Items for the BDG August 28th Used Game and Ding & Dent Sale and Auction
On Sunday, August 28th, Black Diamond Games in Concord, CA will have a used game and "Ding & Dent" sale and auction.Recommend
Since I help to organize this quarterly event, I generally start a list of some of the games that will be for sale. This list contains games that are currently on the clearance/bargain racks at the store, and others that are being held specifically for the event, as well as items that customers (like me) are bringing in.
The way the event works is this: people can fill out a sales list, then bring their used games to the store prior to the event (we don't like to take anything after Saturday, but if you are from out of town and make arrangements with me beforehand, I may be able to process your items at 10am Sunday and include them in the sale).
Most of the items are placed on tables and sold at a "buy it now" price set by the seller. Very special or high value/interest items may be sold during a live auction portion of the sale. These items will start at a minimum bid price set by the seller - there are no "reserve" prices on live auction items (if you want a set amount, sell it as a "buy it now" priced item).
This is a link to the seller form:
I think the doors to the sale area will be opening at 10am or 10:30am. I should be able to clarify that before the 28th. I will also be able to share with you whether there is likely to be a live auction this time, and what time it will take place.
If you are selling items at the event, please add them to this list, to increase interest and awareness, and make it more likely that people will come buy your stuff.
Buyers take their "loot" to the counter and pay the store for all items, sellers receive store credit for the dollar amount of their items that sell. That store credit may be used the same day (there may be some delays while we process your credit, and we hope you bear with us on that).
I understand what "used" means, but what is this "Ding & Dent"?
A store generally builds up a stock of "dead product" in the back room that includes customer returns, shelf-worn and sun-faded copies of games, games that were damaged in shipment, storage, or when they fall off the shelf, get knocked over or dropped by a clumsy person, and also things that the store ordered too many of. The BDG "Ding & Dent" sale started as a means of clearing out this backlog of stuff. Over the years, it has evolved into an event where customers can clear their own closets and shelves of games that they no longer use, and get new (or new to them) games in return.
The usual disclaimer: I am an event volunteer at the store, I am not an employee or the owner. I do my best to post the accurate version of games involved in the event, but may make errors (I am often working off of lists, rather than sitting in front of the games as I type). Some items that are on the store's clearance and sale shelves may sell before the event (if you are local, drop by and take a look at them, they have a bunch of things on them lately).
Items will list in alphabetical order, by title. If you are watching/tracking the list, you may want to subscribe so you don't miss any additions.
