I do not own ANY CoC LCG products at the time this list was created. In fact, I have never even played the game.

My purpose then is to hear from the CoC LCG community and find out what the general consensus is on the numerous expansions before I dive in. I want to know which are best, which are worthwhile, and which are to be avoided.

For the uninitiated like myself, CoC LCG has been released in cycles of Asylum Pack expansions (AP) and the deck building limit for any card is three copies per deck. The Asylum Packs originally had 40 cards--3 x 10 and 1 x 10, but most of these have been updated to contain 60 cards--3 x 20--to fit with this limit.

There are also deluxe expansions which come in a hard box and have 55 unique cards.

Please add your voice and pool your knowledge and experience.

Yes, and no to combining them. I played my LCG decks against a formidable CCG deck and got wasted quickly.

The LCG core set cards are reprints of some of the CCG cards and if you sleeved them I don't see why you couldn't use them when playing with friends.

Yeah they are great in a casual setting where everyone has access to them, but as a "Meet up some random schlub to play a game" it might be considered bad decorum to throw them in without mutual consent or at the very least fair warning.

The core set. Gotta have this to begin. 7 factions.

I believe it has one copy of each of its 155 unique cards. Deck building limit is 3, so does one need three copies of the core set?

The cards in the core set are among the most versatile and powerful in the game. Time and time again when building a deck you'll wish you had more copies of these core cards. You should probably get three copies now to avoid that agony.

The is the only CCG AP that I have. I imagine there will be some changes from the earlier version, but I know it will have copies of the Dunwich Horror so I can send it trampling over my opponents characters. This is a must buy- at least for me.

This one has some fun cards and introduces the Polar subtype, which I dont' think is ever seen again. It's based on the HPL story and has killer penguins. Buy it.

While this one does have some very good cards (Alaskan Sled Dogs etc.) the polar mechanic is only in these few cards, so they are very limiting.

The beginning of the story of poor, doomed Julia Brown. Each of the new AP pack cycles includes a chapter of a story that concludes with the last pack.

The decks from this cycle are themed around the story struggles. One AP is combat based, another is investigation and so on. I can't remember which is which, but it's on the backs of the boxes and possibly on the FFG descriptions.

The Day/Night mechanics are introduced to the LCG environment along with the Dreamlands setting.

Lots of Gugs, Zoogs and Nyarly makes an appearance in this cycle.

Day and Night cards are also represented in the CCG era as well, to further confuse matters.

I am not positive which set they were introduced in. Someone with more knowledge of the CCG cards may have to provide that info.

Good advice, but I would wait until the Dreamlands cycle is reprinted in the 60 card format so you'll get 3 of all cards much easier.
