This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™, the Tape Monkeys™, and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Weekly Thrift List Wayback Machine The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly thrift lists through time, and will be adding stats and interesting tidbits for each week. Your Thrift Store Bargain Finds Through Time
Our GeekGuild The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Do mind the stacks of prized games. Don't mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Be sure to bow before our King, belial1134, and pay your due respects to previous Kings Great_Mazinga, minionhunter, Krazygit, EvilTimmy and Blackwind.

Is this the version with the double-sided 'Bear and Bull Market' price calculator, or the earlier 3M version? I think they have identical front covers.
If this helps, I inventoried my own copy of the game when I found it, which you can see here.
GW $7.99. Never made it to the shelf, picked it as the bin was rolling out. I think the game accounted for a third of the bin by itself!
Lifting it out reminded me of the opening scene of Spaceballs, where the imperial ship just goes and goes and goes...
[edit] it's complete! Mostly unpunched too. The decks are all sitting there in order, looks like it never got played. Outside of the box is a little worn though. Love all the figures.
Wow. I've been away for a week (and don't have the time to go through 20+ pages of finds from last week). Had the chance to hit a couple of thrifts on the way up to our family's cottage where we spent the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend (and a gaming weekend with a couple of friends the weekend after featuring Quarriors, 7 Wonders, Puerto Rico, Power Grid and Can't Stop).
Found a 2nd copy of Land Grab for 1.99 at SA. This will help finish my first copy which was just missing the rules.
This was a surprise. In shrink, though the shrink is broken and battered. I've seen some comments saying this was a good game, so now I'm going to have to decide if I'll keep it or trade it.
Found this at Value Village for $2.99. No rules. Don't worry about the rating as it comes with 13 wooden dice which was all I needed for a project I am working on for a Christmas present
6 this week. I keep feeding the Ghouls in the hope that when World War Z breaks out, that they will remember me and leave me alone (of at least kill me quickly).
Found at various locations through out the Valley of the Sun for $1.49 to $2.99
Last year I could never sell the racks. The tiles went like hotcakes, but not the racks.
Do you sell them seperately? Any tips on how I can sell them instead of scrap them?
I tried selling a bundle of 25 racks and never got any takers. The little money I would make, would have been eaten away in the Ebay and Paypal fees. I recently gave away around 70 scrabble racks
I had a pretty Scrabble rack stained dark walnut from a deluxe set I thrifted. I sold the mini magenta tiles, and I used the rack as a handle on the front of a lidded box, to make it easier to open. I've been meaning to take a picture.
Also found a 1968 version of the game that looks unplayed. The cards are in excellent condition and the glass sand timers works great. $2.99 at GW in Phoenix.
This guy has taught me a lot. I didn't have to even attend his seminar. For $1.00 at Lutheran Thrift, I turn around and sell it for $30 something to some poor shlup. This one is complete (no audio materials though) and in excellent condition.
"No matter where you are in life or what you have on your plate, never lose sight of the importance of play in your daily life." - Matt Robertson, BGG user: Bixby
"Men do not quit playing because they grow old; they grow old because they quit playing." - Oliver Wendell Holmes, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court
Educational Insights version. Missing one piece but I had a spare for it. I just can't say no to a Blokus in excellent condition. Also $2.99 at GW in Surprise.
I should have stopped to look at this one closely. The box was really beat up and held together by only tape. It was missing 2 Hotel entrances, 1 green limo, 4 recreational facilities and 4 hotels.
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you, now remain in my love. You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. -- Jesus Christ
The numbers 83, 88, 93 and 486 are the winning tickets in last week's Thrifty Lottery. Congratulations go to VikingPrincess, ShivanDrgn, coolio and zigfromsa. They are the winners of one shiny coin each. The winnings have been added as tips to the corresponding listed items on last week's list.
This week there's another Thrifty Lottery with 4 coins up for grabs. You can find the details and previous results here: The Thrifty Lottery - Outline & Results
