Let me count the ways. Big boxes, little boxes, boxes with fancy latches, boxes with large compartments, everything a slightly (?) OCD gamer needs to keep the bits organized and ready for play (remember, the more time spent setting up and putting away, the less time spent playing).

Edit: Changed sort order to alphabetical for easier reference.

Here's my solution:

It includes a plastic folder double-sided taped to the underside, which neatly holds the boards, rules and scorepad too.

I copied this setup exactly. Everything fits great, including the animeeples. No sleeved cards though, I'm not sure those would fit.

I had to modify (I cut a few dividers out and superglued a few in) a medium sized plano box but I managed to get all the bits into it as well as being able to still close the box.
The best part is that the box has curved insides so I don't need to fish around with my giant fingers for those tiny pieces, I just slide them up the sides.

This is our nifty storage solution.

Here the tray with all resources and rooms is in the lid. It goes on top of the cards, and then you can close it.

Another photo of my Plano use (from 2005 - shows how long I've been using them.) This is a larger Plano (3650) holding the bits in the base game:

(I used hanging file folders as the stock to make the tuckboxes shown in the image as I thought the colour went well with the game.)

Here is my solution - a Plano 5231 box.

The top layer:

all the non-gate/non-monster tokens for AH, DH, KiY, KH, IH, and LatT grouped by expansion, as well as some FFG plastic tokens.

**Update: I have since added the tokens from Arkham Horror: Miskatonic Horror Expansion as well as Arkham Horror: The Curse of the Dark Pharaoh (Revised Edition)**

The bottom layer:

all the monster tokens for AH, DH, KiY, KH, BGotW, and IH grouped by expansion. It also includes all the gate/rift tokens for AH, DH, KH, and LatT grouped by expansion.

**Update: I have re-organized the bottom layer as such: 1, all monster tokens are now grouped by type (normal, hex, mask, spawn, hex/mask); 2, I have made the Arkham Horror: The Lurker at the Threshold Expansion gate tokens the default, and put the remaining gate tokens in their own slot; and 3, I have separated the investigators by big box expansion.**

I've found the Plano 3600 to be the perfect storage solution for the Arkham Horror base game. With a little modification, it fits with the retail insert in the box, giving you a great mixed storage solution.

Here are the contents of Arkham Horror in the 3600.

With a little cutting, you can fit the 3600 in with the retail insert for this great storage solution.

You simply need to cut off the entire "tray" section of the insert, including the wall or side of the card storage part that faces the 3600.

Here, you can see the side of the card storage area having been cut off to allow room for the 3600 to fit in. When storing, simply put the 3600 in first and then place the card tray in on top. It will overlap very slightly.

As you can see, a super fit! Almost like they designed it that way I highly recommend the Plano 3600 for Arkham Horror as a result. One of the better implementations I've had with a Plano.

I used a Plano 2-3730 for the base game (I only have the base game so far) and it was all I could find at Walmart. But lots of room for expansion.

I do plan to move to the 3602 and 3500 as I get more expansions.

I've found that a Plano 3600 perfectly takes care of storing all the contents of Cadwallon: City of Thieves. In fact, it does a better job than with most games, as there aren't too many different varieties of components for this game, allowing for some really nice logical storage setups.

Here's how I have mine. Notice the gangs, with bases stored underneath as appropriate per gang, etc.

Here's the 3600 in the retail box. As usual, the 3600 fits easily into Fantasy Flight's big boxes. I will be making and using tuck boxes for this game soon, I hope (after a few other projects!).

it's not a bad thought. most of the pieces in each color are houses though, so it's not too difficult to root around to find a tower ()cylindrical piece). One could sort them that way though.

Don't throw away the box to a game--put it on the parts list, or somehow offer it to other gamers. Last year on the way home from a con, one of my gaming buddies closed the trunk of his car and accidentally crushed the box of a new game he'd just bought. The game was fine, but the box was toast. He'd have loved to have a replacement. I'd say the box is one of the first parts of a game to wear out. I've got another game where the game's OK, but the box has sustained water damage and is warped. In fact, I've got another game (came from ebay) that has some kind of smoke damage to the box, but is OK inside. I'm thinking there are many people who'd welcome a replacement box. And I've used extra game boxes to store other gaming stuff. So please, think about passing them on instead of trashing them. They're a finite and cherished resource.

This is the storage solution I use. This is not a standard plano. It's called a "bead box" or a variety of other things. It's available at Michael's and other crafts stores. It literally has about 15 variations only in name.

This box is specific to certain games. It works in Caylus because theirs no other components that need sorting. You can tell you've found this box because of the 2 odd ball sectors at the bottom of the picture. This box is super tall, so again it works with caylus, but is not viable for other games that have cards etc.

I think you might be able to double up on some of the armies.

BTW How pissed am I that I spent all the time painting those cultist and their stars are still breaking off. What crap.

My cultist flags are still intact but I don't think they will last a whole lot longer. I saw somebody use push pins and stickers to re-create Warhammer chaos banners which looked pretty good.

The five player fits nicely in the box with the insert removed. I also have a revised set of tuckboxes waiting on permission to post.

I plan to believe me! I just want to get a few games under my belt and expand my gaming group a bit for the full 5.

I've already prepared another Plano for the Horned Rat in the interim - plenty of room for another Plano in the box.

Will try to squeeze the new cards in the deck boxes I already have - if not, I'll have to grab a few more.

Will put the game on my Christmas list!

Wow, very nice. I clicked through to the images and saw not only a very detailed writeup, but image files for the labels for the base game, expansion #1, expansion #2, and expansion #3!

Time to order some more 3449s...

many of the ones I posted here were for this same box I think. Have you found that when you're digging around through the compartments, the wall sections often come apart? That's the problem I've been having with them. Or at least they're so loose that they shift up and the contents of the two compartments mix. But, I still like it better than having piles of bits next to the game board!

I have found that most glues work very poorly on the plastic that Plano boxes are made from. The best method I have found is to heat up a flat bladed screwdriver and actually melt the top of the divider to the top of the rail it slides in to. This was suggested to me by a rep at Plano after I called them asking for a solution to dividers coming out in their boxes with non locking dividers. It works great, as long as you dont think you will be moving the dividers around in the future.

That's a great idea. I never would have thought of that. Since I really doubt that the boxes will be used for any other game, or purpose for that matter, maybe I will give this a try on the few loose dividers that I have.

I have a snack-sized bag for the player's stuff plus dice, and a separate one for the mini's. They're gonna be used in every game, so better to throw the bag at the players and let 'em sort the things out.

The Sea of Blood expansion has a separate plano box.

I use zip lock bags for quite a few of my games (Agricola, Le Havre, Gates of Loyang, Labyrinth, Hornet Leader...) but I was debating whether I should create a baggie for each player and as you said, let them sort the pieces out.

Now that I think about it, Power Grid is setup that way.

Talking about baggies, I really appreciate it that Look-Out & Z-Man Games gave the consumer a bunch of baggies to separate the game pieces. I think all companies should do this.

DungeonQuest (3rd Edition, Fantasy Flight Games) fits easily within a Plano 3600.

As you can see, I fit all the contents of the game + some d20's (for tracking life) and some extra d6's (for ease of play + cool factor!).

If using my custom tuck boxes I designed for the various decks, the 3600 makes a really snug and perfect fit (all files for custom tuck boxes and Hero mats are available here at BGG). Stack your tuck boxes like this:

Then put your Hero card tuck box in the middle like this:

Then slip your Plano 3600 in with the latches facing outward toward the side of the box. You'll need to line up the plastic ridge on the back of the Plano to fit in between tuck boxes. It should look like this:

This makes a nice, neat, and snug fit for all of your contents! Enjoy!

I love Plano boxes and use them quite a bit in many games but for me they just don't work in all games. Most games just don't have enough different components to bother getting a Plano box. Baggies are a better choice IMO where the number of different pieces in a games is limited. I also prefer baggies for the individual player components. Then you can just hand each player a bag and they are all set to start. Usually there are not that many different components a player needs at the start of the game to bother with each player getting their own Plano, although there are exceptions like you mention in this list.

Where I find that Plano boxes help compared to baggies is when putting all the individual components out on the table would take up too much space. Games like Descent, Tide of Iron, Scepter of Zavandor and other games like that have lots of different cardboard pieces and if you laid them out all over the table they would take up too much room. Planos then serve to keep everything contained. This is especially handy when you have a lot of players and/or a small table.

So for a lot of the games on your list I wouldn't bother with the expense of a Plano box. I found your use of them in this particular game (Castle Ravenloft) particularly puzzling since I find that the insert that comes with Castle Ravenloft and Wrath of Ashardalon (same insert) is very functional. I think I have 4 baggies for the different tokens and everything else has a nice spot in the insert. There are not enough minis that you ever have problems finding the one you want in the bin divider in the insert. And since you only end up using a couple different types of tokens depending on the scenario most of them just stay in the bags after set-up anyway. But to each his own.

But I do have to ask, you wouldn't happen to be one of those people that doesn't like the different types of food on your plate touching?

And thanks for keeping an American company in business. I'm sure the people in Plano Illinois appreciate it.

No, I'm not one of the 'food border' people, no problems with making a big casserole. So far my OCD is limited to cardboard and plastic.

For Castle Ravenloft I was thinking of figure protection, especially when I paint them. Then since I already had the one box, and a little box sitting around, it made a nice combo. Maybe a habit from my old D&D days, where the metal figures would chip unless each had their own niche.

I used one Plano box, and cut the tray that came with the game down the middle, keeping the half that holds the map pieces.

Since I sleeved the cards anyway, I don't miss that other section that had the card holding section and big pit.

With paint jobs, I *think* you can just use foam. Craft shops sell them in 1" sheets, and you can sammich your mini's in a cardboard box. Use a rubber band to hold the stuff together. Cheap and it works great!

I found that for storing these games individually, as with Wrath of Ashardalon, a Plano 3600 + a Plano 3630 were the perfect combination, giving storage for ALL pieces, all miniatures (except dragon, balor, or w/e giant figure is included), and everything else you could need.
Here are some shots of Drizzt all packed up (note that I haven't made and printed out tuck boxes for the cards yet . . . I will soon, and will incorporate them into the 3630 as I did for Wrath of Ashardalon):

The Legend of Drizzt board game packed up neatly in a Plano 3600 + a Plano 3630. Here they are stacked up in the retail box. They perfectly fill it out, insuring no caving in.

Here, the 3600 pulled off the 3630.

Here, the contents of the 3600.

Here, the contents of the 3630.

Here, the remaining contents of the box.

I found that Wrath of Ashardalon is easily stored in a Plano 3600 + a Plano 3630. The 3600 is useful for all the many, many chits, etc., while the 3630 is nice and deep, allowing for a couple of the larger tokens, the cards, and all of the mini's (except Ashardalon).

Here is the game all packed up in its retail box.

Here you can see the 3600 unstacked off of the 3630. Stacked together, they fill out the box perfectly, thus preventing it caving in any.

Here is the 3630 and its contents. The cards are stored in these fantastic tuck boxes! Thanks tin0men! They fit perfectly in the 3630.

Here is the 3600 and its contents. Nice neat fit for everything.

Here are the rest of the contents of the box. By fitting the tiles together in two piles, they stay neat and don't slide or fall apart. I'm going to find/make a tuck box for the character cards so I don't have to use a rubber band anymore, but for now it does the trick. Ashardalon is too beastly to be contained by any mere storage device!

I like this system quite a bit, and I can vouch for the current line up of Plano 3600 and 3630 models (as of 12-16-11).

I've found this same box after a few different places under different brand names and labels. They have it at Wal-Mart, Jo-Anns, Target, etc. it's a 17-compartment craft box and I've also seen the same box but in 20-compartments. Sorry that's all the info I have but I no longer have the packaging.

You jest.

48 cards in 8 distinct decks. If you sorted then banded them last time 30 seconds. If you didn't 3 minutes tops.

95 trade tokens. Empty into opaque bag. Shake. Grab a handful at random and place out region by region, or your own preference, ignoring which side up they come. 2 minutes tops + 30 seconds to upend the down facing ones afterwards.

45 building tiles: 15 types, 3 of which are unique. 2 minutes tops.
Player tokens 30/player colour. These should be in separate baggies. Even if not about 1 minute to grab your own set.

Worst case scenario: Set up time 8-9 minutes if 1 player tackles all the communal tokens. 3-4 minutes if the players each help out with an item.
Better than most board games I'd say.
