answer to my question is - Find someone local who had a Costco membership and beg them to take me there...
I just saw some batches of the packs of cards at my Denver Costco. They were on the shelves BELOW the books and didn't have a spot of honor up top, but they did have some. They might be selling the last of their stock if so.
