Please note: I am no longer keeping up with this geeklist. I am not interested in Miniature games and since the top ten has been taken over by them this list no longer interests me. I hope you have enjoyed the 18 months of updates... I am changing the list to allow public additions if someone has the desire to keep up with it.

has restarted the list, which can be found here: Top 10 Funded Kickstarter Boardgame Projects

Kickstarter seems to be a great way for small publishers and self-publishers to get their games to the market. For some people, the amount of money being collected is truly amazing to see.

This is a list of the top 10 funded projects on Kickstarter.

As you look over these projects, please be aware that a these are gross funds. Amazon.com, Kickstarter, and shipping has to be paid. Also, added costs associated with bonuses have to be subtracted from the total.

Congratulations to everyone on this list!

Also, this is only for board and card games. There are a few items in this catagory on Kickstarter that are not actually games such as the Settlers of Catan premium board or the various designs of poker cards.

PLEASE NOTE: Games below the top 10 are games that have fallen out of the top 10 games and are now Zombie zombie entries. Any games that have subsequently raised enough money to exceed one of the zombie entries listed but that have never actually been in the top 10 are not in this geeklist. Games outside the top 10 remain on the list for historical reference only.

Do you want to know more about Kickstarter? Do you want to know what it takes to run a successful project? I highly recommend Richard Bliss's The Game Whisperer PodCast Richard interviews people about Kickstarter, including people who have run successful and unsuccessful projects. Very informative and a must if you are thinking about starting your own project.

More great advice is being provide by Tasty Minstrel Games. Includes a great powerpoint with video. Check out the information here: http://playtmg.com/blogs/michaels-blog-1

Also, be sure to join the Kickstarter Guild.

This project is for expansions to the former Top Game (currently at fifth place) Zombicide. The project was launched on Saturday, March 2 and by the time of the Monday updated it had generated well over half-a-million, killing the game Boss Monster: Master of the Dungeon and making its debut in this list at seventh place… people sure do love zombies and miniatures!

The project is for two expansions, Toxic City Mall, Zombie Dogz, and the stand alone (or usualbe as an expansion) Season 2: Prison Outbreak.

Toxic City Mall is an expansion usable in Season 1 AND Season 2: Prison Outbreak.. It contains new features to expand your Zombicide games and enrich your experience with new friends and enemies, as well as new game tiles, equipment cards and rules.

Season 2: Prison Outbreak, is designed as a playable game in its own right, in the same way the Season 1 game was. A new player can enter the Zombicide universe with this box, as it contains everything needed to play as a standalone game. Even more mutated zombies roam the streets, becoming more terrible than ever. Your team will engage in close-quarter combat in dangerous prison blocks and interact a lot with the board itself. Switches will open and lock doors, security zones will change the way you move around and observation towers will expand your view of the surroundings.

Zombie Dogz is a mini-expansion that is being included “as a special bonus”. These critters may be dead, but their teeth are still sharp and they’re more deadly than ever. If you see these Zombie Dogz coming, it’s time to RUN!

Plus, backers at $100 or more will get a bonus mini of “Brad” in his human and zombie forms.

… Boom, out of nowhere this game came. It was launched on Nov 22, Thanksgiving Day, and by Monday, when I checked on Kickstater Projects for this geeklist, it had already moved into sixth place, knocking Tammany Hall out of the top ten.

The project is for a cooperative tabletop miniatures game for 1-6 players. Set in a unique nightmarish world devoid of most natural resources, you control a settlement at the dawn of its existence. Fight monsters, craft weapons and gear, and develop your settlement to ensure your survival from generation to generation.

The launched started with a “black Friday” sale, with the $100 level being offered at $85 and later at $86. The $155 level was offered for $129-$140, increasing each time 100 backers joined. The $295 limited version was first offered at $250-$252, again, increasing each time 100 people backed.

This table top game is another one of those plastic miniatures game that seem incredibly popular on Kickstarter. It includes the base game and optional extras that can be added by increasing the pledge level.

Original Offers:

$100 – Copy of the base game with digital artbook.
$155 – as above, plus Kickstarter exclusive Adam and Anna figures and a T-Shirt
$295 – as above, plus Adam and Anna figures in resin as well as the first four starting figures in resin.

Optional extras for an increase in bid over the selected amount:

Game Expansions:
Flower Knight Expansion + $15 (MSRP $30)

Optional Plastic Minis (increase your pledge to get these )
Rawhide Dame, plastic + $15
Beyond the Wall, plastic +$15
Watcher, plastic +$15
Phoenix Dancer, plastic +$15
Kingsmen Regiment x 5 plastic minis +$20
Kingsmen Deluxe Regiment x25 plastic minis +$50
Primal Huntress, plastic +$15

Optional Resin Minis ( increase your pledge to get these )
*resin miniatures are suggested for experienced hobbyists only
Rawhide Dame, collectors edition resin +$25
Phoenix collectors edition resin +$150
Beyond the Wall, resin +$27
Watcher, resin +$35
Phoenix Dancer, resin +$25
Kingsmen, resin +$25
Flower Knight, resin +$29
Paul the Survivor, resin +$25
Primal Huntress, resin +$25

Most stretch goal awards are only available for those backing the $155 level or higher.
Some stretch goals only offer additional items for an increase in pledges.

Stretch goal awards:

$55k – Game box upgrade, four additional miniatures (all levels)
$80k – Doubled the rawhide armor kit, enough to make 8 figures.
$105 – Extra Phoenix miniature
$140 – Game box upgrade, four additional miniatures (all levels)
$185 – Extra Watcher
$200 – Double phoenix armor kit, enough to make 8 figures
$225 – Regiment of Kings, set of five figures
$250 – Unlocked Flower Knight Expansion, add $15 to pledge to receive.
$275 – New character, Paul the Survivor
$285 – Game box upgrade, New fur armor kit for all levels

Entered into the top ten sometime over the USA holiday weekend.

This project started on May 25, 2012 while I was taking a week off from the pressures of work and was relaxing on the lake for nine days. So, I didn’t get to keep up with its rise into the top ten and upon my return on June 4th the game was already in sixth place. The game was funded in a mere SIX HOURS and pushed “Schlock Mercenary: Capital Offensive” out of the top ten.

Battle for Alabaster is a survival horror themed tactical science fiction miniatures game from Studio McVey. Pitting the stalwart Vanguard and the horrific Strain against each another in a miniatures board-game for 2 players, Sedition Wars: Battle for Alabaster is exciting and easy to learn and calls to miniature enthusiasts, hobbyists and gamers everywhere.

Featuring an innovative one-roll resolution system, and reactive game-play turn that keeps all players always on alert and ready for action, as well as infection and mutation mechanics, the game is unique and revolutionary. Featuring beautiful models from some of the most talented sculptors in the industry, the Battle for Alabaster’s furious action and deep tactical play marry the best of board game and miniature design!

This project began on Apr 11, 2012 and within hours it burned up the chart, knocking VivaJava out of the top ten game.

I am not sure what to say about this game. The first edition of the game was released in 1977 and it is a two-three player game of tactical ground combat set in the not-so-distant future. In 2085 A.D., armored warfare continues - faster and deadlier than ever. Hovercraft, tanks and infantry slug it out with tactical nuclear devices. But the most feared weapon of all needs no human guidance. It's a giant cybernetic tank called the OGRE.

The basic OGRE game gives one player a force of infantry and armor, and a command post he must defend. The other player has only one unit - but it's an OGRE. It's an even match. Advanced games allow solitaire or multi-player action, with OGREs on both sides.

The last printed version of the game was released in 1987 and was released in a 12x9x1 inch box. This version of the game is being called the designer’s edition with die cut chipboard which will make up the gaming pieces. The box is quite a bit larger at 21.5x18.25x4 inches at its non-stretch goal size and weighs in at 14 pounds. It is one monster of a game.

Original Offer:
$25 – PDF Copies of the Ogre Book and Scenarios
$100 – copy of the printed game
$150 – above plus Lapel Pin, kickstarter shirt

The Stretch Goals for this game are listed, with high hopes for a lot of funding:

$40,000 - We will post blank 3-D designs online for the Mk III and Mk V.
$75,000 - a big Exclusive Kickstarter Counter Sheet
$90,000 - Four new Ogre scenarios designed by Steve Jackson will be posted to the SJ Games website
$100,000 - a Ogre blueprint poster in every copy of the game.
$110K - We’ll post outlines for a 3-D Command Post, Laser, and Laser Tower, so your custom Ogres can have custom targets.(added Apr 13)
$120,000 - acrylic dice
$130K - Four more scenarios by Steve will be posted in December.(added Apr 13)
$140,000 - A new 8" x 10" sheet of terrain overlays
$150,000 - Early release for Kickstarter copies.
$175k - Instead of the standard 16mm dice get 19mm
$200,000 - Instead of two double-sided maps, every copy of the game will include four single-sided maps.
$250,000 - more games shipped 1 month early
300,000 - We are now committed to releasing an Ogre computer game
325,000 - We will release an Ogre expansion set late in 2013
350,000 - We will add a new 11.5 x 17.625” Kickstarter-exclusive sheet
375,000 - a translation (maybe German)
400,000 - Pocket Ogre! By popular demand, a new “mini” edition of Ogre that will look a whole lot like the very first edition.(for $150 backers)
425,000 - 30 mins of music
450,000 - Somehow, some way, we WILL bring back the Ogre miniatures
475,000 - We will run a scenario contest
500,000 - Classic counters. Okay. We said we would never do these. You changed our minds. They will be available as an extra and in Warehouse 23 if this level is reached.
525,000 - We will replace the cardboard "Ogre garage" in the box with a heavy-duty vacuum-molded piece
550,000 - We will start interviewing for a full-time Ogre line editor
575,000 - We will put Ogre Miniatures, 2nd Edition on the schedule for late 2013, as both hardcopy and PDF
600,000 - Jackson will come to at least two major summer/fall game conventions in 2013
600,001 - Heavy Weapon Team unit type to one of the Kickstarter exclusive sheets.
650,000 - Special launch event in Austin
650,001 - will add (a few) Engineers to one of the Kickstarter exclusive sheets, plus a Vulcan
700,000 - Will be able to launch project for Car Wars

This project flew under my radar because it was not placed in the correct category of “table top games”.

DreadBall – The Futuristic Sports Game is the hyperkinetic sci-fi sports game of unparalleled speed and ferocity - a fast, fun and tactical miniature sports board game written by Jake Thornton and created by Mantic Games.

Two coaches compete for victory with teams of beautiful plastic miniatures on a stunning sci-fi pitch. The game is easy to learn, yet challenging, with carefully orchestrated plays and counter attacks hinging on positioning and the mercy of the dice gods.

Created by the finest sculptors, artists and game designers, DreadBall – The Futuristic Sports Game is the first in a series of visually stunning sci-fi sports games, to be supported with expansions introducing new teams and exciting new game play, building on the already impressive 84-page full-colour A4 rulebook.

Original offer:
$80 – Copy of the game (PDF rules)
$100 – adds printed rules and mounted gameboard.
$150 – adds two additional teams

Addons
$25 for each additional teams (8 to choose from)
$20 Boost game to 16 players per team
$85 to get season two teams
$85 to get season three teams
$8 to get additional prone markers
Lord, this thing has got more extras than I care to list.

Another CoolMiniorNot game. This company has been pretty successful with its mini games via Kickstarter with this game joining Relic Knights: Dark Space Calamity ($909,537) and Sedition Wars: Battle for Alabaster ($951,254) in the top ten. Does this game have what it takes to finally break that Million Dollar threshold?

Rivet Wars is a miniatures boardgame that springs forth from the warped imagination of Ted Terranova - set on a world that never quite left World War I but with crazy technology like walking tanks, diesel powered armor, unicycled vehicles and armor plated cavalry!

Don't let the cute visuals fool you, it's a world full of angst, war-torn camaraderie and dark humor.

Rivet Wars is at its heart a strategy game, with both players deploying units each round to counter the threats set forth by their opponent and stay one tactical step ahead.

Heavily influenced by Ted's experience working on RTS games like Rise of Nations, players gather resources (bunkers and capture points) and use these to deploy streams of new units!

Original Offer:

$90 Copy of the game
$150 Copy of the game + all stretch goals

Stretch Goals
Plastic Bunkers to replace cardboard
Plastic Objectives to replace cardboard
Additional Vehicles (4 cavalry and 2 vehicles)
Additional Tanks [$150 level only]
$150k – Plastic Damage Counters to replace cardboard
$175k – Custom Dice [$150 level only]
$180k – Baby Girl figure [$150 level only]
$190k – The Man in Charge figure [$150 level only]
$200k – Two Generals that “plug into the tanks”
$210k – All special edition figures include free plugin
$225k – 24 additional infantry figures [$150 level only]

Plus, there are a few add on figures (well, one right now) to be purchased separately.

This project moved into the top ten on March 1, 2013, pushing Zpocalypse out of the top ten.

Machine of Death is a game about problem solving. In the world of the game, there exists a machine (the titular Machine of Death) that can issue little cards to individuals: death predictions. Nobody knows just how it works, but it’s always, always right. (You may recognize this concept from our #1 bestselling short story collection, which is also titled, COINCIDENTALLY, Machine of Death.) The book was about exploring the existential ramifications of the existence of the machine in worlds otherwise much like our own. It’s a thoughtful, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, meditation on fate.

The GAME is about flinging SHARKS from CATAPULTS in order to kill imaginary people. It’s basically a game of Mousetrap or a Road Runner cartoon, except that it’s TOTALLY WITHIN THE RULES to create a QUICKSAND GENERATOR in a TREEHOUSE in order to DROWN A CHILD. (That was a real game we played.)

Set in a world where there is a machine that can predict how a person will die with 100% accuracy with only a small blood sample. However, the machine delights in being vague and twisted. A card reading "Old Age" could mean you die in your sleep at age 120 or it could mean you're run over tomorrow by an elderly driver who forgot to take his pills today.
Players draw a cause of death card as well as various implement cards. They have to create a scenario where the implements will lead to the character's death using all of the implements before the timer runs out. A die roll decides which parts succeed or fail.

An example would be the “cause of death card” is banana Peel… The character is currently on the space station and you have cards for A liquid, a tool, and a piece of furniture. How would you make it happen?

How Ironic that this project is the one to knock our first big selling Kickstarter Project out of the Top Ten. The publisher of D-Day Dice repels their first big seller off the beach and out of the top ten with the fire teams of Up Front.

Up Front was created in 1983 by Avalon Hill Game Company and was considered a very good war game. Instead of having a board, the game uses cards to determine everything from terrain to range. The interesting thing about this game is terrain cards can be played by either player, so a commander might order his men forward to get a better shot at the enemy only to have the other commander play a terrain card putting the men in a worse situation than expected. This is how the game represents the Fog of War and it works very well.

Each squad is made if up individual soldiers put together in 1-4 fire teams of the player’s choice. The action deck of 160 cards drives the game and forces decision making in this quick card game. It is recommended that players only take on minute to order their fire teams to keep the pressure on the commanders.

Results are determined by drawing additionl cards from the action deck where random numbers are printed on the cards. So, no dice are used, only the cards are used for the entire game.

Courtney F. Allen, the designer for the 1983 release of Up Front, worked with Radiant Games to rework and expand Up Front, incorporating many fan made expansions as well as creating new expansions for the game.

The entire game’s artwork was redone with the military history artist Ron Volstad doing the solider cards (Personality Cards) for the game.

There have been some minor rule changes to help new users understand the game. One such change has been to rework how range to the target is calculated. The rules also have a basic set of rules and a comprehensive set for more experienced players.

The base game are the USA and German sets (58 Personality Cards (PC), 33 Weapon Cards (WP), 28 Armored Fighting Vehicle Cards (AFV), 162 Country Action Deck, Tokens for two players.

Expansions that are “set in stone” to be made and are available for purchase with the Kickstarter Project are:

Soviet Union (28 PC, 21 WP, 11 AFV, Winter Action Deck)
British (26 PC, 15 WP, 12 AFV, City Action Deck)

This project moved into the top ten on March 28, 2012 burning down the house that Flash Point: Fire Rescue built, but was then sent to Zombie Land on March 1, 2013 by Machine of Death.

Zpocalypse is a survival board game set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Players are survivors are trying to make it day to day in a world torn apart from the walking dead.

As in any survival game one needs food, guns, ammo, and more. Players go out into the wasteland and scavenge for supplies, or perhaps to find a new gun or melee weapon to fend off the next zombie attack.

In addition to gathering supplies, each player forms and controls a squad. Each squad works to fortify the base(s). However your walls and barbed wire won’t hold the dead for long, and they’re getting hungry.

Player's receive victory points for killing zombies, building defenses, and successfully completing goals. Victory points show who is soldiering on the best in this wasteland. The final tally of points determines the winner. Victory points also act as experience points for leveling up a character.

The game combines combat, resource collecting, character development, team play, and strategy towards the goal of surviving in the Zpocalypse!

This project was mentioned on Board Game Geek prior to being launched in order to get people already familiar with the title ready for the event. Three days after the sneak peak into the making of the video for the project, it was launched. The game also has its own blog on BGG where information about the game has been posted since December 2011, three months prior to its launch.

On March 11, 2012, just days after launch, Greenbrier Games sponsored a BBG Giveaway as a marketing tool to drum up interest as well as point people to the Kickstarter page.

Knocked out of the top ten by Rivet Wars by CoolMiniorNot Jan 14, 2013.

This game entered the top 10 on May 2, knocking Miskatonic School for Girls into the nether regions.

Serpent’s Tongue is a unique Trading Card Game, for 1-8 players, in which the players are actually learning a new vocal pattern speech which is used to “case spells”. According to the BGG page: “Players become Magi, by building their Hardbound Spell Codex with Incantations and casting them using an actual functioning language, in competitive battles and cooperative adventures.

Serpent's Tongue is a spell casting simulation game, with a stand alone core set that is expandable with Inscription Packs.”

The game has 18 words of power that can be combined into hundreds of patterns. The player wishing to cast a spell will say the patterns, if they miss part of the pattern (which the other players can see) the spell does not work.

Base Offers for the game:

$25 – Single set for solo players

$45 – Full set of the game, 40 hour Co-op game, Add’l 40 advanced cards, Kickstarter only specializations and an artifact, name worked into a future expansion

$85 – Above plus a full case of inscription packs (288 random cards), Add’l kickstarter artifact, Sacred Sites expansion.

Stretch Rewards:

$30,000 – Defensive Artifact, Upgraded Art, 6 Avak’Shar Ranks
$42,000 – Digital Casting Timer, Kickstarter Only Artifact, 20 Avak’Shar Ranks, more art upgrades
$50,000 – new Specialization, 6 Avak’Shar Ranks, more art upgrades
$60,000 – Playtesting Kit to help with final playtesting
$75,000 – Lapel Pin, more art upgrades, US and Canadian backers get signed codices
$80,000 - Backers pledging $11 or more will receive all previously announced KickStarter exclusive bonus cards and those pledging $155 or more will receive an obscure Master exclusive

Pushed out of top ten by Up Front on Dec 20, 2012

This game moved into the top 10 within 72 hours of becoming a Kickstarter Project and knocked Lyssan off of the list.

This game spent quite a while as a print and play game as the designer worked out the kinks and bugs. The original version is still available as a Trial Version of the game. The designer has been very active on BGG with feedback to the PnP game as well as what the plans are for the Kickstarter Project.

On the day of launch for the project, Valley Games, INC launced a contest to win a copy of the game. Ten lucky winners will receive a free game.

On Nov 1, 2011 the game had 300 backers with a total of $31,046 with 37 days to go. 50 of those backers took the $100 Line for Life choice, while 121 have taken the $125 Live for Life choice. With only 50 available at $100 and 150 available at $125 the funding sprint should slow down a little once this "special interest" level is gone.

Well, by Dec 9, the funding spirit exploded even without the Line for Life level being available. After this game took over the #1 spot on this list with just over $76,000, it raised an additional $92,000 in 13 days.

On Nov 2, 2011 all of the "Line for Life" levels are filled. That is 50 for $100 (early bird), 150 at $125, and 12 of the Times Four at $350.

Pledge Levels:
$35
--Copy of game
--D-Day Dice Pouches
--Distinguished Service Pack

$50 adds
--Atlantik Wall Expansion

$75 adds
--Gott Mit Uns Expansion
--Normandy Expansion
--Operation Neptune Expansion

$100/$125/$140 adds
--Subscription for Every Expansion to be printed for D-Day Dice.

"Stretch Rewards":
--"D-Day Dice: Badges" mini-expansion (Nov 2).
--Two exclusive cards (award and regular item card) (Nov 5)
--4 "Machine-Gun Fire Dice". Black with red ink dice. (Nov 15)
-----Valley Games added more Line for Life pledges. 100 @ $140, and 13 x4 @ 450. (Nov 16)
--Two battle maps (Sword Beach II and Riva Bella) (Nov 17)
--Two cards (The Supporter and The Victory Ribbon) (Nov 23)
--The D-Day Dice game bag as the "top selling kickstarter reward". A WWII style messenger bag with the D-Day Dice logo with enough room to hold two copies of the game or a copy of the game with the Atlantikwall expansion. (Nov 23)
--Limited edition D-Day Dice tin box. This tin box is in addition to the cardboard box. (Nov 27)
--One set (6 dice) of the RWB dice with a sparkle finish.(Dec 1)
--Two cards (Campaign Ribbon Award, K-Rations Regular Card), all six bonus cards will become the "K" pack. (Dec 5)
--Full set of the limited edition dice with the sparkle finish. Total of 24 extra dice.(Dec 8)

This project pushed Agents of Smersh out of the top ten, the spy story game was the first game to be funded over $100,000 to lose its top ten ranking. Kickstarter funding is becoming more and more popular for both the industry and for players. This project in turn, was removed from the top ten list by Kingdom Death: Monster

Tammany Hall was one of those games that had a great reputation, but had been out of print for several years. This project was to fund a reprinting of the game. Pandasaurus Games stated that without crowd funding through Kickstarter the reprint would never have happened.

Tammany Hall is a game of backstabbing, corruption, temporary alliances, and taking power at all costs. If you want to rule New York, you are going to need to play the city's growing immigrant populations against one another. Help the immigrant groups who owe you political favors, call in those favors to slander your rivals, and win election.

In Tammany Hall, players help immigrants settle in New York, collect political favors from those immigrant groups, send ward bosses into Manhattan to secure votes, and slander political opponents. An election is held at the end of every fourth year, and the player who uses his power base best will be elected mayor. The Mayor's grip on the city is tenuous at best. After every election, the Mayor must pay off his political rivals by placing them in offices that they can wield to try to take control of the city. Every player is your friend, every player is your enemy.

Tammany Hall was the political machine that dominated New York City politics by organizing the immigrant populations. While the organization's influence spanned from its founding in the 1790s to its collapse in the 1960s, this game is set in lower Manhattan roughly between 1850 and 1870 – the era of Boss Tweed.

Original Offer:
$55 – Game

Stretch Rewards:

$45k - custom decal sheets for the political favor chips matching the flag of the immigrant’s home country.
$55k - thick cardboard player aides that are given to the players to designate the office that they hold and to serve as a reminder of your office’s power during play
$65k - 10 custom “Boss” meeples
$80k - 90 custom “street Gang” meeples
$100k - upgrade the Draw Bag to a black velvet-like material, with a gold-colored draw string, and are going to silk screen a full-color Tammany Hall Logo on the bag
$115k - upgrade the board artwork

This project has back handed “Ground Floor” into the basement. and then got sent back down by Boss Monster a month later.

Mr Card Game is based on the on-line computer game called “Kingdom of Loathing”. You’ve clicked your keyboard tirelessly in a quest to free the imprismed King, now help us bring seal clubbing, pastamancing, and accordion thieving out from behind the computer monitor. That’s right, we are building the world’s first commercially available Kingdom of Loathing themed card game, and we need your help to make it happen.

Mr. Card Game is a collaboration between Evertide Games and Asymmetric Publications And now, after a year of mechanics-pasting, advanced cardsmithing and super human playtesting, the designcrafting is done and both Asymmetric and Evertide Games are pleased to present Mr. Card Game. Mr. Card Game is half deck-building, half tableau management and 100% Kingdom of Loathing character builder. No pasted on themes here, this game reeks of ripe Kingdome-y goodness (sorry about the smell).

And, just as important, Mr. Card Game is downright fun to play. We’re KoL fans and, like you, for years we’ve wished there was a fun tabletop way to play KoL with a group of friends out here in the real world. The gameplay of Mr. Card Game reflects this commitment to the Kingdom and that warm squishy and sometimes smooshy feeling we all get while playing it.

This is another game that I didn’t get to track while on vacation. Using Kicktraq it looks like the game moved into the top 10 around May 30th.

The description from the publisher says, “Once people came to Atlantic City to seek their fortune, to construct fine hotels and establish powerful monopolies. But you’re not here to build, you’ve come to destroy!

You're one of the Great Old Ones – beings of ancient and eldritch power. Cosmic forces have held you at bay for untold aeons, but at last the stars are right and your maniacal cult has called you to this benighted place. Once you regain your full powers, you will unleash your Doom upon the world!

There's only one problem: You're not alone. The other Great Old Ones are here as well, and your rivals are determined to steal your cultists and snatch victory from your flabby claws! It's a race to the ultimate finish as you crush houses, smash holes in reality, and fight to call down The Doom That Came To Atlantic City!

You and your fellow players are Great Old Ones competing to be the first to destroy the world.”

Original Offer:

$50 for the game with cardboard character markers
$75 for the game and Pewter character markers

Stretch Rewards
$55k - The components of the base game have been expanded to include 8 wooden hotels and 16 tomes.
$75k - All backers (of a tier including the base game) will receive gate counters, custom dice, and plastic figurines.
$100k - All backers now get access to a gallery of art by Lee Moyer, and the chance to vote towards which pieces will be included in the rewards packages for $100 and higher backers.

This project pushed Gunship: First Strike out of the top ten list. It was running just below what would be 12th place yesterday with around $80k, but when I looked at the project this morning it picked up for $30k in funding. What a heck of a boost in its last days!

Ground Floor is a medium-to-heavy worker placement board game in which 2-6 players control companies and build them into amazing enterprises. It plays in 90-120 minutes. Effectively use your time, money and information, and you might just be the next business mega-mogul with that high-rise corner office! Some reviewers are saying this is THE new economic game and it will replace games like Power Grid for that title.

Original Offer:
$50 – game

Stretch Rewards:
$20k - 2 additional specialty tiles
$25k - 2 additional economic forecast cards
$30k - Additional tenant improvement
$35k - 5 economic scenario cards for guidance on how to setup the economic forecast deck.
$40k - Skyline achievement floor. 1 PP (VP) for every floor in your building.
$45k - A 6 card event deck
$50k - A Kickstarter exclusive box, to help identify your copy as one that came from early support through Kickstarter.
$60k - The "Architect's Office" expansion area, which is an additional place to send your employees (pulled from future expansion).
$75k - A final production copy of the new and yet to be released Skyline.

Personal comment: Nice to see no tricks with the offers, no extra $10 for a few promo cards, no stretch rewards that are only available to people pledging in an upper tier. Thanks TMG, for making this a very successful project with very clear funding rewards and not being tricksy in design.

Tammany Hall is the game that knocked out the first $100k game from the top ten list.

This project pushed the game Kings of Air and Steam out of the top ten.

Agents of SMERSH is a cooperative Storytelling game that pits players as UN Secret Service Spies against SMERSH - set in an alternative 1970s timeline. The game comes with over 1500 written encounters - in a similar vein to Tales of the Arabian Nights - except game play is expanded, including custom dice to determine success or failure of encounters, and more strategic play from what is typically expected of a Storytelling board game. There are plenty of James Bond gadgets and pop references and detailed artwork - not to mention a touch of humor. The game features the artwork of George Patsouras (The Resistance & Flash Point).

Original Offer was

$50 for a copy of the game and Kickstarter Exclusive character card.

$70 for the above plus “book of encounters” which includes 200 pages of encounters. No book is to be included with the $50 copy of the game.

Stretch Rewards:
$30,000 – Travel Die - You roll it to get movement points AND to see if you can fly (flying an airplane is automatic in the core rules). The game works great without it - I took it out because it was unnecessary for gameplay but it is one of my favorite items removed. – Kickstarter Exclusive

$40,000 – 2 Character Cards – Kickstarter Exclusive

$50,000 - 5th Henchman card for the game.

$65,000 - Adding 100 encounters to the book for those who have pledged at a level that will be receiving the book.

$100,000 - Engraved Custom Dice (Just made it on the last day!)

Shot out of the top ten by Ground Floor on June 5, 2012.

This project entered the Top Ten on Feb 29, 2012 and sent the Mayday deck building game Eaten By Zombies into the land of geeklist top ten zombies.

This is a project with a very long timeline. The first backer pledged on Feb 14, 2012 and thirteen days later the project moved into the top ten list. The project will not be complete until March 31, 2012 so it has a lot of room to grow and move towards the top of the list.

This project has been well executed. The main kickstarter page has a link to a review of the game by the well respected Tom Vasel of the Dice Tower, The game was featured in a give away contest on Board Game Geek, a designer diary appearing in the BGG News section and the project leaders have been very active on both Kickstarter and BoardGameGeek.com answering question and stirring up support. In the 13 days of this project, there has been 20 updates posted, talking about possible upgrades to the game as well as updates on where the publishing of the game stands.

In a nutshell, the game is “a tactical space combat game that uses Boards, Cards and Dice together in an innovative and exciting way. Each player builds a custom Gunship, choosing Weapons and Armor placement to suit his tactics. The Objective is the total destruction of the enemy Assault Carrier.”

The Doom that came to Atlantic City was this game's doom and it pushed it out of the top 10.

I initially didn’t include this item thinking it was less of a game and more of a way to play with LEGOs, but according to the feedback provided at the bottom of this list I was mistaken and it is a good table top war game that just happens to use LEGO to build mechs.

The game is really a reprint of Mechaton: Giant Fighty Robots and is mainly a set of rules. Some of the higher reward levels include pre-made lego mechs ready for battle.

$10 - PDF of the rulebook

Lost it's standing in the top ten on May 25, 2012, pushed out by Sedition Wars.

This game moved into the top ten sometime during the weekend of Dec 10-11, as I was away from my computer at the time, I am not sure the exact date. It zombified “Empires of the Void”.

This game is a multi-player tactical shooter that is based on a very popular Webcomic called, “Schlock Mercenary”, created by Howard Tayler.

The game has “lots of bits” with 250 tokens, 36 floor tiles, 10 character sheets, full color rule/scenario book and dice. It also includes original artwork by Howard Tayler created specifically for the game.

Original Offer:

$55
