You play boardgames? You mean like Monopoly? Well, yes. Pretty much exactly like that. This is a list about how every board game is just like Monopoly. Please only post items to this list that are like Monopoly - and since that's every boardgame, feel free to add them all, but please explain why they are the same.

Every turn you roll some dice to determine who gets resources. If you're lucky, you collect on other players' turns. Then you trade in those resources for stuff. In Catan, you buy roads and settlements. In Monopoly, you buy properties and houses. You might even get some cards that give you random bonuses. You can upgrade your small houses into bigger houses that are worth more.

It is almost always best to buy any property you can afford. Forming chains of the same color will be worth more.

Obviously, the Electric Company is in this game. Really, Power Grid is just a tiny component of the larger game of Monopoly.

Railroads. Monopoly's got 4 of them. How many do you have, Age of Steam? 3 to 6? Well, that's a pretty good number. How about we call it a tie?

He who controls the Baltic controls... well, not much actually. Get back to me when you also control the Mediterranean.

Both games are about collecting as much loot as you can, and are fun for the first 15 minutes.
Munchkin - 15 minutes of good fun, tightly packed into 2 hours of gameplay.

Lots of houserules. I don't think anyone is entirely sure how to play either game as the rules have been lost to the mists of time. ("Dude, they're right here in the box.") Yep, lost to the mists of time...

( Dungeon Quest | Monopoly )
When it's your turn, you move your pawn. Then you get to a space that determines what you can do - either the space already belongs to somebody else, then you have to ( fight them to the death | pay them rent ), or it is yours to loot, then you get ( phat lewt | to buy the property card ). The goal of the game is to be the only player left that is not bankrupt and not ( dead | asleep ). There is player elimination, the ones who ( died a hilarious death | went bankrupt ) early on get to watch the others and twiddle their thumbs. There are also ( evil dragons and sorcerers | railroads ), and you can ( encounter traps or meet your doom in the catacombs | go to jail ). Replayability is ensured by the randomness inherent in the game, because of ( tons of different tiles and cards and enemies | the dice ).

Both games have a track around the board, and pawns moving on that track. Also, both games are about establishing your ownership of properties.

You really want to build houses in this game. And you want to build bigger houses instead of your small houses, because they are better. And you want to take over the houses of everybody else, ultimately, because doing that with everybody's houses ensures that you win the game.

In Monopoly your goal is to own all the land and transportation routes so you can charge high rents (victory for the bourgeois).
In Triumph of Chaos (at least for the communists) your goal is to own all the land and transportation routes to own the means of production (victory for the proletarians).

This is a game where you can roll dice and go to jail. By the end of the game there is a good chance you'll be both broke and insane.

Very old with poor quality cards (and of very little interest nowadays).
A perfect description of both my Monopoly game and my Winkle's Wedding game.
