... this complete for only $3.99. When I checked out the clerk said "Well, that lasted only about 30 minutes." She was referring to when they set it out. I was amazed that it wasn't taped or in the display case. It's complete with only two cracked corners.
This one will be going up on ebay within the week. We'll see if it goes anywhere near what About.com said it was worth on 2006.
This has to be the oldest game that I have ever picked up.
I was assaulted by a couple of savage pygmies with croquet mallets today. My foot was almost damaged by a peg out. Just to prove I wasn't intimidated by their wholly insincere apologies, I grabbed the only game any interest to me at all, even though I hadn't really intended to buy it. I even made sure to sneer haughtily as I counted the tiles.
As I walked up to Mary's Thrift Store, I saw a "1/2 price today" sign. Go in, and there is Settlers behind the counter, in shrink! It's marked $5.99 so I say, "But it's 1/2 off today, right?" "No, that was yesterday" I showed him the sign, and finally he agreed to let me have it for $3, then took down the sign as I browsed further. I kinda felt bad, quibbling over $3, but I doubt if the store is really for "charity" to any one beyond the family that runs it. They charge tax, which GW doesn't, if that means anything. OK, now I'm rationalizing my bad behavior.
$3, Mary's Thrift, doesn't say edition#, but lists 2007 in the copyrights
Actually "Scrabble Yahtzee"in a nice tin, $2.99 at GW Citrus Heights.
I thought it was some kind of combo (shake for your letters??) but no, it's just 2 complete games packaged together. 4-fold board and standard Scrabble tiles, but more than I usually pay just to ghoul them, and the Yahtzee pad proudly proclaims "Ashton WON".
Found at my regular Savers. Incomplete-missing the largest grass hex pieces, & a couple army cards, but included Brunak & SuBakNa from orms Return. best part though is its a 1st edition-sparkly water tiles. Should be able to complete from my dwindling stash of terrain...$4.99
