This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our King Belial I.

Got the DC Superheroes set (expansion pack?) for this also at Unique for $1.91 with add'l 25% off.
I have the original Quiz Wiz from Christmas 1979 or 1980 (??).... and a couple other booklets.... makes no sense that my parents didn't buy the superhero one though.
This was a cool little game... very similar to those Obsessed with.... trivia books you see today.
I'm surprised this is in the database, seems like a solitaire game to me.
The secret is that no matter which cartridge you plug into, the answer is the same letter for every question number. Like question 1 was always D, no matter what book you had.

Well, this week was pretty much the worst Thrifting week ever for me. After my daughters VERY early soccer game I decided to garage sale our way back home. I was a bit luckier at the garage sale market. First find was this for $2
Found this under a table at another sale. Was a great find!. Despite the fact the box looks like it went to a waterpark for a week ALL parts are there and in great condition. some parts still in bags.....AND SPARKLY WATER TILES!!!
She wanted $10. I told her $3....so we settled at $5.
This one is in excellent shape and has original price tag still on the box. $5.33. With tax I believe I paid a little more for it, 48 years later. $4.99 GW
£2 from Scope, Kendal. The only other time I have picked up a copy of Go was from the same charity shop. 181 white stones, 144 black. In a 30 year old game, who loses 37 pieces of one colour, and none of the other?
Found this deluxe edition at the local dump. The top of the box had a serious divot, but inside, the cards were in shrink. Great looking graphics on the cards, a neat spinning card tray . . . but I probably won't play it.
So I went back to GW today, hoping to find some more games from the same source as the Die Macher find two days ago. Didn't find anything very exciting, but I did find a few games to take home.
The numbers 203, 302, 324 and 591 are the winning tickets in last week's Thrifty Lottery. Congratulations go to moxyoron, RiffRaff14, isawa_mo and slbyron. They are the winners of one shiny coin each. The winnings have been added as tips to the corresponding listed items on last week's list.
This week there's another Thrifty Lottery with 4 coins up for grabs. You can find the details and previous results here: The Thrifty Lottery - Outline & Results
Another experience-- the Half Price Books store in Brookfield, WI.
Simply ridiculous game pricing... the worst I've ever seen. They had the audacity to ask **$30** for a copy of Crack the Case, and most of the other games were either $20 or $30 as well. I mean, you-rah-rah capitalism and all that, but sheesh.
They did have one interesting game-- Pony Express -- but it was in German and they were asking $20. Despite Alan Moon's name on the box, it was too rich for my blood.
Today certainly helped me remember why I ALWAYS go to GW 20-15 minutes before closing time.
I don't know about your stores but the two big AMVETS here (GW doesn't have games) you'd never want arrive any earlier than 30 + minutes before close. At a quarter till, they announce pending close on the overhead and the checkout line instantly grows to a mile long!
