As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you, now remain in my love. You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. -- Jesus Christ
This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our king: Belial I.

Aka 'Grab!' or 'It's Mine!' by Reiner Knizia with a Simpsons theme. Local British Heart Foundation for £1.50, complete and excellent condition. I may be able to convince my workmates to play this during breaks (if they can get their heads out of the daily crossword)
Found this at Savers for $1.99. I can't figure out the inventory on the game. I know I am supposed to have 28 Victory Points Chits and I only have 25 of them (just use mini poker chips as replacement). I counted 150 cards. I'm not sure if this game has an expansion, but the directions only say I should only have 130 cards total. The game looks like it was removed from the shrink, looked at, and haphazardly thrown back in the box. Some of the cards are still in the order the manufacturer put them in. This game looks fun, and I think I will enjoy it.
Edit: The cardboard holder had been shoved in the box (even ripped a bit), and the a few of the victory point chits were wedged in. I found my three missing victory chits when I pulled out the cardboard holder. After much swearing, my hubby was finally able to do an accurate count of all the cards. They're all present. This game is complete and very close to mint condition.
I am going to be honest and say I only picked this one up because others on the list seem to do it. (No, I would not jump off a bridge if others on the list did it.) I haven't done an inventory of the game yet, but when I opened it in the store, I could see several characters and full trays of those circle chit thingys. Really, I have no use for the game. I feel I should make the obligatory statement here - No, I don't have a problem thrifting. I can stop any time I want.
$3 @ SVdP. Box is decent shape - no split corners. Up for trade.
Picked this up from SVdP for $1.70. On the bottom of the box was a Savers price tag for $1.99. I've been told the Monopoly card game is fun, but the last one I thrifted had two missing cards. I'm thinking this will hopefully be fun for game club.
It was initially marked at $4.99, but while I was standing there staring at it and trying to decide whether I'd be willing to pay 5 bucks for a game with a mediocre rating and no trade value, they announced a Manager's Special over the intercom - 20 percent off toys and games with a green tag.
Seemed like Fate to me, so I bought it. Or maybe they just saw me trying to make up my mind and gave me a nudge. Either way, a buck's a buck.
Edit: Whoops. Sorry to break into your narrative, Cindy.
...this for $2.99. It has all the cool coins, so I couldn't leave it there to be scavenged by the wandering urchins. (Actually, one was quite well behaved and trying to keep an eye on his brother while his mother shopped).
Then, as I lifted this off the shelf to add to the Monopoly, I looked behind it and saw...
$4, VV In shrink, that was the only reason I grabbed this, HONEST!
Apparently these sell well at xmas if in shrink, somehow I don't think this version will net me much, but I do have a daughter whom will likely enjoy playing this with me in a while. After that I can combine it with my other Mall Madness to make an epic LNOE mall variant
...Battleball. Haven't inventoried yet but the players are all bagged and I see most of the dice - as well as the little zinc football. So I have hope this is complete-even if it doesn't have the outsert. $2.99
Next I look in the card bin - what's this? Bang! Dodge City? $.89?!?!? I begin scanning the shelves again in a desperate bid to find the base game - but I don't see it anywhere. Has it come out and been purchased already? Am I too late? Or is it languishing in the back somewhere...gah!
When I open the box, I find not only is it complete, with all of the cards looking completely unplayed, I also find....
And finally I see this. I look at the back and see that it has some cool Enterprise movers. As I start to slit the tape to be sure they are still inside, I realize that it is factory sealed - and stop right there. $2.99 Putting it on top of the stack I head to the counter where I closely watch the light-fingered clerk ring things up and admire BANG! Dodge City. That's right, honey, that's mine!
